On Thursday, "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomed legendary land-owner and media tycoon Ted Turner for an exclusive and revealing sit down interview.
Having launched the first-ever 24-hour cable news channel in 1980, the founder of CNN shared the disappointment upon losing his job following the Time Warner merger:
"It really hurt, because we were making our budget and I was loyal to the management of the company," Turner revealed to Piers Morgan. "I didn’t do anything - didn’t do anything wrong and I think if it had been put to the employees, they would have voted to keep me. But they didn’t do that because I’d done a pretty good job."
Married and divorced three times, most recently with Jane Fonda, the 73-year-old presently has four girlfriends.
"Hopefully they won’t all leave me at once," he said.
"Most men watching this will be going, come on, Ted. How do you get away with that?" asked the host.
"With great difficulty," the guest admitted. "It’s complicated. It’s much easier to have one wife, but when you have one wife and she leaves you..."
Watch the clips, and listen to the interviews, as the philanthropist and mogul detailed the complexity of balancing his personal and professional calendars, and further explained his exit from CNN.

Ted Turner is so naive, so idealistic. If only we could get Ahmadinijad to sit down at the table with Netanyahu, then all their problems with muslims and jews could be solved easily, and he actually believes all you have to do is be nice with someone, and they will forget their wacko beliefs. And the UN? They are pretty much a usless organization who just blames the jews for everything, and can't seem to ever condemn muslims for anything. And let's not forget the environment, maybe we can get the food to market with a solar powered semi truck1 Wake up and smell the coffee Ted.
I could not disagree more. I love Ted Turner.. I Loved this interview. He is a visionary. He thinks outside the box. We need more leaders like him. He is all about common sense. And he is right about the dialogue between Israel and Iran. He is right on the Nuclear weapons issue..he is right about approaching the world from a perspective of mutual respect. He is right that the UN is a useful and essential element for world diplomacy. God help us if it is left to people like Bush who are self interested, and I am not talking about the US self interest but personal self interest!
I am a parent of a service member and when Turner stated that it was good that Soldiers are comitting suicide in records numbers, I was shocked as I am with the fact that you love this billionaire.
I'm surprised that Piers didn't bring up equivalency when talking to Ted Turner about Iranian and Israeli nukes. Iran has threatened to "wipe out the cancer of Israel", "wipe them off the map", etc, not the other way around. Iran also supports terrorist groups (Hezbollah, Hamas< Assad). A small nuke, from Iran, in one of these groups hands is unthinkable. Israel has not threatened to wipe anybody "off the map".
If war becomes necessary with Iran – Israel simply wants the US to know that at a certain point in Iran's march towards a nuclear weapon, there will come a point where Israel – a country the size of New Jersey – will not be able to strike Iran. After that tipping point – if the world cannot live with a nuclear armed Iranian Islamic dictatorship, then it will be up to everyone else. If you will recall, WikiLeaks cables revealed that from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, from the United Arab Emirates to Egypt, Arab leaders were imploring the United States to confront the Iranians. Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah pleaded with Obama to "cut off the head of the [Iranian] snake." If America goes to war with Iran, this will more likely be the reason.
As a person who admires Piers Morgan, I was very very disappointed at his non-reaction to the comment made by Ted Turner- about Israel "allowed" to have nukes, while Iran is being sanctioned. Ever since its inception in 1948, Israel (as tiny as New Jersey), surrounded by countries wishing to eliminate it, has been struggling to remain on the map. Israel is not threatening to wipe Iran off the face of the earth, as we hear from Iran day and night. Before the Holocaust the world thought that Hitler was a mad man, and that his threats are pointless. I am very surprised that Mr. Morgan has not challenged Ted Turner (may be because Mr. Turner is still Mr. CNN?), for having made this ridiculous contention- about Israel "allowed" to have nukes. Again- Israel has never threatened to eliminate Iran or any other country. If Israel has nukes- it is for the deterrent effect.
I was shocked by Ted Turner's naïveté regarding Iran and Israel and nuclear weapons. Piers Morgan failed to challenge his comments, and the danger to Israel, the threats from Iran and possibility of another Holocaust. It is hard to believe that someone with his means and wealth could be so misguided on so many subjects.
Big mistake puting Ted Turner on the air, I use to like him. What a Moron......
Why didn't Piers Morgan confront Ted Turner on his comment that he thought it was good that American Soldiers are commiting suicide in record numbers? This station is a JOKE.
my thoughts as well. mr. turner should be confronted by a terrorist, and then what would his tune be? you cannot reason with some people.
How are we going to have a serious discussion when this guy has four girlfriends. He has more girlfriends then Mr Hefner.
