Piers Morgan's prime time exclusive interview with Amy Winehouse's father, Mitch Winehouse, airs Tuesday at 9pmET/PT. Mitch opens up about her drug and alcohol use. "I was concerned, but I could draw on the experiences that we had with the recovery from the drugs," Winehouse said. "What she did as far as the drugs were concerned was incredible."
While Amy had stopped taking drugs, Mitch says she continued drinking. "She would drink for two or three weeks and then she would detox for two or three weeks, and that's the worst thing," he said. "Her doctor...said if this behavior continued – the binge drinking then the detoxing – that could lead to seizures that could ultimately lead to death." Watch the full, emotional interview on Tuesday at 9pmET/PT.

I have seen many comments about people saying Amy Winehouse had choice not to continue to drink and turn off addiction. Yes, you have a choice to drink alcohol or not. Unless you walk a day in addicts or addict's family shoes you are not qualifed to make an opinion. When you go beyond a certain point and addiction overtakes a person it is no longer a choice. The addiction takes on its own form controlling a person. I often said, if you can recognize if the drinking starts to control you its time to put the drink down and walk away for a while. It is extremely frustrating and sad for loved ones. I can certainly relate to Mitch Winehouse. My father has been strugging with alcoholism for over 25 years. My dad went cold turkey before entering rehab. The docs were upset with him as it could of killed him. He has lead a full life and sometimes I am not sure how he keeps going but thank god he is still here. He is my dad and love him. Alcoholism runs in my family and very aware not to let the addiction take over. I have three kids and probably go overboard on explaining addiction and the outcomes. When you live through it, its not a cycle you want to continue. Nothing good comes out of addiction. My heart goes out to Amy Winehouse's family and hope you find peace. I hope you start a rehab program and help people overcome their addictions.
Alcohol withdrawal is the only drug withdrawal that can kill you; it could be cardiac arrest, or stroke, or a seizure. If you or anyone you know or love has been drinking heavily and decides to just stop, cold turkey, PLEASE make sure that they get medical attention or see a doctor ASAP. It could save their life. I know, I've been there...

Hey Pierz – Can you be a little more subtle in your attempt to evoke an emotional moment by your guest all in the name of manufacturing ratings/online buzz? Two instances: (1) Saying "I wish you didnt have to see these images" (or something along those lines) to Amy's dad as he was watching clips of his daughter on your show, which I presume you have some control of or influence over the content of your show; (2) Prodding him at the end of your show about how much he must miss her/how much it hurts, etc.
