Only In America: School Bus Bullies

On Thursday, Piers Morgan used his "Only in America" segment to address the shocking video of middle school students viciously tormenting their school bus monitor, Karen Klein.

The 68-year-old grandmother "sat, utterly defenseless, as kid after kid insulted and ridiculed her with vile outbursts."

"They laughed, they snickered, they taunted, they mocked. And they continued even as the poor woman cried," Morgan remarked with disgust.

Even as Morgan watched the horrible video he is hopeful and inspired. "Parents everywhere have been reacting not just with shock and horror to the video – but with money." said Morgan, noting a silver lining in Klein's horrible experience.

However, although the monetary gift was "an incredible gesture that restores faith in the human spirit," Morgan emphasized that "money alone won't change what happened, or heal the scars."

If you're a parent, Piers suggests playing the full ten-minute video for your children to watch.

"Make them understand what bullying really is, and the effect such cowardly abuse can have."

To close out the segment Morgan notes, "real Americans don't behave like this."

People need to have their kids read Forgotten Pages by Denise Landry..It's a eye opener about bully and abuse and what happen to people in the long run from it.

Maybe if parents would have their kids read stories about the effects of bullying then it would help make a difference.

I really believe that it is a very good lesson for those bullies. now that they are the one's being harrassed they complain that it is too much for the kids and their family. I think the reason these kids video taped the incident is because they think that it would be funny and probably be a good entry to America's Funniest Videos. Who's laughing now!!!

I agree with Alex. How do they like being dished out what they so eloquently did? Unfortunately, this type of behavior can be seen in a school every day. Kids, adults, teachers, administrators, and many more have to endure this on a daily basis. Some bleeding heart will say that everyone is being hard on them. SUCK IT UP!

I couldn't finish the video, because I was already on the edge of crying. This is just outrageous and I hope the bullies and future bullies will learn from this or at least get some kind of slap in the head. God, it's wrong. I am so sorry that this women had to experience that. Much thoughts to you Karen.

This woman could quit any time she waned to. Kids don't have that option unless their parents feel forced to move when repeated attacks and threats are reported to the school district and the district does nothing to stop it. We reported almost daily atacks for two years and then the district sent home a letter stating my son could not go to some of his classes and he was only allowed to use the nurse's restroom. We called this segregation but the govt doesn't see it this way when you are white. We now live in another state at triple the mortgage of our last home just for an equal education.

I've been browsing online more than three hours today, but I never found any fascinating article like yours. It is pretty price enough for me. In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made just right content as you did, the internet will likely be much more useful than ever before.
