READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss will be guests on tonight's "Piers Morgan Tonight" and the twins portrayed by one actor in the Oscar-nominated "The Social Network" talked about their take on the film. "He definitely, I thought, captured two distinct personalities," said Cameron.
"There was a relief when it was over that our story was told, and we were portrayed, what we believe was a positive light," said Tyler. But as for a conclusion, the twins aren't settled: "We don't think the story is fully told yet." The full interview airs tonight as part of "Piers Morgan Tonight" at 9pmET/PT, along with Michael Oher (who the movie "The Blind Side" was based on).
When is the colin firth interview going to be on. You can show the social network twins, love gurus and the blind side stories, but not an interview with the guy who will probably win the oscar for best actor at this years academy awards.
Peirs just showed how spineless and a suck up to powerful people he really is. Every interview in which his guest was a star he wilted, afraid to ask a question. Even the kardashians intimitadated this little Brit. Ah but put a couple of guys who are not on his kiss butt list and he brow beats them with "how much to settle with zuckerburg" no less than 15 times. Seriously? Piers get a . Did he ask Oprah one tough question....ONCE? No. Why? I hope I needn't explain any further.
i absolutely agree!! i found him to be such a bully!! why is it a crime for privileged people to fight for justice? why was he going on & on about the money?? it was so painful to watch. Morgan thought he was being smart? well, he came out looking smug pathetic & bitter. He has no class at all.. he doesn't reflect the usual standard of CNN bcos he doesn't have the dignity or integrity like most;
Piers Morgan was totally obnoxious in that interview. He repeated the same irrelevant comments and questions over and over again. It became very frustrating. I came away from that interview with respect for the brothers, who were articulate and dignified, and decided last night was the last time I'll watch that clown Morgan's show. I agree with another commenter below - Morgan kisses up to celebrities, but since these guys aren't on the A-list, he thought he could bully them.
Most of these comments sound like they are made by the same 2 people!!!!! hahahaha There seems to be quite a personal attack on PM that repeats over and over and includes a lot of Brit bashing. I think the twins are angry blogging.
Boys, you were ill advisd to show your true selves on any show..........no one needs to make you 2 look bad.....you dropped the ball....you lost.....you did not create facebook.
Create something and carry through with your idea! Put all that energy to something good. After that interview I would be so surprised if you 2 do anything honorable with your lives......too bitter.
I saw you boys answer a lot of questions with nervous smiles and claims you dont know the answer. You tried to make it sound like it was your duty to sue but would not commit to donate any compensation to charity.
mmmmmmmm.....your true colors exposed.......greedy,silly,poor businessmen without paperwork!
Peter, I agree 100%. In addition, does Morgan research his guests at all before they air? I feel insulted listening to him. It's almost laughable. It is laughable!!!! I would love to see him interview a chimp.
I used to be afan of Piers Morgan. I think he should be removed as host of the previous Larry King Show. Larry King would never ask such pointed, repeated, nasty quesitons. There were 50 other things that come to mind to ask these young men. Like – do you feel the US Justice System is Fair?, What was your training really like for the Olympics? What has your experience been like at Harvard? What other interests do you have? What would you have changed about the movie "Social Network"? I was shocked at how mean spirited Piers Morgan was. Shame on him. I'll never watch the show again. People should refuse to be "guests" or "victims". That was crazy. Shame on CNN!
I'd like to add that I really would like to know more about the Winkelvoss gentlemen. I'd like to know what the rest of their educational paths will consist of. I would also like to know more about how they feel about betrayl of trust. Will they become lawyers? How did they become interested in their sport? What type of training do they have to endure....it's probably easier than resisting the temptation to slug PM. They were so well behaved in the interview w PM. They kept their composure beautifully. Will they go into politics? Good luck to the our wonderful Olympians. Please put your real story out there that is fact based and principal driven.
PIERS - PLEASE - STOP INTERRUPTING YOUR GUESTS INCESSANTLY !!!
Give them more than 3 seconds to answer. We tune in to watch the guests talk – not you.
First and last time I'll watch his show. It seemed like he was in grade school, ie: come on tell me, please tell me, tell me! MOVE ON! It's obvious they aren't and most likely can't comment on how much, let it go!!! what an A**! CNN really messed up when they hired him to take Larry's spot. From the people I've spoken with, they're not tuning in either...they are loosing alot of viewers.
Piers Morgan a bully? No, just boring! How many times can he ask the same question?
I was excited about Piers Morgan taking over for Larry King. I've had time to listen to a few minutes here and there, but last night I heard him interview Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss. Morgan sounded like an envious little boy. These men deserve to have a chance to have their case heard. Morgan kept coming back to the amount of money they would accept. Yes, of course, they want money. But how about plain old justice.
He didn't seem to build a rapport with the brothers. I believe he is trying so hard to conduct a hard line interview, but it failed.
Hooray for Piers Morgan! Finally someone to stand up to these idiotic brats. How dare they talk about honor and justice ? What have the Winklevoss' done for anyone but themselves ever ? Infact their intent was to bully Zuckerburg into working on their inept concept that was never going to be globally successful. They are right.. they have a lot to lose, especially when they are blinded by their own greed and they have not shown any example of "doing what's right" which is the standard they want ot hold everyoneelse to especially Zuckerburg but not themselves. I am embarrassed that they graduated from Harvard- I hope the judge throws them out of court. Oh I forgot they buy judges don't they.
Have to agree with that!
So. some friends in college come up with a great idea. Happens hundreds of times across the country. This is not exclusive to 'Harvard Yard".
Everyone has a great chocolate cookie recipe yes?
So, Famous Amos took the idea and made something of himself and the friends and family he consulted with to come up with the recipe didn't sue.
Poor twins are jealous that a single, average looking chum took their shared idea and made billions! In the end looking as fools on nationwide television.
Yes, please tell us when the Colin Firth interview will be on... Don't care to see Donny Deutsch give love advice... I'm in the advertising business and he's an idiot! Also, Piers... please stop asking people how much money they make. It is rude and stupid. It is the only thing I don't like about you. Stop obsessing about money, just because you're in America now. Please!
Well said Cynthia!
Wouldn't it be refrshing if Mr. Morgan let someone finish a sentence? He is so rude and constantly interupts his guests.
I'm SO glad it's not just me! You'd think his producers would enlighten him on letting people give a complete answer to his questions!
I just watched the show today... I must say that I don't know why CNN has given this man a show. He is a bully and he's telling the twins that they will be boring if they don't say an amount they want to settle with Mark. Pierce is the one that makes a person not want to watch the interview, why didn't he just get over it when they said they didn't want to answer the question. Won't watch his show again unless he changes his tactics, Where is Larry King?
I was just tweeting about that! THe guests cannot get a word in edgewise! Everytime they start to answer his questions, they get 5 words in, and he interrupts them! Where can we write this so that Piers sees it?
I had to turn off the TV after only 10 minutes of PM's interview with the Winkelvoss twins. Piers Morgan's constant interrupting, plus asking a question but not allowing his guest to answer is intolerable! Way too aggressive for me...
When Morgan listens and responds, the interview is so much more interesting. When he doesn't listen, it's boring.
You mean he's actually listened to someone?!
Awesome to see Twins get a forum t tell the real story. Except they didnt, they got hit by a TRAINWRECK Called PIERS MORGAN!!!!!!!!! He should stick to the Forbes most influential folks to Kiss A$$,he did just fine with the Kardashians, that's your calling Piers! WW
Thanks to many of you for calling Piers out on not being an active listener. I like this show, and he has had provocative questions, but he cannot become the bulldog he referenced from Harvard business. If a producer reads this, my question for Trump is: Do you send your own Tweets or do you dictate them to an assistant? Piers is a master of Twitter.
I was thinking the same. Wish he would not interrupt so much. I'd like to hear the guests opinions.
Piers Morgan needs to shut his mouth and let his guests speak. Is that an English thing or what? Doesn't he know that in America interrupting is considered rude? I get really nervous each time I watch him interview someone – he is very manic!
Absolutely agree with you. I had to turn off the interview I was so aggravated by Mr. Morgan's constant interruptions to the replies to his question.
It was really bad, but if you want to see what' really bad watch O'Reilly interview our President. He interrupted about every 20-30 seconds. No class at all. No matter what your political preference is, that interview was the worst.
I watch every night and was really annoyed that he kept badgering the Winkelvoss twins about how much money they want to settle. He wouldn't let them finish a complete thought. It was a rushed and rude interview and I'm surprised they didn't walk out. They are a class act and he crossed the line. The fact he didn't have the decency to respect the fact that they would not answer the question was crossing the line.
I thought they would walk off, too. It just showed that we have some fine Olympians who probably do an excellent job representing our country at their sporting events. Piers had absolutely no class. He should offer them an apology. He treated them terribly.
THANK YOU! I just finished watching another annoying interview and was thinking the same thing. Geez, let the people answer the questions without interruption.
YES! I came on here JUST to comment about how ANNOYING he is by constantly interrupting the guests. I would like to hear what the guest has to say and let them finish a sentence. You took the words out of my mouth! I actually got so mad that I had to change the channel. I wonder how the guests thought of that interview.?! Piers, put a sock in it for a minute... !
Wow! I never post on these blogs but that interview was so incredibly bad! He wouldn't let them get a word out. I would have liked to hear what they had to say but Piers would not let them complete a sentence. He's no Larry King that's for sure. They withstood his rude bullying and did not compromise their position. We won't be watching him again.
I was thinking the same thing – he interupts people when they are speaking.
I found this thread by typing "Piers Morgan constantly interrupts guess", after watching the Winklevoss "interview". I've been extremely irritated by any of the interviews I've seen, but tonight had to be the worst one. I think he needs Bill Maher on the show to set him straight… I'm pretty sure he would “tell him like it is”…
I remember Larry King once saying that the secret to his longevity was that he always let the guess speak, recognizing that the show was about his guess, not about him. I’m starting to miss his erratic questions… We could at least hear the answers…
Piers... we don't care to hear your opinion about everything. But if you insist, at least have the decency to let your guess complete their sentences.
Just went on the harvard.edu site and at the bottom of their home page it suggests you find them on facebook!! How ironic ...
I give up.....is NO ONE with any sense at CNN is telling Mr. Morgan to quit interupting his guests? I can't watch anymore, it is SO irritating.
@Cindy...thank you!!! Piers asks good questions, but LET the guests speak! Tonight with these guys, last nite with Huffington and AOL...and the list goes on...
@Piers...2 ears, 1 mouth...please act accordingly...
I watched for the first time tonight and will never watch this stupid program again. I wonder if Piers knows how he presents.: boorish, ignorant, unsophisticated, less educated than his guests, lacking in any semblance of decorum, and even obnoxious at turns. The twins were complete gentlemen, and he could have learned some manners from them. He certainly rubs me the wrong way. I would love to see someone correct his manners every time he is out of line. That's the kind of guest he needs, in order to grow as a person. I would have no patience whatsoever for him.
PLEASE LISTEN TO ALL THESE SOON TO BE FORMER PM WATCHERS,STOP INTERUPTING YOUR GUESTS!!!!!!!!
Wow.. Tried to watch this episode tonight.. I can't believe how Piers Morgan can't stop yammering long enough to hear answers to the questions he asked. He asks a question, the guys get part way through an answer and he jumps in and starts rambling on and on.. or arguing what they're saying or simply just talking to hear his own voice. I realize they might not have answered all questions very well (like not admitting they're suing for the money).. but holy cow, he is seriously a bad interviewer if he can't let the people answer questions. Why not just have an editorial/opinion show and not have people on if you're not going to listen to them! :/
I agree with John. Morgan should shut up and let his guest talk. It is most irritating.
He is rudest interviewer ever! All he does is interrupt the guests when they are trying to get a complete sentence in! It is appalling! I agree- don't ask questions if we can't hear the answers in their entirety! How can we get Piers to realize he is doing this and it is annoying?
PM needs practice interviewing. Piers, stop repeatedly interrupting your guests three words into their answers to your questions. What happened to English manners? Sorry, but I don't think youll last. I miss larry king!
I totally agree with Daniel and Tina.
Pierce Morgan has to go to school to learn how to conduct an interview.
It's so annoying and disruptive for the viewer to hear Pierce interupt the guests constantly...
I don't understand why he asks a question and never has patience to hear the answer.
The producers of this show should take note of this and act acordingly.
Watching the Winklevoss interview right now.....someone in charge needs to tell Mr. Morgan to stop talking and let someone else talk. I do not want to hear him, I want to hear the guest. Very, very bad interviewer!
Just watching the Winklevoss interview. I have watched a few interviews with Morgan. When are these interviewers going to understand that we are not interested in hearing what they have to say but instead, what the guests have to say. Morgan constantly interrupts. I watch interview shows to hear what the guests have to say, not the interviewers. Why doesn't Morgan just have himself as a guest so he could not only ask all of the questions but give all of the answers. If you put a clock on who talked more I think Morgan would win by 4:1. It would save a lot of money.
Agreed, John. Piers, trust me, I want you to succeed. Could you please shut up and let your guests speak?!!! You are constantly interrupting them and completing their sentences. Such a pity... The Winklevoss Interview could've been great...
STOP interrupting your guests! We want to hear what THEY have to say!
I have watched the Winklevoss interview for 20 minutes and as usual Piers' interruptions continue. He also talks so fast that at times I have problems understanding him. Can't the producers point this out to him? I want to hear what his guests say but Piers continues to dominate the conversation.
I can't believe these two...they have enlightened me with nothing "new" on the story...they are coming across as whiny, spoiled and full of themselves. C'mon!...Zuckerberg implemented their idea...just take your money and move on..
Billions for implementing their idea for which they are paid a few millions. Doesn't add. Sorry.
well obviously they needed him more than he needed them...ideas are a dime a dozen, it is taking it to the next step that is tough
Having a good idea is way different than implementing one ... lots of good ideas never make any money ... they got more than they ever would have. If they are so smart they would have created Facebook long before...
They never had the chance to implement their idea, because while Mark Z. was supposedly working for them and implementing their idea for them he was stealing it for himself.
I almost cannot stand to watch Piers Morgan because of his continual interruptions. He asks a question, often in a cryptic manner, and then rarely listens to the answers.
Piers, please stop talking over everyone and let the people you are interviewing get their thought expressed and let them finish their sentences.
Piers – shut up, would you – let them answer your question.
You couldn't be further off base. Obviously you are not a principled individual... millions, billions, trillions has nothing to do with why these guys are taking Mark to task and holding him accountable.
You ask a question and then serve up your own pompous drivel, without so much as a chance for them to respond.
Can't wait til your canceled.
Jeez Piers! Interview people. Don't argue your pre-conceived point over and over and over again. You were a real pill tonight and it wasn't pretty. Your job isn't to judge and prosecute and that's what you were doing tonight.
Neither of the twins was able to complete one single thought, due to your constant interrupting. It was painful to watch. It made me angry! You'd better treat your guests with a little more respect, or you will soon be off the air.
Well pointed out, Judy. It is sooo annoying.
I want to hear the rest of this interview, but my husband got up & left the room. He couldn't bear to hear Piers Morgan interrupt his guests anymore. I've watched him since he began and basically like him, but he should talk less and listen more. I'm getting tired of it.
Why must Piers interrupt his guests. They can hardly finish a sentence without him jumping in. It is sooo rude and distracting. I am often left wondering what the rest of their thought was.
Piers- You ask good questions. Now let your guests ANSWER them.
Get rid of this arrogant clown and bring Larry back. He talks like he's jacked up on caffeine or bennies. Last time I'll tune in to him...
I really wish I could've heard a single word of what was during this interview but Piers interrupts every sentence and the twins never get to finish a single one! Give me a break! Not a good way to interview in my opinion.
piers needs to shut up, quit interrupting and listen to his guests. He had the winklevoss brothers on and they were interesting but piers kept interrupting. He kept asking the same questions over and over and would not let them talk. come one man.....two ears, one mouth....listent and quit being so rude!!!! i love cnn but will stop watching if piers does not get his act together...where is larry king when you have great guests like tonight. larry, call in please and teach this guy how to do an interview.
I am watching the interview this minute-–Piers, would you shut the * up???? Let your guests TALK!!! I want to hear what THEY have to say, not what you have to say. Didn't your mum ever tell you it was RUDE to interrupt????
The Winklevoss men have only just begun....If their lawyers are worth anything they will take that settlement and turn it one its head...Piers, get a grip...You keep asking how much did the players get as if that's the litmus test for the success of the overall project which as the guys said includes "process" as well...Really, Piers, stealing ideas is NOT success...You would do the rest of us a favor to acknowledge these realities.....Stop with the good looking, how bad are your lives then with 65 million....Stop...as if that's what the foundmental contribution to generations to come...Stop with their privileged background nonsense...and Piers do your homework, the research...that you didn't know their background is quite ridiculous....In my opinion, I hope the Winklevoss' not only get their own company back from the settlement..I hope the case is won on the basis of a "stolen" idea...Not this obsured thought that Zuckerberg came up with a better idea....the idea, though well along in its development by the Winklevoss' oh course it wasn't complete...that Zuckerberger stole the idea and added to what anyone whose ever come up with an original thought knows is not a complete idea until the originators finish it...Zuckerberber swooped in and stole it 3/4rd's of the way through...Respect that???? I don't think so...Piers, tell the accurate story..and again, get your facts straight by doing your homework....What's next????????? Winning the lawsuit, get the company back and if Zuckerberger were a real man he would stand up to what is right and make his legacy proud ,,,,at this point his behavior was "disrespectful. Stop with the money Piers...get the company back ..its not just a dollar sign...Model what's right!!!!!!!!!!!1
The twins were only going to use Mark to get their idea going and then were going to stab him in the back! They are spoiled kids who always got things their way and for once in their lives they were outdone and out smarted. Nobody was their to bail them out of this unfortunate event. Get over it; you don't always get things your way. I cannot stand the "well-to-do" social group who have always been handed more opportunity than the rest of us. Take your money and go out and do great things like you apparently already did with facebook. The best you could come up with is another social media site....come on!! That's like edison coming up with a 40 watt light bulb after he already invented the 60 watt bulb and calling it a GREAT idea. Get over yourselfs, you lost this time.
Piers was too biased tonight. I think he has a misunderstanding of the law and I felt was very unfair to his guests. They needed a corporate contract lawyer on the program with the twins to explain the law. I also think being English does not help. Justice in England is elusive and many people do not bother with it, hence his dismissal of it. He clearly thought the twins should not bother continuing with their case. This is what intellectual property is all about! What if Piers wrote a book and someone stole it and put their name on it before it was published? I do not think he would be happy, particularly if it was a bestseller.
No one mentioned that Mark Zuckerberg nearly got kicked out of Harvard for stealing students' personal data.
Piers, I have enjoyed some of your shows but you were way off base tonight. Listen to these guys, quit interrupting them. For God sakes, they got screwed in business by a crooked partner. They have every right to go to the wall with their claim and prove their case. Your questions were annoying and ridiculous. Bad, real bad Piers :(
i think Piers' interruptions are rude and a sign of Piers' lack of confidence in his interview skills. Terrible and unfortunate because these boys are a dynamic duo.
Totally agree with the above comments and logged on to say the same. Will someone PLEASE tell Piers to STOP interrupting the guests?? It drives me absolutely NUTS. He is NOT interesting. We GET that he is trying to point out that The Winkelvosses are handsome and wealthy. We get it. SHUT UP and let them speak. He did the same thing to Dan Rather AND even interrupted Oprah. I, for one, am done watching. And I thought the Brits were so polite.
I agree! Until I (hopefully) read that Piers is no longer on CNN, I am done! The Winklevoss brothers were polite and articulate. Piers appeared to be angry and resentful and totally oblivious to the fact that it is NOT the Piers Morgan Show. Come on CNN. Replace him with someone else. He's horrible!
I really have tried to allow Pierce Morgan into my home but after this interview I'm done. Find someone else for this time slot or I'm calling the cable company and cancelling service!
Why are you wasting your time interviewing these twins!!!! Facebook, harvard Connection were not original ideas. MySpace, friendster, other social networks just like Facebook existed long before. Mark zuckerberg just did it better than them. These are 2 spoiled brats who weren't smart enough to get this going. They weren't even paying him to work with them. Spoiled brats!!!!
It's typical in startups not to be paid in cash, and instead get a share of future revenues.
I've given you a week, Piers. I can't stand it anymore. You jump all over your guests' attempts to talk; they can't establish any narrative line. I mean who are you interviewing, them or you? I tune in to hear them,
It's clear that neither PM nor his producers read these comments. The issue re his constant interruptions has been noted over and over again...he's getting worse, not better. He needs to go back and watch a few Larry interviews to see a pro.
Piers Morgan sucks as an interveiwer. Would you please stop interrupting the guests, let them answer your questions!
Piers, you need to stop trying to be the hard-hitting "news man" and let your guests talk. Enough already trying to get a sound byte that you can use.
It'd be great if Piers stopped constantly interrupting the Winklevosses and let them speak. I think everyone that tuned in is much more interested in their point of view than Piers' monologue.
Also VERY rude to keep treating them like spoit rich kids... these boys went to Harvard, had a great idea, are Olypmic athletes... Extremely annoying to watch Piers ask "how much do you want": when they obviously don't want to answer... when is Larry back??
This is my first time watching Piers Morgan on CNN. I am shocked at his incompetence. He rarely formulates an intelligent question, and his responses and interruptions are almost invariably non-sequiturs. He comes off as an ignoramus, narcissist, and buffoon.
I've just gotten on the side of the Winklevoss'es.
ps...where's larry king when we need him!
I am a fan of Piers....really I am. However, I cant believe the way he interrupts his guests. I am watching the Winklevoss interview and turned it off 20 minutes in because he wont let them answer and basically is answering the questions for him based upon the research he has. They are currently trying to tell him they didnt get 60 million in cash, and he never let them answer. I dont like them, but I actually felt sorry for them for not getting to tell their side of the story. I am sure its hard enough to be on tv talking about one of the most popular people on the planet. Piers, I wont be watching any further, stop interrupting!!!!
These twins are 2 spolied brats who have no rights to FB... Long before Facebook existed ... there was MySpace, Friendster... FB, Harvard Connection ... were not original ideas. Mark Zuckerberg was better at marketing these ideas. They weren't even paying him to work with them!!!! These are 2 spoiled brats that did not get there way!!!! They said mark Zuckerberg needs to grow as a person ... no ... they need to grow and live in reality ...
I'd love to really hear the Winklevoss twins. Arrogant Piers is not allowing any attention on anyone except himself...ditch him, CNN. He's not worth your investment. He's a mess.
We are loyal and avid CNN junkies. However, we are very disappointed with Piers Morgan. His interviewing skills are unsettling. He asks some decent questions, but doesn't let his interviewees answer before he's firing away with another one. He puts people on the defensive and it's uncomfortable watching him. Please take him off the air. Until then, we are switching channels during the 9:00 time slot.
Completely agree. I was cringing watching the interview tonight bc it was uncomfortable to watch how rude he is, how clearly he is trying to get a rise out of his guests, and how biased he is. Horrible interviewing skills.
Does Mr Morgan EVER stop interrupting and talking over his guests? VERY unpleasant!!!!
PM talks too much, and listens to little! So annoying!!!!
I agree with many of the previous posts. Very hard to watch and listen to Morgan's harsh rude constant interruptions. He came across as a bully. I really wanted to hear the twins speak. They continued to be polite and intelligent while Morgan was rude and arrogant. Please teach him, and if I may add, Nancy Grace, some manors.
Piers is being ridiculous. Interruptions (irritating as they may be) apart, is he saying that they should move on, let go of the money, their idea just because they had the fortune or opportunity to go to Harvard? How many great ideas is one person supposed to have? Bill Gates just had the one that made his life.
Piers, STOP INTERRUPTING! This show was so annoying! You ask questions and don't even let the Winkelvoss brothers answer! I want to hear what they have to say, NOT YOU!!!!
Piers Morgan talked through every one of their answers. He interrupted them consistently. We didn't get to hear the twins finish a sentence or a thought. It was quite annoying. Is Piers Morgan's interview style supposed to be "confrontational" because even if it is styled as such it came off as just plain annoying. We heard much more from him than we did from the twins. I don't think that's how an interview is supposed to work. The twins were just a sounding board for his spouting off. Why have them there if you answer every question for them.
I agree with every word.
Finally, Piers had a guest I wanted to see. Unfortunately (as I've read he's done with other guests) he talked over the Winkelvoss twins.
More irritatingly, he kept coming back to "are we supposed to feel sorry for you?" I am not sure if this was Piers' subconscious coming through, giving him a chance to compliment them on their good looks and fit bodies, but regardless of his motivation it was annoying, redundant, and immature. Did you not understand their answer the first time? They wanted justice. Your inability to accept this as a satisfactory answer speaks to your character, or lack thereof.
Haha. I think you are absolutely right. I rewatched parts of the interview and it does seem that Piers is really asking these questions from his own inner self. He kept asking about how many women they get and commented on how good looking them are, then he focuses on "do you think anyone really feels sorry for you"? Yes, it seems that Piers focused his own deep insecurities in a negative way on the Winklevoss twins.
Do you think we can start a social networking campaign to get piers fired if he insists on interupting his guests? (Luckily, he can't interupt this text!)
Sounds like Piers ought to go back to the Briitish idol program..Susan Boyle was his best work...and all he did was acknowledge talent...try applying those skills to the Social Networking scenario and call that guy that took over Brian Gumble's spot in the morning news program.....those folks do their homework before an interview...
PS I also agree with the other posts that Morgan should be replaced – and FAST.
Pierce, you have got to be one of the WORST tv hosts ever. I had to leave the room because I could no longer stand to listen to your inability to ask an original question. You must have asked the same questions and made the same comments at least 50 times. And not once did you even listen to the answer. You should not have your own show.
If you are going to ask questions that you expect an anser to then give your guest(s) the opportunity to answer without being interrupted. You are right on, rude, and disrespectful at the same time. It's up to you whether or not you last as a host.
Botched up interview.
Piers-You seriously need to STOP INTERRUPTING EVERYONE!
We want to listen to what they have to say!
What is your problem with these young men Piers???? What they were looking for in their partnership with Mark Zuckerberg was trust and integrity....every heard of that? My husband and I have been self employed for over 35 years and integrity in business is the most important part of success. Seems pretty obvious that Mark Zuckerberg does not have these values.
Dear CNN...Please tell piers Morgan to shut up and let his guests talk! Why does he asks questions and not let his guests answer?!? I have been watching the show since it started and he does this al the time! It's such a shame because his guests have been interesting. I want to hear what the guests have to say not what Piers has to say! It seems that Piers is more fixated on himself than on his guests! He is more concerned about getting his questions in than getting answers!
PIERS!!!! PLEASE BE QUIET and let your guests answer your wuestionf for God's sake!! You are a horrible interviewer! I hope you are reading all these posts. EVERY ONE OF THEM IS ABOUT YOUR CONSTANT INTERRUPTING! As soon as the guests start answering, they get 3 words sin, and you cut them off with a comment or another question before they even get a chance to say their answer to the first question!
As a long time television journalist I am disappointed with Pier's interviewing style. He is opinionated, biased, bullying his guests with questions then doesn't allow them to complete their answers ~ interrupts and appears angry and goading. Really unpleasant to listen and watch. You have lost this once commited viewer to your programming between 6 – 7 pm every evening. Bye.............
Wow, I can't belive how many times Piers interrupted the Winklevoss twins, they couldn't get a word in. Mr. Morgan needs to stop and listen to his guests!!!
The Pierce interview with the twins was disappointing. Pierce asked a question and then continually interrupted.
The guy was irritating to watch. He had two great guests on and made the interview about him, not them.
Pierce ask a question and shut the .... up! Let your guest answer.
It is not about you.
The twins are suffering from a major narcissitic injury and will never be happy with any result.
Why or Why won't he let the Twins talk. Piers this is the first time I watched your show and it will be the last time! You talk so fast and you can't even understand what you have said!! Poor, poor interviewer!!
The winklevoss twins didn't have any respect for mark zuckerberg; they were high on themselves and "their" facebook idea was another way they could feed their egos! They looked down on Mark Zuckerberg socially and were looking to use him as a doormat for their own personal success. If he would have helped them create the Harvard Connection they would have turned around and stabbed him in the back. Mark simply outsmarted the twins and its hard for them to swollow because they are used to getting everything they want in life like so many other "well-to-do" people/families.
Horrible interview. These guys are losers but Piers was awful. Deprogramming my DVR from recording show every night.
Omg! The Winkelvoss twins need to get over themselves! They go to mediation and accept an offer, and now that isn't good enough, but its not about the money so they claim! Give me a break! As Oprah said, Forgiveness is letting go of the hope that the past can be changed!! Let it go already and move on!!!!
Are you kidding Albert...???? They invited someone in on their idea...and got screwed...its not just about the 65mm its ownership of and idea....Mark contributed ..but only when he stole the "idea"...and did what he verbally agreed to do as a partner of the originators
Just watched the twins & saw the movie. Nothing could make me believe what they say. They are spoiled rich kids who are whining because someone beat them at their own game. They speak of ethics, fairness, what's right .. they obviously didn't go to Harvard long enough to learn that "that is the way it is" in big business! Their family is very rich & they get there by playing by the 'Mr Fairness'! I hope they get a re-hearing of their law suit & the judge feels the first settlement was too much!!
What does their family being "very rich" have to do with anything. I always find it interesting when people need to make such references; has more to do with them than anyone.
I guess piers morgan thinks if the Winklevoss twins were ugly and didn't have other talents and didn't come from a good family then it would be ok to still pursue this.
His wrong, What's fair is fair. It all comes down to be careful who u trust. It has nothing to do with someone being smarter than them as Piers stated more then once, but more dishonest than them. Good for the twins
– its a matter of principle. A lot of notoriety went with facebook – and all of the originators should have been able to share in it.
completely agree!! he kept on pointing out that they're already well off, and well "tailored"...what does that have to do with the topic on hand...
Also his most absurd question- Were you one hit wonders?! Is he for real? was that supposed to be funny?
I totally agree.
Wow, Piers Morgan was asking the Winklevosses twins a constant steam of irrelevant questions. This man lacks substance because he fails to see the bigger problems the twins are attempting to address. Instead Mr. Morgan is asking questions that everyone knows the twins would be crazy to answer, for instance "what is the exact or estimate dollar figure that you both would settle for?". Furthermore, I agree with the numerous comments on this story of Mr. Morgans constant interruptions. As a contrast, Larry King had the respect and patience to wait for a complete response from his guests and would use those answers to build his next questions, while Mr. Morgan is chaotic, childish, and very frustrating to watch.
I agree with all the previous posts regarding Piers Morgan's below standard interview skills. We are not interested in watching him interrupt his guests mid sentence. It is difficult for the viewer to listen to the program in this manner and is disrespectful for his guests. It appeared tonight, Piers immediately chose a position with the twins and didn't allow them to defend themselves. Piers eluded many times to how attractive they were and that they should be content with their settlement. It was an absurd argument. If they were in fact wronged by Zuckerberg, their appearance should have no bearing on their legal case. Please........give Piers a lesson to improve his interviewing skills or many people are going to stop watching his program .
Wow, could Mr. Morgan have been any more rude this evening?! Why ask the question if you're not interested in the answer? He obviously had preconceived notions about these young men and he didn't care what they had to say. I'm surprised that at least one of them didn't say "Could you please let me finish?" I was so frustrated with the interview and I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one.
m johnson....Beat them at what game????? They were the originators of the idea and Mark stole it....
I am dismayed by reading these comments about how the twins are somehow spoiled and therefore don't deserve justice. Theft is theft, intellectual property can and is often stolen, and everyone who does it should be held to account.
Piers - your inability to show your guests basic respect is why you well never be in the same category as Walters, Winfrey, or King. Your guests are interesting, but soon your viewers will start tuning out because of you.
Piers Morgan needs to sit back and let the guest finish his/her sentences. Also don't show his back to the viewers. I guess no one wants to know how he sits n jumps in the chair. Obviously this doesn't seem to get inside of Piers Morgan, so who ever is running the show could you please let him know about this?
I have a great idea that is "ready" for execution and I am willing to share it with Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss. The Mark Zuckerberg's success cannot come close to the success we will achieve from my unique solution. The world as a whole cannot wait to be introduced to my unique solution. Piers Morgan, please, give them my email address or send me their contact information; lets change this world together.
Well if he interupts this guest, he's getting smashed in the face!!.....Hence, no interuptions.
Piers is constantly interrupting the guests, he doesn't give the guests time to actually answer the question that was just asked, the guests are on the show to tell THEIR story, and Piers never lets the guests explain their story....also Piers is completely biased, all of his questions were why the twins were continuing in litigation since according to Piers they have enough money and are good looking so they should just forget what happended to them, the twins looks and current financial status has nothing to do with the business dispute they are litigating
Piers Morgan was an embarrassment tonight! He could not think of one intelligent question to ask the Winklevos twins. He continuously tried to delittle them while downplaying the injustice Mark Zuckerberg perpetrated. Shame! Shame!
Piers's best interviewwill be when he interviews himself, the one an only!
Oh my God! I monitored my blood pressure during this interview and it has risen! I have no choice but to either stop watching CNN in the 9 p.m. slot or else buy a punching bag to get rid of my frustrations. I also feel that I have just run a marathon after watching him! Anderson Cooper actually calms me down! Please replace him with someone more professional! Piers appears to have feelings of grandeur!
LOL! I sure needed a good laugh before going to bed! Thanks! Greetings from Canada!
Piers, you were clearly unprepared for what should have been your most interesting interview to date. You asked two questions, Why should we feel sorry for you in 4 or 5 different ways and how much money do you want at least 6 times. Disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A little preparation goes a long way. Next time give your guests time to respond.
Excellent guests. Pathetic interviewer!! I would love to hear what the guests have to say but Piers won't let anyone finish their sentence!!
I am in agreement with the overwhelming majority of the comments above (and no doubt will continue below).
I have tried hard to like Piers and have watched most of his interviews so far, but tonight was ridiculous.
Piers was condescending and pompous. It seemed to me like he was doing his level best to discredit these guys and make light of justice and matters of principle.
The interrupting was already getting to me and also the need to be talking rather than listening.
One of the reasons Larry King was so great was because he believed he could learn something from anyone. When he asked questions, he genuinely wanted to hear the answer – and then he listened! He treated every guest the same way – with respect.
Not so with Piers. Tonight he was so confrontational it was offensive. Last week with the Kardashians he was basically flirting.
CNN's reputation is at risk of being damaged if this continues. We do not want a tabloid type program in this time slot.
I hope someone at CNN is reading these comments!
I'm not a violent person, but I wanted to leap through the television and smack him. I had to turn it. I take comfort that everyone else on here was highly irritated too!
I'm afraid tonight was the last time I'll watch this show. Piers Morgan has been a HUGE disappointment and I've lost a lot of respect for CNN. I just can't take Morgan's big ego, often ridiculous line of questioning and constant interruptions. Piers, take a page from the late Ed Bradley and learn how to shut up and listen.
PM is so dumb that he cannot comprehend what the real issue here is. Check out his bio at Wikipedia, it is also full of controversy. I personally have friends from the UK who have no respect for that guy at all.
The Michael Ohr interview went well.......
Piers, I feel more of Britishers are your guests than Americans being in CNN. Why ?
Please bring back Larry King! Piers is terrible. No skills, no talent, no good! I'd rather read a dull book. I'm tuning out!
Morgan ask your question and WAIT for them to answer it!!!!CNN hire somone that knows what their doing!!! Morgan suggests that because the twins were born into a family of wealth that money is not an issue and they should simply stop and go away. Not so Mr. Morgan. They had an idea tried to realize it only to have it stolen. The brothers are examples of what we hope children of wealth should do. Make their OWN money! I fully support their fight and hope they get everything that is rightfully theirs!!!
I've read all these comments about Piers' interviewing style. I don't at all agree, Piers moves the conversation along, given the allowable time between commercials. Plus, the twins have nothing to say but same old same old.
What was missing from the interview is this: Was there anything in writing between the twins and Zuckerberg? I don't know that there was. If so, they probably had no legal case. Why was there the settlement? According to the movie, to avoid bad PR at the time Facebook was taking off. So what is the twins' complaint? Not all the blather about "justice" but rather their contention that at the time of the settlement the value of the stock shares was misrepresented. That's all the current lawsuit is about. If the Winklevoss's had focused more on that, they would have looked better rather than playing the screwed party back in the Harvard days. If Piers had focused more on the truly unsustainable nature of their original case and the real reason for the settlement, and now the reasons for the current contest, he would have come across as more knowledgeable and penetrating an interviewer. All in all, I don't fault Piers' interviewing style as much as I fault him for not focusing on the real issues. Despite his style, he let the boys off easy.
He kept interrupting the guests and asked them stupid questions! As if the twins were gonna tell him how much money they will be willing to settle for! "Why shound we feel sorry for you?" What kind of a question is that? He just could not grasp that what they were doing was a matter of principle. Clearly, Piers has none.
Actually if this is about the principle why would the twins not donate all gains to charity.
Have you ever watch or I should say heard yourself talking to your guests?????
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease give your good chosen gusts a chance to give us complete answers ... obviously you do not care about their answers. Why do not you bring their photos and talk to it instead of wasting their time and save us the frustration
Thanks Sue :) you Nailed it. This being my first time to blog on CNN, was difficult and I saw your comment. Perfectly said, after Larry King- what are the executives thinking?? Who would ever want to be interviewed by Piers Morgan?
Interruption, after interruption- guests cannot complete a sentence let along a thought. Are we looking at ADD watching Mr. Morgan. It looks like many agree- As a past viewer (past??) of 6:00 p.m. PST show on CNN, I will not be returning. I want to hear what the guest, feels, thinks, says without constant interruptions. The Winkleboss twins were tortured as well as the viewers.
Why do we keep hiring these foreigners when Americans can do the job better? CNN has so many good people that could have taken that spot. You can never replace Larry King who was a master of his trade and genuinely cared for most of the people he interviewed. It is just to frustrating to watch Piers Morgan and how he is treating his guests. I will not be watching any longer.
It's odd to me that Morgan doesn't seem to understand that their motivation doesn't have to be either the principle OR the money; it can be both. If someone stole an idea from me and made billions, I'd want both justice AND money, and there's nothing wrong with that.
People, if you don't like Morgan's style then don't watch him. There is a method to his technique an I think it is great to get the guests out of their comfort zone and pre-planned answers.
And I do not feel bad for the twins. They need to get a life. Mark out smarted them. Get over it!!
There is a difference between an interview and interrogation! You mention you like his method of technique which to me is more like the latter. However, to each his own!
You're right I won't watch him anymore – your response is just as arrogant as Piers himself.
Agree fully.......go team Zuckerburg!!!!!!
Next time get it in writing boys....or follow through!
I actually was really enjoying PMs style......exposing these 2 plastic, shollow, whiners for who they are!
I watch these two boys, both Harvard graduates, and understand a lot about the Ivy League and even Congress...their story is not believable, they spout on about principles and not caring about the money...they are doing this for their children, etc. "The Rules"...."he broke the rules"....so young
Piers...SHUT UP! Format... You ask a question, let guest answer. NOT ask question and you, Piers, answer. We want to hear what they have to say, not what you think. You are rude to your guest...may make other rethink being a future guest.
Is it just me or is Piers Morgan becoming more and more obnoxious and annoying? He asks the same question, over and over, and misses the point. Just because a person is financially comfortable/stable, doesn't mean that they shouldn't pursue avenues, which may, reach an end where there's more money to be had. The questions were not interesting, and his comments were borderline senseless. He needs a hard beating from his producers and by CNN.
Amen, Jane. I second your sentiments completely.
The twins publicist should be fired for allowing them to go on CNN with weak arguments filled with business terms out of text books. There is nothing heart felt and sincere about their responses.
I love your guest Piers but you constantly interrupt and over talk them. It makes me so nervous that I have to change the channel and feel bummed that I didn't get to finish your show. PLEASE let your guest speak or no one will come on your show.
What is up with this? You can't stop interrupting! It is the most annoying thing. You ask questions but have no time (or interest) to fully listen to their answers! Or let others hear the answers..
I love how I wasn't the only one thinking you made a fool of yourself, I hope you keep up the good work so CNN can get rid of you in no time then will see how many great ideas you can come up with. You just had to remind everyone what a jerk you are. At least get some advice from people with experience.
Larry King's secret was not only he asked INTELLIGENT questions but that after that he let people talk and tell their story. Piers Morgan is SO ARROGANT he loves to hear himself talk and his CONTINUED INTERRUPTIONS are disrespectful and show his total lack of experience to do this job – he really is not good. Maybe he can go work with at The Factor with Bill since he loves to interrupt even the president of the United States. Piers Morgan is just not a good interviewer like Joy Behr or Larry King or Anderson Cooper – but if you keep him... TELL HIM TO STOP INTERRUPTING!!!
What a horrible interview with the Winklevosses!!! Questions like, "What are you, one trick wonders?" or "How sorry should we feel for you?" by Piers were extraordinarily inappropriate - not to mention lacking in logic or decency. The argument isn't, "You were born with opportunity and received a favorable settlement, so you should be happy and move on." Either they have a point based on the merrits of the case or they don't. The fact that they are wealthy or anything else is irrelevant! What a frustratingly poor line of questioning. Honestly, it is embarrasing for you to obsess with their appearance, wealth or romantic lives.
Bravo to the twins for remaining in good humor and polite - and sticking to clear messages - despite constant interruptions and unbelievable rudeness.
I really wanted to like you Piers, but I'm sorry, you COMPLETELY blew the interview. I'm definitely not tuning in any time soon.
CNN, I'd reconsider your choice of Larry King's successor. Just plain poor.
One more thing – ASK BETTER QUESTIONS! MY GOD!
Insecure and condescending is my impression of Piers' handling of the interview with the twins. Peddling to Zuckerberg in hopes he'll come on the show.
We really enjoyed the first couple of shows – with Oprah and Stern, but then it went progressively downhill. The reason the first shows were good was Piers Morgan was respectful and listening to his guests – guests who know the business and are interviewers themselves. One could say he was intimidated by Oprah and Stern. There was no way he could interrupt or bully them, like he does now with his guests. The guests now never get to finish their sentence. You don't need to be a bully to be a good interviewer or to produce a great show. CNN should not associate itself with such a classless act.
So irritated with the way Piers conducted the interview with the twins. Had to come to the site to see if it was just me but apparently it is not. Piers needs to be talked to if CNN wants to keep a 9:00 following.
Piers, I have been watching you since your first night. Why don't you want to hear the answers to the questions you ask? Why is listening to your own voice so much more interesting to you than your guests? You constantly speak while your guests attempt to answer your questions. When you had the 4 poster girl women on the other night, there was a point where you had everyone answering at the same time, and you instead of trying to get any one of them to be heard, actually went on with your own story of something in your life for close to what seemed like a minute, and the entire time, not one of you appeared to be listening. You just seemed to speak the loudest. Why host a show? Why is CNN keeping you? P.S. Your guests are great. It would be great to hear what they have to say. Keep this up, and I am switching to HLN during your hour. Don't you want me to stay your viewer?
Tonight's interview of the Winklevoss brothers has totally ended my interest in your show. Your constant interruptions not only destroy the thought processes of your guests but this viewer as well. You are extremely rude and I, for one, can do without you and your uncivil tongue. I thought politeness was an attribute of Brits and, if it is, then you were poorly trained.
obviously no one cares about this show except the twins....responses are all focused on PM instead of the empty responses of these plastic characters........give it to charity was PMs greatest suggestion.......the response of the twins said it all.......I thought PM handled those boring little matching bad business men brilliantly!.
If Piers Morgan is an interviewer, you finished the 8th grade. What an ignorant answer.
Guillermo Winklevoss, is it..........now you are insulting my education along with name calling......mmmmm.
I find it somewhat interesting that the twins only defence is to insult the host for their lack of intelligent answers.
Oh yes, and I have more than grade 8, actually 7 yrs. of post secondary education.
Mark was wise to lose these guys before he ever started........I checked out the site they have now and it is so lame and designed for New York posers and wanna-bes......kinda like their original idea for Harvard. FB is so different from the twins original idea. Check out the Daily interviews done by their friend........they give the same bad answers.
Totally agree with Terry. Glad I am not the only one here getting PMs style. And you said it best, the reason PM didn't let them finish is because the answers were empty and pre-fabricated.
You are an idiot ... enough said
Not only does Piers interrupt his guests but he asks the STUPIDEST questions! Then when his guests don't answer the question because it was sooooooo ridiculous he doesn't buy a clue! He keeps badgering the guest(s) with the same stupid question. Maybe that's how they interview people over in England but you're in America now Piers. Learn the culture!! He sucks! I'm not watching CNN anymore when they have this clown on. We all just need to quit watching. When the ratings plummet they'll start to listen to us!
As interested as I am in many of the guests, I can't stand to watch the abrasive disrespectful interview style. Go ahead, ask tough questions, but show the respect to listen to the answers and know when enough is enough. At some point Piers says "viewers don't really care to hear...." wrong. We do care to listen to the guests equal to the interviewer.
Piers Morgan's interviewing style (using the term loosely) is reminiscent of Geraldo Rivera. He asks questions and interrupts guests and at the end of the show you feel ripped off because there was an opportunity to have listened to someones story but instead you watched Piers/Geraldo trying to make a career as a sensational (sensationalist) journalist. I wish someone at CNN would inform him that people are watching to listen to the guest not to Piers Morgan. I won't put myself through that frustration and disappointment again. I'm done with the one man "Piers Morgan" show.
I like Piers very much. he is "incisive", doesn't bat the ball around. His style is efficient and to the point. He is not running ET Tonight. I love Larry King, a great, great man. Truly. I want Piers now to have those years upon decades of interviewing everyone in the world, and to acquire that similar patina. So he cuts off stupid answers that are usually evasive, anyway. Someone earlier commented that Piers interrups his guests "train of thought", I would say, rather, that he doesn't let them off the hook.
Sorry must have missed those "analytical, clear thinking" questions. And I am wondering, if he some how telepathically knows what they are going to answer by constantly bombarding with the same exact question at least 20 times. You think THAT is sharply focused? I ask you if he cuts them off because he KNOWS their answers are bad, then why on earth is he interviewing anyone? If he only wants to hear what HE wants to be said (have you heard of passive aggressive?) he should host ET. I call his style, hanging on by his fingernails. He cant build on his interviews intellectually because he doesn’t let them give an answer so he wings it and tries his hardest to ruffle their feathers to get some type of subversive reactions. His sleazy style of journalistic interviews are indicative of cheap tabloids. Just because he talks fast and wears a suit and talks with an accent does not disguise his real roots.
Tell me what pointed question did he ask? Give 1 example. How much money do you want to go away? Umh, How about this one,? You got looks, you go to IL schools, you get girls, how much money do you want? This one? I want to end this, I am the mediator, just tell me how much money will it take?
Come on James! TELL ME, HOW MUCH MONEY DO THOSE BOYS WANT????? Oh wait, this one: You get girls? You got girls right? Your handsome boys, you have wealth how much money do you actually want? Yeah James, I call THOSE "incisive" ! To a monkey maybe....Wondering if you invented something and one of your "partners" stole it and made billions what you would do?
Did you hear their family WORKED for their money? Oh wait, you couldn't hear what they said because Morgan knew the answer was bad so he interrupted them and talked over them to ask another clear thinking question like: How much money do you really want? OR maybe this analytical one? Come on, tell how much money are you going for? Get the ANNOYING POINT? I guess not, all that made you understand about IL colleges and congress……..so, so, so dull
I disagree. These guys were totally scripted by their advisors, and Morgan had no patience for the BS. When they went into their lawyer jibber-jabber, he cut them off because it was clear they weren't going to answer him.
He made some outstanding points, and I think he shook them up.
I agree with you – the only difference is that at least Jerry Springer is a very educated man and he lets his guests – even the trailer trash ANSWER THE QUESTION! Piers needs to let experience take over. What a disgrace to the Larry King legacy! MY GOD!
Piers Morgan is a HORRIBLE host! He is rude, pushy, interrupts his guests, and asks the dumbest questions. The Winklevoss interview was unwatchable. Why did he continue to berate them for having money and for being happy? If you laid out the framework for facebook and watched someone else make a billion dollars, you'd want a piece of it too! Why doesn't Piers Morgan give HIS money to charity if he's so damn altruistic?! What a hack! CNN, please get this guy OFF the tv. WORST HOST EVER!
I can't stand watching this show....was so rude towards the twins and acted like a little child in assuming that having money and good looks makes life great....he doesn't even let them answer then asks the same question 2 minutes later only to interrupt them again.....won't be watching this show anymore...
Absolutly. He is really talented and knowing when to cut it off and when to wait for a good, genuine and/o interesting answer. Oprah said it in her interview with him. She, more than any of us, understands what this is about.
Let me be the 155th comment to reiterate the same: Piers Morgan either needs to leave or revamp. Besides not letting his quests answer questions, his interview of the Winklevoss twins was extremely patronizing. Piers Morgan belittled the twins' legal battle by repeatedly harassing them about how much money it would take to drop the lawsuit. Reminding these guests that because they are good looking and wealthy should be a reason to walk away from their legal claim was an attempt to be cute with the audience- however it came away as cynical and empty of useful interview content. If there was no merit in their case, they would not have been able to win $65,000,000 in the first place. He missed an opportunity to gauge the real issues in the case.
And you won the apprentice? So did Joan Rivers. It shows how shallow the program is to have winners like you. You need to get the air out of your head because u are brain farting too much! Just because u have a British accent it doesn't make u intelligent. Anyone who approves of your poor behavior is either paid by you or living on a different planet. I too am done watching this program like the other millions. Let's see how many more ideas u can come up with before u bash others for having brilliant ideas and having it stolen from them. Get a life.
Piers should be fired. Who is doing the hiring over at CNN? Is this the best guy in the whole country for this job? Think of how many capable intelligent people were passed up for this job, so they could pick this blowhard instead. Then they hired Spitzer. I can't even stand looking at him. He should not have been given that job either. Again, who is running CNN??
Other than the odd intelligent comment this blog seems to be filling up with some bitterness......maybe a couple of guys that were blind sided once again by this interview.....give it up boys.
Enjoyed Pierce Morgan tonight as he voiced what many of us wanted to hear.....the twins said very little other than poorly prepared statements recited over and over...........talk about out of touch.
They do know a little about computers....I think the twins are blogging....hahahhhahaha
Well i was going to go on and on with a rant about how disrespectful Morgan is to his interviewees. But, I decided it would be very similar to how many times he said the word "money" through out this first interview tonight. This aberration of an "interview" put me very much in mind of Fox's Bill O'Reilley/Obama "interview".
Was he asking thought provoking questions or just provoking? (I am sure an "ole journalism" trick) Who wants to listen to interviews where it is the questioner getting all the attention, or actually in Morgan's case BEGGING for it? There is not one interview so far where he has not draw attention to himself. Do we say here, that he's trying WAY too hard or, he is just inexperienced? I could care less you were a journalist for 20 years. (If he were any good he’d still be at it).
Take a breath Morgan and LISTEN, let your audience draw their own conclusions. That is, if they can hear over your LOUD, non-bantering voice. But of course, we’re just Americans we aren’t sophisticated enough to understand. Come on ,Morgan tell us how much money you want, so YOU will just go away?
Take a clue from Frost, Griffin, Cavett and maybe even Hey! By the way Morgan this interview should not have been a defense of a criminal, but a story about morals, what’s the RIGHT thing to do, and personal integrity. NOT MONEY. You sure got slapped down when they came from coal mining family, but you did not pursue that bit .
Provoking and repeating puts people off Morgan (you know, a journalism trick). They don’t want to answer questions they are put on the defensive and you effectually ended your interview. Wait! I forgot u know this because u were a journalist.
PS The British do not have a monopoly on satire/sarcasms, but they do have it in rudeness, but you’re right, we just don’t get it, we’re Americans.=Saw you being interviewed on other talk shows to promote yours and I am so sad those American interviewers gave you the respect to finish a sentence or even a thought. Although you had nothing to say, but I do remember you saying you hoped you lived up to L. King. As the new term going around I will use now=FAIL!
Whoops sorry, I ranted…but you can understand that sarcasm right? I wonder how many pounds you are making off of us Americans???? Get that sarcasm? DOn't think we are so nieve just READ all of the above. Hope u get/or got Trumped in your next show.
Morgan even had the balls to interrupt Anthony Hopkins (near his own kind)! Even he was good heartedly taken a back yet showed grace like these 2 boys did. PATHETIC
I am so amazed Piers himself had NOTHING to say in his own defense. It is however the right thing for him to do at this point. At the end of the day it is the simplicity of the American audience being undermined. Piers is simply copying other British programs such as Hard talk or similar programs. He's trying to make a mélange of ideas and give it his twist BUT after someone like Mr. king it takes an extremely intelligent, confident and a GENUIN person to fill the space. piers, How Much money do you think each one of those attributes are worth? And how much Of each do you think you have? I think you and CNN OVER estimated you.
Wow- glad I'm not alone- just watched the first 23 minutes and piers spent the last 21 talking about how we shouldn't feel bad for these guys who went to harvard and have money. My favorite, " if I was a viewer, I wouldn't feel bad for you at all." yeah well piers you should become a viewer because we do like these guys and their principles- so let them tell their story without the judgment! All the viewers wanted to hear these guys and you wouldn't let them finish a sentence. Congrats on losing another viewer.
PM made a HUGE mistake from the get go when he said he has banned madonna.. and he was soo proud of himself, so smug! and his reason?? madonna is soo yesterday?? seriously?? what gives him the right to ban anyone?? how can CNN let this slide??
No sense beating a dead horse…Mr. Morgan is definitely in need of a primer on interviewing for American audiences! The only thing worse than a guest without a story (which is NOT the case for the twins) is a disrespectful host…whether they are on your television or in your living room. Larry King was totally biased toward Israel and (at times) allowed this to "inform" his behavior, but at least Larry let (most) of his guests finish their sentences. Morgan needs to mind his manners!
I was really looking forward to hear what the Winklevoss brothers had to say, especially after watching the movie. Too bad they couldn't get a word in edgewise. Piers Morgan's interview style is too aggressive and overbearing. Too pushy with his questions. If this show has a chance, then he needs to listen to his guests and let them speak.
Well, I thought Piers was becoming humble and evolving until watching this. The coverage on Egypt was better than what came before and what followed tonight. Perhaps it will improve, but tonight it was more humiliating to watch Piers doing what he did....for the tabloids (a hunch).
A note to Piers: a BASIC part of any decent interview is LISTENING skills & the ability NOT to be PRESUMPTUOUS Neither of which you did here. I would've been better off watching Fox News interviewing these young men.
Watched the interview too or most of it and agree Piers as an ill-mannered interrupter obsessed about money which is why I didn't watch the entire interview. His constant interruptions were annoying. I too have been waiting to the Colin Firth and The King's Speech chat. Hope he was better mannered there, it not don't expect I'll be watching this show much more than tomorrow.
Morgan is SOOOO ANNOYING. I gave him a chance but now I am done watching. He is the worst interviewer I have ever seen. He keeps interepting his guests and he keeps on asking the same question over and over again hoping for a different answer to the point were it is so painful to watch. The most obsured argument he made with the Winklevoss that if somebody robs you of millions of dollors, then it is OK because you have enough money left. So obsured.
Asking them over and over and over again how much they want, made me want to punch him so bad. They want what they deserve Piers. It is appaling to suggest otherwise. I miss Lary King.
Isn't anyone seeing the big picture? He wants to interview Mark Zuckerberg I for one enjoyed the show good work Piers
Checked back in on this blog this morning. Seems like 99.9 % of the comments all agree that PM must go, and I do too. Curious, could CNN legally replace him this soon ? I would much rather see Joy Behr in this position than him.
Does anyone know if CNN reads this blog while the show is going on ? I thought PM calmed down some after the twins interview.
Nice to see Piers' agent has taken a little time to leave a comment.
Actually, Morgan is a pompous, rude, ill-informed. superficial, egotistical twit. CNN needs to can him fast.
I meant to leave my comment below to Piers fan Sandy.
I watched Piers show for the first time w/the Winklevoss interview, and had looked forward to it. It was a huge disappointment. One of the worst interviewers I've ever seen. Stupid, irrelevant questions, constant interruption, no understanding of business, finances, the legal system or much of anything else. In Piers world, the legal system does not apply to people that have all their fingers and toes and can get along in the world. Instead, the Winklevoss's are supposed to suck it up and go out and come up w/another multi-billion $$ idea. Piers is an idiot and I won't watch his show again.
Well said, BKB. It could have been an iinformative interview, but Morgan has no clue about the topics you mention. Last night was also my last time watching his show. Those brothers showed a lot of class putting up with Morgan's constant interruptions and irrelevant questions.
Enough. Enough already. I wanted to watch. I TRIED to watch. But, alas, it's just too painful. Piers, for crying out in the night, STOP INTERRUPTING YOUR GUESTS. You've had some great guests that I would have watched for an hour non-stop, TWICE, if they could have gotten a word in edgewise. Sorry, but constantly interrupting a guest just makes you come across as pompous horses ass.
I would watch if you would listen.
Morgan is really really ANNOYING. He needs to be replaced soon, OR Larry please give him some training how to take interview.
I thought that PM was going to be a good replacement for Larry. Boy, was I wrong. Last night's interview was painful to watch. I give the twins a lot of credit for not getting up and walking away from that interview (if that's want you want to call it). PM couldn't have been ruder. And as so many people have commented, his interruptions were unacceptable. PM should make a public apology. I've watched faithfully every night – but after last night, I will never be tuning in again.
I concur with the posters here. Piers is obnoxious. his treatment of the four lady legends the other night was boorish at best. I do not want to hear anymore form Mr Morgan. Boor Boor Boor.
I dont know the full story yet, BUT from what these guys say, they may have a GREAT CASE against Zuckerberg--You can bet that this young little Jew was brought up as a very smart, kiniving "user"as most like him are!!!!!
Piers is in no position to question someone's integrity. He is obviously trying to get ratings by being a total a** to his guests. Kudos to the twins for not letting him get them flustered and walking off the set.
Absolutely right Mr. T, however, all of us are playing right into his Game- A Game of getting peoples attention by doing everything that is obnoxious, rude and self-serving. He has excelled in his performance!
If this is Pier's 'game' and he excels at it, then CNN stands to lose. More of this ilk is not what we need. We need more intelligent, thought provoking and informative interviews. Many many more of us are tuning out this sort of spectacle/junk – – -and turning it off!
I will no longer be watching CNN from 9 till 10- Larry King treated his guests with respect, no matter how he personally might have felt about them. Mr. Morgan does not. I am embarrassed for CNN that Piers Morgan is representing them.
TERRIBLE, AWFUL, INTERRUPTING HOST.
never will watch him again
I just read many of the comments already posted about Piers Morgan in general and the Winklevoss interview in particular and I agree with all those who believe that Piers has proven himself inadequate to the challenge of taking over this format. He is trying hard to be an effective interviewer, but instead is an aggressive bully who totally misses the points being made by his guests. The brothers were remarkably poised in attempting to convey their rationale for pursuing legal action against Zuckerberg. Morgan interrupts too much–any is too much-talks too fast, asks specious questions and is obviously more interested in being clever, at which he fails, than in eliciting fully formed responses from his guests. Try again, CNN.
I am disappointed with CNN for continuing to employ Mr. Morgan. Larry King treated each of each guests with respect. Piers Morgan does not.. I will no longer be watching CNN from 9:00 till 10:00 and am embarrassed for CNN.
bring back Larry, this guy is TERRIBLE... GOD HE IS TERRIBLE
I just watched the interview with the twins, if you could call it an interview. Morgan was so rude. An interview should be about the guests and the story, not about the person conducting the interview. Watching it actually made me angry, for all the reasons listed by others here. I have always thought that CNN maintained higher standards. Apparently not if they allow this bully to keep his job. I for one will not be watching any more.
The twins have no case, at all... they had the idea to keep the website exclusive to their school, the whole reason facebook is making so much money is because Zuckerberg did the exact opposite. All they are trying to do is make as much money off of it as they possibly can, and they've already made more money than most people will in a lifetime, nobody cares anymore.
Watching your interview was very disturbing to both my mother and I, and we chose to turn it off after a few minutes of watching. Regardless of our opinion about the Winklevoss twins, we were extremely disappointed in your belligerent and disrespectful behavior. No one deserves to be mocked and interrupted in any situation, but especially as a guest of a television host. We hope you rethink your and apologize for your inappropriate behavior.
An apology is the very least he should do. Maybe he should schedule another interview, IF they would consent to come back on, and give them the intelligent respectful discourse that they deserve and so aptly could have done- – if he had asked the questions we all wanted to know the answers to.
I totally understand what they are sayiing. If its true that mark stoled their idean then he should of gone to jail. I feel so bad for these two guys – so what they went to harvert, so what they made millions>>>> they worked for it ! they aresnt talking about what they have or want>>>> they just need justice served and justice failed them. If someone took yr idea what would u do ???? I thinkits a very personal issue and we shouldnt critize>>>>
WOW! I've just watched this guy for the first time and he sucks! It was irritating to me how he would ask a question and as soon as they began to answer, he would interrupt them. He was awful with that "How Much How Much How Much??" thing too....pitiful! I didn't even care about this interview, it was just on my TV, but it irritated me!
The interview by Piers Morgan of the twins on their concept of social network was absolutely abnoxious. He kept interrupting both of them continually – very very discourteous. He also asked them to provide a figure for what they would settle for from Zucherman at least 10 times and even after the gentlemen – and they were gentlemen – says they would not answer the question. What a ridiculous interview. He is quite a bully and he is going to get his come-uppance when someone comes across the table to him for his bullying tactics or HE GETS FIRED from CNN.
These twins are incredible. They had the inception of an idea, contributed no money, no ideas, no development, no blood-sweat-and-tears. They did not envision it beyond a Havard hook-up site. Yet, they believe that they deserve more than 65M... probably wanting 1B. Would they even care had their idea had gone nowhere? or if Mark had put hours and years into the development but made no money? I think not. They're are over privileged brats who have made a career on the backs of others... as probably did their fore-fathers. If there is any karma in the world they will get less than nothing for their greed.
I am not familiar with Piers Morgan but stopped when I saw the Winkelvoss twins interview. My first thought was Morgan was a bully. The brothers held up well but his continued suggestion they have enough money, why should anyone feel sorry for you, how much money do you want, they were badgered! I'm currently reading The Facebook Effect and am intrigued by this story.
The Harvard twins said "UM" over 300 times during the interview. This "a city college" student learned in public speaking is a sign of deception or destraction from the truth. Maybe they were just un prepared to answer questions.
maybe they were thinking; something Piers is no longer doing. I'm surprised they could get um in- - he didn't give them a chance to say much.
If Morgan is going to interview his guests, he should at least give them an opportunity to answer his questions. During the Winklevoss interview, Morgan moves on to the next question in the midst hearing the answer to the previous question. He interupted his guests countless times as they tried to explain their point of view and stand on the situation. That is not an invertivew. Morgan acted like an anxious child, not listening at all to what was being said, but just forgiing on absorved in himself, not his guests. Hopefully this isn't the format of the show. We will know nothing more at the end of the program than we knew at the start about the guest(s).
The interview with the Winklevoss twins left a lot to be desired. Piers interrupted constantly, didn't let either twin finish their sentences. He seemed one-sided and not truly journalistic. He would ask a question but not let them answer it. Piers seemed as if he were out to take aim on at what he thought might be the 'good old boys club', in other words he almost seemed resentful of what priveledge and money these young men had. My husband and I were very put off by his interview. Piers was obnoxious and not enjoyable to watch.
I concur with ALL of the negative press that the Piers Morgan show is justifiably receiving. I was a fan of Piers when he first started this show and was going to give him a chance. I am sensing his ongoing confidence problem- – asking Oprah at the end of the show 'how did I do?' – – even she could not conceal her shock at the question. Now tonight acting like a spoiled teenager with a grudge. I am OUTRAGED at the constantly interrupting, condescending, disrespectful, bullying tactic that he took with the Winklevoss twins. They showed tremendous patience and mature civility with an outright boorish interviewer who showed neither. I agree that they should have walked out and left him sitting there asking his repeated question- -to himself! They are intelligent, well spoken, far above the average role models, and the best example of our most productive youth, yet he dissed them like all they are is 'gold diggers'. They certainly do have a right to compensation by our justice system for being wronged 'in principle' - – not to mention a chance for their case to be heard on his venue. If they say that there is more to the issue than the 'price' then that is the subject line that Piers should have followed- – -not badgering them over and over about 'the price'. Piers obviously had a preconceived negative bias against them from the very beginning and he should have recused himself! He has gotten far too childish and rude for me. I am 62 and I know when ratings and spectacle is more important to the interviewer than a good solid informative interview. I don't watch Jerry Springer and his ilk either.
I am done watching Piers Morgan. Piers does not live up to the "prepping" of his potential audience that the interviews would be "dangerous", exciting, etc. blah, blah, blah. I just finished watching the interview with Cameron & Tyler Winklevoss and became so frustrated with Piers. He absolutely cannot let his guests finish a sentence because he is so busy mentally getting onto the next "dangerous" question. I feel anxiuos watching Piers as he appears nervous, amateurish, insecure and arrogant and I feel his guests must feel this in some way. The only thing I like about the show are some of the guests and the theme music. I believe that Condelezza Rice became extremely frustrated with his questions and the fact she was not able to finish responding to those questions. It's like Piers is so anxious and needy to shock the audience that he embarrases himself. He conducts his show like a "reality show" in the sense as many of us have come to understand that are very tacky and for shock value. He should consider fitting in less information/questions, relax and eliminate the big rush to have us all believe he is a great interviewer............WRONG!
I watched CNN for the news and feel the network does a great job. However, CNN picked the wrong person for this job. My prediction is that this show won't last much longer. Once Piers is gone, and if this time slot remains open, CNN should consider some big time changes. Dear CNN, please have a host that talks much less and listens more and makes the interview experience comfortable for the guest and for the audience. If this is the case I might decide to give CNN another chance for this type of programming. I miss Larry. He was a wonderful interviewer. He got to the point, was direct & asked interesting questions which allowed the guests & the audience to feel comfortable with the process.
When will the Colin Firth interview air? Waiting patiently!
When I first heard Piers Morgan was taking over the Larry King spot, I was disappointed as I didn't have a great opinion of him (publicly bashed Madona in an embarassing way, etc.). I watched the interview with Oprah & Ricky Jervais and had concerns ie. question to Oprah, how did I do? – so insecure – but I was still willing to give him a chance. Until I watched the Winklevoss twins interview. That was the worst interview I have ever seen. I almost learned nothing about them because of his lack of intelligent questions and repeated stupid questions and incessant interruptions. They probably felt that going on the Piers Morgan Show was a big mistake. He was so childish, rude, and embarassing. I will never watch his show again. I was completely disgusted by his disrespect for the twins. Had he behaved so disrespectable to Oprah (instead of the excessive butt kissing he did for the entire interview) or to Ricky Jervais I wouldn't have made it to the Winklevoss interview. No more PM for me.
I couldn't agree more Lori, it's been a train wreck and I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out why they chose him of all the great reporters out there. After the interview with the twins was my breaking point as well. It really is too bad for CNN which usually provides it's viewers with such top notch television.
Piers, I really want to enjoy your interviews, but I'm begging you....PLEASE stop interupting your guests. You ask them a question and they get 5 words into their answer and you interupt them with a comment or another question. It makes watching your interviews distracting and it also doesn't allow for them to respond, which doesn't give the viewer a full interview, all we hear is your voice and not your guest.
Sitting in Larry Kings time slot is a big responsibility and they are big shoes to fill and right now your feet are simply too small.
I agree, Pierce probably did interrupt them too much, without letting them complete what they were saying, and that was very rude. I think Pierce was however, playing devil's advocate by asking them provocative questions, and trying to get them to look at the other side of the issue, to see if it is perhaps worth it to sue Facebook. I think though, that Pierce could also learn something from Larry King, who was a good listener, and a good talker and questioner, but only at the appropriate times in the interview. Important to have respect for your guests especially if they are younger – and I think Pierce was a little harsh and like someone suggested tried to outtalk them. I did find the interview interesting though. Until the movie came out, no one really knew who the Winkelvoss twins actually were, and the role they played in Facebook, as well as how they felt about being screwed over by Facebook owner, Mark Z. More power to them, for trying to puruse their dreams, as well. Maybe someday they will invent something better!
I watched Piers Morgan interview the Israeli Prime Minister this evening and whilst I concur that tough questions needed to be asked, and I am no particular supporter of the recent policies of the interview subject, I was deeply disturbed at the way they were posed. Having put difficult questions to the Prime Minister the role of the interviewer is to listen to the responses, not to interject with personal opinions. Nobody is watching this programme to hear what Mr Morgan would do to bring peace to the Middle East; frankly, he is no position to make anything more than superficial judgement in this regard. Viewers tune-in to observe the interviewer probe intelligently, in a way that creates space for responses from the interviewee in order to reveal underlying motives, personality traits and future directions. Somebody needs to tell Piers Morgan that he is not as important or relevant as his self-opinionated rudeness would seem to suggest he thinks he is. I get the impression that before too long people will vote with their remote controls. I for one will not be watching this 'interviewer' who conducts his show like the talent show judge he once was.
