"I was concerned, but I could draw on the experiences that we had with the recovery from the drugs," Winehouse said. "What she did as far as the drugs were concerned was incredible."

While Amy had stopped taking drugs, Mitch says she continued drinking. "She would drink for two or three weeks and then she would detox for two or three weeks, and that's the worst thing," he said. "Her doctor...said if this behavior continued – the binge drinking then the detoxing – that could lead to seizures that could ultimately lead to death."
