Joel Osteen: Apologizing for wealth is "almost an insult to our God"

Tonight's interview with Joel Osteen and his wife Victoria Osteen on "Piers Morgan Tonight" has already gotten attention for the best-selling author and pastor's statements about homosexuality.

But The Osteens tell Piers Morgan about wealth, and whether achieving massive wealth makes them feel guilty. Eric Marrapodi of CNN's Belief Blog post writes:

Morgan asked Osteen if he ever felt guilty for his wealth. He replied, "I don't ever feel guilty because it comes from – it's God's blessings on my life. And for me to apologize for God's – how God has blessed you, it's almost an insult to our God."

Osteen continued, “There is a religious – I call it a spirit or something that says we have to be poor and broke and defeated and sad to show people that we're really humble, and that we really love God. And I don't believe that. I believe God wants us to be examples of what it means to live for him. And that our money is to be a blessing to others.”

Osteen also talks about dating (before he was married), whether he drinks or smokes, who he voted for in 2008 and more. Check out the full interview tonight on CNN at 9pmET/PT.

I think that as long as the money is made from his work.. his books etc, we do not have a right to critcize him. He blesses so many people with his work for God. I think people undervalue the great work of these pastors, and the blessings they pass on to their congregants, although it cannot be measured in actual dollars, is invaluable.

We pay Donaly Trump for his work, we pay people for the good work that they do, why not pay Joel for a book or tape that he writes? He is a scholar, humanitarian, believer and pastor. I frankly do not think he gets paid enough!

Blessed? Who? Everyone that follows his interpretation of the *Holy Book* is *blessed*. Any one that does not follow him is a *sinner*. This clown is as bad as any left-wing PC apologist.

With Joel and Victoria they are just another Jim and Tammy in the making... you can just waller in money for so long and sooner or later your excesses will find you out. Wouldnt you just love to see into their bedroom at night. She probably dreams oh Lordy get me a real man, and he thinks oh please make two, one for each of us.

Anyone who believes the Osteens have an avenue to "God." I have a bridge to sell you in Florida. They are fake charlatans through and through. LIving the rich life by enriching themselves with your poor souls' money. Go ahead. You know how Joel says everyone should be "rich" like he is. What a bunch of suckers! He and his wife laugh all the way to the bank. just like Tammy and Jim Baker.

While Pastor Osteen's ministry continues to make a difference in the lives of many people, it is regrettable when he is asked by Piers why he is so successful in reaching people, that he does not give God the glory or credit for his God-given abilities. A major distinction between Pastor Osteen and Billy Graham is that Pastor Graham consistently spoke of the grace of God and focused all his attention and energy toward the Lord rather than to himself. For a Christian, it is all about the Lord, not us. Exodus 20:3 and Deuteronomy 6:5

Finally Michelle, someone who knows there Bible. I was just reading my Bible this morning and it was saying , "blessed are the rich for they are humbled and will fade away like the morning mist. The apostle Paul did not charge most churches for his preaching and he is the "most" influential writer in the new testament instired by God. The Bible says that we will be held accountable for everything including how we spend or use our wealth. How does he get so wealthy? Does he force his church member to direct deposit 10% or more into the church bank account. Who is paying all the bills and they are still filthy rich. Never ever trust anyone who smiles or laughs and giggles all the time. That is a lifelong, 40 + years learned experience. They are hiding a deep dark secret and are totally opposite than what they lead on to be. Billy Graham is a true Man of God/Jesus Christ that even his son Franklin will never compare. Another phoney. If God has blessed him so much then he should be blesing other's that are in need. "IF" people would read there bible's, and ones that they can understand like the, "new living translation, students study Bible" then they would see and hear what evil is going on and not be blinded by it.

      Hi Nina,
I am glad you have changed your point of view about Joel. I remember his being criticized for the price of his tickets on Ebay when in fact that's a secondary market. His tickets are usually around $15. Don't know why the change, but I agree with you.

Not sure why some are so critical of Joel. He is very honest and clearly states that he has not had the formal training that Rev. Graham has had. Joel Osteen is a wonderful motivational speaker who believes in the scripture and I think he gives God credit regularly. Good evening.

Well my friend you may like Joel Osteen however you should consider this, Jesus told his disciples to not take any money from the people they preached to but that He would supply their every need. Furthermore his prosperity gospel is found absolutely no where in scripture. As a matter of fact Jesus warned about the rich not getting into Heaven because of their love of money and wealth. Paul warned about the dangers of being wealthy. A Pastor that never preaches on sin, redemption, or conviction is not a God-Called preacher. Paul outlines how a God called preacher will preach in his lesson to Timothy when he said "preach the word in season and out of season. Reprove, rebuke and exhort with all long suffering and doctrine." There is no rebuke in Joel's preaching, there is no reproof in Joel's preaching, and there is certainly no Biblical Doctrine being preached at his church. He needs to remember that God is not only "Love" but He is also a "wrathful God" a "Jealous God" and a "God that is going to hold each and every person on earth accountable for the way they have lived. Especially Pastors. We as Pastor's will give an account for every word we spoke in and out of the pulpit. We will give an account of how we managed God's money within the church. We will all give an account for every message we ever preached and every lesson we ever taught. All I can say is that I would not want to be Joel on Judgment Day for I am afraid Jesus is going to say to him, "Depart from me you worker of iniquity I never knew you!"

        Dear Sir,
Yes you got that right Sir. Joel Osteen is a wonderful motivational speaker but not a God called Pastor. That is Joel's main problem. He has never made the claim that he was "called by God to preach." What he does claim regularly is that he "took over his dad's church" when he died. He has no credentials from God to be spiritually leading any church and God's house is never to be run as a business like Joel runs Lakewood. That is why I am so critical of Joel. He is not honest because he does not preach the whole Bible to the flock he preaches to. His main messages are prosperity messages and feel good messages and he never preaches or teaches on the judgment of God or sin in any of his messages. .You are right he has not had the formal training that Rev. Graham has had because he never needed it to take over his dad's church without any opposition of any kind. Yes I agree that he believes in the scripture but when you do not "preach the word in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke and exhort your congregation you are not sharing the whole truth of the Word of God to your people. Sure it makes them feel good when they leave but salvation comes through conviction not feeling good. You feel good after you have been saved. All I can say is that I am glad that I will not be Joel when he has to stand before God and give an account of his life, his preaching and teaching, his use of God's money, and the fact that he was never called to preach. I am afraid he will hear the same thing Jesus taught in Matthew 7, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

I think Joel Olsteen deserves to be paid for his efforts. And He referrs to scripture on his opinion whether being gay is a sin. But it also referrs in the Bible that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God! Shouldn't he provide a large part of his wealth (perhaps 90%) to helping the poor, etc. Joel would still have much more money than he needs to live a comfotable life. After all he is in the Bible business, not the real estate business like Donald Trump!

The bottom line is he makes his money off of God. The money is Gods, not his.
The whole idea of the prosperity gospel is a perversion of the word. Jesus commanded his disciples to go in the world with nothing.
Wealth is Mammon, a Chaldee or Syriac word meaning "wealth" or "riches" :

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

More importantly he spends his wealth on the pleasures of the world. Comfort and luxury.

1John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For his very life will be exacted from him tonight. Then who will get his wealth to keep, and how will it then be worried over? I do know for sure > If your actions are to pile your stack high and turn you neighbor out to die, you are a servant of mammon my dear-lost-error-filled-captive. Anyone baptized by Christ knows just what I'm saying. If not then keep praying. And if your eye is not clear then how dark are you inside? That Osteen needs to find and get through the narrow gate. Wake up people! He is not Christ, don't look about for Christ, being drawn by sensational chatter. Praise the Lord for all of you guys who know your Bibles. How can you make comments about Christianity when you don't read God's word. If you don't put on the full armour of God, satan, who walks about like a roaring lyon will tear you apart. This guy is not only dead but doubly dead, pulled up by the roots.
Any one who calls themselves the ark angle is really full of them selves. And you are waaaaay wrong. Paul says the it is definetly our responsibility to judge those in the church. He also says that if they are caught sinning that they are to be made examplples of so others will have the fear of God and what might happen to them. ONce again, a little truth mixed in with some lies is harder to detect than an ourright lie. Use http://www.biblegateway.com to search for "sin" and "judge" from Romans to Jude. It's there. I just scares me to no end that someone would refer to themself as an arkangle or even an angle. Angle's are fellow servants such as us and are not to be worshiped. Look that up too. Just put in Angle. Also, "none of us is righteous, no not one." Just put in righteous. We all deserve to go to hell. None of us are angle's. If we were born on this planet, then we deserve to die and go to hell. Only by the Grace of God can we be saved. Not Joel Ostein.

      Well Ms. Nina,
You need to read your Bible dear. I have been a Pastor a lot longer than Joel Osteen and I will tell you this. The Bible never teaches that any Pastor should live in a 12.5 Million Dollar home and be worth 40 Million Dollars. That is far from what the Bible teaches. God is totally against any one having that much money and not using it to help the poor and the needy. Sure he and his wife may give some money to charity but you will never find where God never spoke any thing but bad things about the rich! He constantly teaches that the rich are suppose to share all they have and build treasures in Heaven. Joel will find out one day that he was dead wrong with his prosperity gospel message. We as Pastor's are suppose to preach with conviction and authority on the dangers of sin in their lives and let people know that God is a righteous Judge who will judge all men one day for the way they live on earth. God is a loving God like Joel preaches but he does not tell the whole story. God is also a wrathful God and a jealous God. Joel will surely feel the wrath of God on day for the way he preached his false doctrine and they way he wasted God's money. We are commanded to be good stewards of God's money not spend it on 12.5 million dollar homes, that is blasphemous to say the least.

Dr. Lynch, Your mind needs a complee renewing. God didn't call pastors to condemn his people. he called pastors to bring others to Christ by teaching of God's grace. God's wrath for the believer was replaced by grace when his son died on the cross for us. He is not taking note of every sin a christian commits because when he looks at us he sees his son Jesus. And you know what, he has forgiven you even as you wrongly interpret and teach from the Bible. I'm glad he's no the God that you portray him to be, but a god of grace who sent his dear son Jesus to take away the sins of the unrighteaous and make them righteous.

hi Dr. mark. i believe we all know GOD has given each one of us grace and gifts and it is up to us to make good use of it since we will account for it. God added riches to Solomon because he made wisdom his priority. He used it to build God a temple and others. i believe Joel is enjoying the blessings of god because he obeys hat God expects him to do. one thing i have learn in life is if one gains something which does not come from God there is always a terrible ending for the person. in my country Ghana there is this blessed motivational speaker and pastor like Joel and his name is otabil. he has built a university with over 2000 students enrolled.this man is blessed with wealth and i don't believe he is living in a two bedroom house. Joel is continuing with what his dad left. Don't you believe he would have failed along the way if he had depended on his own wisdom and not of God's? Believe me anything that does not come from God surely comes to nothing. so all i will say is let us be like the Corinthians.listen to the gospel and go and make research and pray on what we have heard because it does not take take a person who has been in the ministry a longtime to be knowledgeable in the gospel but it takes the grace.i know lots of young people in my university who are doing marvelous in God and yet have not spent 8 years in christianity. let us remember that God has given us choices so if Joel chooses to buy a million house and still helps the poor and obey God, then may he continue to be blessed but if not well let's pray he gets back to right path.He may have had his ups and downs in the ministry and i believe with God's help he overcame them and he shares it with us.one may not know what he goes through but remember he is human and not perfect. Jesus did associate wealth with evil because men have love for it but does not mean it is evil.it depends on how you gain it and uses it. there are lots of rich men in my church who are still becoming rich because of their giving in church contribution and to the society and those ho see themselves to be poor are still poor because they always claim they don't have so they decide not to give. i believe Joel's giving through the messages and material wise has contributed to his success as his dad did so as he continues to do so his generation will also benefit from this blessings on his life as he is enjoying the blessings God blessed his dad with. So i believe e need not to judge him but to remember one another in prayers especially pastors praying for one another for if there should be chaos it will affect all pastors not even one and christians. christians dont have to judge one another but to pray for one another not to criticize openly for if we do hwo can we prove that God is love and love dwells in us. thank you.

The fact that through the shrewd use of the process he has succeeded in gaining tax free status as a "preacher" I commend as, truly, a work of art in term sof using the system. He certainly is not preaching a religious message. He doesn't refer to the Gospels, Jesus, by name, sin, forgiveness or any of the most basic precepts of the Christian faith. What he does do is provide exactly what what the lost legions of sheep in the world want: a pep talk and being assured that they're "OK". And turn their dollars in at the door they most certainly do. Actually, if it wasn't so sadit might be comical. Life is so short and it is short for this guy as well. Ultimately, he'll answer for his actions as we all will; and he wont be able to grease the palm of St Peter to get into Heaven on a free pass.

At least he's not trying to hide under the guise of religion and false righteousness!

And like Joel the religious ones, at this point in time, have made a very bad choice ;-(

Yet while there is breath one can repent and make the right choice!

The Eternal Family of "Our Father and GOD" -or- a religious system, all of which are grounded in the sands of time?

        Choose wisely!

Who is willing to forsake all, and desire that which The Messiah desired above all else?

Well my friend a lot has been said about Joel in the past but all I know for sure is that He is preaching a false "prosperity Gospel" which you will find no where in the Bible and He also will have to give an account for every message He has delivered to the folks at his church one day soon when Jesus returns. The messages he preaches are sometimes relevant but the fact that he does not ever preach on repentance and sin is a bad mistake since that is what we as Pastor's are called to do by Jesus himself. Do not get me wrong when Paul instructed Timothy to "preach the Word in season and out of season. Reprove, rebuke and exhort with all long suffering and doctrine," he meant that we are to preach some "encouraging messages" but also some messages on sin and repentance to let people know how Jesus expects us to live in this world. Without some grace mixed with rebuke in our preaching we are not following the example Jesus left us to follow. On top of that no Pastor is ever suppose to have an enormous amount of money to live on in this world because Jesus clearly told His disciples that when they traveled from place to place to preach that they were suppose to let each house furnish what they needed to live on from day to day. Joel is not alone in his deception however many false preachers are out there today simply preaching for the money and they will all have to give an account to the Chief Shepherd on day soon and then they will find out that those of us who have been trying to get him to change are right after all..

It is so easy for people to constantly judge others for their success and downfalls! Who are all of you, believers of God or NOT, to say who has a right to make money and who doesn't? In response to some of you saying that Jesus was against the rich is wrong, read the bible! Jesus was against people who did not share their faith and were corrupt with their wealth! Osteen gives and helps millions, that is why he is blessed!

EX: “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” – Phil 4:19

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:7-9

        Dear Sister Ana,
Well sweety you are the one who should read your entire Bible not just the parts that make Joel look like he is doing the right thing. Sure the Old Testament does state that "God gives us the power to gain wealth!" However what we do with that wealth is the main key to pleasing God. Jesus said, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon this earth where moths will eat it and rust will corrupt it, but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven where neither moth nor rust will corrupt it." John says in 1John 2:15 "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." James states in James 1:9-11, "Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways." Luke writes in Luke 1:46-53, "And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath showed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away." In Paul's letter to Timothy he writes these words in 1 Timothy 6:6-12,, "But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses." Verses 17-19 record these words, "Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life." If Joel thinks that he is pleasing God by wasting God's money on 12.5 million dollar homes, fancy cars, and fancy clothes he is sadly mistaken and will pay a great price for it when he has to give an account of his life to God some day and answer for how good of a steward he was with the blessings of money God gave to him in this life. There is nothing wrong with being rich if you do with that money what God instructs us to do, "distribute it, meet the needs of the poor. give to the homeless, share with those in need." Now where is it ever found in scripture that any man is suppose to get rich from doing God's work and then spend that money on worldly things! It does not matter how well Joel is loved or appreciated down here, what matters is what does God think of what he is doing! I can tell you from 25 years of ministerial experience and years of Bible study that Joel is not doing anything that is well pleasing to God including his preaching his prosperity gospel nor his use of God's money for his and Victories own pleasure. It simply is not scriptural in any form or fashion and never will be!

I don't seen professional athletes worth $200M do any damn thing for anyone but themselves!! Get real people!!

These richs exploiters of your faith should fear criticism the least.

It is either jealousy or they dont understand who God is. CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE THE MOST BLESSED PEOPLE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. SO ALL NEGATIVE CHRISTIANS, MEDITATE ON THE WORD OF GOD AND YOU WILL BE PROSPEROUS AND HAVE GOOD SUCCESS. THE BIBLE SAID IT. I DID NOT MAKE IT UP. AGAIN, THE BLESSING OF THE LORD MAKE ONE RICH AND HE ADDS NO TROUBLE TO IT. AGAIN, THE BIBLE SAID IT. PLEASE CHURCH, WAKE UP, GET RID OF THE POOR NEGATIVE THINKING AND ENTER INTO THE GOOD LAND FLOWING WITH MILK AND HONEY. LET JOEL CONTINUE TO DO WHAT GOD CALLED HIM TO DO. GOD BLESS HIM EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY. MORE BLESSINGS TO JOEL AND HIS FAMILY!!!!

Joel is an actor and does not follow the words and instruction of the Lord, so He's just another capitalist exploiting the desperate souls for profit. God wants His word spread but overly rich is a sin, Especially when you pick and choose which parts of scripture you decide to adhere to . You are in error Jel correct it soon or the path of the PTL, BAKERS, and others shall be yours. Joel Osteen is a wolf in sheeps clothing. (not a quote a perception and reference) With all the Poor,Hungary, cold, suffering people etc out there. Why in the world would a man of GOD with so much ask you to send him money when he doesn’t need it?

There are alot of legit causes out there that help alot of people, Joel talks a good talk but lets me honest here he really doesnt need your checkbook. What would Jesus do if he had $100 give it to Joel? or give it to a soup Kitchen? I couldn’t say I’m Not Jesus, but I have a feeling in my heart where it would go.

really, a true man of God would not mass so much wealth with starving people in this country and all over the world. He is a motivational speaker and nothing more. However, I am deeply troubled that he uses his supposed Faith in Christ to milk people of there hard earnings. Most the people that give to a jerk like this are on a limited income. God will judge the teachers of faith much harsher.

True 'wealth' is a person's character, not the material possessions they have (or don't for many). I'm not christian (or religious) but I can tell you that if I'm wrong, and god really does exist, I'll probably get to heaven before any of these rich Christians who wage war while proclaiming how much they love their fellow brother.

Money is the root of all evil. Everyone would be better off without it in their lives. It gives false valuation to the one thing we know is priceless: life.

Money is the root of all evil...because it's a simple fact THAT the more you have of it the more you love'll it & will guard it with your life. There a saying I heard once "Money begets worry" & its true. People would be better off, especially Preachers who believe God will supply all their wants" if they just had enough money to live a reasonable life. I mean you can only eat three meals in a day unless you're a "Gorge,er...you only need one bed to sleep in unless you're 9'0 x 9'0 in height & you only need one house to make your home, as what more space do you want unless your family numbers a football crowd Any more than that...& it's greed. I am a Christian too but I am very disheartened by how many Christians use the scriptures and their faith for personal gain and to put down other fellow people who don't have the same views or identical beliefs. Jesus showed by example, not by condemning others/ That is what made him and the gospel messages so inspiring. Joel doesn't spend much time on the gospels which is the essence of Christianity. I think he is a good man but he spends too much time on what makes him money! I am totally turned off by most of the political right because they choose which part of the scriptures suits their views and ignore other biblical references. While Joel can certainly inspire people he is an inspirational speaker rather than a pastor. He does not have the credentials of a reverend. But he has used his religious and inpirational messages to make a lot of money. He is a religious entreprener like doctors have become entrepreners in milking the healthcare system. According to scripture, what he does as a person and with his wealth will determine how God will judge him!

Funny how this minister claims to be a Christian yet is ignoring one of Jesus Christ's most basic teachings about following Him. Found in three places in the New Testament, Holy Bible, Jesus says that money/wealth are prohibitive in being a follower of Jesus Christ. Matthew 19, Mark 10 and Luke 18 all state (that it's repeated three times in three different Gospel books hints at its importance) that one should sell their possessions, give to the poor THEN follow Jesus...that giving away what keeps a person from following Jesus in heart is true happiness. Being poor, i.e., sad, and defeated, is NOT part of Christianity but wealth is a bigger problem. Either one chooses Jesus or chooses wealth, cannot choose both. And, obeying Jesus brings great joy therefore poverty is not a burden.

A few observations: a. Andrew your statements about not believing in God are nullified once you used the scripture, "money is the root of evil." You can't use that verse that is spoken by the mouth of God if you don't belive in God. That's a contradiction.

    b. gretchen, the whole premise of the Bible and the life of following Jesus is to first love God with all of your heart and to love others as yourself. WIthin that, as believers, we are called to worship God and obey Him with whatever we are asked to do. The Bible is full of worship, sacrifice and obedience. Other than the Lordship of Christ and the infallibility of scripture which are non-negotiables, Once we get legalistic and start following principles as oppossed to the Person, than we have lost the truth of the Gospel. If God asks us to be poor, than we better be poor and give Him all the glory. If He asks us to have wealth and have influence in that area, than we better do that too and give him the glory. The Truth is this. I belive in Christ crucified for my sins and I am saved once i reiceive that and in His resurrection. Jesus loves us so much, we have the honor to serve Him in all capacities at all times. We are to edify our brothers and sisters and love God first and love the people around us like Jesus would. The two most important commandments from Jesus.

On the issue of money and riches..
Jesus Christ looks at what’s in our hearts.
He discerns our deepest thoughts, and the pre-thoughts of our pre-thoughts of our pre-thoughts of our pre-thoughts of our pre-thoughts and so on and on and on.. So far ahead, that for us it would be totally inconceivable to possibly even grasp, or imagine, much less conceive how far ahead. Again, on the issue of money and riches, Jesus Christ looks at what is in our hearts. “And for that, and many, many other very good reasons, it is always highly recommended to be totally honest with Him at all times.. As we will all face Him someday, as in likely very soon.

Besides, if he calls gays sinners because it is on the scriptures, then he is a bigger sinner for not following what Jesus said on Matthew 19:21: "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

Well, he is not doing that, so he is a bigger sinner!! Besides, gay people are God's creation, not life choice. God does not make mistakes, so gays are not sinners for being born this way.

The gospel of Jesus is not a prosperity gospel nor is it an adversity/poverty gospel...it is a gospel for all people in every walk of life, the rich and the poor and everyone in between. You don't have to be poor to be a follower of Christ and you you're not excluded if you're rich. Gretchen, in the scripture references you quoted, Jesus is challenging the rich man to give everything away because he valued his wealth above God and people. The man loved money more than God! Salvation isn't dependent on giving away every possession, or paying for your seat in church...but on Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and trusting in that. Once we receive salvation, following Him for some may mean giving everything away, but that may not be the case for others. For example, If God blessed someone with great wealth and that person is a good steward of that wealth (blessing the poor, giving generously, etc) it will honor and glorify god greatly. Bottom line, we are not the judge regarding matters of the heart, God is.

Joel Osteen says he doesn't judge, but that is exactly what he was doing on Piers Morgan's show by calling gays sinners – judging.
He talks about sins handed down in the Old Testament by people who were God-inspired, not God, as Christians believe Christ is.
If you're a Christian, you believe in the teachings of a seen and heard God, a God who walked amongst us. Anything Christ says supersedes anything written in the Old Testament by prophets, not by God. And Christ spoke to us about Two Commandments: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it,
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Just these two. So what Christ said was that we shall love God, self, and neighbor all the same (like unto it). Leave the judging entirely up to a God that most people really do not understand.
I believe we are on this planet to face a most difficult challenge: To love everyone the same, unconditionally. And there are obstacles aplenty in the way, as Christ says there should be.

Why then hasn't the Bible been redacted to omit these obvious screw-ups that God made earlier in His career? Heaven knows it's already been altered hundreds of times over the centuries (since God wasn't really sure of what He really meant when he spoke to Adam and Noah and Moses and those other guys, we had all kinds of religious leaders fix it up for Him).

That's when He told us to turn the other cheek instead. I'll take Christ's word over yours.

I was ready to say goodbye to Larry, so I've been watching Piers a little and giving him a chance and I have to say, it would be helpful if he was just a little bit likeable – is he channelling Simon Cowell? I guess he thinks he has to do the 'edgy' schtick. He's no Anderson Cooper, John King, Wolf Blitzer, or Charlie Rose (you know, on the trusted network), so the least he could be is likeable. The thing is, THEY are all likeable. I'm a brit, so I get where he comes from, but after this time, I'm tuning out.

I think that Joel is a terrible example of a Christian preacher. Why didn't he mention Jesus ? He is a worldly preacher afraid to offend anyone,by listening to him you would not know what he believes in. I know he talks about God a lot but where is Jesus in this interview, this was one of the best chances he had to try to share the gospel. Being a wealthy man is not the point,he is a blessed man,but again where why didn't he give Christ any air time.

AAAAAAAAMEN TO YOUR POST ABOUT PIERS NEEDING TO SLOOOOOW DOWN !!!!!!!!!! I HAVE WATCHED EVERY EPISODE SINCE THE FIRST TIME HE AIRED !!!! but i've got to say....i'm getting pretty fed up with his constant interruptions on his guest > i'm trying to give him the benefit of the dought thinking maybe he does that soooo much cause he has so much questions in a one hour time frame or does he do that trying to get at the shock factor for "RATINGS" ???? IT REALLY SEEMS THAT HE WANTS TO BE CONFRONTATIONAL ON EVERY LEVEL and it's really starting to annoy the crap out of me !!! his constant interrupting is sooo aggravating . it's like if they dont have the same opinion as he does or is not giving him the juicy story that he is soooo wanting for his ratings he's NOT happy so he'll constantly barge in on his guest answers and that's where it gives room for others to misunderstand what someone is trying to say if they're not able to finish the point they're trying to make or in this case.......if they're not able to finish the question period which many of the times was the case !! I mean really......LET THE PEOPLE TALK PIERS !!!!! IF YOUR AS GOOD OF AN INTERVIEWER AS YOU THINK YOU ARE .......then you should understand INTERVIEWS should be AT LEAST "50% questions / 50% answers" instead of this ongoing "90% piers questions and 10% quest answers !!!!!! Because why have a show at all if all we hear is YOU piers ?????? isn't that the whole point of having a talk show is to hear what the quest have to say to your questions ??? we don't JUST want to hear YOUR questions and/or comments........BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE PUBLIC WOULD ACTUALLY LIKE TO HEAR THE QUEST ANSWERS TOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see his wife wanted to get off the subject of money...when she got her chance to talk. Piers being a Catholic should have pulled him up when he said God gave the us the commandments "Love God & Love your brother" actually it was Jesus the son of God who gave those commandmants to his deciples. And also the wording was in mine & Piers Catholic religion "Love God & love thy neighbour as thyself". Another thing Jesus preached is that "It is harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God; that it is for a caml to pass through the eye of an needle". So I suggest that Preacher rethinks his religion & preaching & re-reads the "Bible"!

Mr. Osteen said that he believed that young man was not "well raised". Come on Piers......am disappointed that you did not take that answer to how the Rev feels about mental illness. What does the Rev believe about mental illness. An important issue you stepped aside from.

Agreed. Piers missed that. Suffering from a mental illness has nothing to do with how a child is raised. Parents cannot be held responsible for a child with a mental illness unless there is undisputed proof that the parents were negligent in treating it. But Piers stumped him on several other issues.

I don't buy the "my only income is from my books and DVDs...." line. Even if it is, he uses his ministry as a platform to promote himself and therefore his books. And do we think really that he doesn't use the millions his ministry rakes in to fund some of their expenses? And Victoria, what value does she really add to the interview? She bought into the JO coolade 24 years ago and stil stares at him like he's the greatest thing since slided bread. And oh, yes, her role is to get him out of a corner when Piers stumps him. Also I am very disppointed with Olsteen–Being Gay is not an addiction or anything like it. One last thing: nothing is said about LESBIANS in the bible. Are we sinners?

Piers, we love your show so far. If you really want to hear the answers to your very inciteful questions about Christianity and the love and grace of God, you need to have Franklin Graham on your show. God is the creator of heaven and earth. The earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof. His word says that when you accept Jesus as Lord and savior that we are joint heirs with Jesus. Jesus is not poor. He is prosperous in every sense of the word. If your parents are rich, then you are rich. its your inheritance. As a child of God I am rich. Joel is blessed because he is doing what God has called him to do. he has taken the talents that God gave him and used them to gain wealth. why is so difficult to accept a christian minister to be rich. Actors and actresses are rich and even Piers is rich because they put their God given talent to use. Noone is questioning their wealth. or even a athlete getting paid millions to hit a ball or dunk a ball. that's acceptable but if a man or woman of God lives prospersously, then its questioned.

I agree with everything you said except the last line. I think Piers' interview with Joel was great and I very much admire Joel Osteen. Piers simply pushed back on him where others would not. I particularly agree that in the past the objective seemed to encourage people to be divided on political issues and some seemed to live for getting their words posted.
I think what Piers will need to focus on is making sure all of his interviews are equally provocative or equally not so provocative. For example, the interview with Oprah and Clooney was no where near the same type of interview as this interview with Joel. Having said that, I find Piers quite refreshing.
As for your last line, I think Joel is the real deal; some may simply not like him and that is their choice.

II like Joel because he is inspiring, however as a religious person, I was raised to believe that we are all children of God and gays are not excluded. As children of God because of Adam and Eve's sins, none of us are perfect, therefore been gay should not be considered to be a sin, therefore I disagree with his bible.
Also, as a religious person, I do not believe in the death penalty because only God has the right to take our lives.

Piers Morgan is a JERK! He's not one of us - he's not an American and we don't appreciate his arrogant/pompous "ambush interview" approach to embarrass and humiliate Americans whom we love, respect and admire. Who hired this JERK anyway? Is he really supposed to take the place of Larry King? He probably thinks it's cool to ambush someone in an interview, but he'll only get away with that for a very short time. When other famous people see how he treats his guests, no one will want to appear on this show. I hate him! I especially hate the way he was so rude to Joel Osteen, who does nothing but good in this world and was too polite and gracious to tell Morgan where to go. I'd like to see Morgan with someone like Alec Baldwin on the show and see how far he'd get being so rude. He does not belong on this show. I hate this British invasion of all these British actors taking over American movies and TV shows and putting American actors out of work. Can you imagine Larry King going on a nationally televised talk show in England interviewing the Archbishop of Canterbury and skewering him? He would never do that, out of respect for another country and for someone highly respected by the English people. I hate Piers Morgan! Get him off this show! He does not belong on an American talk show - send him back to England!

Piers is not supposed just to sit there & let them give the answes they're comfortable with...his job is to irk them like a "Interrogator" so as to see if they are really as nice as they're made out to be.

& that's as regards each of his guests.

      Dude,
I'm a conservative but someone's got to stop these rip-off artists like Osteen from stealing all of our poor stupid peoples money. I think it was fair that he tried to expose this guy for what he is. In fact, I don't think he went hard enough after hime considering what this guy is doing. These are sick people that would exploit people the way they do, even more scarey if they start having influence in our society. I can't see where Osteen has anything to do with religion or God. He's a businessman who's found a way to make money. He would be better off to call himself a motivational speaker and remove God and Judgement from the equation and just be honest about it. He could be like Tony Robbins or something but to abuse religion the way he is just doesn't make sense.

    RECALL NOTICE

This is totally amazing. Be sure to read it. Talk about clever and to the point!!!

Never heard it put quite like this before.....

    RECALL NOTICE:

The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart.
This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units. This defect has been technically termed "Sub-sequential Internal Non-Morality," or more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed.

    Some of the symptoms include:
    1. Loss of direction
    2. Foul vocal emissions
    3. Amnesia of origin
    4. Lack of peace and joy
    5. Selfish or violent behavior
    6. Depression or confusion in the mental component
    7. Fearfulness
    8. Idolatry
    9. Rebellion

The Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect, is providing factory-authorized repair and service free of charge to correct this defect.

The Repair Technician, JESUS, has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs. There is no additional fee required.

The number to call for repair in all areas is: P-R-A-Y-E-R.
Once connected, please upload your burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE procedure. Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component.

No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Jesus will replace it with:
    1. Love
    2. Joy
    3. Peace
    4. Patience
    5. Kindness
    6. Goodness
    7. Faithfulness
    8. Gentleness
    9. Self control

Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these fixes.
WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction voids any manufacturer warranties, exposing the unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list and will result in the human unit being permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.

DANGER: The human being units not responding to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted to enter Heaven so as to prevent contamination of that facility. Thank you for your attention!

    – GOD

P.S. Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important recall notice, and you may contact the Father any time by 'Knee mail'!

    Because He Lives!

Piers I really enjoyed your show with Joel Osteen, however you asked him some really important questions that he had no answers for. I know and understand the answers to all of the questions that he could not answer. I'm a new writer of spiritual metaphysical understanding. God has allowed me to solve the mysteries in the scriptures that were written in allegories in hopes that no one would figure out the hidden messages for each of us to live by that would make all of us better human beings. You can check out my web site http://www.katakiospath.net and read the synopsis of my two books that I have written with the answers to the questions that Joel could not answer. Also tell me where to send you a copy of my books and I will send them to you. Thank You !

Piers, I forgot to put the name of my two books on my comment. Spirituality and Our world Crisis and Revelations New Beginnings. These two books have the answers to the questions that Joel could not answer. These two books are connected and the revelations in them not only is for the healing of each of us at the soul level, but it is a healing of our world. They explain the life process that very few people know and understand. God has shown me all of the clues to solve the hidden mysteries in the scriptures that were deliberately hidden from the masses that would make each of us better human beings. Read the synopsis of my books on my web site. http://www.katakiospath.net and let me know where to send the books and I'll send you a copy so that you will understand the why's and how the principles back of all life works. I was recently in Europe viewing the great cathedrals where popes and potentates, such as Joel Osteen appears to be, once walked and spoke, yet the most moving experience I had was in a rock-hewn chapel on a hillside in Assisi where San Francesco (St. Francis) once secluded himself and a few friends to pray, meditate and sit in silent contemplation. It is important to remember that Jesus changed the world with 12 disciples and that theChristian scripture states, "where two or three are gathered.": We may be impressed by largess, but God appears to be content with small and faithful. That is worth contemplating.

How can a preacher forget all about Matthew 19:23-24, mark 10:24-25, and Luke 18:24-25. “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Unless Joel Osteen repents, and gives up his wealth, I think it is very clear that according to the words of Jesus Christ, he will be refused entry into Heaven.

EVERYONE IS MORE INVOLVED IN BRINGING DOWN ANYONE WHO IS A CHRISTIAN THESE DAYS; PEOPLE SHOULD BE MORE INVOLVED IN BRINGING DOWN POLITICIANS WHO LIE AND CHEAT AND STEAL. THEY SHOULD NOT WORRY SO MUCH ABOUT POINTING ANGRY FINGERS IN INTERVIEWS TOWARDS SOMEONE WHO IS ONLY "READING AND SPEAKING THE BIBLE...SCRIPTURES..."...A PREACHER WHO PREACHES GOD'S WORD DOES NOT MEAN THAT HE HATES THE SINNER OR THE PERSON COMMITTING THE SIN...IF HE IS A TRUE CHRISTIAN HE WILL NOT SHUT HIS MOUTH ABOUT GOD'S SCRIPTURES...BUT HE WILL ALSO BE LIKE JESUS AND LOVE...NOT JUDGE...ONLY SPEAK WHAT GOD'S WORD SAYS. I LOVE MANY MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE GAY...I KNOW GOD DOES NOT APROOVE OF IT IN SCRIPTURE..BUT I LOVE THEM AND IT IS NOT FOR ME TO JUDGE THEM...NOR FOR THEM TO TAKE MARRIAGE FROM THE BIBLE IF THEY ARE NOT LIVING THE REST OF IT. MARRIAGE CEREMONIES ARE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE FAITH IN GOD...NOW..ARE THERE GAY MARRIAGES IN BUDHISTS, OR ISLAMIC OR ORTHODOX JEWISH RELIGIONS? DO HINDU'S HAVE GAY MARRIAGE IN THEIR FAITH? WHY BEAT UP THE CHRISTIANS FOR THEIR FAITH AND THEIR 5000 YEAR OLD SCRIPTURES? ALSO...IF IT IS OKAY FOR SOMEONE TO SAY THEY BELIEVE IN REINCARNATION OR TO WORSHIP SATAN...WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD ANYONE BE OFFENDED OR UPSET AT SOMEONE BELIEVING IN JESUS CHRIST OR IN GOD? PEOPLE FEAR GOD BECAUSE THEY REALLY BELIEVE IN HIM. THEY BEAT UP ON CHRISTIANS AND TAKE THEIR RIGHTS AWAY AND BASH THEM BUT NO ONE ELSE IN ANY OTHER RELIGION...WHY?

The Bible actually talks about this Christian bashing. Jesus said, ""If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first." John 15:18 It seems that He was preparing us to be persecuted. It will get worse before it gets better and Christians need to be strong, hold on tight to our faith and not be swayed or turned away from the will of God. Remember it is the adversary's objective to turn Christians away from God. Don't be fooled and fall victim to the schemes. It's a good thing that we all know who wins in the end. Praise be to God!!

I have enjoyed your show the brief time it’s been on. Tonight I had to exit early. Joel Osteen seems to be an example of the sign of our times. It’s a sad state of our union when so many people will pay so much money to a smiling preacher to interpret reality for them in a way to give them hope. I’d be smiling just like Joel if I were able to use religion to extract so much money from so many people. I just don’t think I could get myself to do it. Please give us more interesting guests. Osteen is a slimeball, one in a long list of charlatans who feed their greed for power, popularity and money by exploiting fear. Their justification is always that they're doing God's work, as if they have, or want, a clue about what that is. The Hell that they use to augment others' fear and their own coffers awaits their arrival – and it can't be too soon.

This was my first time watching this show and I will never watch it again. This was clear Christian-bashing. Joel does not get to change what the Bible states. As Christians, we follow the Bible and use it as a guidebook for living. A person chooses whether or not to be a Christian and if you make the choice to be one – there are some guidelines that we are to follow. I am so tired of people bashing Christians for standing on God's word. I hope that true Christians stay faithful to God's word and not be moved by all of the bashing. Here are only a few of the many Bible verses on prosperity. Not only does God want us to be blessed in every manner, He can and will do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can even think or imagine.

John 10:10 – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 6:38 – Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Philippian 4:19 – And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 1:12 – ...and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
John 16:23 – In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.

Did I mention that I was labeled intellectually gifted as a child and was always at the top of my class? Not that this makes me better than anyone – I usually don't discuss my academic gifts or intelligence but since you just insulted me, I thought it should be brought up. Thank goodness your opinion of me is irrelevant. I understand that many people lack faith but don't insult me because I have faith in God and am a devout Christian. All I want in life is to please God and to serve His purpose for my life. And I thank Him for the many blessings and abundance that He has given me. Praise be to God!!!

I look at someone like Rich Mullins and think there is a man who knew Jesus. He similarly had many fans and people who bought his music, but what did he do with all that money ... he gave it all away and kept what an average american made at the time and taught music to kids on an indian reservation. He had an authentic joy and knowledge of Christ, and shared His love with all. Now you have Joel who honestly has no interest in giving it all away, and smears it in the face of the public that he shouldn't be ashamed. Doesn't seem like a genuine disciple of Christ. He looks like someone who is leading believers down the WIDE road.

I do applaud them, as they have (along with others) found a way to get rich off the masses, in their case they made money off the weak and ignorant. Their followers are a bunch of turds, who probably are as arrogant as Joel since they think "well if my pastor is famous and rich, then what does that say about me"? "well I guess I have picked the right pastor therefore I am also smart and successful"!! What a bunch of idiots, why would anyone give money to another person to tell them what the bible says??? Just read it for yourself, and then live your life any which way you see fit. No where in the bible does it say you have to submit any money to a preacher and his collection of suits. wake up people.

I don't think that people think that the devil has a red cape. But yes, many will not recognize him. But a good indicator will be that he will be the person trying to turn people away from God, His Word and His will. He will be anti-Christ (anti-God) and try to make people think that there is something wrong with being a faithful follower of God. He will actually fool many and there will be a great apostasy (which has already begun).

This scripture has been quoted several times here on this topic. I have yet to see the full context of what this could mean from a Spiritual Perspective. We should pray on it and have Spiritual insight to see that a man who stores up all his riches for the purpose of building more riches is of big ego, and is out of proportion to that of the camel with a Hump. In Joel's case, he could well have two big humps of riches stored up. The humps will also not pass through the doors of the temple, likely because people at the time were shorter as well. Likewise, how small does one have to be to fit through a needle, for neither a camel nor man would ever fit through the eye of one. The path is NARROW , when fpllowing our Lord Jesus on the Path of Righteousness. In all they ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct thy path. I do not know if Joel is being directed by Jesus and the Holy Spirit or not, but simply watching for 3 minutes tells it all. Hardly any word of God in his stories, just light jokes and what last night, his swimming pool?! Seriously? He is higher than a kite on himself, that is more of what this scripture means. I do not buy into folks saying they do not like the gripes about his preaching. Why? They do not understand that what I'm writing is not a complaint about him as a person, it is about all the other being misled. How? What of the Word do we learn by watching him? Maybe one scripture or two over 30 minutes on TV. Turn on Joseph Prince. He provides instruction and Knowledge and wisdom. I get no wisdom from Joel, just the same old theme over and over again. Fake smiles and what looks like a plastic surgery smile pasted on the face. If this is judgement, it is righteous judgement to steer . The Crystal Cathedral came down after many many years...Joel is coming down ..I Truly Hope not...But I do hope that Joel will grow up.and start speaking God's word rather this Joel's Word.

Last night was my first and last time watching Piers Morgan. He talks way too much and doesn't let his guests talk. He kept pressing Joel and Victoria to say things they wouldn't say. Had he read any of Joel's books? It was an embarrassment to watch.

AS far as the camel and the needle, that means it is very difficult to avoid the problems and temptations of wealth. And as for the money is the root of all evil, Correction, the love of money is the root of all evil. Last but not least, getting paid for preaching is priescraft, plain and simple.

Folks, listen. I see a few types of comments. A) Judging Joel, B) Judging each other, C) Defense and Attack on each other's beliefs, and D) Standing on the WORD. Listen to me brothers and sisters, the beautiful part about life is our ability to have free will. YOU have the choice of one of two families – The family of the world, or The family of Christ. That part...there is no doubt (can agree to disagree if you choose, it is your free will and right to do so). However, as Christians, we are called "NOT" to judge, that includes Joel, Bill Graham, Barack Obama, and each other. Why are you allowing such a post to cause such comments of hatred, malice, envy, jealousy and self-promotion to come from your mouths? I see this from both families on this post. All of us must not judge, lest we be judged. Can gay people be Christian, yes. Can Murderers be Christian, yes. Can Adulterer's be Christian yes. Can Liar's be Christian, yes. Why? Because there is a difference between the "sin" and the "belief". What perplexes folks is that they judge the "act of sin" and make a determination on their destination simply based on "sin". We are called to crucify this sin every day. Do any of you think Paul, Peter, or John never sinned again after Christ left? Of course they did. This is why Christ was the ONLY non-sinner. In other words, no one should judge a gay person any different than someone who lied or is an idolater. Sin is Sin. We are called to be pacifists, and to stray from sin, and it is a life long commitment. We are called to love, not hate. Only The LORD can judge. May The LORD be praised, any know that I hate no one on this forum.....regardless if you hate me.

Anyone else find it a contradiction when Olsteen was asked how he felt about capital punishment and he was for it but right after that, he believed everyone deserved a second chance (referencing Michael Vick)? If you believe in capital punishiment, I don't believe you're thinking of giving anyone a second chance... I'm sure he (like everyone) has their lines that shouldn't be crossed but I wish Pearce dug deeper or at least picked up on that so he could elaborate.

      Lizzy,
Him making you feel better about yourself will not get you to Heaven. And that is the problem. That is why he is so popular. I understand the world is horrible right now and people need hope, but this is not the person to give it to you by lying to you and not preaching the truth according to God. You don't need Joel. You need Jesus and Joel does not preach Jesus or most anything else either actually found in the Word of God. He is not a man of God, he is simply a motivational speaker using God to fill his bank account.

Joel Osteen is NOT a preacher or a pastor in the name of Jesus Christ. He is a great TEACHER and INSPIIRATIONAL SPEAKER. If he were a minister of the True Gospel, he would preach the Saving Knowledge of God and His Son brought to us as a gift paid for by Christ's blood, which INCLUDES recognizing and denouncing all sin as defined in God's Word, and THEN going on to challenge the lost to accept salvation and REPENT FROM SIN and LIVE A RIGHTEOUS AND HOLY LIFE before God and men. I appreciate that he does not "bash" the sinner, but it is sin itself he should DEFINE AND PREACH AGAINST. By being careful not to step on any toes, he is not a soul winner and he guarantees himself the popularity to bring in his as yet secretive but acknowledged huge salary, whether from books or anything else. That which we gain here on earth for some people is ALL they will ever gain; no reward in Heaven as their rewards were given here. It should ALL be ABOUT JESUS, who He is, what He did, what He is going to do. Not about PROSPERITY in this life on this earth. "For me to live is Christ; and to die is gain," said the ultimate Preacher and Soul Winner, the Apostle Paul. Who had NOTHING on this earth, but a reward beyond imagining in Heaven.

Piers – I'm enjoying your new show. And also enjoy that you are asking challenging questions to your guests. I have a recommendation for a guest that may be able to offer some substance for some of the difficult questions you were attempting to engage Joel on. I would recommend that you invite Timothy Keller (pastor of Redeemer Church – I believe it may be one of the largest churches in NYC). If he agreed, I guarantee you would have some good discussions regarding some of the topics you were attempting to discuss with Joel. Tim Keller also is the author of one of the NY Times best sellers – The Reason for God. Well worth reading.

True Christians – be light to the world and pray for the nation daily, make a difference through the Holy Spirit who dwells in you.
Everyone else, debate until there’s nothing left in you to debate and then come back to the point A, same questions, accusations, help Piers get rich and CNN bring back their ratings. Let your kids play video games while you spend hours in front of TVs, so that when they grow up they’ll be completely detached, place your old selves in nursing homes and never visit you. But in truth, we all need to quit wrangling on each other, and these TV pastors, leaders of mega churches, etc. We should truly focus on our own lives, how to live them according to The WORD, and be examples (Children of Light, Ephesians) to our communities. Actions speak louder than words. Let us pull the plank our of our own eyes before focusing on the "splinters" in our brother's eyes.

The true Gospel soon became hidden after the death of Christ Gal 1:6. Gospel means Good Tale.
Satan was allowed to deceive the whole world Rev 12:9 until the woman of Rev 12 delivers the true word John 1:1 to the world at the heel of time Gen 3:15. The heel of time is of the feet of Dan 2:33 a time not long before the return of Christ.
It is written in Jer 31:22 that the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth, a woman shall compass a man. The man compassed is Satan (Isa 14:16).
The word is delivered by the prophet of Acts 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; (him) shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
The word (him) is Strong's #846 and means she.
What was Moses like? Num 12:3. Moses and Elijah are together in scripture they are both in one prophet Luke 1:17 at the heel of time. This true word turns the hearts of the Father’s to the children.
I was raised up of the brethren of the lukewarm church Rev 3:16-17; the last church before the return of Christ. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people Acts 3:23.
The true word is now going to the whole world as a witness at http://minigoodtale.wordpress.com and at http://thegoodtale.wordpress.com and at http://thegoodtale.blogspot.com

Preachers shouldn't enrich themselves at the expense of God. The role of the preacher is to spread the word of God and practice what Jesus did. Leave your riches behind and serve. Unfortunately they use God to enrich themselves instead of sharing the wealth to people who need food...Love should prevail over greed...

Why is that what was once called covetousness, was then called greed, then materialism, and today good management, or worse yet "god's blessing"? For "the abudant life does not consist of that which a man possesses" for that which he believes he possesses, in Truth possesses him ;-(

And what is "good" about the destruction of Creation(air, water, land, vegetation, creatures) or the perversion of that which is Spirit(Truth, Light, Life, Love, Peace, Grace, Mercy, Faith, Wisdom,,,,,,, ALL that is Truly GOOD)?

Osteen along with many in American are in love with money, even though they may not see or believe it, but their actions show it. The first thing children are taught to do after high school by society and parents alike (Christian parents too) is to go to college with an end result of making money and getting a job.

But Scripture says Mat 6:33 "...seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." How many parents (especially Christian parents) are encouraging their children to take four years after high school to study Scripture and find the narrow path that leads to life? Not that many. Many push their children to immediately attend college so they can start making MONEY.

The love of money runs deep in America. The churches are no different.

I've met church leaders that have cashed in their millions to help their church and community. They are now living modestly and reaching out to many without the fancy attire. I do not think they (Osteen's) can do the same. Challenge- live modestly and give most of your "blessed-riches" to the hungry in America and many other non-profit groups helping the cause (national debt, see if God blesses you again…trust in him?)….People that smile a lot or all the time may very well be due to cosmetics or a front to hide their true character (have met many happy people and their faces are not always trying to proof everyone else in the world they are happy). History has the verdict on “blessed-rich” sinners (aren’t we all). Hey Piers, keep it coming! You should have seats with built in thermometer, too much? (could be fun)

Osteen or other minister...or simply just plain pastors in any local church....they are blessed! they are serving God and they are being rewarded through their good job on being fishers of men which is the great commission. God created and own this world, why would He withheld all the riches and glory that His servants deserve. He is the Jehovah Jireh! God the provider... Before you judge any pastors I dare you to be a Christian first. True believing Christians are truly blessed they walk in poor and they all become opulent. Also Christians through the power of the Holy Spirit are gifted with discernment they can tell what is evil through the Holy Spirit,,,But you will not know that because obviously you have a different spirit. It remains just as The Messiah testified, "Woe unto you who are rich! for you have received your consolation." (Luke 6:24)

"And then The Messiah said unto his disciples, "Truly I say unto you that a rich man shall hardly enter into The Kingdom of Heaven". And again I say unto you, "It is easier for a rope to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into The Kingdom of GOD"." (Matthew 19:23-24)

"HE(GOD) has filled the hungry with good things(Truth, Love, Faith, Hope,,,,), and the rich HE has sent away empty." (Luke 1:53)

And today we have the rich believing "righteousness" is in giving half of what they are "worth" away ;-(

And The Messiah testified, "Whoever of you that does not forsake all that he has, he can not be my disciple".......(Luke 14:33)

Notice that everyone's using different Bible passages, all on the same theme. This is far beyond proof-texting – it's one of the major themes of scripture. There are literally hundreds of Bible passages discussing why we should not seek after money or hoard it, because money has always been and will always be one of the greatest idols drawing people's attention away from God.

Amen brother! Joel Osteen is simply pulling many scriptures out and taking them out of context to prove his point. Nowhere in the Bible do you ever find that Preachers are suppose to be living in Million Dollar homes. As a matter of fact we as Christians are suppose to be "good stewards" of God's money and use the majority of it to help the poor and needy. You find all throughout the Bible lessons on sharing the wealth of the rich with the poor. It is commanded throughout. Joel Osteen will have his payday soon! When this "motivational speaker," non-called preacher, finally stands before Jesus and gives an account of what he did with all that money he made running a business instead of a HOUSE OF GOD and spreading that false Prosperity Gospel I am sure that Jesus will say, "Depart from me you worker of iniquity I never knew you." He is not the only one however! Many of these so called men of God on Television driving their Royles Royces, fishing on their Million Dollar yachts, flying on their private Jets, staying in $4,000 dollar a night hotels, and living in these multimillion Dollar homes will all have to answer to God and I fully believe from my study of God's word they will all probably split Hell wide open.

I understood immediately the message Joel Osteen was relaying about insulting "his god" which is wealth. The insult is to your intelligence. Joel is little more than a motivational speaker with a twist. I wonder if that pretty woman would be sitting beside him if he were poor. A man like him would never give all his money away and it is sinful to live in a 12.5 million dollar home while 25% of Americans are facing foreclosures. @ Francis,,,that scripture is "it is easier for a CAMEL to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God". not that that matters I got your point in a round about way. Joel PREYS on peoples guilt feelings to make him prosperous, most think they can buy their way into heaven. Not to toot my own horn but I made a turkey and remembered a friend or two who might not have enough to eat so I took them food and then a friend working on his house, I took him a plate. I went to have a meal myself and realized the turkey was gone so I had a bowl of soup instead. That is Christianity.

Thankfully i am of The TRUE 1% who have received of The TRUE RICHES!

For it is quite evident that "The Abundant Life" is in and of The Spirit and has naught to with temporal treasures!

Truth testifies, "the abundance of a man's life does not consist of those things he possesses", and i believe those things possess the man, for "the deceitfulness of riches and the cares of this world choke The Word and It becomes unfruitful" ;-(

And why is it that some believe that a certain portion of this world is "good"? When "The Word of Truth clearly testifies, "The WHOLE(not just a portion) world is under the control of the evil one", "if any man loves this world The Love of The Father is not in him", and "whoever would be a friend of this world is the enemy of GOD"!

So it is that the brethren of The Messiah are but "aliens and pilgrims while on the earth" for their "conversation(Life) is in Heaven".......

And soon and very soon, each and every son of GOD is taken Home, Home at last!

    Till then:

Well "Holla" I wouldn't call the folks who attend his church and are giving to that church making him rich "buffoons" but I would say they are being greatly misled by Joel with his "prosperity gospel" message. The Bible is very clear that there will be "false preachers" who will preach a message that is designed solely to please the congregation. It also says that there will be "false preachers" who will be only interested in building their bank accounts. Joel fits into both of these categories. He will soon have his day however and have to stand before a Holy God and give a full account of the false messages he preached and why he wasted God's money on such frivolous monetary goods.I pray for him and my hope is that God will save him and lead him to start preaching the true gospel message of repentance some day before it is to late for him.

No my friend, Heaven does not cost anything at all! You cannot buy your way into Heaven. The only way into Heaven according to Jesus is through Him for He said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by Me!" If you do not accept Him as your Savior then you will never get into Heaven. Joel Osteen on the other hand needs to well understand what you said about the fact that he will burn in Hell someday because if he were truly a Christian then he would preach the truth instead of telling people that "He believes there is more than one way to Heaven and that he does not want to offend anyone by telling them the truth." Scripture firmly states that if you love the world, Joel's love of money and material things such as his fancy cars and the 12.5 million dollar home he lives in, then the love of God is not in you. This means that you cannot love money and love God at the same time and Joel states that he does. This means that he is not a Christian at all. His goal is to earn more and more and live a lavish lifestyle and that is totally against scripture for Jesus said, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon this earth where moths and rust corrupt but rather lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven where neither moths or rust can ever corrupt." Paul told Preachers to "Preach the Word in season and out of season. Reprove, rebuke and exhort with all long suffering and doctrine." However all Joel does is exhort or lift his people up each and every week trying to make them feel good and be happy about themselves. Therefore he is not preaching the "whole Gospel message of repentance from dead works and acceptance of Jesus" and that my friend will send him to hell because Jesus will tell him on the day of Judgement "depart from me ye worker of iniquity I never knew you!"

Having been truly awakened through years of suffering, I took 3 minutes to see that there is something 'not Righteous' about Joel. Not saying he does not inspire people, but inspiring people and doing God's work is two entirely different matters. Using feel good therapy under the guise of scripture is a sham. Honestly ask , what did I learn about the bible every time you watch him. People like him because he does all the talking, and the viewer does what? Nothing. Nothing but sit there, feel good, and then empty a few hours later or just waiting for the next 'fix'. His smile and motions, his body motion, looks completely manniquin . Glad he makes people feel good, but will at least listen to Joseph Prince from here on out, who outwardly does not want any money, is humble, and talks nothing but the word of God.

My son-in-law walked into Lakewood with me and after ten minutes turned to me and asked "Do you trust this guy?"
Everybody was hooting and hollering, the music was loud. I told him the last time I was in this building it was for a Bruce Springsteen concert. Everybody was hooting and hollering, the music was loud. I think Bruce had a better handle on God's word than Joel ever will.

Why do all you fools think that Osteen is in this racket for your benefit ? He is a master at what he does, lie
and cheat all the way to your pocketbooks. He is preaching false hope for you fools that follow him and think
that he is the best thing since sliced bread. He is nothing but a crook, like the rest of the preachers, and is a
master at it. Do not send your hard earned money to him, or the likes of him, spend it on yourselves and enjoy

Joel is not really a true minister of Christ because he is not even mentioning on how does Christ save His people as written in the bible. It is very clear in the bible that Christ established His church wherein He is the Head and the Saviour of it. Matthew 16:18, Acts 20:28 (Lamsa version).

I have to hand it to Mr. Osteen – he is very good a what he does – selling folks on a message that they all desperately want to believe in – that if they abide the teachings of the Good Book, that they will be blessed with prosperity, happiness and inner peace. This message is no different from a drug that makes you feel good – so you continue to consume it. The reality is that most people never experience the type of benefits that he says will come their way – but he always has a ready excuse – "We don't understand the mystery of god's ways". Aargument over. All BS.

Well I would not hand it to Joel Osteen because he preaches a prosperity gospel instead of the Truth of Bible Doctrine which is "Through much tribulation and suffering we shall enter into the kingdom of heaven." The Apostle Paul followed everything God instructed him to do but suffered through his entire ministry by being beaten, stoned, shipwrecked and without any monetary goods at all. Joel's message of prosperity is a false doctrine and the only reason he preaches it is to make people happy and make money to get rich and live in a 12.5 million dollar home. God help him to do what Paul instructed all preaches to do in the pulpit, "Preach the word be instant n season and out of season. Reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all long suffering and Doctrine." But I believe he has fallen into the last part of what Paul told Timothy. "For the time will come when people will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lust shall heap to themselves teachers, or preachers, having itching ears And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables" Finally Paul warns Timothy, a preacher himself, "But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry." Joel is leading his people into a false sense of security and is teaching them a doctrine of devils not True Bible Doctrine. Sure it makes them feel good but how many are really reaping the great success and wealth that he preaches and teaches. As far as I can tell he is the only one getting rich off his false teachings and feel good prosperity preaching.

Joel Osteen is a BLESSING and is inspiring people to live the life God has in store for them. Believe in DESTINY. All successful people believe they are destined for great things that is one of the qualities that makes them great. The pundits on this board cannot take a way the POSITIVE message that Joel is transmitting to the world. All the negative nellies out there will not change the fact that he is having a GREAT IMPACT for good. God bless Joel Osteen.

Well you go ahead and think that he is being a "great blessing" to those who he preaches to, but when he stands before Jesus and gives an account for only preaching "prosperity" and not preaching the whole counsel of the Word of God such as what Paul taught Timothy about such things as rebuking people for their sin, and reproving them because of the way that most people are living today, along with exhorting or encouraging them in times of need, then he will pay a great price. Also when all those who he "sugar coated" the Word of God too when he preached that never got saved because of never being convicted their blood will be on his hands when they go to hell because they never repented and were saved. As a matter of fact from what the Bible teaches he will be told by Jesus, "depart from me you worker of iniquity, I never knew you!!" As pastor's we are commanded to preach the "whole Bible," convicting parts along with the encouraging parts that will never get a person "saved" and Joel certainly never preaches any convicting messages. Therefore he is not following what God commanded all Pastors to preach! Therefore he is not, by his own admission, a God called Pastor. He simply took over his dad's church when he died and turned it into a place of business instead of a church so that he could preach people pleasing messages and get filthy rich. I would imagine his dad is turning over in his grave right now because he preached the "Word of God" with great conviction and compassion and saw many souls come to Christ through that preaching. "Feel Good salvation" is not true salvation! It takes a person being convicted that they are a sinner and lost and a repenting of their sins and through Joel's preaching they never are convicted in any way only "made to feel good!

After reading some of these comments I am just very saddened by so many so called believers who think that Christians have to be poor to be humble. These Christians really need to renew their mind with the word of God and stop being so critical of Joel and his blessings. The Bible says that the " Blessings of the Lord makes one rich, and he adds no trouble to it. The Bible also said God gives us the power to get wealth. Christians, you need your mind renewed with the word of God and get rid of all that criticisms! Get rid of the poor and broke mentality! In the Bible, David was highy blessed and favored by God, Abraham was blessed, Joseph was blessed, so why are you all so critical of Pastor Joel blessings. Pastor Joel Osteen REIGNS. He is the most encouraging and influential preacher in America. Thanks God for Pastors like Joel who just preach a word of encouragement and blesses me everytime I encounter some setback or difficulty. I pray that God blesses him and his family even more. So all you self righteous fools, if you dont have anything nice to say about Pastor Joel or any Pastor who are encouraging millions to live a Godly life and be super blessed please GO AWAY!!! Let Pastor Joel enjoy his blessings.

      Sister Joy,
Well my dear sweet friend you need to read and consult your Entire Bible concerning this issue and have your mind not only renewed but enlightened! Yes, God does give us the "power to gain wealth" and Jesus said He came to give us an abundant life! However we are given that ability to gain wealth to share is with others, not to use it to purchase 12 million dollar homes and fancy cars and clothes. As a matter of fact when God asked Solomon what he wanted in life most he did not ask for "great wealth" but the ability to lead and help God's people. God then told him that since he did not ask for wealth but wisdom he would give him great wealth. Secondly Jesus makes it very clear in Matthew 6:19, "Lay not up treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt.and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up treasures in Heaven, where neither moth or rust corrupt, and where thieves do not break through and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." 1 Timothy 6 6-10 teaches, "But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." No where does it teach that we are to be poor, that is not the point! But it does teach in many places that the Ministry is not about gaining wealth, it is about feeding the church with the word of God through rebuke, reproof and exhortation. 2 Timothy 4:1-5 is very clear. Paul taught Timothy his son in the faith this lesson about what he should do as a young Pastor. "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry." Joel does nothing but "exhort" and encourage his people which is dead wrong! Sure it makes them feel good every Sunday, but it certainly is not going to help them grow as a believer. Hebrews 4:12 teaches us "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Yes some encouragement is wonderful but it should also be mixed with reproof and rebuke at times because only encouragement, though it may seem pleasant at the present, will not change a persons heart. They must be convicted to be saved.! Also if you will look closely at the qualifications of a Pastor in 1 Timothy 3:2-7 you will find that A Pastor is not suppose to preach to get wealthy. Listen closely! "A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre;(money) but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil." Also Jesus made it very clear that to be great in Heaven "we should be a servant" not someone who "Reigns." He may reign as the "greatest Preacher" down here but I can assure you that when he stands before Jesus Christ that Great Shepard of all Pastors, he will be at the bottom of the pile! God hates "prideful people" and Joel is one of the most prideful people I know! Jesus told His disciples to "carry nothing with them as they traveled to preach and teach the word" that the people they met would supply their needs when they arrived. I realize that you "Joel supporters" can dig out and manipulate scripture to make him sound like he is doing the right thing in this life but I can assure you that if you will read and study "your entire Bible" you will find out that he is not what God approves of in any shape, form or fashion. All I can say is "you will all find out what God thinks of Joel when He finally has to give an account of his service or lack there of to Jesus Christ himself. I can assure you based on "the entirety of scripture" he is dead wrong in his preaching and the way he gains his massive wealth off God's work!

Joel Osteen was born into wealth. His father was wealthy and he was raised in an upper class neighborhood. I think his earthly fahter blessed him from the very beginning instead of his heavenly father. It is easy to preach to others about God's blessings when you start out wealthy and have been given everything. And his stories of overcoming obstacles are far fetched. To tell everyone how he and his church had to have faith in order to grow is far fetched. It takes less faith to grow if you are wealthy then if you have bad credit and have lost everything. When you are blessed it is easy to be grateful and share with others. I think he is a bit hypocritical to be giving lessons about prosperity when he doesn't know what it is to want. Other then that, he is a very eloquent speaker.

Ya you are right Bro. Carl. I am a Baptist Minister of some 25 years and I personally had my car hit by a train and was in such bad shape I lost everything, I was in a flood and lost everything, I was in another car wreck in 2000 and lost everything and up until this day I do not own a house of my own have very little money in the bank but still love the Lord with all my heart and preach His Word on a regular basis. I know what it is like to have a lot and then have nothing! Joel doesn't! All he knows is prosperity and that is all he preaches to his people. However I bet if you talked to many of them you would find out that their lives are nothing like Joel preaches they will be when they are a believer. As a matter of fact when you look at the Disciples they all lived by faith and trusted God to meet their needs without storing up any wealth at all. Joel will give an answer for the way he is living one day soon to Jesus Christ himself!

i believe if we all pray and meditate on the word of God the holy spirit himself will teach us the right things to do. it doesn't matter how long one has been in the ministry but as the Bible says the first shall be the last. each one of us has different levels of grace and gifts. if God has given Joel the gift to be a motivational speaker no one has the right to question him. people may say he does not preach from the bible and others but remember God always has messages for his people no matter where or when. we are all saying he should use his money to help the needy because he is rich. let's ask ourselves how much do we give to help the needy? we don't have to wait to be rich before we can one another. there are times i give the money i have left in my savings to help some people by the grace of God. It is not stated in the Bible that we should force ourselves to be humble when one is rich; but one you have Jesus in your lives there is no way way you are going to do things you are not supposed to do.Jesus used wealth to describe. Remember in the bible it says money does all things and it also says the Love of money is the root of all evil. The houses Jesus went into to dine were all rich people's houses. i doubt if it was to be a poor person's house the owner would say there is not enough to share so he should leave. Abraham was the richest man on earth but God called him his friend.David became a king with riches but he was the one after God's heart. All these people found favor before God. let us be like the Corinthians who listened to the gospel and went back to make research in the scriptures to verify the truth and pray in the holy spirit. if we do i believe we will not find ourselves in confusion and no one can come up to you with false gospel.Amen.

Jesus said,'Walk in my footsteps. I believe for myself each day to be like my lord jesus. I just love the Lord and when I lay my head down on my pillow at night,I tell him how much I love him and forgive me for my thoughts that cause my mouth to speak or my mind to think anything that hurts the Holy Spirit. Why do we keep thinking we understand the mind of God,when he says that his ways our not our ways and our ways not his, so he sent his son and his word. I say with a spirit of love that I pray for every single person be filled with Gods wisdom and discernment to eat the word of God. Our Lord see's our hearts knows before and after (ALL IS ALL) This Joel Osteen is a wealthy man O.K. pray for him ,because our time here on earth is but a VAPOR!!!! And ETERNITY is at the footstep of ALL MANKIND. In myself I don't care for Joel Osteen i always get a funny feeling listening to him.But I do know Jesus and he said by my spirit you shall know them. In all that I have read in all the comments are folks who care. Hey have Faith Gods got our backs and he knows our hearts whether we have 1$ or 40 Million and we are all called to get to know Jesus Christ. I know for me that God knows what is going on and he is the only Judge as much as I see whats happening and would like to throw eggs at Mr.Osteen and shake him. I have to remember that God the father Jesus and the Holy Spirit will only allow so much in a man or woman who is leading his flock down the wrong path for his wrath is far worst than anything you or I could even imagine. Oh It is a whole different story when a man is really called to serve God than when a man self appoints himself, There is the danger, cause when you know the Holy spirit ,God has moved on you to preach the word and bring his children to him,you really don't care if you are sleeping on the floor in a Hut or in a bed cotton sheets cause you are so full of his love and all you want to do is give so others will know his love and all that goes along with him in fact if you are really called money is a tool to feed the poor so when there bellies are full they can than hear the Word of God without the spiritual food what are we. So when I hear a person has millions stored up for himself and has a Church and says he loves God I know in my heart this is a lie.

Only the work we did will be rewarded in earth in basis of Christ .Money is a reward by God, if you are thinking that there is sort of special reward in the heaven then that is obviously not because if there is ,someone must have lesser compare to others and there will be levels of happiness which is not true. Prosperity is a good thing , God's blessing is more than abundantly not according to your needs. This means Pastor Joel is highly possible in the right track with God. If he is misleading God's people, he would not be able to impact so many lives .God would have stop him. Another thing is if u believe that he should at least donate 90% to the poor, then you have overestimate the power of money. What they really need is the bread of life , word of God, Jesus !!!

Bro. John you are exactly right my friend. Joel makes them "feel good" every week but there is little chance that his preaching will ever lead them to Christ because of the lack of conviction in his preaching. I feel sorrow for all those thousands of people who are being led astray every week because when they have to stand before Christ and have to give an account of their own lives they too will be lacking the one thing that will allow them to enter Heaven, a relationship with Jesus, simply because they were never taught that that is what they needed in life. Joel will be held accountable not only for his lack of preaching the word with conviction and truth but he will also be held accountable for all those church members who are sent to hell for their lack of faith. What an eye opening time that will be for Joel and all those who have supported him over the years.

Awesome website. In regards to the Osteens, who gives anyone the authority to judge people? God clearly states that He does not judge people based on their outward appearances like people do, but by their hearts. If anyone is going to criticize Joel or Victoria based on their income then that's enough evidence to state that the commentary is spiritually invalid. The apostles would travel town to town preaching the good news and encouraging people to live better lives by turning away from sin. Joel has a unique form of sharing the good news. Does that make his messages lose its credibility? Of course not! And as for his genuineness, I'm 100% sure God knows his intentions (his heart), financially and spiritually, better than any critic in this universe.

    God bless!

Well my dear friend, Jesus himself gives every Christian the right to "judge another believer with righteous judgement." This means that if you as a believer see another believer living a life that is not pleasing to God you have the right and responsibility to correct them so they might draw closer to God. Paul makes it very clear that Christians are responsible to reveal, or make known false teachers to the public and rebuke them sharply for their wrong teachings. It is not that Joel does not preach "some truth" he does! The problem with his teachings are they are incomplete! God is much more than a "loving God." He is also a "Burning fire," a "Wrathful God" and a God who holds all men accountable for the way they live their lives. As a matter of fact Paul says, "it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Paul instructed his son in the faith, Timothy, to "preach the word, in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke and exhort with all long suffering and doctrine." For he warns "that the time will come when people will not endure sound doctrine but will seek to themselves preachers who tickle their ears with only encouragement. The problem with most of you people who support Joel do nit even know your entire Bible, you only know parts that make Joel seem like a God called man which he never admits to be. Speaking of Jesus disciples, Jesus plainly taught His disciples not to take anything with them when they traveled to preach He told them the people would supply their needs when they arrived in their city. To show you where you are also incorrect Jesus plainly teaches "That a man's life does not consist of the things which he possess." He also told His disciples as well as you and I today "to not lay up for yourselves treasures upon this earth where thieves brake through and steal, but rather lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven where thieves do not brake in and steal and moths do not corrupt." I do not judge Joel on his wealth, I feel sorry for all the people who buy his false teachings, but I do know for a fact that he is not even coming close to the of being a man of God who preaches the whole counsel of the Word which is where he falls short.

Yes my friend, we do have the right to judge other Christians because Jesus said " Judge with righteous judgment!" What this means is every Christian has been given the right and responsibility to judge other Christians when we see them living wrong and go to them and help them get back in line with living a godly life. Jesus also said "Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth." Instead of coveting money we are told to "not lay up treasure in this world where moths corrupt and thieves break through and steal but lay up treasure in heaven." Again we are told that the rich are to give to the poor and needy and build up treasure in heaven and lay hold onto eternal life." Joel neither preaches the whole counsel of the Word of God nor does he give his money to the poor and needy instead he drives an expensive car, lives in a 4 million dollar home, spends money on keeping his wife in fancy clothes and jewelry and has never once admitted that he was "called to preach." Instead he claims "he took over the church for his dad when he died." Listen I am not going to "judge" Joel but I know from what the Bible teaches that Jesus will say to him on the day of judgement "Depart from me you worker of inequity I never knew you!"

My Take is...How can any Christian not be compelled to give to the needy around you, when you know God will take care of your daily needs...I dont get it....Maybe those that have wealth really dont trust God for their Daliy Provisions..I dont know..I Know Only for Myself.........Look at the Birds of the the air and the lillies of the feild...
