• North Korea, planning new nuclear test, South Korean intelligence report says: "North Korea is planning a new nuclear test in the area where it staged previous atomic blasts, according to a report from South Korean intelligence officials obtained by CNN. The intelligence report has come to light as North Korea gets ready to carry out a controversial rocket launch this week, a move that would further strain ties between the reclusive, nuclear-armed state and other countries in the region."

• Violence in Syria spills across border: "Mounting deaths, a fresh demand to rebels by the Syrian regime and a scathing report of summary executions carried out by government forces suggest the crisis is far from over. And for the first time in the Syrian uprising, bloodshed reportedly moved across the Syrian border to Turkey, where three people at a refugee camp were injured in gunfire, a Syrian official said."

• All sides await decision on charges in Trayvon Martin shooting: "As controversy over the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin swirls, all sides are anxiously awaiting a possible decision this week by a special prosecutor on whether to bring charges against the neighborhood watch volunteer who killed the teen. The case could be taken up as early as Tuesday by a grand jury expected to convene in Seminole County, Florida."

• Stocks: An ugly start on jobs hangover: "U.S. stocks sold off at the open Monday, as investors deal with the fallout from last week's disappointing jobs report. In addition, a higher-than-expected reading on inflation in China added to the worries."

• Veteran newsman Mike Wallace dead at 93: "Mike Wallace, who spent four decades as a hard-hitting, provocative news correspondent on '60 Minutes,' has died, CBS reported Sunday. He was 93. Wallace died Saturday night 'peacefully surrounded by family members at Waveny Care Center in New Caanan, Connecticut, where he spent the past few years,' CBS said in a statement."
