READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
Coming up this evening at 9 p.m., "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomes musician and singer-songwriter Billy Corgan for a remarkably candid and revealing exclusive interview.
Most widely known as the frontman and sole permanent member of the alternative rock band "The Smashing Pumpkins," Corgan shares his personal perspectives on politics, specifically the nation's current commander-in-chief, Barack Obama:
"Moral compass," says Corgan when asked what qualities he most values in a leader. "And that's where I'm disappointed in the president, is he ran on a moral compass agenda. But, what happened? I'm sure there's lots of good reasons, and I'm sure they'll roll somebody out to counter thoughts like that. But I don't see it."
As his bands ninth album, entitled "Oceania," is released this week, the Chicago native is becoming increasingly disheartened with the way his home country is viewed in other parts of the world:
"I've seen foreigners really shift on their view of America, and that's hard for me to take. I still believe in my country. I know that the working class of this country is what this country's really about. That's what I grew up in and those are my people."
Watch the clip, and listen to the interview, then tune in this evening as the 45-year-old Corgan explains how his personal upbringing has influenced his political stance.

Just a thought. The USA's ' budget deficit ' is probably greater that the entire debt of Europe.
So why can't they call a spade a spade. Typical, so we in Europe now should call our debt
a budget deficit.
If you agree Piers, then say it on your show which by the way is excellent.
I want to talk about the other man you had on on tueseday night who gave economic advice, who said the pie is something which gets bigger and smaller so that one man having a lot should not make another jealous, if the pie expands enough, there is enough for everyone and for some extra for some to have a lot without reducing the money of the less fortunate.
The pie does get bigger, you get more efficient at farming, that means more food for everyone for example, more trees and quarries more houses for everyone and more money, a countries money represents their posessions, more possessions more money and their debts. The pie can grow but that is not to say it does not matter how it's distributed, maybe for the reason that people site when they argue that big government is bad because each Jack and Harry is more creative with their money than the government is and so that they have their money in their hands helps the economy. A billionaire, like the government, has more money than they are likely to be able to be as creative with as a lot of people with their money would be and they dont only have that money because they worked for it, they have it because they could have distrubuted earnings between their workers better than they did but they did not, they could have trickled down a good deal more t hey have it because they were mean bosses.
It is better to give your money to governments than billionaires, after all government have a lot of departments, they have organised themselves to be creative in many different feilds and also they are a body that tries to make way for the success of the country as a whole, making sure countries have the infra structure they need for the swift transport of goods, swift transport that so optimises business and for the police who make sure corruption does not make starting a business and success in it very hard and for educating a population who will be usefull to those with businesses.
Your guest likes provocking themes by saying extreme things on the internet does he? I know that sort, those who start conversations in sly ways are usually also good at cutting off the discussion where they want to cut it off, so favouring their own agenda. They are often good at making sure that in the dust they have kicked up creates no proper going through of the subject though they pretend to instigation a proper discussion with provocative remarks.
This theme is very complex, those who pretend that sharing things out would get us anywhere, as the charitable often do, are wrong, economies grow, the pie expands and contracts, and if you want a place to be sucessfull you need to grow the economies of those places so that each place has a sturdy local economy or the money given to them by charities just evaporates. The charitables idea that all we need to do is to share out what there is makes them unsuitable as helpers in poor places as it rather reduces their efforts to grow economies, they dont really believe in ecconomies only in sharing. Not only the money from the charitable that enters into undeveloped places evaporates, it is also money from things like oil feilds they may find on their land that evaporates if the local community are not good at economy, so sharing does not work, the money flow just goes back to switzerland if the economy of the place you are feeding with money is weak.
On the otherhand, since time was time, allowing the rich to get very rich at the expense of the poor, of people they are not paying properly for example does not work either. A typical thing that happens when there is a a too great imbalance of wealth is that the rich buy up all the land that if spread between many poorer people could sustain them, not only does things being divided into very big peices mean less poorer families find a way to sustain themsselves, it is also bad because very big estates become unproductive the rich can even turn land in to simply their hunting ground something the english did with Scotland, small organically run vegteble gardens are more productive than even the most scientifically run big farms, in the long run you just get more of everything when you have more people starting small businesses and there will be more goods for more members of the communities with more people starting small businesses, so peoples life style will be better.
There is some place inbetween everyone giving away all but what fulfills their most basic needs in order to share out what they have and in so doing making a fair world that does not work at all, as no one had the wherewithall to organise anything and the situation that has been most usual in the world till recently of their being a few very rich people and milling masses of very poor, the semisocialsit countries of the west acheived that something inbetween for a while but the ideas of the right have been laying hold of everyones minds after years of propogating them, Mrs thatcher was putting them in place a good thirty years ago and she knew of them because she had learnt about them, so they were designed before hand as a push back to soialism, so the right has had a long time to push them and bring them to this point and in whihc it now looks as if we are going straight back towards being third world countries. If i was Obama my slogan would be, lets keep from recreating the third world on our shores, lets keep from being those old fashioned states whose main charicteristic was having a few stinking rich people and masses of poor ones lets vote against theses ideas that threaten to drag as back in to the past. rose macaskie madrid.
I wonder if anyone read more than a couple lines of your wall-of-drivel?
Obama has good intentions, however he is dealing with a corrupt congress who are a bunch of white collar criminals.
One Presidentail candidate has said he is against raising the minimun wage in the United States of America.
His moral compass is spinning with no direction in site.
Mr. Corgan, you asked, What happened?" If you don't see it, why?
It's quite clear to me.
Mr. Obama, point blank said, it could take 10 years before we start seeing results.
He inhereited the biggest mess I have ever seen a President take on in my lifetime.
The Republicans act like nothing ever happened.
During this administration, the Republican Radicals created the Tea Party and presented, too early, a vicious group of pre presidential hopefuls for the Republican candicacy.
As a citizen of the United States of America, I found that shameful.
Good comment Rose.
CNN viewers are utterly clueless. So, Obama inherited the mess huh? DId you forget the fact that Democrats (Obama as a member of the Senate) fought tooth and nail to keep the subprime mortgages going? Barney Frank ring a bell? Is it echoing around in your skull? Have you ever heard of Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac? They used the government to make a fortune causing the crisis. You liars are either liars or ignorant of the facts. That includes you Pierce Morgan. It was the Democrats who created the recession starting first with Jimmy Carter's Community Reinvestment Act. Next, Bill Clinton escalated it, and repealed the Glass Steigal Act. Whenever anybody protested the irresponsible subprime lending they were attacked with accusations of racism. They forced banks to lend to subprime candidates by slandering them with accusations of racism, and the government enforced racial quotas. The next great element was Barack Obama's ACORN. They to got people to finance mortgages on houses they couldn't afford. You guys are all clearly either ignorant or lying. It is pitiful. Obama was a main culprit whom created the "mess" you say he inherited. Liar liar liar liar. You make me sick.
Son – you forgot about George W's big speech where he talks about getting X number more Americans into affordable housing by lowering lending standards. You forgot that the repeal of Glass-Stiegal was a Republican initiative, pushed for nearly a decade by Gramm, Leach and Bliley and getting 100% of Republican votes in the House and Senate. You forgot about 2 wars off the books and Medicare Part D; combined with a lower tax rate – what the heck did you think that would do to our debt??? You even forgot about voodoo economics and what our debt looked like before Reagan invented the credit card. Son – it is YOU who are either uneducated or a liar, liar, liar.
This guy seems to be listening to Fox news, I don't know who he is or care, just wondering why they give him a mike so he can pretend to care or understand the middle class. Pierce is always trying to get people to put down America as he gets a show on CNN and enjoys our country. Hate him and his accent.
