READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
On Monday, funny-man, actor, and standup comedian Lewis Black visited "Piers Morgan Tonight," offering his unique brand of humor and perspective.
As the subject turned to Kirk Cameron's recent remarks, during which the actor-turned-evangelist called homosexuality "unnatural," Black insisted such views are outdated, and suggest an aversion to science:
"We're in the future now. This is the 21st Century," declared Lewis to Piers Morgan. "Were they beaten by nerds in chemistry classes? Did they burn their hands on Bunsen burners?"
Currently gearing up for his brand new comedy show, "Running on Empty!," Black later went on to detail his opinion of this year's race for the GOP presidential nomination:
"I think it's one of the most-spectacular races I've ever watched, if it was like, maybe 1958. If I was watching this in black and white, I would be really thrilled about it."
Watch the clips, and listen to the interviews, as Lewis Black holds nothing back in his take on society, politics, religion, and culture.

Piers .. seriously ... Kirk did not say he hated them, he said he loved them. Give us all a break and stop getting the "opinions" of these .. experts? Oh, and report the truth if you're going to keep this going.
He loved them. Are you kidding any of us. He sat there and talked the usual "Christian" line that we're sick and against the correct manner of living and loving. It's more than what he said. Love us? Keep his love.
never ask someones opinion when you know it differs from your own. Kirk spoke the bible's truth so stop hating on him. he did not say anything hateful toward anyone he disagrees with it that is all stop thinking everyone is wrong when they disagree with you.
If that's love, he can keep it. I don't think the gays want it, and I don't want his ignorant view of things either. He needs to go hunt for his crocoduck.
Why is his view "ignorant." Just because it differs from yours? My God, you "tolerant" folks aren't very tolerant.
Cameron's view isn't ignorant because it differs from ours, it is ignorant because it differs from reason and observation. In other words, it differs from reality.
He is only stating what is written in the Bible, just because the world evolves doesn't mean that people who believe, have to, or should ignore what is written in it. And yes, marriage was meant to be between a man and woman, to pro create, be gay or not, but marriage should only be the "old" way.
Yann, maybe each individual church can decide how to define marriage commisioned by that church but we're talking about marriage commisioned by the state. Do you remember a little thing called separation of church and state? I'm sure you would love to have a church run state.
Piers, you are kissing up to the lefts, you afraid of being attack, Just be a journalist, leave Kirk alone. He told you the truth. 1% of the population are controling agenda.
gezae- Kirk did NOT tell the truth. He expressed a very shallow and ignorant OPINION. I'm sorry that you are too s t u p i d to know the difference.
Act like Christ would have or stop saying you are a follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus truly loved his neighbor. He fought for the poor and the hungry and felt it was easier for a poor person to get into the kingdom of heaven than a rich person could fit through the eye of a needle. He would never hate gays, blacks, hispanics and all the other groups the Republicans hate. He would definitely not be in favor of Corporations, the rich people that buy the elections or the people that destroy the Earth for their corporate greed and he would definitely think it was a sin beyond belief that the wealthiest nation on Earth has 50 million of our poorest citizens without access to health care! If you want to follow Jesus, then follow what Jesus would do and ask yourself one question. If Jesus were here today, would he be a democrat and care about the poor and underprivaleged or a republican and care about the rich people and corporations at the expense of the poor? It is not even close and if you really believe and are not just a poser hiding behind his church, you better ask for forgiveness for the sins of being a greedy capitalist and a pretend follower of Jesus of Nazareth! Not only a great man and the Son of God.
Sorry but no way would Jesus be a democrat nor a republican. Yes Jesus would serve the poor, the widow and the fatherless. God calls for his people to protects those who have no voice or little social status. He would also speak out against the murder of babies Jesus would be ProLife.
I never read one instance in the Bible where Jesus "fought for the poor". He in fact said "you will ALWAYS" have the poor. He instructed people to serve one another and lift each other up. He never said the government should be caring for the poor(and look at the crappy job when they do!) He did not hate anyone, but He certainly NEVER indicated that people could continue to live in sin and still end up in Heaven. People have a choice to turn from willful ignorance and those that chose to continue in it need to stop blaming others when the truth of their sinful lifestyle choices are brought to light.
the 10 commandments speak against murder right? so im sure Jesu would support abortion too.
It is indeed true that Jesus said that it was "EASIER for a camel to go through ...". He did not say it was impossible for someone with wealth to go to heaven. Remember his good FRIEND Lazarus – the man was rich. And it is wrong to assume and judge that someone with wealth is less generous or giving or loving than a person that has no money. What a judgmental society we live in! There is a lot of poor trailer trash out there that molest, beat, and murder children. We read about that way too often. Jesus spoke of His repulsion for those that harm children – like put a "millstone" around their neck and cast them into the water. Poor and rich alike are sinners in need of redemption. The poor can also be consumed with envy – remember the tenth commandment? It isn't that money is the root of all evil, it is the "LOVE" of money that is evil. You can be poor or rich and LOVE money. As far as His loving gays. Of course, but they are sinners in need of redemption. As with everyone, He certainly loved the "woman caught in adultery". Remember, after rebuking her accusers as hypocrites, He then told her, "go and sin no more." He would have the same message for the gays: "go and sin no more." If you disagree, then you are subscribing to the "abridged version" of God's Word – one that is tailored to your sinful opinion not your eternal needs.
Wait, Jesus wasn't a democrat? Oh crap.
please go read the bible verse you are very badly trying to make fit your point of view. after you read it, find someone that can explain it to you. man are you misinformed.
How is keeping people in poverty by continually giving them handouts through generations, helping the poor? How is seeing the fruits of your labor and working so you can eat, catering to the rich? How is voting for the right to kill babies for decades God's will? Your views are unfounded and NOT WJWD
It is true that Jesus loves people, but it is also true that He hates sin. The Bible says that no sin can enter heaven. He died in the cross to pay for our sins so that we can go to heaven. Jesus is neither Democrat nor Republican, but he hates those who causes people to sin and He has very strong words against them. People who thinks Jesus said nothing but love, love, love, love are very uninformed about the Bible. Jesus has very strong words against people who continue to sin and causes others to sin. Please WWJD do not misrepresent Jesus for the sake of political correctness. Because, when you do that you sin against God. Do not try to quote from the Bible just for the sake of winning in an argument. God provided the Bible to help those who are seeking Him to become closer to Him. If you misquote the Bible to use it to win in an argument God will prove that you are a liar at judgment day! The Bible said that you will be judged for every careless words you said.
What he said- "I think that it's unnatural, I think that it's detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization."
Doesn't sound very "christian" or loving to me.
Yeah he's free to express his opinions, but words, especially careless and ignorant ones, can have serious consequences. Have you all been blind to the rash of bullying of gay kids? It's "loving" words like Kirk Camerons that make some mentally frail i d i o t s think that their religion gives them freedom to attack (physically and mentally) anyone who is different than they are. It makes so called "christians" think that they are better and more deserving of human rights than others.
In short it's BE ES like this that got Matthew Sheapard bludgeoned and crucified on a barbed wire fence and makes gay teens commit suicide rather than face such loving words from Kirk and those of like mind.
cthomson, I agree. Piers speaks of tolerance towards gays but cleraly he is not tolerant towards those that view it as wrong.
Um, so what you're saying is that he is intollerant of those who are intollerant. Well, yeah. Duh. Nothing wrong with that.
So what you are saying is that intolerance is ok, but only when it serves your purpose?
Why do you think that you or anyone else has the right to tell Gay people that they are wrong. How do you know what is right and what is wrong? They are just living their life the way God created them. Be tolerant of other people if they are not hurting anyone and not so self righteous or you will never see the Kingdom of God! Follow Jesus and not false preachers that have so much hate in their heart. Jesus is love, tolerance and caring for the underprivileged. Please look at yourself and see if you deserve to say that you are a true follower of Jesus. There is no room for hate, greed or intolerance for the underprivileged if you are a true follower.
Yes the whole, who are you to say what is right and wrong. By this logic, Bin laden and other terrorist are neither right or wrong when they kill people, as you say thats just how God made them.
Jesus is all about love and serving the poor, but Jesus did not have lots of tolerance. He rebuked the religous leaders often, he spoke truth to hypocrites, he churned the money lenders tables over, he condemned greed ect
Piers is a intolerant hypocrite.... Why does he think he has the right to impose his views on Kirk and people who disagree with him?
trying to answer your comments in order: Because in this country we have the right to speak out. Because if you're going to mention the Judeo-Christian God, that Kirk is referring to, then you must adhere to what He says. And the Bible is clear that God did not create us as gay, straight, bi, whatever...in other words He didn't create us to be sinful. We choose to be sinful. We may not choose our attractions, but we certainly choose to ACT on them...and that can be sinful behavior. Jesus was NOT tolerant of sin, He forgives those who REPENT. Kirk was being tolerant of others He was ASKED his opinion and he is not a false preacher, he's not even a preacher. Aren't you being intolerant by making ALL these accusations?
right, he intolerant of the intolerant..... works for me....
So pathetic when the intolerant attackers try to play the victim.
"How dare you object to my treating you like a lesser human being! You're supposed to shut up and take it!"
Calling gays unnatural and say that they will destroy society is not love!
Yes, but that involves logic and sadly many bigots lack the ability to think logically.
Oh, stop it. He thinks logically. He just puts things together differently than you do. That's not bigotry. It's simply a difference of opinion from yours. Why can't you accept that? You know, the world doesn't have to look the way it looks to you. Acceptance. Diversity - remember?
Actually, Cameron doesn't think logically at all. He thinks religiously. Religion defies logic in many respects.
Whoa... not believing in another human beings basic rights is "a difference of opinion"?
Jesus... save me from your followers.
I'm all for freedom of speech, but having to defend your speech is part of the package deal.
It will destroy society. I don't want my 5 year old seeing two men hugged up slobbering on each other. That is UNNATURAL.
It's actually perfectly natural and occurs independently in nature all the time. My two dogsa for instance are doing what comes naturally to them right now.
Then make sure they don't read Bible stories about David!
I feel the same as you. It's down right disgusting to see this behaviour...NOT natural.....God loves the sinner NOT the sin!!
Do you know how two gay men consumate their relationship? are you willing to do that too if you're a guy? do you believe that you are made to do that too? do you still think it's natural?
are you willing to do it to a girl?
jesus said these acts are a stench in the nostrils of god. sounds pretty straight forward (no pun intended), to me.
Matt, if you take it out of context like that, I can see how you would arrive at that opinion. Is a father showing love when he disciplines a child? You might not think so if you walked in at the latter half of the incident. Am I showing love if I tell a friend in an adulterous relationship that he is going against the values of marriage and he is being destructive? It might not seem loving but if I didn't care I'd say nothing. I can care about and love people who are fornicating left and right, in fact I do, and that doesn't mean that I can't share what God says on the matter. They have the right to say "I don't believe that" However, the backlash on Cameron is an indication of the intolerance displayed by those crying out for tolerance.
I rarely feel compelled to respond to a tv show, but this one needs some responses.
First, do not lump all Christians together as if we only have one brain. Both Piers and Lewis did this in the interview.
Second, don't tell me that being gay isn't a choice when I have 2 gay friends (yes I do have gay friends) who have both told me their stories and that they DID choose to be gay. Even people who believe that people are born gay need to realize that for some, it really is/was a choice.
Third, Lewis needs to read the Bible before he says he knows what IT says about how Christians should behave. No where in the Bible does it say that Christians should not express what they believe including what they consider a sin. In fact, we are taught to try and help those that who are sinning to see that they are and repent of it.
Fourth, science versus science fiction beliefs have nothing to do with whether being gay is a sin or not...neither does the fact that we are in the 21st century. Christians are taught that the Bible, God's Word, is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, so our beliefs should not change based on time going by. This was another point that both Piers and Lewis seemed to feel was absurd.
Fifth, God's Word also says in a nutshell that He loves all of us, including the sinners. What he does not love is the sin.
Sixth, do not assume that I feel that I am holier than thou and have no sins of my own. I do sin, and I do ask God's forgiveness on a daily basis.
Finally, I sincerely hope at some point Piers will have another discussion about this issue and that He will have a more tolerant opinion and reaction to views that are so different from his own. I do not necessarily agree with how Kirk stated some of his opinions, but I do not think he deserves to be vilified because of them. As a society, we seem to be much more accepting of secular groups and opinions than we are to Christians and others who are similar in beliefs.
Dana, I really hope that you get outside of your bubble one day and see the real world. Learn from people of different cultures, races, religions and educations. Your comments are so laden with ignorance, I almost just ignored you and left your to wallow in your blindness. But for the sake of the many gay men and women in the world, I feel the need to comment on your statements.
First of all, who we are attracted to is not a choice. It's chemistry. Are you suggesting that you can choose to be attracted to someone of the same se.x? Try it and see. I am a straight man and I have tried to be attracted to men, and let me assure you, it doesn't work. To engage in se.x with someone of the same se.x IS a choice, as is engaging in bondage or any particular position in s.ex. It also happens to be none of your f-ing business.
Lastly, it IS a choice to believe in a magical superhero in the sky that you have no evidence to support. If you just shut your mouth and kept your crazy inside, I wouldn't particularly care what you fantasized about. But since you feel the need to come out of the closet, I personally find your choice to be obscene and offensive to morally decent folk. People like you are the reason that people like me lump all christians into one grouping, ignorant.
Actually, there are not that many gay men and women in the world. I'm just sayin.
Ashrakay, I am so sorry you are so mistaken. You did not even read and take in everything I said the way I said it. First, I did not say that people make the choice to be gay. I said that 2 of my gay friends told me that THEY made that choice. If you don't like gay people saying this, don't blame the messenger. You called me ignorant, but in your reply you said both that it is and is not a choice. I think you should make up your mind. Second, if it's none of my business; then it's none of yours as well. We have differing opinions, but I really don't understand your anger or insanity...I'm not sure which. N where in my comment did I hate on anyone. However, I do have Christian principles that guide my thinking. Obviously, you do not. I respect your right to not believe the way I do. I wish you had the tolerance to do the same.
Dana, you're saying the same thing twice. The desire to be gay in your friends was not a choice. If they controlled their desire they would be the first humans in history with that ability. They may not act on it, or they may choose to. My sister is gay, I've had several bi-se.x.ual girlfriends and have many gay friends on both a personal level and professional level and I have a degree in psychology. If your friends believe they control where their desire to be gay comes from, then they are just as much full of sh.1t as you. Like Lewis Black said, this is science we're talking about. It's not pretend time with the kiddies.
If you choose to enlighten a forum with your pearls of wisdom, then you make it other people's business. No one accused you of hat.ing anyone, but if I had to point the finger, I'd say you hate yourself more than anyone else. I suspect. it's based on your fear that the world doesn't actually conform to the fantasy you have going on in your head. Rather than look at the science, you will search up and down until you find something that allows you to hold on your belief, no matter how outdated or how much evidence speaks to the contrary.
Am I a.ngry? Yeah, but not at you. I do despise the bronze age delusion that is clouding your brain though. Should you ever find your way clear of it, you may find I'm actually trying to help free you from your bon.dage of ignorance and so actually... I'm may be one of the best friends you have.
First, I am not full of &*&, and I think that is getting down to attacking at a personal level. Second, I can't control what my friends think. That's up to them. You believe this is science; fine believe it. I do not hate myself, but I am constantly working to make myself better. You keep calling my beliefs fantasy and ignorance, but they're not. They're based on faith. Rarely do faith and science go together. I hope one day you can see past your science and accept another person's interpretation in a discussion. Believe me when I say in many ways I think you are just as wrong in some of your ideas as you think I am. I don't know where they come from; it's not for me to say. I'm not telling anyone how to live; I'm just expressing my opinion. I won't change yours and you won't change mine, but thank God we live in a country where we can have this discussion without fear of retribution or persecution or even death. Not everyone is as fortunate as we are. Take care.
Ashrakay, your opinions are offensive and very narrow minded. You can get your point across without having to justify it by insulting others. Your opinion on gays choosing to be gay having any weight because you slept with bi-women (not gay..bi) and because you have a lesbian sister and gay friends, is just as valid as Dana,s. Fortunately she didn't have to sleep with her gay friends to have an opinion, like you did. As someone who came out of the gay life, I can tell you that I did not choose the attractions, but I choose to act on them. So you're both right, except Dana was more kinder.
You M'aam, are a lyer. I would challenge anyone to their face to prove that they have gay friends (truly gay friends) that chose to be gay. I'll leave it up to other gay folks for the "truly" party. What a bunch of crap.
The last thing I am is a liar, and I really don't have time to sit on my computer and write emails that are lies. I can't help that you don't believe it, but it is true. You need to understand that people are different – even gay people.
I think DanaL doesn't realize how sad her statement is. It is unverifiable and only used to try to give her some credibility. It is saying the same as "I am not racist- I have black friends and they told me..." It is purely done to try to give her opinion some weight.
I feel sorry for you that you are so cynical. Believe it or not, I really don't care what you think. I didn't ask them about this in either case when it came up, so it's not like I was soliciting opinions from anyone. I will say thought that if it was safer to meet up with strangers, I would take you to my friends and let you meet them. It's not safe, and I don't think you would believe them either. You don't need to do anything, but I suggest you opinion your mind just a teeny bit. Take care.
"I have two gay friends"
Well la-di-da... aren't you the little radical.
Personally, I don't believe it is a choice, but even if it is who are you to force your religious beliefs onto anyone? Who are YOU to legislate those beliefs? You're no one and your faith only means something to you.
I started to give you a smart alec response, but instead I'll just say this. Who are you to impose your beliefs on me? Goes both ways! Take care.
When I was in grammar school I felt different. I liked the girls but would look at the boys. I did not choose to be gay Thorne. And it's nice to know that you have gay friends.
Kirk Cameron certainly has the right to speak his mind and in the above clip Piers Morgan does quote him incorrectly. He didn't say he hates gay people. That's how christians keep people listening to them. They claim that their bigotry is out of love and concern. Piers defended him after this all blew up the next day. How can you possibly say that Madonna is uninteresting and will never appear on your show and book Kirk Cameron? Is he interesting? People like Kirk Cameron and Rick Santorum and Michelle Bachman and Rush Limbaugh and the pope are WHY I no longer believe. They can explain that to god if it turns out there is one! I am gay and I did not choose it. I am not immoral or "unnatural". Keep your Beliefs out of my Reality or at least give me some of Rushs' prescription so I can alter my perception.
YOU need to go back and look at your interview with Kirk. He NEVER said he hated anyone. He NEVER said that. Why do you have to put words in his mouth???? Why do you have to have the interview and then sit on TV with a smirk of superiority on your face and LIE????? My heart goes out to you. You have serious problems. I am NOT judging you, neither do I hate you.YOUR own actions show the HATE that is within you. I would love for you to meet the Christ that we have and see how it can make you feel sooo much better. He can take the HATE out of your heart. You don't have to put on any longer. YOU can be real person you were meant to be My prayers are with you.
We all have fallen short of the glory of God, but we are made in his image. The bible says we are to share his thoughts, show his love, and walk the life he has walked. The hardest thing to ever do is to follow in his footsteps. But if we want God's love, we need to show others his. When we can't stand any more.... he is there to help you stand some more. He was beaten, whipped, spit on, called a liar, mocked, and shunned. Yet, even while he was nailed to a cross to die he prayed for them... "Forgive them father. For they know not what they do." He prayed for those that disrespected him. He showed God's love for them.
Because you don't agree with someone does not mean you hate them or their ideas. It simply means that you believe differently. So I will end with this quote FROM THE BIBLE:
How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Does that offend you?
Aaron and all you "Christians", I just have one question for you: If being gay is unnatural, then why did God make gay people? Yes, he did, just like he, according to your beliefs, made the world, and men and women and animals, and trees, etc. So how come all these things are natural but humans who happen to be born gay are not?
14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses,
“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”[f]
16 It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”[g] 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.
19 One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who resists his will?” 20 But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”[h] 21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?
22 What if God, choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath—prepared for destruction? 23 What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory— 24 even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?
I agree Cameron never said he hated anyone. But how about some of those really nice bible quotes from Deuteronomy or Leviticus? Very peaceful and loving, right? Your god is angry, jealous, genocidal, promotes slavery and thinks of women as equals of livestock. To deny that is to deny the "word of God".
No – sin is those things. What we see in the OT is what God thinks about sin – He hates it and because He is perfectly just – He must punish it. What we find in the NT (and actually throughout the OT as well) is what God thinks about His children that sin. He loves them so much that He himself is willing to take the punishment for their sins and He has made a way for them to be forgiven and to be freed. Jesus said, "“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." The scripture also says, "And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you."
I cant believe that Piers Morgan actually put words into Kirk Camerons mouth because Kirk never said "he hated these people". And a respect for another persons opinion and beliefs is a right given to us here in the states. No one ctahes how words are starting to be added to his phrases, its like the phone call effect, each person adds their spin to what was said. What a lack of professionalism!
It is obvious that freedom of speech is not free in this country after all, especially when it comes to those who hold a biblical point of view. Mr. Cameron simply expressed his opinion and belief, there was no "hate" in what he said. Mr. Morgan new very well what Kirk's reponse would be concerning that topic. This was nothing else but trying to draw ratings for his show and demonize Mr. Cameron and create a stir!. Don't kill the messenger.
But god tells me I should kill my daughter if she follows a different religion, or that a man should kill his bride if she finds he is not a virgin on his wedding night. Not my words, the Christian's gods words.
I challenge you to tell us where these ideas are a part of Christian God's teachings. They are not to be found. Don't project religious ideas, for any religion, when you have no idea what the facts are. This type of thing simply reveals one's ignormace of one's facts.
lmao read the bible dude, it's in there
We still have freedom of speech, we just have to give it with the understanding that all opinions are not treated equal. We are bigots or racists or similar if our view is not a more "worldly" view. You can have any thoughts you like, just don't have them out loud where it offends our delicate senses. Whatever!
How can someone not understand that calling a person "unnatural" is somehow a display of love or compassion? It's a complete insult. If someone walked up to you and called you unnatural for some arbitrary reason, you would be offended. How is it that the same doesn't hold true when gays are being insulted?
When Piers was on the Trump program, I really respected him, and the way he handled himself. After seeing this video of him, I have lost ALL respect for him because of the way he has presented himself, not even endeavouring to be accurate or professional. As far as I am concerned, he can go back home. He somehow feels that his homeland values are the same as the USA, and doesn't even know the difference. He should stick with subjects with which he is informed. His guest was repulsive. Neither were even close to professiona.Oh, by the way, I believe it was Piers who brought up the subject to Kirk. Why was this subject mentioned in the first place. Perhaps Piers wanted to have this "follow-up program" so he could have so much fun. Oh, I know, its ratings. This slilliness does not result in good ratings. Grow up!
i think we should give the same respect and rights to pedophiles as well. i mean, they can't help who they're attracted to right? they're just born that way right?
No James, this is not a free pass to play with those boys on the playground..
We're not talking about the Catholic church, here, James. We're talking of two consenting adults. But if you're arguing for your right to engage in that type of activity,,,
Because comparing consenting adults to criminals is always a GREAT way to win an argument.
That is a hilarious comparison...
James, that is absurd. The issue of the relationship between two consenting adults has nothing to do with a pedophile's attraction to a vulnerable individual that is victimized.
We all will be held accountable not to human standard, but to God's standard. Understanding the Bible is true will help alleviate confusion on what behavior God expects from his created beings. The Bible is true whether one believes it or not. I interpret the comments from the host Mr Morgan, and guests Mr Black and Mr Cameron in light of how they understand the Bible.
Just a few thoughts:
1. If you could prove your religion was “the” one true religion there would not be several major religions in the world. There would only be one. If you could really prove it. It’s not like people have been debating this for the past 2-3 weeks, it’s been debated for centuries. No real proof exists. That’s why religion is called a “belief” not a “fact”. It’s something we choose to believe but can’t really prove.
2. I’m straight. I never have a thought about being with another man. The though never occurs to me. If I never have a thought about it I never make a choice. So, I have no choice.
3. I don’t really care what deity you worship. I do care when it starts confounding science. Things like a 6000 year old Earth, Noah’s ark, dinosaurs on the Ark, people living at the same time as dinosaurs, a floor that covered all of the earth, etc. being taught as real science will make America a third world nation when it comes to the basic sciences. That’s got to stop.
Romans 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
Science is the god of many people – many have bowed down to it.
Jesus was gay. That's what those 12 dudes who were always following him around were for. His groupies. Jesus loves the wood!
It's simple: If you think it's unnatural, then you str8. If you think it's natural, then you gay. Thanks fo playin!
Does anyone else get sick of Christians playing the persecution card? Particularly at the same time they are persecuting? WHERE does this myopic arrogance come from?
It comes from fear.
Improve your credit score, rellay? This is something not encouraged by Dave Ramsey because the FICO score is not something you should worship. it does not mean you are winning financially. A good credit score simply means you love to borrow money that isn't yours! The borrower is slave to the lender. Pay off your debt, save for purchases, retire with dignity, Dave Ramsey will show you how!!!!!
I am a twenty four year old gay man. I have to say, no, I did not agree with what Kirk Cameron had to say, but who cares, really? History tells us you can only oppress people for so long before they come out fighting like wildcats. He has a right to his opinion just as we all do. You want to make a difference and make sure the oppression does not continue, do not be privy to this kind of thinking. This is America. Land of the free. Let's act like it. You have your beliefs and I have mine. Tolerence. Coexist. It is great that people are so passionate about how they feel. Speak up because you can. The justice will come.
Great comment post. I have one question pertaining to this interview with Lewis Black. Let me first say that I'm a straight African American 45 yr old male. Yes one of those church goers lol but seriously I want to know more about the LGBT and it's fight for it's community's civil rights. My question is there a definitive scientific evidence to show being gay is not a choice but biological? I asked this question not as a question meant to be contentious in nature at all but it is something I really want to know because if this is the argument I think this proof has to be pointed in a solid exemplary manner instead of just being said. Personally even without the scientific proof for me if the choice of an individaul is to live his or her life as they please then in no way should they be denied their civil rights. If anyone can point me in a direction where I can read some valuable definitive information on the scientific evidence please do because I would love to know more about the scientific proof. If the proof doesn't exist then to continually use it as a basis for fighting for your civil rights is a null point. Once again not to be contentious but I hope this evidence exists because if so indeed it does make for a stronger case in support of the LGBT community. That is if the movement uses the scientific evidence a point to stand on. Heck even if the proof doesn't exist then lets just say it's a choice then you have every right to make that choice since it doesn't hurt anyone.
I'm not sure that it is yet definitive, but there ARE studies that at least Suggest that it is genetic.
Its a coversation between a reporter and a standup to get laughs and ratings turn to fox if you dont like it or go out and vote.
A comedian talking about science like he's an expert, now that's funny! The one class he avoided like the plague!
I thought this was the United States of America. Do we not have the right to express our opinions whether or not any one else agrees with them?
Ridiculous question Brenda.
Of course you or anyone else can express their opinions, not matter how disgusting they are. HOWEVER... you also have to be willing to accept that people can and will respond to your opinions as vehemently as you expressed them. You don't get to say something hurtful and then play the martyr card. "Help! Help! I'm being repressed."
To which I say... Mr. Cameron... get off the cross me need the wood.
Say what you want, but most people are disgusted about thinking of one man sticking his penis into the butt of another man. You can lie all you want. But anotomically, it is un-natural and quite frankly, sickening. Hollywood can portray them as a loving couple all they want. The bottom line is, I will never accept it. What other creature on this earth does this but man.
You don't have to accept it if don't want to, just don't try denying me the same rights privilages as you.
There, that was simple.
I’m a gay man and have total respect for Kirk's opinion. He said his opinion as to what he believes and did so as respectfully as one could expect – IMO.
Now – I don’t believe a word of what he said and I think him and those like him will be going to hell (if there is a hell).
See how simple this was; He has is opinion and I have mine. This will not make the world end and he and I can go on with our lives.
Is there scientific proof that someone is left or right handed? Is being left or right handed a choice? Try becoming left handed when you are right handed or the other way around. Seem like a stupid comparison? Yea, but so are most of the above comments. I am not religous but many people I know are. They are intelligent and give back to their community in many different ways. But they do not believe we should return to the 15th century with backward religous rhetoric. Faith has its place in this world but religion has no place in any government. When they are mixed they are both deluted and ineffective. Hence the government we have today. The american people get the government they deserve.
Every single person is "religious". The question isn't – do you worship? The question is – what do you worship? Politics, celebrities, science, stuff, the devil are all things that people worship in our culture. What is it that you are willing to die for? Nothing? Perhaps you worship yourself. We were created to worship the One who created us & what you worship will bring life or it will bring death – not just in this life, but for all of eternity.
Not everyone worships, Laura. Some people think.
It is all dependent on which type you're flinig. Any bankruptcy is hard on your credit, but your credit is probably not the best if you're flinig BK. Don't wait a year or 2 to start rebuilding. Start immediately after your discharge. One type of BK wipes out the debt that is allowed immediately. The other ties you up for at least 5 years. With the latter you need to submit a detailed accounting of all of your monthly expenses and all debt. The court will have to approve it and then you will pay your creditors through the court. It will be a set amount after which the balance will be charged off at the end of the term. Chapter 7 (complete discharge) is probably the easiest to rebound from since you are able to start rebuilding your credit immediately.
I love Lewis Black, but he can hardly put a complete together in this video... And then there's Pierce, an articulate Brit, providing the starkest contrast imaginable. Take a deep breath Lewis!
This is the problem with the left. Do you disagree with Cameron...fine. Are their points to be made on the other side...sure. But, what does the left chose to do...every time? They bash, insult, condescend and generally try to make a pariah out of anyone with a different view. It is not hard to see why all of the Fascist movements of the 1930s came out of the left.
It is amazing how we look to comics, actors and athletes for clarification on topics that are outside of their range of true understanding and we latch on to those opinions like they are the truth.. LOL... Why does the media feel like they have to go to these people for their opinions. People take what they say with a grain of salt.
I also find it odd how they say things such as "I have complete respect for his beliefs" and yet call him stupid, that he hates science, was beat up in science class and so on. That's a weird sort of respect to have to be saying that. Actually I don't think I understand what "respect" means in that context.
LOL. It's the same kind of consistent notion that many Christians have of love ... Some Christians will point fingers and use word like destroy, unnatural, and evil but turn around and say they "love" the person. This strains credibility.
If calling out a warning to someone who is about to be run over by a bus in this physical world would be seen as loving – why does calling out a warning that could protect someone for all of eternity come under so much fire? Why? Because not everybody sees that life extends beyond the death of our bodies – not everyone sees that there truly is a God. That is why Christians must be willing to suffer. We need to be willing to "take a beating" so to speak for our brothers and sisters that don't yet understand – this is what our savior did FOR us and this is what our savior is doing THRU us by the power of God's Spirit that is IN us. However I should clarify – because there are many believers who are taking a beating because of their rude & disrespectful comments.
1 Peter 4:14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And,
“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”
19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good."
It is very telling to watch Piers Morgan. He just kind of goes with the social tide. Whatever is the easiest route to take is what he takes. I guess his barometer for life, his ethics, and his morality will be determined by the latest fad all the while thinking that since he truly accepts people like they are then he's in the right. If he truly accepted and respected Christians view then why would you take an interview that you disagree with and then go find some other people to interview that agree with you and then misquote not only the actual words but the intent behind the words of the first interview? What is this? Journalistic gossip?
IIt is just sensationalism on Piers' part. Like he said to Lewis Black. He received a reaction he didn't expect. What better way to keep attention on yourself and your show than to further twist things?
I know. I get it. It's just in a purist sense journalism and the media was supposed to be the "fourth branch of government" so to speak. It was supposed to be a check that was more initiated by the people or the populace than by a designated branch of government. They are supposed to keep truth in check not just make up whatever they want and sell it to whoever has the most money or whatever issue is the most popular. The media needs to get some guts in going after real journalism and stories and being able to differentiate between riding the social wave and being a legitimate balance for society through uncovering and revealing truth or issues without expressing such blatant bias. Then they can hide behind the 1st Amendment all they want. Until then they don't deserve the right to do whatever they want and then hide behind the letter of the law but not the intent of the law. *Sorry for the rant*
None of us should really care what these 2 men think.
Piers' ratings are so bad he needs to start some sort of controversy.
He does not listen or allow his guests to answer the questions. Basically he makes up his own mind about his guests and then tries to coerce them into saying things they did not say for a sound-bite.
Only a matter of time before Piers' slot will be filled.
He did not say he hates them. Kindly take your words back and publicly retract the statement and apologize for misquoting him
Piers is not being fair to Kirk. Whey does he have to ask every Christian guest about the views on gay marriage and abortion – you know what their answer will be. Why do these have to be the Golden questions for Christian to answer – when we already know what their answer will be.
Gay marriage is un-natural. Just picture 2 men in the act and you will understand what I am talking about. When I was young I felt kind of attracted to other boys, but that does not make me gay. I had to quickly break away from those thoughts and feelings
Abortion is murder – whether the pregnancy was planned or not. Why does a baby in the womb have NO protection just because it is still growing up and just needs a few months to come into this world to continue growing?
I find it interesting that folks like Piers Morgan and Lewis Black pick on good people like Kirk Cameron because he has the guts to stand and say what he believes. All Lewis did was put him down because somewhere in the deep of his soul he was felt conviction by what Kirk was saying and instead of dealing with it, he chose to put Cameron down and run him in the ground. If you don't get--please don't make conments about it. Piers and Lewis should take a good hard look at the way they live their lives and take note that negative comments may lead someone in the wrong direction.I am proud of Cameron,he spoke truth even though he knew it would not be received by everyone. That was brave and the right thing to do, we need more men like him. maybe our world would not be in such a mess if we had more men and women standing up for right instead of just going along with what you think won't ruffle any feathers!
Your abuse of Kirk saddens me...instead of asking "liberal" actors and correspondents what they think...why not ask Franklin Graham, Billy Graham, Rick Warren, Mark Driscoll, for their take...I don't think you can really stand to hear their view point.
shame on you for twisting his comment ~ when did he say he hated people who were gay?
Kirk and the rest of the Christian Right do not really represent Christianity. They represent dogma over true spirtulality. Not all Christian hate Gays. Gays are born Gay and they are God's gift to mankind. Kirk is obviously very insecure. I sure hope his children don't turn out Gay because he would torment them like Bobby Griffith's mother.
So evidently if a person has an opinion that is different from yours it must be hate. Do you hate me? Well you must because your opinion is different from mine, and according to your own definition of hate you must hate anyone that has an different opinion than you. That is the way it is with you liberals. you want to put down someone because they are different than you but your really the hypocrite because you really hate Christians don't you because we stand for living according to the Bible. But your probably the same kind that thinks all of the Koran is good although it says to kill the infidels, if you don't know it anyone that is not Muslim is an infidel. We as Christians love people we may not love what that do. We can share the love of God with anyone because God loves the world so much He paid the price to redeem you and I. Jesus changed my life I was not raised in church did not know anything about God whatsoever. I kept thinking there has to be more to this life than this. When I gave my life to Christ I found not what, not a crutch, not a fad, not religion but someone that is real Jesus loves you and although you hate me, I love you and am praying for you to come to Jesus.
Does your blog have a contact page? I'm hanivg problems locating it but, I'd like to send you an email. I've got some ideas for your blog you might be interested in hearing. Either way, great blog and I look forward to seeing it grow over time.
I wish Cameron would stop throwing stones and just quietly wait to be raptured.
Why do people refer to the Bible in these or any other discussions about 21st century life? Might just as well refer to ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
Where are people getting that Cameron hate gays? He is only speaking the truth and doing it in Love. This is God's Love -the truth. God Hates Sin period. By Him telling them of what God hates, sounds like Love to Me!!!
I'm a Christian... and MY Bible does say that "no man shall lie with another man..." right before it says not to eat shrimp.
I understand, as a Christian, that the Bible is a tool, for ME to use, to better myself... NOT a weapon to beat others up with.
As a straight man, I admit I have "coveted" another man's wife at some point... in doing so, I broke one of the Ten Commandments (Thou shalt not be Gay is NOT the 11th Commandment.) The book of Liviticus IS important, to be sure... but, let's keep things in perspective. I, for one,am too busy worrying about my OWN issues than pointing out the problems of others. I suggest other Christians learn to follow suit.
Thank you Ehren. I believe that we are all God's creatures. Live and let live. You are a Christian.
Why exactly does this clown even rate as newsworthy? Anyone with a sincere interest in these issues, religious or not, should be able to see how RIDICULOUS this guy & his partner are. I just wish more people either had the amount of education needed to realise he's full of it(or they'd take the 5 minutes required to educate themselves). All that talk about sin, & the whole time he's misleading and manipulating people himself; whether you're purposely spouting BS because it is in your interest, or making claims you know you're not qualified to make, you're lying.
"And what does telling a lie make you?" That's right, guys: LIARS!
Whatever their TRUE motivations, these guys are NOT HELPING ANYONE!
