Giuliani on Gingrich: "What was done to him in Iowa was horrible" but "contain that anger"

Rudy Giuliani is a guest on "Piers Morgan Tonight" this evening – making him the guest with the most appearances on the show this year. He talks about the growing war of words between Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. "You can empathize and sympathize with Newt," Giuliani tells Piers Morgan. "I think what was done to him in Iowa was horrible."

But he doesn't agree with Gingrich's strategy now: "Newt should contain that anger and should stick with intellectually honest attacks on Romney." Watch the full interview tonight – also on the show: "The Obamas" author Jodi Kantor.

Giuliani said that he knows of five private equity firms that do not want to invest in companies because they are afraid of what President Obama will do. Why don't you ask what five companies he is referring to; what investments are they holding back on because of Obama and what specifically are they afraid Obama will do; and flush out the actual facts.

    Piers,
You should read article this week in Los Angeles Times about Private Equity Firms. Toward the end of the article, statistics are cited about job loss/creation as a result of private equity firms...generally, neither great loss nor great additions result after the dust has settled...

I took a particular interest in Guilliani's remarks on energy. The reason wind and solar energy are so low is because people like Guilliani give in to the political 'support' from oil companies. Call it what you want; speaking engagements, appearances, whatever... is it's a payoff to support a greedy cause. Shocker that wind and solar are at 1 %.

He's as out of touch with science as he was with the city of New York, and by that I mean the real New York–not the New York the media portrays him as a hero in.

Ninety percent what Giuliani says about Obama is nothing but lies. I am surprised that Pier didn't ask him about the meltdown that got us in trouble.

Last time I looked...the taliban didn't sign on for the Geneva Convention "rules". These would be the same filth that don't think twice about murdering and maiming US Marines on a daily basis. The taliban guys are dead because they were trying the KILL the Marines. I don't think "peeing" on someone that was trying to KILL you is that big of a deal. I guess its OK to throw acid on little girls trying to learn to read but god forbid...a lilttle urine is an international "war crime".

I love how Giuliani says that the only two Republican candidates that stand a chance at defeating Mit Romney are Newt, and Santorum. Ron Paul was projected as coming in second place in the South Carolina and appears to be ignored by the main stream media.

Even though the economy is at the top of the list for most Americans, over the past 6 years Romney could have worked independently to make positive changes in OUR America, for All Americans. He did nothing but increased his personal wealth. Let's prove our character every day, instead of during a campaign promoting a what's good for today's agenda. I do not believe Romney has proven to be a true person of character. Flip flopping on abortion, gay rights, fair tax and many political platforms, which would help the middle class, as well as the poor. Bain was a win for Romney, wealth by hurting many. Success in the Olympics was a given, Utah! He doesn’t discourage entrepreneurs who have gained wealth from declaring bankruptcy. He’s aware of politicians who continue to gain wealth through unfair stock purchases while being on special committees. So I ask, why hasn't Romney ever given specifics? It gets old when he never gives a decisive answer to any question. Can you honestly say you know what he stands for when his answer is a continual attack on Obama? I can't. I am proud to be an intelligent free thinker. I could never vote for Romney for I honestly don't trust him. And even though we have tried to skew away from the fact that Mormonism wouldn't be an issue, I believe it would. My community has questioned many areas of concern in our local government, regarding contracts, hiring, promotion practices, as well as real estate transactions, and public school oversight. For over 15 years, I had been very involved with our Mormon community, and learned quite a bit. Separation of church and state will never occur. Agendas will continue secretly and we won't be able to question. Blacks and illegals have been accepted to expand their religion. One should be smart before taking this leap of faith. I do not want a Presidency with hidden agendas. This truly is a very important factor in attaining this Presidential position. My vote will be for someone I feel I can trust, can you?

The Republicans are trying to distance themselves from the meltdown that caused all of these problem by saying Obama is the cause of the state of the economy. You are so right this guy, Romney has never presented a plan on how he will fix the economy.

a Random John: even over 60% of the Evangelicals in Iowa recognize this, or at least didne2€™t vote for him. True, which means that Huckabee is more smiply GOP rank & file folks than just evangelicals. And he is statistically tied in Florida but more importantly in Michigan. He has all the momentum now to go all the way. In NH, as Dick Morris points out correctly, then independants now have reason to jump to Obama against Hillary. But then amongst republicans McCain is not only leading but on an upwards trend, plus the papers are against Romney. So unless Romneys negative adds and attacks can change peoples minds in what, 5 days, it will be a McCain win with probably Huckabee second due to this Iowa bump. I agree that Romney is a good candidate as a good person, faithful and that; but he's run the wrong campaign. Wrong party to start with since he should've stayed pro-life and pro-gays with Kennedy. There is still a lot to write and a long way to go with this but mark my words here, 1)Romney is finished and 2) If Obama wins, probably will, then Utah will go blue this time round just to support a black candidate. And women will make up the bulk of that Utah vote especially in Salt Lake City! I think under 50 s are tired of being seen as anti-black mormons by the rest of the nation.
