Simon Cowell on why Cheryl Cole was dropped from "X Factor": "She looked a bit bewildered"

Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger – two of the judges on the soon-to-launch FOX show "The X Factor" – are guests on "Piers Morgan Tonight" tomorrow at 9pmET/PT. In the interview, Cowell, who also serves as executive producer of the program, talked about the drama that already has transpired – Cheryl Cole was removed as a judge during the audition process. "She looked a bit bewildered," Cowell told Piers Morgan. "I took the view along with a few other people that she would have been more comfortable back in the U.K...That's what you have to do when you produce – you have to make decisions in the moment, and I take full responsibility for it."

Scherzinger discussed her feelings about Cole as well:

"I didn't actually get to work with her that much," she said. "I obviously think she's a gorgeous girl and very charming."

Watch the full interview Tuesday at 9pmET/PT.

Pathetic excuse Cowell. All the reviews say Cheryl was great, very charming and better than Nicole. He should move on, Cheryl Cole has already moved on.

Nicole seems to lack warmth and emotion, would have much preferred Cheryl. She wasn't given the chance to settle into the role.

Best decision he could have made, Nicole is in a completely different league, Cheryl Cole needs to stop believing her own hype.

Interesting reading the media reviews from this weeks premiere – plenty praising Cheryl Cole, very few even mentioning Nicole Scherzinger and those that do dont seem impressed.

The show would have been much better with Cheryl Cole in it. What was Simon thinking? And how could he choose Nicole Scherzinger as her replacement? She speaks like a two year old baby, it's so annoying.

Really liked the banter between two old friends, but the promise of talk about Paula Abdul wasn't really kept. Felt Betrayed. But I do like and often love your show.

I really preferred Cheryl, too. She just seemed more seasoned.

I also preferred Simon's face before the botox.

Shame on you Simon! I saw nothing wrong with Cheryl Cole as a judge, she was awesome! We totally understood her just fine, she's beautiful and not annoying as Paula and Nicole are. She took the job seriously and didn't mess around like the rest of the judges do. She should have stayed.....hopefully the ratings for this show continue to go down and down as many miss Cheryl on there. Shame on X Factor for letting her go!
