Rudy Giuliani: "Jimmy Carter had a better sense of the economy than Barack Obama does"

In an interview airing on "Piers Morgan Tonight" at 9pmET/PT, Rudy Giuliani reacts to Wolf Blitzer's sit-down with President Barack Obama earlier today. "He was elected to straighten out the economy – he's made it much worse," Giuliani tells Piers Morgan. "I think he's been the worst president we've had since before Jimmy Carter. I think Jimmy Carter had a better sense of the economy than Barack Obama does."

Giuliani was also critical of the President for his attacks on Congress: "We want the President of the United States to have his own plan...he has no articulated plan for how to get us out of hte terrible mess we're in." Watch the full interview, as well as interviews with Obama supporter Harvey Weinstein and Penn Jillette.

Why does Piers Morgan have this ill informed, rather dumb person on his show???? His words against Pres. Obama are totally ridiculous. One only has to look to Rudy G's campaign in 2007 for the Presidency to see his lack of brain power. Funny, how people with so little in the brain department come out against Barack Obama. They really are just plain envious of this rather articulate, intelligent and accomplished person. Who will continue on as our President in 2012!!!

I agree. Why doesn't Piers challenge remarks made by Rudy G.?!!! I know Morgan "adores" Trump (another Obama harsh critic), who is in the same category as Rudy G. ... But, it is only appropriate to question these ultra negative remarks against the President. It does show lack of intelligence on their part and total envy of him!!!! Piers, how hard did you laugh at the remarks made by the President at the Press Club dinner? Think the Pres should do the same for Rudy!!

Rudy is a pompous person who knows nothing. NAFTA and globalization of our industries destroyed our economy by allowing corporations to go off shore and take the jobs and tax revenue away while hiding record profits offshore and sending their employees to the unemployment line and exploiting (hiring at the foreign rate) foreign workers.

I'm sick of the way you so called talking heads ask questions of people like Rudy Gulliani and don't follow up. And how about the straw poll. Ron Paul almost tied Michelle Bachmann, 200 vote difference and you only mentioned it much later. You don't bring people the news. You aren't keeping politicians honest. Give us a break, you are nothing but entertainment television. Look at Anderson Cooper now with his stupid ridiculous segment. I used to really respect Anderson, but that has fallen like the President's approval rating.

Piers you allowed Rudy to get away with saying things like we spend too much money and that Obama ruined the economy, no mention of George W. Bush and the two wars he got us into built on lies. Look at the deaths of our American soldiers. What is that worth? Well let's all stop spending too much money and buy only the things we need, food clothing and shelter and let's see how many businesses in America go out of business for lack of customers. If you want to see major major unemployment, then everyone stop buying things you don't need..

Rudy is ignorant of the facts and I wish we would ignore this politician who benefited from the 911 crisis. By the way Rudy, Regan raiesed taxes several times during his presidency and Bush killed the private economy with 2 unfuded wars and the unfunded highly expensive prescription drug benefit (Medicare D). Republicans sole prescription for turning around the ecomomy is more tax cuts and deregulation. Rudy, stop stating mistruths and stick to the real facts. Oh, by the way, Obama's point about the 10 to 1 deal was that they were not willing to compromise on anything. Please return to your home in NYC and stay there!

      Piers,
I know you like Rudy, but if you’re going to have him on to comment on the presidents record and the state of the US economy then maybe you take the time to also challenge him on the record of the Republicans and the effect of their “ No to anything proposed by Obama or democrat policy” on the US economy and the unemployed.

      That interview was BS.

Rudy Giuliani just demonstrated what is wrong with U.S. politics. His comments regarding not raising tax on the wealthy because we should not give the government more money to spend is stupid. Does he (and all politicians) not understand the cost of debt and how debt is currently the global plague. Yes, stop the government spending beyond their means but also raise tax and put the additional revenue towards paying down the debt.

How can Obama execute his plans when you have a Republican Congress that will do anything to block his agenda? McConnel stated as his top priority was to make Obama a one time president. You add to this unpatriotic position that the conservative right never ever accepted Obama as our President is willing to tank our economy in any way possible to make Obama a one time President. We can only hope that Americans will see the evil mentality of the Tea Party and the conservative right and throw them out of office so that the Progressives can have control of Congress and put America on the correct path for growth, opportunity and equality.

In New York State drugs found during a Terry Frisk naocnt be used against that person in charging them with a drug crime (though they will be confiscated). Of course from the police perspective there are sketchy ways of getting around that, but it's still a good start.

I have to say Piers that your interview with Giuliani was horrible. You never called him on any of the vitriolic, partisan rubbish that he spewed towards the President. Rudy Giuliani was a lame duck mayor on Sep 10th, 2001. The American people forget that, but we, the residents of NYC don't. Like most of the Republicans, he sells fear and smear, gloom and doom, "government bad" nonsense. The fact that he still gets political mileage from the 9/11 tragedy and you give him a platform to just spew with no ideas, is simply appalling. In American politics in the year 2011 it's the party with the best P.R. campaign that wins. Ideas that will benefit America and our place in a globalized world our useless.

Piers, why don't you be quiet and let your guests speak? You ask a question and when they try to answer, you interrupt and give YOUR answer–I don't give a rip what YOU think, I'm watching to find out what your GUEST thinks. Take the ego down a notch, will you? Do you WATCH back the tapes? Check out the Howard Stern interview! I thought that was because you were still "new"...but now you're doing the same to Penn G.! And you just said you want to "shut him up"! That was just rude. You have great guests and ask good questions, but you're awful at the "listening" part of the interview, and frankly, that's the most important aspect of the interview.

    Dear Piers:
Please make a "note to self" as you arrive at work each evening:
Your job is to be a good interviewer, which inherently means that you should be a good LISTENER to your guests. Your tendency to constantly interrupt and want to state your own opinions is annoying, and leads to the obvious question: Are you there to interview yourself, or to interview your GUEST? Because, if your primary goal is to interview yourself, then your show is really not very interesting.

It's unfortunate that America is one of the most resist countries in the world to-date. The current political environment is a testimony to that, all the rhetoric about Obama being unable to lead, or worse off in economics than President Carter, or the biased comment that Obama is addicted to spending; all these statements are signs of a people who either lake the political intellect and wisdom or are more irritated by the color of his skin. Because of that, it doesn’t matter what good he does, simply because he is black, to them, he is not good enough.
    • It is a fact that he inherited the worst economic environment ever,
    • It is a fact that the stimulus package slowed down the economic free fall
    • It is a fact that he assassinated Osama Bin Laden a man that we have been seeking for more than a decade now. Obama comes finds him and eliminates him. The media coverage on the death of Osama was ran for less than a week. If it was a white President, we could be seeing those reruns even right now until Election Day next year.
    • It is a fact that Obama has developed better relations with other leaders and has left Americans viewed with a much positive image out there.
I can go on and on, but, the white man in America does not believe that this country should be run by a Black man. Obama is probably the most academically intelligent candidate than all his opponents. But because he is Black, he is not good enough.

Piers Morgan is just another revolting socialist. After Guilliani spoke he used the time with Penn Gillette to vent and spew his socialism as if it hasn't failed enough already. He angrily argued we need higher taxes and more government. I heartily disagree and I'm in the group he claims to care about.

This time CNN actually hired an imported European socialist to waste an hour every night shouting down guests and trying to make them agree with HIS viewpoints on the AMERICAN economy rather than allow his guests to speak?

This is what's wrong with our news channels today and this new journalism that only vents its opinions. It's NOT about learning about Americans and what we want or understanding what actually works in the real world; it's about these liberal thought police in the elite liberal classes spending hours of cable time pretending to be objective when all they care about is making America spend more money on failed socialist policies. Europe is struggling under the stupidity of socialism, the hard workers of Germany and elsewhere are paying for the Greeks to take early retirement and not work, and the EU is in for troubled times ahead of which Morgan seems blissfully unaware. I'm not willing to wake up after the Europeans fail miserably with what's begun to fail here as well. We've been successful and the world should be learning from our successes, not we from their failures.

CNN unleashes another Leftist to shove these failed ideas down our throats?

I'm exhausted with these buffoons. I've left the Democratic Party since they left the moderate viewpoint in favor of failed Far Left policies that have destroyed the poor people of this country.

Look it up, when the economy is roaring African Americans and poor people have jobs, money, lower crime and better lives. America needs to get rid of the big spending and the bloated government going through trillions every day on bills they don't even read! Heck, even the President of Mexico and leaders of China have said so about our ridiculous spending on CNN and elsewhere.

Only liberal Hollywood, elite journalists and the far Left socialists are intent on bringing us to our knees.

Also, I'm offended Piers said he didn't care if the middle class of this country struggles. The under class and middle class are in peril together– we're in the same class that we go back and forth between– it's these stupid liberal millionaires who do not get this country at all. Fame through face time doesn't teach you much about real world job creation. If a billionaire or millionaire wants to volunteer to give his/her money to the gov't I don't care. But don't dare volunteer the rest of us for more socialism and misery.

The Democratic party is no where near the party it was in my Grandfathers day....but back then those people had a little common sense. Not any more...all you have is people like Pelosi who have to pass a bill to find out what's in it and an arrogant president who signs it into law without reading it. But then what should I expect from a man who thinks we have 57 states? Piers fits right in with the politically correct and getting funnier every day crowd. Keep trying to blame this mess on everyone else...but never obummer...and we'll see you in 2012. Is that newsworthy for a guy that Washington and the mainstream media has dubbed unelectable even though cnn did a poll which actually showed that Mr. Paul beating Obama. The Economic Crash of 2008 was during the "Bush Watch" due to the Texas style GOP economic plan. The bailout was conceived under the Bush Administration. Obama got the ball after Bush economics destroyed the World Economy.
After the Bankers were bailed out the GOP had enough economic revival. Next the GOP caused a down grade of USA credit rating, increasing interest rate again for the benefit of the Bankers not the American people. Pretending to limit the debt the GOP increased the debt by increasing the interest rate shipping off more tax payer funds to Bankers without any increase in public services.
When you start a fire you have to keep adding kindling and keep fanning the flames. Only bailing out the Bankers will not recover the economy; it only allowed the Bankers enough solvency to continue foreclosures. The so called Bush tax cuts only shifted the tax burden onto today's economy actually extending the debt, increasing the debt instead of creating jobs. What creates jobs in America is Consumer Demand not draining the wealth of America for the benefit of foreign investors many of whom are Islamic Jihadists.
George Bush out sourced the American Economy to Communist China.
George Bush out sourced supplying American military to Communist China and got substandard body armor etc.
George Bush spent 8 years in Iraq with ZERO benefit for America and great benefit for his kissing buddies in Saudi Arabia.

The last thing we need in America is another Texas Governor on the take from and for foreign Investors from Saudi Arabia and Al Qaeda.
