Clips From Last Night: Attorneys Mark O'Mara and Benjamin Crump on the new Trayvon Martin tapes

Mark O'Mara, the defense attorney for George Zimmerman, returned to the program on Thursday to address newly released tapes in the Trayvon Martin shooting case.

When questioned about the 'inconsistencies' between Zimmerman's statements on the new tapes and prior documented accounts including the original 911 call from Zimmerman on the night of the shooting, O'Mara replied, "This is now another part, a chapter of the evidence. It's certainly not all of it. This is not even all what the state has. And we've certainly not seen what the defense intends to present."

"I'm just hoping," continued O'Mara, "as I hoped all along that people will take an open view, wait until all the evidence is in before they make a decision."

Benjamin Crump, the attorney for Trayvon Martin's family, also returned to the program to discuss his reaction to the new tapes, saying, "His [Zimmerman's] credibility is the issue here."

"Why does he not tell the truth on the statement why he got out of that car? If we can't believe what he said from day one, how can we believe anything else after he's talked to people and talked to lawyers and talked to family members?"

I should be surpised, but am not, that Piers did not know about the witness Zimmerman described who observed part of the fight. Piers wants to know if this person has been identified. Piers, this witness was interviewd by local TV the day after the shooting. The witness stated that a guy was on top of and beating another man, and the man on the bottom wearing a red top (Zimmerman) was crying out for help. The witness then went to call 911 and heard, but did not see, the shot. Most of the media ignored this witness for weeks. Later, this witness was covered widely in the news when the Sanford police released some of its evidence. And yet, Piers was oblivious. Has he been paying any attention to the facts of this case, or is his job simply to hype it?

Looks like you need to brush up on the facts yourself. This witness then wound up telling police he wasn't sure that Trayvon was hitting Zimmerman, only that they were wrestling. And that he wasn't sure which one was screaming for help.

Okay, Jesse, but he still vividly remembers that the man on the bottom had the Red Top (Zimmerman), RIGHT ??? You know, after seeing all the emotional termoit going on in all of this... I wouldn't want to remember everything so vividly either... At least not until I could be protected by the Court, etc. Maybe, he will remember better then, when he feels safer.

Not surprising Mr. Crump is trying to emphasize Zimmerman's lack of credibility. There is nothing else to say about the fact that Mr. Zimmerman is innocent and the evidence shows it. Of course, it was his wife that misled the court, not Zimmerman, but what truth has not been twisted in this case thus far.

Like I tell everybody, I love the people who defend this criminal over the internet and say that this guy is innocent, knowing for sure if that happned to one of their: Son's or loved ones, they would be singing a different tune. My question is where were you when people where marching? And rallying? Thats right hiding, scared, another question if this dude is innocent, (which he is not,) he disobeyed the law and took in his own hands. I pray and hope these same people are singing that same tune, when the riots start. I wanna hear all the tough talk then. him harming an unarmed teen, and yaw saying he is innocent. Let a black man kill your unarmed nephew, how would you feel about that? I thought so! Like I said I want to say what it really is, when the riots start if this chump is let free.

Jay, that part you put in about (Let a black man kill your unarmed nephew, how would you feel about that?) Jay, race has nothing to do with it. You could say (Let a Pacific Islander, a Hispanic, a White Guy, an Islam guy from Iraq... See, it doesn't matter)... You wouldn't feel good no matter what kind of guy killed your nephew. With everything you know about the case, don't you think GZ is innocent? Are you saying GZ should go to jail for 30 years because Trayvon was somebody's son or because he was black? Where was I when the people were marching? I didn't even know about it yet. Yeah, that got people scared alright. That's why they arrested him in the 1st place... They were scared... See, that's the wrong reasons. Are you saying we better put GZ away or else.... Or else you are going to riot? Everybody has a Mom & Dad, Jay. Even GZ has 'em. Everybody has to be a color of skin. That should have nothing to do with it. Listen to Martin Luther King and practice his theology. We are supposed to be over this. We are supposed to be living the Dream by now. Get a hold of yourselves. Look at the evidence objectively with an open mind and abstract reasoning. What, do you want to reduce it to a duel or a war or something? Sit back & relax, will ya?

Why does Crump not talk about why 5 minutes after being reported as "running away" was Trayvon only 30 yards away?

It only took Zimmerman and detectives :45 seconds to casually stroll from the truck to the corner of the sidewalk where the shooting took place.

Why was Trayvon not home 100 yards away 5 minutes after running away? The video clearly shows that there was nowhere between where he could have stopped to hangout that was no private property.

Why did Trayvon double back to confront George Zimmerman?

Who says Trayvon ran home? Did Trayvon testify to that? You are basing your argument on a false assumption. It is perfectly logical that Trayvon attempted to hide after running. Or that he thought he was in the clear and resumed casually talking, only to be re-confronted by Zimmerman. Feel free to provide any evidence that disputes this.

Just asking aquestion: Why didn't Trayvon run from Zimmerman? A 17 year old could have outrun a 28nyear old!!!

Jesse, Mr. Crump paints the whole picture and connects the dots in his news conf. of March 20. He and the Puppy Love girl suggest that they were on the phone together the entire time. According to their version of events... Trayvon Martin at no time stopped or attemped to hide after running at any time. They say that presumably Zimmerman was waving a gun around and caught up to a screaming Trayvon who was hollering/begging for his life, but was executed nevertheless by a racist motivated cold blooded killer. The girl says Trayvon said he was just going to walk fast. And she heard Trayvon speak 1st, "Why you follow me?" and a different voice says, "What you doin round here?" They then repeated that. Then the phone went dead. Later under more questioning she stated that she could then "Hear the grass". If you tend to believe in their side of the story... It is NOT perfectly logical that Trayvon attempted to hide after running.

Looks like their only defense is "Trayvon isn't here to tell his version of the story."

The story he told makes no sense. He claims that Trayvon pounded his head on the sidewalk repeatedly and held an hand over his mouth does not really seem possible to do both. He also said that his shirt slid up and he thought Trayvon was reaching for it so he was pounding his head and reaching for the gun at the same time. If the gun was in his waist band and Trayvon was on top how did he reach and fire with Trayvon sitting on him. The physical injuries are not consisteint with the kind of attack he descibed. His head would have been much more damaged. He said Trayvon you are going to die tonight ? Sounds becaue you have to be in fear of your life for self defense. He sais Trayvon suid you got it with his lungs filling with bllos he was dead in seconds. How did he end uo on nhsi stomach with his hands underneath him with George sitting on his back? Why do people believe him. He seems mentally unstable he has extemely poor judgement but go ahead and make him a hero.

In reply to h... Sounds like you can't believe Zimmerman that Trayvon said some things after being shot in the chest. I'm remembering a news clip, probably CNN at the beginning of the Kosavor war in Serbia or someplace there. There was a... like a jeep or SUV or rover vehicle that drove up to a newly formed U.S. check point & they riddled the vehicle w/maching gun fire blasting bullet holes all over the truck front, windows, etc. like mush. The clip showed the vehicle coast back slightly downhill for a little distance & coming to a stop. People opened the passenger door... the driver was dead... the passenger was shot numerous times throughout his chest. He was talking calmly for awhile. He didn't seem to want to keep the subject on exactly what the news man was asking, but he didn't seem to be alarmed or be thinking that he might be dieing. Pretty soon they laid him down on his back by the side of the street. He had his knees up with his feet on the ground. After a few minutes it showed him sort of not moving. All of a sudden his feet slipped down & his legs were flat on the ground with his knees down & he never moved again. He was dead.

Yes, h, it seems you don't believe Zimmerman that Trayvon held his hands over GZ's nose & mouth. To me, that helps cooborate that it was George doing the hollering for help. It seems very reasonable that Trayvon wouldn't want his victim to be doing all that loud hollering to get others involved... So he instinctively did that to try to stop the noise so as not to be noticed easily. I'm sure GZ was using his neck muscles, etc. all he could to help lessen the damaging effects of Trayvon's efforts in the slamming of his head, anybody would. Of course when he was hitting him or doing one thing he couldn't be doing everything at one time.... We all know that. Like in fights... They only have two arms. All punches, etc. don't occur simutaniusly. With all the supporting evidence, people believe him because it doesn't make sense you would call police, try to keep account for them of where the subject is (that's what he was doing)... And tell who you are and where it's at... See? You're not going to plan a racist murder of a child like that in that situation. He even told police in the interviews that he was afraid & didn't want to confront the suspect. That makes sense. His motivation there was to be able to tell the dispatcher which way Trayvon went. You have to realize when GZ was making these tapes he had no idea that months or weeks later Trayvon's texts/websites, etc. would be found & that it was his common language to say mutha f====en this & that with vulgar language exactly like GZ quotes to police that Trayvon said in his videos/interrogations, etc. How could GZ have known this in advance? He couldn't. He's dead right on with that after looking back in hindsite. That's how Trayvon talked on his texts, etc. GZ explains him to a tee, & he had no way to know as I just said before. There you have it.. It all adds up & makes it apparent or clear by evidence !!!

Rob you make points of view but the bottom line is the 911 dispatcher told GZ to stay in his car until police arrived. They didn't say follow the kid. Question: What made GZ think Martin looked like someone up to no good?

You actually believe that he held his hand over his mouth and then you used one arm to pound his head repeatedly. Seems like he would have to 3 arms to do all things Zimmerman said. Then apparently took a break from covering his mouth with his and pounding his head to feel for his gun which was now convienently visible. Zimmerman is a healthy 28 year old could not defend himself but all of a sudden is able to fire a a gun while his head his being pounded and hit the peron directly in his heart. If Trayvon was sitting on him how did he reach the gun unless he already it out. So did he shoot him because he was reaching for his gun or pounding his head. The excessive detail is the hallmark of lying. I am sure some people do speak but the contrived words he alleged Taryvon said are BS all designed to convince people that he did not start the altercation. He has a history of agtressive impulsive behavior. I do not care what Trayvon said allegdly on Twitter. He had no reason to follow him. Zimmerman is a mentally unstable person hiding behind a mask off sanity. I do not belive a word he says. Too bad they cannot charge him with felony stupidity.

  7. Mr.T

All of you are asking the wrong questions. The only question is (why did Zimmerman feel the need to get out of his car?).
Zimmerman can reenact and say what he want, but here what makes the Martins case. Zimmerman was told by the 911 dispatcher to stay in his car until police got there. As we can see from his reenactment he did stay in car. T.Martin would be alive today if Zimmerman did what he was told. Stand your ground law, this is how I see it. If I'm walking down the street and you walk up to me and I don't know you. The law applies to me, I have the right to stand my ground or walk away. The didn't apply to Zimmerman because his car was far enough away for you to figure out who start the conflict. Everything else is immaterial. Thank

Mr. T... By the end of the non-emergency call, Zimmerman & the dispatcher agreed that Zimmermen would call back to let them know where to meet and the dispatcher said, okay. The reason Zimmerman felt the need to get out of his car was to keep them informed of where the suspect was going. The dispatcher had instructed him to keep them informed He then actually wound up doing that, saying that he ran down by the back exit gate which is down there close to Trayvon's townhome. We all wish Trayvon would have openedup his own door and walked in. But instead, somehow, he wound up dead on the grass back up there about where Zimmerman was when the dispatcher asked him if he was following & told him "We don't need you to do that".

Rob, you are 100% wrong when you state that the dispatcher asked GZ to keep an eye on Trayvon and to continue following him. The dispatcher told GZ after realizing that GZ was indeed following TM, in his exact words, "We do not need you to do that." GZ's reply was, "Okay." The only thing that the dispatcher stated after that was, "If you see anything else, let us know." The dispatcher clearing did not want GZ to follow, pursue or search for TM. GZ was the Captain of Neighborhood Watch and it states and GZ was trained by them NOT TO FOLLOW, you watch and report. It also states that you are NOT allowed to carry a firearm! GZ disobeyed the police, broke every rule in the book for the neighborhood watch program HE WAS IN CHARGE OF!

GZ obviously continued to hunt for TM WITH A GUN. In the reenactment, GZ told a completely different story, or should I say MANY different stories. Therefore he has NO credibility and is a liar! I suggest if you are concerned about facts, learn about them before you post. There are too many lies, inconsistencies for me to even mention here... Take a day and compare the 911 call to the statement of GZ and then compare that with the reenactment video. I am sure as you will see, NOTHING adds up for George Zimmerman. He is guilty of killing this kid, Trayvon Martin.

George Zimmerman passed polygraph test means crap! Hence, these tests are not admissible in court. Example: Convicted Serial Killer Gary Leon Ridgway was an early suspect in the Green River killings in Oregon in the 1980s and 1990s. The amazing thing is that he passed a polygraph test in 1984 and continued on his killing spree, which didn’t stop until DNA evidence linked him to the crimes in 2001. Melvin Foster, a suspect in the murders for years, had failed a polygraph test.

Zimmerman's lies and half truths to me will be his own confession of guilt, and he will be convicted!!!!!!!!!!!!! He should admit he stalked that kid and created this altercation and accidentally shot him immediately and plead guilty to Manslaughter. It's clear he had no right to kill that innocent unarmed teenager

Joe, if you can show with evidence that everything in your last sentence there is true & correct... You will have made/proven the case for the prosecution. Saying it is one thing... That's pretty much what Mr. Crump is saying as well. And he keeps talking about the evidence. I think it's time to show us the evidence. Let's have it !!! Is there anything they have, anything at all, to refute all the statements and evidence that Zimmerman and the defense has? In Court the prosecution testified under oath that they DIDN'T HAVE ANY !!!
