READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
Michael Moore was the guest tonight for the live "Piers Morgan Tonight" town hall, with a full studio audience. The discussion of the 99% led to a discussion of the 1% – and whether Moore was part of it. "How could I be in the 1%?" he told Piers Morgan, refuting the claim. "I do really well, but what's the point though?"
Moore continued: "Even though I do well, I don't associate myself with those who do well. I am devoting my life to those who have less."

What a godsend. Thanks for saving our country Mr Moore. Gimmee a break. Am I the only one sick and tired of these celebrities acting as if they know better.
he uses the system to get fat literally and figuratively , and THEN says he's for the little man ! just another hypocrite from the hypocrat party
I am SICK TO DEATH of these stupid celebs! They are SO arrogant!
Do you even know what he does?
nyc is not worth the 24 usd sold for,the air is so bad it is basic fallout conditions tokens should be redistributed as turnkeys to rooms costing no more than 1.5 to return domestic equillibrium where home rule is an endangfered species. Isn't it amazing in a city of intolerable filth, riot gear wqs brought against a park that at least bought 3,000 usd in brooms and mops. Resistance to cleaning streets in nyc is legend, when i returned from another state during a blizzard the snow was black.
Devil's advocate working here, Piers morgan is suggesting that if you achieve the ranks of the 1%, It is a membership requirement that you forgo any previous moral, ethical or spiritual beliefs, he must be right, just check out the evidence being given to the Leveson inquiry, by journalists, about his credo, and his role in the demise of one of the oldest newspapers in the world.
Even though Michael has the money, what he says absolutely makes sense. Wall street, banks, corporate executives have destroyed this country by greed, manipulation and cornering lobbyist power. Case in point, CEO of BMS from 1940's to 1989, built the company into a power house retired with over $14 MM. the next CEO from 1990 to 2001, destroyed the company and left with over $500MM. No one can explain that except manipulation, cheating, hiring board that is a country club friends. there is no control. It is high time we take control of this country by taking over control of corporate and wall street
He's an advocate not a celebrity.
Hypocrite Party? Do you mean the one that sets them up as "christians" yet won't extend a helping hand to those with less?
What are u an idiot or just plain stupid? Christians go where? To church!Churches are tax exempt right? Why, because ,now read this reaaaal slow so u may understand. So they can help the needy with food and clothing and alot of times shelter to fill the gap of what the govt doesnt provide and shouldnt provide in the first place ,the govt is not here for taking care of people in this wonderful capitalist state called America, thats why this country is in so much debt.
Thank you Mr. Moore. Thank you for reminding us the true hidden enemies of both the state and people and that, as citizens united, there is no greater power. Indeed, there is no other form of power that can overthrow the economic elitists of corporate capitalism than that of the people. Tiananmen Square will not happen again because that would only result in the END of the world. That is, in our "enlightened" world we will not live under that kind of barbarity in silience, we'd rather die.
A GREAT show! Thanks Piers for hosting this!
I wish some people would stop resenting Michael Moore and start resenting those that have owned and abused this country and it's political system. Moore has been calling this crisis for over 20 years, with his first movie Roger and Me. How many on the right have done that? None. How many on the right saw this protest movement coming? None. (Michael on the other hand said a few months ago that we are near the breaking point. They are the ones who are clueless and out of touch with reality. The right thrives on providing false vilians and false explanations, scapegoating ordinary Americans. Theirs is a hate politics that wages war on ordinary people.
Moore is a private citizen who is able to speak out against the abuses of the system. For this he will be endlessly demonised by those who have an interest in protecting the top 1%. Moore is not against wealth or capitalism, he is against the abuse of power and priviledge.
Well, GUESS WHAT! Michael Moore HAS the money...so he HAS the POWER AND the PRIVILEGE! He's a HYPOCRITE, wise up!
At least Michael Moore understands & admits what really happened to the "middle class." He gets the fact that people's homes are worth less than what they owe. He gets that people cannot afford their mortgage now without jobs. He feels they should be able to stay in their homes & pay a "rent" to the bank as it's not worth what the mortgage was originally signed for! ( thanx to the scheme Wall St cooked up) At least he gets it! No other 1% is out there is rooting for the little guy! Fat cats sit back & don't get a crap about the millions of us who are losing our homes. Bless Michael Moore for speaking out!!!
He would only be a hypocrite if he said one thing and did another and he doesn't.
the wool has been pulled over your eyes pull your head out and see whats really goijng on
Exactly, Leslie. It starts to sound like people who call him a celebrity or start to veer off of the actual issues
by saying well, he's made money from his movies.....are in actual truth ashamed they haven't the courage
to stand up against blatant greed and a total lack of concern for the working class.
Moore is a celebrity, a hyprocrite, and a capitalist. End of story.
When can we see the whole show online? It aired already on television. Why not air it at the same time? Will we have to wait 24 hours? Is this really high tech expectations? I think not.
I am glad to see Michael Moore on Piers Morgan again. I hope he returns soon. I am so grateful to Michael for all he has done throughout his life to inform Americans and act on the behalf of others. I am also very grateful to all the OCCUPY protestors everywhere for being peaceful and persistent. I'm especially thankful for the original OCCUPY WALL STREET protestors who had a vision and were brave enough to go carry it out and inspire so many others. Thank you all. Hopefully, working together we can change the direction we are headed before we crash and burn.
Don't forget about RoboCop and his crusade against crime in Detroit and the evil OCP
Don't you have a gate to keep?
I am glad that people like Pierce Morgan are sponsoring an inteligent conversation with Michael Moor, an out spoken, forthwright stalwart who is valiant enough to "Call a spade a spade". This country needs more like him to stand up for justice and fair-play. Yes, we need to support the "Wall Street" protesters and stand in solidarity with them. For too long, we have been complacent and looking the other way. Wake up concerned citizens of the USA, do not let the Coperations, Banks and Lobyst run this country. You have the power of the vote to elect the representatives to the Congress and the Senate that are just, ethical and having the integrity to run the country without bending to the will of the Wall Street barrons. Use your vote in 2012 and elect those representatives that will work for the larger good of this country and not just the filthy rich who have benefitted from successive governments that have allowed the Coperations, and Banks that are too-big-to-fail the freedom to do just as they want at the expense of the workers. Wake up America from sea to shining sea.
Oh no, I think I'm going to throw up. Do you really believe that bunk?
hahahahah. YOU'RE funny. Good one.
Is it that MIichel moore is brave enough to stand up to the right or is it that the right bamboozle all the others into leaving them alone. They argue nearly everyone round in circles as well as probably paying them out and coercing them too to so much effect that they get the liberal press argueing the rights point of veiw, they make sure their point of veiw gets heard so often everyone thinks it must be true, so the republicans filibuster everything and the right is so good at getting into the heads of everyone at using psychology that liberal journalist are begining to say that it is Obama who is holding things up.
The right is always kicking up such a fuss and calling people unfair, if they touch the right they say they are biassed and then the liberal press which is so proud of its lack of bias starts to be so fair that they can hardly speak for fear of doing somthing unfair.
I think the right all over the world has studied how to tie others up in knots and does it so well that it manages to dominate inthe propoganda machine in such away that it even gets the victimes of its policies voting for it, the churches help them do this, they all seem to bback up the right. This would not happen if the liberals weren't so afraid of looking unfair. MIchel Moore does not mind putting all his weight behind his ideas, he does not try to give a fair chance to the ideas of the right who are already good at finding their own chances.
Maybe he gives a lot of money away, maybe it is just that the right tie him up so in law suits that he has none left. rose macaskie madrid.
Piers Morgan has more patience than I do attempting the impossible and that is having an intelligent conversation with Americas No.1 Idiot Michael Moore. He is the biggest one sided conversationalist Ive ever seen in my life. He makes his point and then when someone tries to enlighten him on the real situation and not the hype BS he spews he just starts laughing and spatting out jibberish thats the true sign of a babbling idiot with nothing more than a self serving agenda.
Very disappointed with Piers as usual, and wish we could have listened to Micheal for 3 hours. Why we hired a Brit to take over an American job from Larry King only feeds more into what our country is doing. Very disappointing. He has no clue what is gong on for us. He said tonight to push the "hash" key. Well that is not a key that any American would have a clue what that means......I dont watch the show for him, just the guests. Very sad,
This may come as news to you but CNN's PMT airs in several countries in the world! I'm sure the hash key is familiar to most people. As for MM, he's an American hero to many non-Americans. I salute his dedication to putting the truth out there...
I believe Michael is sincere and really cares what happens to the working class in this country. Anyone that works for a living, and that does not mean work per se, rather work as with their hands and muscles, and sweat, and votes for a Republican, have to be about a peck short of a bushel. The folks in the South are always in the lower bracket of the poverty level, but vote for the Republicans because they are led to believe that guns and Jesus will bring them happiness. There are places in the South that do not have indoor plumbing and their kids suffer from all kinds of bad diseases from drinking bad water they get from springs, wells and creeks, but vote for Republicans because they are illiterate, and just plain stupid.
YES, We should VOTE this PRESident BACK for 4 more years...so we can have HIGH Unemployment, HIGH GAS PRICES, HIGH FOOD PRICES, HIGHER ENergy Prices, Double-dip Recession in the HOUSING Market AND LETS not forget SOLYANDRA....523MILLION $$$$ TaxPAYER money WASTED, GONE! YES....WE ALL NEED FOUR MORE YEARS OF THIS!
Get off your condescending HIGH HORSE. You're Nothing but a RACISTS. He's HAD THREE years to TRY and fix things and it's WORSE. He OWNS IT!
Its a fact that the guy got handed a crap load of problems from Bush. Not sure why everyone thinks in 3 years you can solve what was created in the 8 previous. Set aside all the hate attacks and see what he has done.
Really, I guess Obama is the only pres. in the last 35 yrs. that this is the case. Same complaint with them all. Wait, Clinton was capable and did create a surplus to cut the deficit. I am just guessing, but I bet you voted for W. BUSH who, in my oppinion created a situation where 3 or 4 terms in office couldn't be cured by anyone other than... Us.
Surely you jest! This president came into office when George W had put us in debt with war. He gave large breaks to the wealthiest among us, and cheated the 99% of fairness. Obama came in and changed the medical care to allow my Grandson to have access to medical care even though he has Juvenile Diabetes. Millions with pre-existing medical conditions also have access to medical care, thanks to Obama. He is protecting my Social Security and Medicare or else I would soon be homeless with pre-existing conditions. The right wants to end Social Security, Medicare, repeal the "Obamacare" which is a massive achievement. The Republicans have blocked so many possible advances that could have been made by Obama, but they chose to block all of us 99% to protect and to advance the interests of the 1%. They refuse to be fair about taxation. Jobs could have been created and quickly if they had not been childish and blocked plans to benefit the 99% of us. The extension of the tax reduction would have allowed the middle class to go out and spend the $1000+ that would improve our economy and add jobs. What, pray tell, have the Republicans done for you? Look what Obama has done for me and my family and is trying very hard to do for all of us without any cooperation from the Republicans. To block progress for all Americans is sinful.
Oh maybe we should all go back to the GWB era that started this mess! Obama said it could take over 4 yrs or more to correc the MESS that's been made. Please, Obama had his plate full of crap the day he took office!! You're blaming one man now for the tyranny of another regime that destroyed this country! It was during Bush's term that allowed banks to issue loans to people whether or not they could afford them. We cannot go back to the old days of hell. We need to move forward. However, Repukians don't want compromise; they'll do anything even if it means hurting the aveage Joe to keep the 1% happy. Michael Moore told it like it is tonite on Pier's Morgan. Greed in America did this & they are the ones who should pay dearly!!!
Okay, indoctrinated drone we call – Moosh!!!!!!!
We stupid people from the South aint thinking to well. We vote those rich white people into office and
go to their rallies like michael moore, george soros, Al "you stupid idiots believed me" Gore, and all the
other Hollywood, Adulterated, Destroy American crackpots.
WHY is this Hollyweird GOOFBALL on AGAIN? Yes, we should just give away EVERYTHING FOR FREE, RIGHT? Free Healthcare, FREE tuition, FREE Mortgages...What a WONDERFUL WORLD this would be! RIGHT? WHAT fairyland does this guy live in? Oh, right, Hollyweird! People like HIM, sitting on a TON OF $$$$$$$ CAN TALK! What about his DEMOCRATIC Friends Barney FRank and CHRIS Dodd, and lets not leave out BILL CLINTON who ALL thought EVERYONE SHOULD OWN A HOUSE even people on welfare and unemployment that couldn't make the payments. THAT'S where ALL THIS COLLAPSE CAME FROM! This guy (Moore) needs to go crawl BACK under his rock!
I'm sick of socialism and welfare for big banks and financial interests! When they are in trouble they are the first to ask for help. Stop blaming ordinary people.
Give me a break, Moore is an embaressment to the human race, do you really think he gives a rats butt about the occupyers! The snows coming, we'll see who's occupying when it gets real cold!
Wow, "Suzy Diamond" got to post that obvious tirade of an incoherent rant, and my post, with a mild praise of MM, gets censored? Seriously CNN?
MM sends his daughter to an exclusive private school in Manhattan. No consorting with you poor commoners for the Moore family!
Kudos to both CNN and Piers to finally airing a show that tries to cover the Occupy movement in a rational manner. I especially like having the audience participation where we can all hear real-life stories of the 99%. It puts a face to the lie that we are all just a bunch of lazy hippies that want a free handout. We love our country and the ideals of democracy and free-market capitalism. We are sick of crony capitalism and the plutocracy that we live under now. Politicians are bought and paid for by special interests and they no longer represent us. Time for a peaceful revolution to take back our country. This movement is unstoppable and we will take back our country and our democracy. And thank you Michael Moore for being a voice for the rest of us that have no voice. You have put yourself out there for years and bearing the abuse from those that don't want the system to change. First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you and then you win! We are definitely in the ridicule and fighting stage. It will be a long fight, but we are Americans, and we will win over the tyranny of corrupt politicians and crony capitalism. CNN and Piers please cover this issue every day. True patriots cover the oppressed yearning for our democracy and freedom, please be the true patriots in a sea of mainstream media that reminds me of Orwell's 1984.
Thank God for Mr. Moore! I get tired of the same old line, Americans are at fault for spending to much. That is like loading a classroom full of cake, cupcakes and ice cream then yelling at the kids for getting fat. The corporations spend millions educating the public on how it's ok to live beyond their means so they can get their money, it's a win win because they can just blame the people whom they convinced that it was "ok" later. Why didn't our educational system teach us how to avoid the dishonesty from corps? Because the corporations influence our education as well. It's big business all the way down to the first egg. The good thing is we know now, and won't be buying much of anything anymore. Goodbye support for the 1%. Thanks for the group lesson and lifting the veil on the new American dream. Back to mom and pop stores and the decent class! I'll never trust a word from any corporations from now on. It's a new day in America.
Regardless of political affiliation, politicians are all alike in their belief that the rest of us are not paying attention. In fact, I dare say they count on it. MM has done some good in pointing out the issues, and then behaves like a caracture of a caring person. If we really want change, voters would vote Libertarian.
There is no way Michael Moore is NOT part of the upper 1% and profits off the unfortunate, that also make many excuses. Also, with his high school education does he understand that if we continue to pummel US Corporations they will either not be able to compete globally, or will move their HQ and more jobs to other countries. The reason our labor is done in other countries is because the standard of living and therefore costs are much lower; a part he leaves out – we don't want to emulate these other countries.
I wish all the 1% would do what M. Moore is doing with his money for America. I don't think we'd have a problem if that was the case. It's the priorities of the 1% that the 99% have an issue with.
Look in your garage or in your driveway. Are you driving a vehicle made in North America. If not, don't complain about
about corporate "ETHICS" in America ! ! !
It's not that easy. My "American" car was manufactured in Mexico...
This democrat makes no mention of No tort reform the democrat mantra another phony – what about democrats who lined their pockets ???? Be honest not just a shill so you can make films!!
WHY is no one speaking out about what's REALLY going on in America as well as abroad? Can someone PLEASE talk about the REAL 1%? The REAL truth is we've all been victims of an evil master plan that has been in progress for generations. The current state of affairs in the USA and the wars abroad have all been finely orchestrated by none other than THE ILLUMINATI themselves. Their modus operandi is to make things appear to happen naturally and/or on its own. The protests worldwide are intentional so their solution can be to move us into their evil New World Order (NWO) plan- translation= enslavement. It's analogous to "start a fire so we can put it out". Why not have an open forum with the former President Bushs? Put them on the spot & ask them directly about the illuminati and their involvement. Michael Moore can you handle that? Most people have never heard of the IIlluminati because they have all the money & power to control everything including the media. They have bought everyone out, and those people who are aware of the illuminati are too afraid to speak out or take action in fear that they will meet with an "accidental" or untimely death as others have. Prove me wrong CNN! Have an open forum with questions about the Illuminati. Why not invite the former President Bushs and ask them directly about their iilluminati involvment? Ask them about the AMERO & the civil wars that are planned in the US. I dare you. Until there is an expose' on the Illuminati, their plans will continue as planned.
In the old days, when Gianini was head of BofA, the bank operated for and derived its income from its customers. It used deposit money to make loans to local businesses and derived its income from the interest on these loans. The bank was good. Today, Gianini is gone and the bank(s) have an incestious relationship with the Government whereby the banks borrow money from the Government at almost zero interest rate and can buy Government Securities paying 2-3% interest and can make tons of money. Small business and ordinary people are not wanted or needed and no loans are available. So much for the middle class and the American Dream.
The other problem is there seems no longer to be a need for good folks who are skilled with their hands. Many of these folks used to work in housing, but that died mostly due to evil and greedy banks and loan service companies who make money by foreclosure rather than helping keep ordinary folks in their home. I hear that there is a shortage of folks skilled and trained in high technology of one sort or another. Well, working with your head will not fix a leaking faucet or rehang a sticking door. Also, modern technology has yet to find a way to outsource to India or China the task of painting a room or mowing a lawn. Some things you just can't do via the digital age.
There is NOT A SHORTAGE of people in high technology jobs! Another brainwashing idea–if you say it enough ppl will believe it. I've been in the technology field for decades. I hold a MS degree & I'm unemployed. I know of many colleagues in the same boat. They want you to believe there is a shortage simply to justify the rampant outsourcing. CNN did a show recently w/experts who say the same thing- there is no shortage & there are THOUSANDS of engineering and comp sci graduates right now that are out of work. Michael Moore also said, and I agree, the deal is that corporations have caused much of the problem with their greed. They want to get richer by paying ridiculously low salaries – salary rates from 25 or 30 yrs ago & that's why many ppl now find themselves unable to find a job paying enough to pay their bills. It's like the middle class has been getting demoted with pay cuts for years now, while inflation continues to soar. Have you noticed how all the packaging is getting smaller in the food store? Less qty for more money. Pretty soon the 1/2 gal juice we used to buy will be so small, they will be sold in quarts or pints only. Our grocery stores are slowing becoming 3rd world groceries, where a head of lettuce is $4 and a gal of milk will be $5 .
My brother also had his job outsourced. His job and the jobs of his coworkers and the big boss all were sent over to Egypt. This was after they had started things from scratch in a brand new office, got it up and running and successful. They worked very hard and then their jobs were ripped right out from under them. Stay away from a French company that calls itself Orange or French Telecom.
At any rate, my brother moved to another state and the jobs where he moved were scarce (he didn't know that before he moved there), but he managed to find work. He thought outside the box and worked jobs that weren't in his line of work. I can't begin to tell you how many resumes he sent out. He was down for awhile and then all of a sudden he found another job, a really good job in his line of work in another state. He moved there and he was welcomed with open arms. The people were and are very nice to him.
He was just promoted.
I just want you and others out there who are looking very hard for another job to know that there is hope. My brother and I have both walked in your shoes and know what you are going through.
G-d Bless you all.
When Mr. Morgan ask Mr. Moore "who is to blame" and then he ask "Americans are not to blame at all"?? How ignorant that question sounds. The Corporate sector have been paying the government to create and enact policies that protect wealth. We know that some may have over spend beyond their ability to pay. But they were paying for their home for at least 10 years. When people are working they pay. Now, when people cannot pay corporate America did not pay either. They never lost a penny. First, credit cards charged a lot in interest than what they pay themselves. And when someone went bankrupt the corporations just declare it as a loss. So they are the ones who did not care to give credit to who ever. They never lost. Why, the loss of assets was protected by the law. It is still protected. Even companies go bankrupt.
Sure, people have gone over board with credit but the corporations are in charge of giving the credit. And they did not mind because they can always declare a loss and even if they had profits the tax credit were for the loss. In this matter the people are the ones who lost. They lost everything. Companies did not lost anything.
The disparity of income in the US is shameful. "In the United States, wealth is highly concentrated in a relatively few hands. As of 2007, the top 1% of households (the upper class) owned 34.6% of all privately held wealth, and the next 19% (the managerial, professional, and small business stratum) had 50.5%, which means that just 20% of the people owned a remarkable 85%, leaving only 15% of the wealth for the bottom 80% (wage and salary workers). In terms of financial wealth (total net worth minus the value of one's home), the top 1% of households had an even greater share: 42.7%." economist Edward N. Wolff at New York University (2010).
About the above post. In the same article: "In terms of types of financial wealth, the top one percent of households have 38.3% of all privately held stock, 60.6% of financial securities, and 62.4% of business equity. The top 10% have 80% to 90% of stocks, bonds, trust funds, and business equity, and over 75% of non-home real estate. Since financial wealth is what counts as far as the control of income-producing assets, we can say that just 10% of the people own the United States of America." (There is a pie but it did not paste). But here is the link. (hope it paste)
Hi all, from my own perspective respectfully, we are not free from all the worlds problems even though we have more snow...
I think MM is okay. I see a person willing to stand up and say what he feels needs to be said. Anyone that stands up and questions authority and or the bullies of the world get my respect.
i agree but morgan is just another politician and a bad one at that.
Was Abraham Lincoln a hypocrite for advocating abolitionism, even though he himself was a free man and indeed one of the 1% of his time? Mr. Moore should not be censured for his involvement with OWS. It's precisely because of his position that he can help make a difference.
Please have Michael Moore return. The hour last night did not do justice to the serious questions and concerns of the audience.
We need more people like Michael Moore in America to wake us up from the coma we have been in.
Who owns and runs the Federal Reserve Bank ? Who are the Board members ? This is considered an independent central bank because its decisions do not have to be ratified by the President of United States or anyone else in the executive or legislative branch of government, it does not receive funding appropriated by Congress, and the terms of the members of the Board of Governors span multiple presidential and congressional terms. Who runs Congress ?? The lobbies. Who are the lobbyist ?
Love America it's all we have.
Now that show was great! You need to do more of these shows, this country is in peril and so is most of the rest of the worlld This show hits upon it and shows our neighbors who have been hit by the lack of jobs/financial troubles. I even gave up watching Dancing With the Stars to watch this show.
Michael Moore is a man who cares deeply about this country. He's seen the worst of the worst happen in his own hometown. He knows from where he speaks, he's lived it. There's nothing like first hand experience. I don't agree with him about some things, but for the most part he's spot on!
I found it very interesting that when Pierce asked Moore who was to blame for the mess this country is in, the gave 100% of it to the corporations. Nothing to the government who he termed "servants". One should not blame the servants for doing the will of the masters riight?
Until he got to Bush then his hypocrisy showed. I enjoyed the interview up to that point as was sadly left with Moore being nothing but an obese self-serving hypocrite slob.
Just a fact check – admittance to the "top 1%" starts at 380,000 in AGI per year. The $960,000 number is an AVERAGE of everyone who is in the 1% and so includes people who make millions and billions. But, the bottom 1%ers make $380,000 per year. Michael Moore is in there. No doubt about it. Why not just admit it and move on? The fact that being successful in this country is being treated as some sort of shame to be hidden and lied about is disgusting.
How arrogant! He's basically saying "I'm rich, but the RIGHT kind of rich". He also thinks that his beliefs are the only valid beliefs.
Lets get some facts right, there is nothing wrong being rich but being richer by sending your tax dollars to over seas banks or hidden bank accounts and not paying your taxes or keeping you dollars in occupied country is whats going on.
Michale Moore pays his tax dollars in United States. Do you know where your tax dollar goes ?
I thought hearing from legit people with legit concerns and issues was a breathe of fresh air. To this point is has seemed as though the mainstream media wants to interview the most incompetent people to confirm their political and personal stance on the movement. http://www.helpthe99.com
Michael Moore has as much qualificaitons to speak on these issues as Pee Wee Herman. He's nothing but a hard left blowhard who makes comments to hear himself talk. He blames corporate America for 100% of our problems. I guess Corporate American put a gun to the head of all those people who bought a house or car that was well beyond their means. Therefore it's only right that the government should pay for all the bad decisions that people make.
Now that I think about it I want in on this deal. I'm going to go buy a $1 million dollar home and a $200,000 car and then default so that Moore will go to bat for me and make the government pay. Moore is a complete loser and CNN and the other liberal networks only provide him a channel to appeal to all his far left friends. From now on anytime I see Moore on CNN I'm changing the channel.
Michael got rich over his efforts and what is wrong with that, he saw a way to make films and highlite whats really wrong with society. If he did not who on earth will??
You could say hes making money off other peoples misery and plays to that , but I think that is not the case at all..
He did not intend I am sure to get rich it just happened.
What I wonder is does anything happens after these docs are aired, ie healthware, guns, GM, mass shootings
Did Walmart ever take guns and ammo off the shelf? Did attutudes change I think not.
Even in Canada with the Montreal school shootings I question why anyone needs a gun in Canada . You can get them at any sporting store...
As well greed is king in America and elsewhere unfortunately
Black slavery was reduced and white slavery started...
I heard on the news a while back that Walmart did indeed stop selling guns. If this policy has been reversed, then I am not aware of it.
Michael Moore is so full of BS and himself tha he can't think straight. Piers let him totally off the hook when it came time to "disclose" his networth. He doesn't consider himself part of the 1% even though he is??? Total BS...
Hey wake up ..It's the 1% that enable the rest of us to have employment and live the good life that we have. Without the idea people and entrepenuers ( the 1% ers) companies would NOT exist...
AMERICA NEEDS MORE OF MOORE .......SOONER RATHER THAN LATER
What has Michael Moore done other than continue to list problems. No doubt there are problems on both side of the aisle, but Mr. Moore doesn't offer any solutions to the problems. Did you see his interview with Piers Morgan? When the lady talked about her housing problem, which she admitted was at least partly her fault, he didn't have any solution to her problem. He deflected the issue by asking her that if she had wanted to move would she be able to. He has no answers
Why didn't Pres Obama END the TWO immediately after taking the oath of office...I would not have had any elaborate election parties,,I would straight to the Oval Office & try to end the two "BUSH" wars..save money, save lives !
In an hour interview I didn't hear Michael Moore offer one solution. When are these liberal "leaders" going to stop whining and listing problems and start offering solutions? We had a democratic white house and a democratic congress and still we are stuck with this economic disaster.
What a self righteous, self promoting tool this guy is. I'm tired of his anti establish BS when it is the establishment who made him what he is today. Give it a rest Michael....we're not interested in what you're "selling" today!
It is what it is. Say what u want about mr. moore I mean I don't like the guy either. But atleast he's pointing out the stuff most wont. I was watching and listening to a man named Alex Jones bout 8 yres ago, and he seriously called alot of what has been going on. Economy, laws and bills being passed. The talk of the amero dollar, just saying it would be a good name to look up i think he has a web site but it was long ago and i kno the militia trust the guy though they can be a lil over paranoid
Without the 1%ers this country would be similar to a third world country so I'm not sure what's so bad about those people. They are the ones that start businesses that the avg American works for., you know, the jobs we work so we can take care of our families.
Could you please send me the podcast with Michael Moore to my email address? We are talking about the United States and it would be interesting for the students. Thank you Monika
Perhaps Mr.Moore can release his next movie in theaters not under the control of corporations, only then will he show he is with the 99%ers.
He IS one of the 1%. HYPOCRITE! Take a look at ONE of his homes in Michigan! He earns MILLIONS and I don't blame him at all, nor should he apologize. That's what CAPITALISM is all about, but don't deny this Mr. Moore! Don't be the HYPOCRITE that you HAVE BEEN! People are NOT stupid as you think. With the internet, people can find out anything they want!
You understand that he GIVES most of his movies away for free right? You took the time 2 learn how much he made last year before that question was asked right?
What would be too funny would be if people stayed in tents in front of Micheal Moores multi-million dollar home. We would see if the food, heat, and cleanup crews come flowing freely then. Micheal Moore may not be able to lift the burden of all of the unfortunate but how about just a few dozen on his front lawn? haha
The intent of the 1983 legislation was to generate large Social Security surpluses for the next 30 years that were supposed to be saved and invested, in order to build up a large reserve in the trust fund that could later be drawn down to pay benefits to the baby boomers. The 1983 payroll tax hike has generated more than $2.5 trillion that is supposed to be in the trust fund. If the trust fund actually held this amount in real assets, full Social Security benefits could be paid until at least 2037 without any changes. Unfortunately, none of the surplus revenue was saved or invested in anything. It was all spent by the government on wars and other government programs without making any provisions for repaying the money.
Prior to 1983, Social Security had operated on a “pay-as-you-go” basis with each generation responsible for paying for the benefits of the generation that preceded them. The 1983 legislation changed the nature of Social Security funding. In addition to paying for the benefits of the preceding generation, as was customary, the baby boomers were also required to pay additional taxes to partially pre-fund their own retirement. The net result is that the baby boomers have paid more into Social Security than any other generation. Yet they are often made scapegoats and blamed for the Social Security funding problem. We are getting a bum rap.
Over the past 25 years, five presidents, and the members of Congress, have participated in the great Social Security scam. All Social Security contributions made by working Americans, except the amount which was needed to pay current retirement benefits, has been funneled into the general fund and used for non-Social Security purposes. Some like to say that the government just “borrowed” the money during the time period when it was not needed to pay benefits. If the money is not repaid in full, with interest, it will have been stolen by the government from working Americans who paid into the fund. Congress must pay their debt to the American workers. They should be held accountable for the $4.63 trillion that they have borrowed. Forgiving this debt is not an option! Section 13301 of the Budget Enforcement Act of 1990 made it a violation of federal law to use Social Security revenue for non-Social Security purposes. As of 2011 4.63 trillion dollars have been stolen from SS. My questions are, why aren't these politicians behind bars and what recourse do we have to prosecute these scoundrels?? Gus Piliafas
Michael Moore is not the one destroying the economy or doing damage, If you're upset with Moore, your an idiot!
This was in The Detroit News today regarding Moores
Hypocrisy of Michael Moore’s opulent home
BY HENRY PAYNE The Detroit News
Millionaire filmmaker Michael Moore’s 10,000-square-foot summer mansion on Torch Lake in northern Michigan is a pad right out of Robin Leach’s “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” with a sprawling lakefront facade looking out over deep, azure waters that have attracted America’s very rich for decades. And like Moore’s primary address on the gold-lined streets of Park Avenue, Torch Lake is a long way from the grimy turf of Oakland, Calif., City Hall and Zuccotti Park, where 1-percenter Moore poses as a spokesman for the Occupy Wall Street movement. From Torch Lake to Charlevoix to Bay Harbor on Lake Michigan, northern Michigan’s coastal region is where the successful come to relax. Fellow Moore celebrities like Bruce Willis, Madonna and Tim Allen all have homes here. As do corporate execs that occupy protesters despise: Big Three millionaires such as ex-Chrysler Chairman Bob Eaton, and auto mogul Bill Schuiling and boat-magnate John Winn among them. But calling Moore’s lake property a “home” would be an understatement. This is a manor. A Kennedy compound. An ostentatious, big-foot show of wealth. Flint-native Moore bought the original 2,500-square-foot home, local real estate sources say, then gobbled up two surrounding lots to expand his massive estate. Antrim County public records show the property in the name of Moore and his wife, Kathleen Glynn, and lists its taxable value at nearly $1 million. (In Michigan, taxable value is roughly half of market value.) Local real estate agents estimate the real value of the 7,500-to 12,000-square-foot compound at $2 million. The filmmaker’s millions have come in part from sweet subsidy deals that occupiers decry as payoffs to the politically connected rich. In 2010 Moore received a $1 million handout from the Michigan government to make his anti-1 percenter movie, “Capitalism: A Love Story.” But Moore hardly needs to take money from the pockets of this state’s 99 percenters. One of his previous movies, “Fahrenheit 9/11,” has made $222 million. “I’m saying that we do not have a complete democracy if the economy is not a democracy,” Moore told CNN in 2009 in denouncing the same special interest tax handouts he has taken. “(Corporations) think the richest 1 percent should be calling all the shots, should be buying the politicians, making the decisions.” Moore’s hypocrisy is a perfect fit for a confused occupy movement that boasts support from Big Labor, millionaire musicians and spoiled Harvard kids. The filmmaker rallied the crowd in front of Oakland City Hall in California by urging them to expand their protests to leafy suburbs like Oakland’s middle-class Walnut Creek. “That’s where all the money is, right?” he said. Actually, Torch Lake is where the money is. In addition to taxpayer subsidies, Moore’s wealth comes from multinational corporations such as Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment — a subsidiary of Sony — that distributed “Fahrenheit 9/11” on DVD. As Occupy Detroit and other encampments get curfewed out of America’s inner cities, they should look to squat in the wealthy estates of northern Michigan. Call it Occupy Michael Moore. firstname.lastname@example.org (313) 222-8815 Henry Payne is the cartoonist for The Detroit News and editor of TheMichiganView.com .

Mr. Moore is the worst type of hypocritical guy. He has enough money that it doesn't matter to him how the laws he will back will bog the rest of us down in red tape! It will be done in our best interest as if we are to stupid to govern ourselves. Thanks for nothing Mr Moore. Oh and when are you going to give away all your dollars live like the common man and charge nothing for your movies? Do that and I will be impressed. Until then shut up.
Michael Moore is one of the most extreme Capitalist this country has ever seen. If you ever do your research you will learn. He associates with only the wealthy hollywood executives when making his movies. No independents get a chance to make a dollar off his movies. He gives nothing to charity. He once paid off a web site who talked bad about him to take down his web site. He bribed the guy by paying for his bills so the guy would take down the site. That is the only donation I can find that he has ever made. The people that buy his movies could use jobs and hand outs. He could give them jobs on his movies or do a movie for charity ... but he never does ... wake up people!
I am sure MM and his film companies have used every tax loophole, every incentive offered to him for coming to an area to film, and every talk show that will let him waddle onstage to vent his "I'm shocked, shocked that gambling in going on" innocence to America. Does he REALLY think he speaks for the average American? Seriously. Give me a break. He is just another ego-meister out to listen to himself rant and to his "groupies" tell him how great he is. Where is that remote?
Moore does not need to go on these shows to make money and his life has been threatened in the past by similar weirdos that post on here or post about his weight which looses all credibility in anything they have to say.
The guy is the only one out there taking abuse talking about real problems Americans have and not giving up.
Good for him at least someone has the balls
Like Michael asked: "What's the point?" in regard to MM being in the one percent. Is Piers trying to say that Michael is too rich to help anyone or do anything good for America?
Could you guys PLEASE hit the point that Homes cost Americans 500% more than they did in 1999 due to Banks trying to sell higher valued securties. It is not about the CLASS WAR or GAP of earning power, it is that the TOP earners STOLE THE MONEY from millions of tax payers and thier Gov't. After they STOLE the money they cried poor and they were given bonuses.
It is very difficult to listen to Piers Morgan talking about how irresponsible the average American Citizen is, when he is sitting on this program, like he can relate to the average American Citizen. I would imagine that he doesn't have a clue, if he would like to compare his salary from CNN to what the average middle of the road, if your lucky to be employed, citizen. I find him to be arrogant and full of it, of course, there will be many who will talk that Micheal Moore is a rich celebrity, but at least he speaks out against what the middle class are going through. Piers Morgan does not have a clue, and he has lost this viewer.
moore said if the value of the home goes down 100thousand people should be able to refinace at that value, what if the value goes up, does the bank come in and refinace at that value! this guy must have a 7th grade education!!!
Michael Moore does not act like a 1% er but Pier Morgan certainly does! I wonder how many millions Piers makes while acting hollier than thou? He certainly protected the rich last night in his interview with Moore....Piers is one arrogant non-citizen sometimes....
Hey Piers, you effete snob,
Even if Moore makes over $400k/year, like you, he is part of 1% who supports the 99%, who works FOR democracy and justice, instead of against it. You, Piers, could come out for the 99% publicly, but that would probably cost you your job. Coward. Try making a difference instead of making a buck, the change is coming, and we know which side you're on.
Michael Moore writes books and makes films, he is not a capitalist. Capitalists live off the interests on their capital, they get a return on investment from their money. Michael more works for his money, he creates things and ideas, thus he earns his living. While capitalists act as parasites, gamblers gaming the system and manipulating the rules to their own advantage to steal the wealth earned by the work of others. The Capitalist inherit, they marry, or they steal, but they don't create anything. There is a difference between 'capitalism' and a free-fair-market.
Moore is, indeed, a capitalist. He has invested in the same firms that he claims to be fighting against. And he's always used non-union labor on his movies. The man is a liar and a hyprocrite. The man can't even freely admit that he's a part of the 1%.
Last week your interview of Michael Moore was outrageous. You badgered him the whole interview and wouldn't let him speak. You ended up doing 70% of all the talking yourself. I wanted to hear what Michal Moore had to say. Not your evaluation of the American's personal responsibly soap box you got on. You are the interviewer not the interviewee. You had a political agenda that was to shut him up. Contrast that the next night was Donald Trump where you were as sweet as candy and so respectful allowing him make all the political points he wanted. I don't know what is happening to CNN with this Price and Erin Burnett but it seems like a Fox News takeover of CNN.
I completely agree, and did you see the interview with President Obama last night by Steve Kroft on 60 Minutes? Talk about totally negative.. he kept bringing up every negative "fact" or statement he could to make the president look bad. Luckely, President Obama wasn't sucked into his traps and came back with answers for every one of his put downs, dismantaling his attack beautifully. What is happening to our supposed, unbiased news channels?
At first I thought Piers was just trying to give Michael a chance to answer all the negative comments about him and the "liberals" being voiced by the right wing nuts and Republicans. Very few of his questions/comments were positively oriented. Then I watched his interview with Donald Trump the very next night... nary a negative word or disagreement was uttered by Perse, he seems quite enamored with Donald, I was really amazed.. there was so much he could have brought up and asked about. Now I am really doubting I can put Perse in the unbiased interview catagory anymore, he seems to be leaning more in the direction of a subtle spoksman for the right, very disappointing.
Michael Moore couldn't possibly be in the top 1%. Look at the size of him. Any money he has, he eats. A man with a lot of money wouldn't abuse himself with food as much as Mr. "Mooooore is better" does.
Columbine was his finale.
Entertainers (athletes, actors, musicians) can't be part of the 1%, just corporate bosses.
You can be part of the top 1% and still care about and help the other 99%
