Michael Hastings on Barack Obama: "We shall see"

On Thursday evening, "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomed author and journalist Michael Hastings for a candid and engaging interview on subject matter ranging from Afghanistan to Washington.

Having recently joined "Buzzfeed," and been tapped to cover Barack Obama's reelection campaign, Hastings describes first meeting the president, who was then a Junior Senator, in Baghdad five years ago:

"You could tell this guy was obviously one of the most talented politicians around, clearly he vindicated that," remembers Hastings.

While Hastings notes that there have been "some troubling aspects" with Obama's first term, he maintains the president has completely reshaped American foreign policy:

"I call it the 'taxicab bump': During the Bush years, when you'd get in a taxicab in a foreign country, and you told them you were American, they really, really, really didn't like that," Hastings tells Piers Morgan. "But ever since Obama's been in charge, when you get in a taxicab in Iman, or even Bagdad, they're pretty, you get the bump, and they appreciate the Americanism of it."

Watch the clip, and listen to the interview, as the author of "The Operator" details some of Obama's recent successes, and explains his goals for covering the upcoming election.

I live in Canada, therefore, although my opinion is probably irrelevant, I believe that Barack Obama (in spite of the nay-saying Congress) has accomplished a great deal for the American people.
Having always been a conservative-centrist supporter I am disgusted by the tactics employed by the Republicans since Obama's term started.
I believe that President Obama has earned a second term in office, not only to continue his efforts for Americans, but to reinforce the uplifted global perception that he has achieved for his country and his people.
This man is the first true Statesman that the USA has produced in many, many years. A real Gentleman !
