In Monday evening's edition of "Only in America," guest host Jane Lynch introduced the "Piers Morgan Tonight" viewers to Marilyn Hagerty. Her column on the new Olive Garden restaurant in Grand Forks, North Dakota, has gone viral, making her an instant star.
Lynch asked Hagerty how it feels to be the most famous person in Grand Forks, North Dakota. "It's - obviously it's overwhelming, it's wild, crazy," Hagerty said. "It's all of that."
Hagerty gave a straight forward review of the Olive Garden. In part she wrote, "at length, I asked my server what she would recommend. She suggested Chicken Alfredo and I went with that. And instead of the raspberry lemonade she suggested, I drank water." Lynch's burning question- "Why not the lemonade?"
"Somehow the thought of lemonade just didn't appeal to me. But I think maybe on a hot summer day I might be interested."
Hagerty says she doesn't consider herself a merely a food critic for the "Grand Forks Herald," but rather, a reporter:
"You're just being a guide," Lynch says. "And that's really useful." Lynch told Hagerty to let her know if there is anything else on the menu that she should try other than the Chicken Alfredo. Hagerty said she'll think about it.
In the words of Lynch: "Only here in America could an 85-year-old food critic become an Internet sensation."
