Jermaine Jackson on Michael sharing his bed with kids: "That happens all over the world"

Jermaine Jackson opens up to Piers Morgan tonight during a one-hour interview about his brother, Michael Jackson, his new book, Dr. Conrad Murray and more. Morgan asks about Michael sleeping in the same bed as kids. "That happens all over the world, and people don't think of that," says Jermaine. "Absolutely."

Jermaine described one of his regrets about that part of Michael's life:

"I wish we were around him more to tell him, 'Michael get this person away from you because they have a hidden agenda,'" Jermaine tells Morgan. "All the people who accused him of the child molestation. But at the same time, he saw the good."

Watch the full emotional interview tonight, 9pmET/PT.

I realize u have a job to do; however, I don't like seeing one of the Jackson family (again and again), making money from his death. Thank u for listening.

Piers, firstly, I want to say how much I enjoy your show when I get a chance to view it and I just love your accent.
To the topic at hand, I grew up with Michael Jackson, I watched him grow, I looked forward to his appearances, I absolutely loved his music, all of it.... I tried to sing like him, dance like him and my friends and I used to walk our street, arms over our shoulders singing to his songs. Loving my youth was not to pleasing, to say the least, however, my love for this fine young fellow and everything about him was a part of my young that kept me going and I wouldn't change for the world...I have been blessed to love such a wonderful man such as Michael Jackson and I do miss him.

Contrary to the impression created by this interview, propofol is a highly addictive drug that IS abused for a recreational high, and often by health care workers themselves including anesthesiologists. Jermaine clearly knew this during the interview but seemed to think that Piers did not know, or if he did know, wasn't going to call him on it.

Enough of the Jacksons. Stop trying to re-write reality by letting the Jackson family (who all have a vested interest in his continuing success) try to change public opinion about Michael Jackson. He was a good entertainer and sold millions of records to kids under 20 years old. But lets remember he was NO SAINT by any means and neither was anyone else in the Jackson family. Nothing to be venerated here, move on.

Bob..you do realize that Michael is listed as one of the biggest humanitarians to ever live don't you? I mean, giving 300-400 million dollars to children charities, plus buying medical supplys for hosptials, raising more funds with "We are the world, and paying medical and funeral bills of children, should make him somewhat saintly. Also, considered that he was one of the only celebrities to help out child Ryan White, who was ostracized for having AID's back in the mid/late 80s'.

You can check out Jackson charitable contributions at – snopes.com"Michael Jackson – A Passing Fancy". According to people who were on tour with Jackson the first thing he did in each city was visit children's hospitals – EVERY city all tour long. In one case, I think in Romania, he refused to go on stage until the conditions at the hospital were improved, mainly cleaned – with clean sheets, etc. RIP man.

Oh and I forgot, you need to look at some of the videos on you tube of his shows and tours. Those people are not kids under 20, they people I saw in line buying tickets to the O2 concerts weren't kids either. How many records have you sold.

Propofol...COME ON! Propofol is a key component of a general anesthetic. That means that every time one goes under it, one can DIE! You cannot eat or drink at least 10 hours prior to its use in a hospital. You have to have a full blood workup done, weight recorded. Propoful as a drug in a SUPERVIED setting is great for someone like me who has HAD to undergo many surgeries. It allows the anesthesiologist to predict within minutes of when you as patient will 'wake' up. It puts the patient in a coma like state, not one of sleep.

Moreover, chronic pain, now diagnosed as persistent pain syndrome is a FACT. Pain so chronic and persistent that a day without drugs is unusual. But, like all, people with PPS would love to be able to leave painkillers alone. It just isn't possible. But with a great pain specialist a patient can learn to handle controlof dosage and alternative solutions to deal with it like hypnosis, mindfulness and literally VR's use for meditation. Look can read about this syndrome in many places on the net. I use http://www.painbc.ca. Persistent pain syndrome costs $37B a year in Canada. With boomers living longer, staying active BUT with deteriorating bodies with age, count on these meda to keep active and in good health. And MAINLY, people who have this syndrome are not getting high. IF you have pain, the medication goes to that pain. It only becomes addiction whe the pain has gone but the patient likes the high and stays with it in ever increasing doses. And when they leave meds out available to being stolen by kids especially to take to parties to get high. Pain kellers for pain is not an addiction and of all the millions of people who use it for pain relief responsiblyI object to that slur being used to pain us all.

I wouldn't think that his life was a disaster. I mean, by Emerson's definition, his life was a success. I mean he raised money for children, and tried to help the world with his music (like trying to combat racism in the early 90's with "Black or White" or asking parents to be good to their children with "Don't you know where your children are because it's 12 O'Clock"/"The Lost Children"). He will probably be remembered as being in the same league as previous great music stars, like Freddie Mercury or Jimi Hendrix.

I would like to say that i enjoyed what Michael Jacksons brother Jermaine had to say about how much he loved his brother and his family, And he just wants to help set the record straight about his brothers life and how he lived it. But Piers I am disapointed in the fact that you had to bring up the charges that were put against Michael Jackson in his past about child abuse and the hell Michael went thru during these alligations again. Why do you keep beating a dead horse.Michael was found not guilty and also one of the boys said he had lied let it go!! Michaelis not here to defended his self.

To YOU he may have seemed innocent of the charges. But a lot of doubt hung over Michael like a cloud! OJ Simpson was not convicted of murder, Casey Anthony was not convicted of murdering her child. IT DOES NOT mean they did not DO IT! It only means they did not have enough evidence to CONVICT them.

Huge difference between being totally innocent and a court not having enough evidence to convict you. A lot of people feel all three I mentioned are just as guilty as sin. Just because they got off in a courtroom does not mean they are innocent.

      • Jennie

The only reason that doubt hangs over him like a cloud is because of the unfair media reporting suring the trial. They only printed thinkg that made Michael sound bad. What they didn't print was they fact that Michael's lawyer (the wonderful Tom. M.) ripped apart every witness on the stand. They didn't report that most of the so called 'evidence' presented by the prosecution was false and in some cases manufactured by the prosecution.

If you were one of the most famous people in the world and you were worth millions of dollars. You might want to know who was coming to your bedroom as well. Also FYI most of the former employees have told their "exclusive stories' for bucket loads of money. How can you trust anyone who gets paid to say bad things about someone. Fact is that the people who gave interviews for free never had a bad thing to say about Michael. What's that tell you?

Theres just one thing I would like to say until you know for sure about the true nature of a person then you do not pass jugement on them. Until you have been in the sitution with a child molester then you would not know one if it bit you on the nose.So I am saying Michael was no child molester or child abuser. and do not lump MJ up with OJ the two are not one. So stop passing judgement when you are clueless.

I understand and can appreciate Jermaine wanting to keep his brothers legacy alive and wanting to say nothing but good things about his brother but come on, Micheal was weird to a lot of people. I understand that when you grow up in the spotlight and that is all you know, that is normal to you. Don't be so naive to think that is normal for all people. It is not normal for a man in his mid forties to share a bed with a 12 year old. Also, Michael was a drug addict. He has been to rehab. It doesn't matter who you are. If Michael Jackson wants drugs.... he will get drugs. Dr. Murray just happened to be the one that gave it to him. If it wasn't him, it would have been someone else. The Jackson family wants to put the blame on everyone else....where were they? I would think that Michael would worth a lot more alive than dead. Michael Jackson was not murdered. He overdosed. End of story.

    September 15, 2011 at 11:06 pm | Report abuse | Reply
    • joe

I think you are correct about Michael murdering himself, but I also think it is the correct course of action to put Dr. Murray on trial. Why? Because even though Michael did it to himself and yes, he probably would have used another doctor if Dr. Murray refused. That DOES NOT in any way shape or form EXCUSE Dr. Murray for NOT SAYING NO!

He did not say no because he was getting paid good money from Michael. Now he has to pay a price. That's just the way it goes and I do not feel sorry for Dr. Murray at all! He took a chance with the drugs he was giving Michael and he lost, too bad. End of story!

Michael was a very lonely person, he found peace and joy around children, he suffered humiliations that scarred him for life, having to performed in night clubs with stripers around him and at the same time he had to be a good Jehovah Witness, any one can be confused growing up like this. I never believed he could do harm to a child. The media had to destroy him, they didn't understand him, so they made him into a monster that he wasn't. People took advantage of him. He was a great singer, the best entertainer the World has ever seeing, his message is out there for the whole humanity, some get it some never will. His family can talk about him, sell books about him, try to copy him, but they will never be close to what he was, they learned to sing and to perform, Michael was born a singer and performer. He was born to bring joy to the World. What happened to Michael was tragedy and now that he is no longer with us. The ones close to him should really question themselves why they didn't try to help him were they blind? Is ignorance blind? Now is easy to talk and give interviews, and travel the world to make a buck in Michael's name. Pierce Morgan, Jermaine and the Jacksons can you please let Michael's spirit to soar and be bliss? Please.

For those who like to make Michael wrong because he wasn't normal, I'd like to know what's so great about normal? He was not "normal"; he was brilliant! He was wonderfully eccentric. He was amazingly talented. He did not have a small mind like normal people. He thought and lived outside the box. I'd like to see Piers be a little less interested in sensationalism and more interested in the truth.

You are so right, Kuru. Michael Jackson was a prodigy on the scale of Mozart and Picasso and Black genius is little understood and mostly ignored in the west, because of systemic racism. Reporters who can't get beyond that to see the real story, will continue to have nothing but trash tor talk about.

How can you compare people who take ambien with actual drug addicts. I have not seen this commented on yet, but I know plenty of people who use it wisely, under their doctor's supervision, who would not be productive in their lives otherwise. These people have chronic insomnia. That was an across the board statement.

To anyone who THINKS that Michael was NOT a pervert.....Maybe you should watch the interview with his former head of security at Neverland Ranch.

In the interview, he states that Michael had a camera looking down the hall with a monitor in his room so he could see if anyone was approaching his room. Maybe YOU don't find that strange and want to keep sticking your head in the sand, but I certianly find it odd!

He said the camera was NOT repeat...... NOT for security purposes. He already had a very elaborate security system both inside and outside the Ranch because there were always people who wanted to sneak on the Ranch and take picture's of Michael Jackson. He had PLENTY of security!

And NOW Jermaine says sharing a bed with kids by grown men "happens all over the world?" Yeah, I suppose it does. THEY ARE CALLED PEDOPHILES! Get real Jermaine!

first Michael saying it is "perfectly natural" to want to share a bed with a child and now YOU? I just wonder if this runs in the family?

Well we are talking about the same man who wouldn't eat because of fear of his food being poisoned, so he could be considered an extremely paranoid person. He also had a secret panic room constructed as well.
Plus this head of security could have been one of the bitter former employees who had lost a wrongful termination lawsuit against the entertainer and had repeatedly sold his stories of life at Neverland to the tabloid press. If I remember the head of security sold information concerning Lisa Marie and Michael's bedroom arrangements to the tabloids, and was one of the defenders of Michael back in the early 90s case.

Did Jackson molest you? If he didn't then shut up. The "little boys" who were supposed to be "victims" are in their thirties now and can speak for themselves. They don't need someone like you who knows nothing, but "thinks it's odd" to speak for them. Plus, Jackson is dead and can't hurt them. So far, the only people who were kids around Jackson and are now grown that have come forward to talk about him have said they never saw him do anything inappropriate. Additionally, said they loved being around him and miss him. So no matter how "odd" you think something is there is a big difference between odd and pedophile. I hope anyone who was molested by Jackson, and isn't looking for money, will come forward and tell their stories, but if it isn't you go pound sand.

I will always remember the morning after our honeymoon at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town waking up to the news of Michael Jackson's death. The world was shocked! When famous people die the whole world is touched, I think of Princess Di and others like her, leaving a mesmerising legacy. Your program opens up the lives of these people while they're still alive and allows us to see them face to face answering very personal questions. The interview with Sir Richard Branson was great.

i like this Interview. I notice is a very common for Americans to try and bring down successfull black people.
I see no issue with elder people to sleep on the same bed with kids. In Africa it's very common and as Jermaine said, if your intentions are clear, there is no issue with that.In Africa, it's a common pratice for Babies sleep in same room or bed even with their parents until when they are even 7yrs.i continued slepeing on the same bed wiht my bed till age 11yr. is another way to connect, give warm with kids not material things packed in a different room and a child there alone.i still sleep on the same bed with my friends when i visit them. But it seems to be an issue with the western world. most people relaly see it hard untill they said Oprah and her friend were lesbian.the media keep on complicating life....yes there are lesbians, gays, but they are people that a just genuine friends.can sleep on same bed, hold hands etc...we are lossing the human. Micheal was a great man...people,should see how he help lots of people. He is one the first star who started being involved in charity works etc especially worldwide from Africa ,Asain,Europe,USA. Gather kids in the world in one place....he had a pure heart an i believe it's why he didnt see certian things as normal.I see no problem for him holding his baby through the window.similar things can happen when someone gets excited espcially MJ when people said all sort of things about him...as for his colour, what's the big deal...even if it wasnt illness..we all have the right to do what we want luckily for us black people,we cna become waht we want ..is our choice(treating Acne while your a black skin is dificult and one can turn up to change the colour of the whole skin to have an even skin tone becuase at times only bleaching products work for the dark spots) .thanks to Fans that stick by him............We miss you Micheal... ....his kids should indeed be protected but i glad they got to know who their daddy was...they should be thought to ignore the rubbish people wrote, says about their dad..........Rest in Peace MJ.

The real Michael was totally different from that in the media. Michael was sick. He had vitiligo, and lupus. He was alone with his disease. His appearance was the subject of ridicule. He was just sick. He had no support. Michael really was sick, and Michael really loved children. It should finally reach all those who continue to attack Michael. Have pity on us all. This hatred and resentment is based on lies. Get to know the truth, and as fans will love him.
Michael loved children. Michael was acquitted in court. He was checked by the FBI and DCFS (Department of Children and Family services) – no evidence against MJ. Michael truly cared about children. Michael gave testimony and example – he was an exemplary father.

With ridicule and banter they tried to destroy

What in their minds was a skillful play

With cruel darts they tried to plunder

To suffocate and strangle his innocent wonder

    Fighting hard, despite their blunder

Most people that abuse children do not admit to having a child sleep in their bed for one thing, I have to say that his judgement was off when he held his child out the window for the fans to see but as a parent my self we all are not perfect and some times we make mistakes. A lot of people have had a child sleep in their beds. Jermane was right but it does not make all of them child molesters.

And as far as your Jermaine statement...PROVE IT! Prove that grown men (EXCLUDING PARENTS THAT COMFORT A CHILD AFTER A NIGHTMARE) "all over the world" sleep with children!

Until you can PROVE it, I say that is nothing but a LIE!

you must be high on something! what proof do YOU have that he did anything innappropriate?? and why the hell didn't tom sneddon call you to be a witness? these 'sleepovers' were with FAMILIES he was friends with and everyone would spend time and do fun activities as a FAMILY. what you're not comprehending is mj wasn't the only adult around these kids and he was friends with everyone in the family. he was friends with the parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. he's had THOUSANDS of guests come thru his home and this one family makes an accusation against him and suddenly he's a pedophile?? guess what was the first thing janet arviso asked larry feldman (again, she went to 2 civil attys before going to the police)...'how can i win a civil suit against michael jackson?' now...does that sound like a concerned mother, or someone who has bigger fish to fry? larry feldman told this to larry king and guess what? judge melville dismissed larry king's testimony because it was considered hearsay!! again, what facts do you have that the fbi doesn't?? they couldn't find one victim in the entire WORLD!!! if you have any new information, what's stopping you from going to the fbi??

what's also never mentioned is #1. that mj's 'room' was a 2-story duplex and every 'room' even had their own full-size refridgerator. that's how big these 'rooms' really are...like a large studio. #2. michael WASN'T the only adult around these kids, there were lots of families that made mj feel like he was part of the family. #3. michael didn't 'sleep' with these boys like how tom sneddon said, they (meaning EVERYONE, families) would all have fun watching movies, playing on the rides, going around mj's large property looking @ animals, etc. and everyone would crash out @ the end of having so much fun. macaulay culkin said this in court and even said he himself slept next to complete strangers but that nothing happened. i just hate how the media constantly twists a scenario like that into something it's not.

i have cousins much younger than me and i had to baby-sit them and we'd have fun playing games, etc. and we would all crash out together. that doesn't mean i did anything wrong or anyone else would think that.

Piers' interview with Jermaine showed Piers not to have researched his material prior to the interview. All that talk about molestation (case closed), Piers: there are differences between propofol and demerol, aren't there?" Don't we, who have followed everything MJ forever, already know that; however Jermaine is not a doctor and did not express a cohesive answer. In Jermaine's book he says he and bros walked in on MJ in early 90's when he had IV hookup; MJ said was for hydration, very well known, totally unnecessary for Jermaine to raise that in his book. First part of book could have come straight from "The Jackson's An American Dream" very detailed about childhood memories, etc. I would have liked to see more about last 20 years of MJ's life; family was not that involved. MJ stayed away from bros as they always wanted to involved him in their latest project. Piers Morgan should get educated on his subjects, particularly in a matter of impending judicial involvement, prior to talking nonsense. And please Piers, no Diane Dimonds, Nancy Graces, MJ bodyguards (LaPerruque), others with agendas. Michael was a decent soul who wanted to do good in the world.

Piers, how about a program about Dr. Conrad Murray, the defendant in this case, with 7 children by 5 different women and mounting debts nearing foreclosure when he undertood to work for AEG.

Mr. Morgan, Someone in TV journalism (who is respected) should interview people who KNEW Michael. It would be eyeopening to engage them in a real conversation about him. All interviews end up being about molestation, drugs, that he was strange, etc. Instead speak with Dr. Treacy, who works in Africa & knew MJ's committment to helping children, Dave Nordahl, Ryan White's mother, Jennifer Batton, recording engineers, producers, etc. On the Vindicating Michael website there is a section "JC Agajanian’s stunning interview about Michael Jackson", who tells of his family's love for MJ & staying at Neverland, this site has a tremdous of knowledge and truth. Reflectionsonthedance is also truthful and has a great wealth of information. Geraldine Hughes, author of "Redemption", was the assistant to the Chandler's attorney and heard all the extortion plans against Michael. Aphrodite Jones, author of "The Michael Jackson Conspiracy", which she wrote after the trial using only the transcripts and evidence. MJ was completely innocent and the information is out there and the media will not use it. After reading MJ Conspiracy, you'll KNOW he wasn't just not guilty, he was completely innocent and duped by a family of grifters. Please read the truth about Michael and then amaze the world with it on your show.

Even if all MJ's accusers said today they lied against MJ, many of you would still believe he molested them. MJ"s legacy lives on.. get a life haters

Michael's whole message was about the children . Michael believed in children. Michael believed that children are the key to repairing the world. Michael looked at the world through the eyes of a child. The soul of the child and the soul of Michael – kindred spirits. HEAL THE WORLD.
