Below is a poll taken by Foxnews.com which shows 91% of respondents feel that tenure is bad and should be eliminated. Why does CNN continue to lie about the numbers? You shouldn't be saying that the voters blindly support the Union teachers. They agree with some of their grievances but strongly disagree with many union practices. If you're going to report the news, do it accurately.

    • leave teachers alone

How many of these people voting on this have ever been in a public school classroom? Tenure isn't your problem. Our educational system is so flawed and our children are suffering from budget cuts layoffs and poor parenting. Do we really want to focus on tenure as opposed to the millions of dollars in wasted money going to state testing so we can prove time and again that California sucks and our nation is falling behind all of the others? Are we willing to sit by and watch class sizes go up so students are with "glorified babysitters" all day. Teachers won't be teaching anyway so you don't have to worry about it. They are going to be moving sideways down the isles of their classrooms begging the students to behave because they don't want to make the parents mad for making their children accountable and learning. What a joke that people want to worry about the unions right now. Teachers don't even pay into social security or a 401k, they have to foot their own bills and pay into their own retirement (like the rest of the world should).

No, teachers should not get or have tenure. There are some poor teachers that need fired. Last year my son had a poor third grade teacher. By the end of the year, he had all D's. This year he has a great year and all B's. My son likes school, wants to do good, does his homework. I wish I could keep his current teacher for 5th next year. Teachers do make a difference in their style of teaching, discipline in the class, and being their everyday instead of a sub. Young teachers are great, but if they have very young kids, expect several subs throughout the year for their staying at home with their own sick kids. The best teachers I found are ones that have raised their own children, have lots of time for teaching and extra time after school. They are not in a rush to go home, are not going to their own kids after school activities. The ones that love to teach really show it! The ones that cannot teach need to be fired. Sorry teachers but that is how it should be. This country can no longer afford poor teachers on the payrolls.

When will Piers Morgan let up his compulsive criticism of Charlie Sheen – he is beating it to death! I am sick of hearing every night his repeat thrashing of Charlie Sheen who is a very sick man! This is not news. We have soldiers dying every day that we could be honoring! There are lots of positive news items that I would rather hear about!

Pier Morgan, Seattle has the worst fault-line on the planet called "CASCADIA" located of the coast of Washigton. UW experts say this fault could cause a 10.0 earthquake. Yahoo news the other day said the Moon on March 19th and 2oth would cause great earthquakes. I was in Hawaii last year when the Chile earthquake happened, the dates are almost one year apart. The Ring of Fire has shown quakes except California and Washington. Help us understand what is going on with the "ring of Fire". Sleepless in Seattle. Rico

Think of the Earth as a rotating tire, as we build our structures and our numbers get larger, were adding wieght in places
that naturally would not be there, like the counter balance on a car tire if it is placed in the wrong spot in can make the tire wobble out of control, this is why i think that wierd events are happening around the world, the Earth is trying to balance itself.

I can't believe what I just heard on Piers Morgan (9:15 pm EST, 3/11): An earthquake caused by global warming??? This kind of ignorant statement only provides ammunition to the equally ignorant global warming deniers.

And to the other posters here, human activity has absolutely nothing to do with the process of plate tectonics that is the cause of earthquakes.

I thought I imagined that comment by Mr Morgan when I head it as the lead into a commercial break! Sadly it was true.
I expect more of CNN. Having an ex Daily Mail editor commenting on plate technonics is not what the American public deserves from one of their leading news agencies.

Try shutting down all the super colliders that operate around the world, untold devastation will occur if they do not. Does anyone make the connection to their operation and 'events?'

Our solar system, meaning our sun and its planets is going through a transition in our galaxy; our sun is moving with its planets dead center, of our spiral arm we are in 2012.
    It could cause a lot of things to happen, Sun Polar Magnetic Shift and solar activity and the same thing on earth which is happening now,{ causing climate change Earthquakes and Volcanic activity.}
I wonder if our GALAXY has magnetic poles our sun and most of its planets have magnetic poles like the Earth, there have been changes occurring on them as well, (Could our sun and its planets be affected by this galaxy magnetic transition?)

Charlie Sheen is all over the news this week because he's a celebrity drug addict. Justin Bieber was all over the news for 2 days this week because he cut his hair. While Andrew Wilfahrt 31, Brian Tabada 21, Rudolph Hizon 22, Chauncy Mays 25, Christopher Stark 22, Kristopher Gould 25, David Fahey 23 are all soldiers who gave their lives this week with no media mention. Honour the real heros

With the tsunami in Indonesia 5 years ago, and then the earthquake in Haiti last year, I think a lot of us had the belief that the advances in technology in the developed world would be able to mimimize the devastation and disruption of a natural disaster – what a bummer to find out that was kind of naive :(

Hopefully with each passing event though, we learn a little more ... about the prevention, crisis management, the rebuilding process, etc.

As for all the questioning of whether this is a sign of the 'end of days' ... I guess that goes to the question why would God allow people to be hurt like this unless he was angry with us? The minister at the church I went to growing up never claimed to have the answers whenever something like this happened. All he'd ever say is that God would want us to help those in need ...

PS THREE people brought up Charlie Sheen in a thread about a natural disaster in which thousands of people died! Like it or not, he's hot news whether people are willing to admit it or not :p

We keep hearing about food shortages. At the same time our millionaires are jumping in to help.
So why not use that money to load up airplanes with ENERGY BARS AND ENERGY DRINKS??? They keep well and can be easily collected and delivered by aircraft to the survivors. In 8 hours we could be feeding thousands in need. These don't weigh a lot so image a few 747s full of supplies.... Fly into military bases and have helicopters start making food drops... It's a no brainer and the suppliers would even ask for payment in most cases. They would start delivering supplies to airports on just a phone call. LETS MOVE SOME FOOD NOW!
