In the aftermath of Whitney Houston's death, on Saturday Piers Morgan hosted live, breaking news coverage, as legendary performers and music insiders shared their thoughts on the singer's passing:
"Whitney was like family to me," said Smokey Robinson. "'Whit' was one of the greatest singers to ever open her mouth to sing. And I know that 'Whit' would want the world to remember her that way. I know that she’d hope people would remember her profound talent and to think of her in a positive light."
On the eve of the Grammy's, Houston's death also brought into the light the pressure of achieving longevity in the music industry, and the difficult balance between public persona and private life:
"There used to be a time when all you had to do was survive your own craft," said Lionel Richie. "They didn’t know anything about your personal life. All of a sudden now we have every single day there is at tweet there’s a blog there’s a blurb about some part of your personal life."
Tune in to "Piers Morgan Tonight" at 9pm ET/PT for a special live program remembering, and paying tribute, to Whitney Houston.

I was really hoping that tonight Pierce's show would NOT be covering Miss Whitney. Especially after FULL coverage all weekend long.... I continually question the reason why the American media seems so absorbed with celebrity. I understand Whitney's true talent, why do people want to make celebrities into so called icons...when really some of them seem to just give their true talent away when they live their lives with such self destruction.
If you want to discuss people who actually matter, why not do a two day story on each member of our military who gets killed? I guess that would be too difficult to successfully sensationalize. But the crackhead who just happens to have a pretty voice is more pertinent, right?
Whitney wasted half of her life. She's an exponentially greater waste of life now that she is wasting a bit of each of ours with her deadness.
Whitney Houston is dead. If only the idea of her was dead as well.
James wrote: Whitney wasted half of her life.
Despite her all-too-human foibles, Whitney Houston accomplished more in one day of her spectacular talent-filled life than James will accomplish in all the days of his un-self-actualized, talentless, judgmental, uncompassionate, miserable existence. Whitney is resting now in the arms of her Savior. James will meet his Maker one day and the question will be, "Why did you waste the life I gave you by commenting on articles in such hateful language?"
I want to say to Mr. Piers Morgan, please stop trying to vilify Mr. Bobby Brown as the reason for Ms. Houston's challenges with addictions. In many of your interviews with people close to Ms. Houston you seem to have this "witch hunt" of wanting to blame Mr. Brown. No one is without flaws but in the Black community we embrace our own even with our flaws-we were praying for both Ms. Houston and Mr. Brown to overcome their challenges! A God-given voice of inspiration has transitioned from the challenges of this often mean and cruel world!

That's what Morgan does. Tearing down people who are his betters is his raison d'etre and always has been. For readers not fully aware of Morgan's "credentials," he was an entertainment reporter for The Sun (1989–94), and editor of News of the World (1994–95) and the Daily Mirror (1995–04). He did plenty of damage to people's reputations at all of them, and laughed about it all the way to the bank. Lying, gossip, unfounded innuendo, going for the jugular...the whole ball o' wax.
After having practically been run out of Britain on a rail (Iraq photo hoax), Morgan took Simon Cowell's advice and moved to the U.S. where American viewers don't really know his tawdry tabloid history. Now Morgan's sordid past is being exposed along with every other low life at NOTW, etc. Without a public acknowledgement–indeed, an apology for deceiving the public during his years as a presence at not one but three notorious British tabloids–I don't think Morgan will ever be able to wash the stink off himself from being mentored by Rupert Murdoch and Kelvin Mackenzie, both repulsive yellow journalists. Now he's trotting himself out as a quality but "dangerous" mainstream interviewer on CNN. Shame on CNN for hiring this disreputable and lame excuse for a journalist. It’s a sad day for journalism when Piers Morgan is considered “quality journalism.”

I believe there is strong possibility that Whitney Houston felt as though she was being replaced and maybe the Piers' interview with Clive and Jennifer Hudson, the person she was being replaced with, was the nail in the coffin. I think the situation is similar to a husband replacing his wife with a younger woman. Whitney could no longer hit the notes that she did during her peak, Clive is now putting all of his energy into Jennifer Hudson, and on numerous occasions he has compared her to Whitney. Additionally, Jennifer has made a major transformation. She has lost a lot of weight, has improved her wardrobe, gained more recognition, and even her Grammy appearance this weekend was similar to Whitney's.
ma fave part it wen she closed her eyes it made me cry sebauce ts sad how her life and carrer went down hill i undrstand shes tryna get it together but her voice isnt jst the same as it was before her voice is still beautiful nd shes very beautiful,,,
