Michael Vick says he might get a new dog: "Certainly wouldn't be a pit bull"

Tonight, Michael Vick joins Piers Morgan for a primetime exclusive interview where the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback speaks candidly about his fall from grace in 2007 when he was implicated and convicted of participating in the operation an illegal dog fighting ring.

In his new book "Michael Vick: Finally Free, An Autobiography," Vick expresses his love of dogs in spite of his fascination with dog fighting and the competition associated with it. Vick was banned from owning a dog for three years but this month the ban expires.

During the interview, Morgan asks Vick if he will get a new dog and Vick replies that he would for his children. "I can’t take that dream away from them," Vick explains. "That’s selfish on my behalf. You know, so, gotta find a way to make it right and, you know, I put everything in God’s hands to make it right."

When Morgan asks Vick what kind of dog he would adopt, Vick replies "I would let them [his children] pick it out. Certainly wouldn’t be a pit bull."

Tune in at 9pm for the complete and very candid interview as Vick talks about his new work with The Humane Society of the United States.

Mr. Morgan: It's your show and I would never tell you whom to interview; however, it's also my money and if you wish to provide an audience for this monster then it's my choice NOT to spend it enriching your sponsors.

pit bull puppies are born the same way as all other puppies, sweet, innocent, harmless and helpless, only humans can turn them (through abuse) to fighters. Michael Vicks never apologised for his involvement in dog fighting. I think his kids were born with his violent traits and should never have a dog. There is no way his family was not aware of the horrible abuse the dogs endured. The dogs that lost fights were shot, hung or drowned. This individual cannot be rehabilited, he will abuse again – anything for a dollar. When is a huge amount of money not enough and you have to abuse innocent animals to make more. Look to Cesar Milan for his beautiful pitt bulls who help him in his quest to help dogs. The Vick family makes me sick and should never own another animal, haven't they had enough to satisy their violent need? I would die for my pets, they kill them.

        Horace,

Most people have done bad things once or twice during their lives but not many people have tortured and killed innocent animals for fun?? He's a sociopath and does NOT have a conscience. Why would you defend someone like that????

Michael Vick's "second chance" is walking free and playing in the NFL. He's been granted a far more permissive do-over than the vast majority of convicted criminals in his situation would have gotten. Not having a dog seems a rather small price to pay, don't you think?

So, if these were children that he killed and fought would we allow him to have or adopted more. Everyone seems to forget these are lives that he took away. It is not like he just embezzled money or something like that. Amazing how it comes to animals and no one cares. I think he should never be allowed to own another animal. He is selfish and all about himself. What he did is murder and yet he is allowed to work and be free!!

*Anyone who knows the Bible would know exactly what God thinks of mike vick..and his lies and deceptions. in his book...he actually wrote that he : "loves Dogs:. Who does he think he is kidding? Anyone that believes in this man, and follows any of his NFL games is either ignorant, or you don't see the clear picture. The man should be dropped from any and all NFL, and he should not be able to have any animals...and I am seriously frightened for his children. Animal abusers usually go the next step up...human abuse!

So glad all these Vegans are in opposition to Micheal Vick...I mean...you guys must be Vegan right??? No Animal Products in your lives what so ever right? No leather, no dairy, not animal made glues? No gelatins? No animal based food binders? No Make up with animal fat? No...it goes on and on.

If you are not 100% Vegan then you have NO MORAL GROUND to judge Vick. You are just as guilty as he is. By your life choices in your diet and your lifestyle, you perpetuate the slaughter of MILLIONS of innocent animals. YOU ARE GUILTY!!!

And I dont want to hear your excuses "but that is different". No it is not and you can try to justify till you are blue in the face, you are a murderer too.

@Kathleen my chip is senseless arguments. Sometimes you have to let it go. This is a little personal because I have a pitbull. You hear people always talking about Mike Vick and how what he did was so wrong then as soon as they see someone with a pitbull they cross the street.

Without my dog I'm a interesting person but if I take my dog out I'm a stereotype AND @Joe was right! WE as Americans are hypocrites. We have to have our double/triple cheeseburgers, BIG juicy steaks, or something else meaty and ridiculously more than what we should consume. Then when we're finished, we throw it away. So long cow, you died just so I could eat 1/2 of my sandwich and then throw it away. OH wait a blog about Micheal Vick...THAT MONSTER!!!

@Joe: Vegan? Not a chance!! I love my meat, and I am not going to change, but I have to say this: Our domestic animals (and plants) threw their lot in with ours thousands of years ago, and by so doing, have become some of the most successful animals on Earth. They work for us, they feed us, they entertain us, and they evolve for us. We in turn, feed and protect them, and in some cases share our lives with them. That's the covenant. Our part of the obligation is to treat these beings with respect. Our animals have a right to be free of cruelty, pain, and mis-treatment. That has nothing to do with being Vegan. It has everything to do with being human.
He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals. – Immanuel Kant

Mr. Vick served his year and a half in prison, but tortured and killed dogs for over five years. He blames everything on his childhood and not knowing right from wrong. What percentage of his time and his 100 millions is he giving back to society or to help stop animal cruelty? Less than 1% at most maybe and that is what was court ordered. How much of the proceeds of his new book are going to help these causes that he now, all of a sudden, believes in after a few years? Shouldn't 100% of the book profits go towards a charitable organization? I hear his lips moving, but actions speak louder than words Mike.

Vick took advantage of this fact out of greed and a total lack of empathy. IMO Vick should never be trusted with a companion animal ever again. They are voiceless and we need to protect them!

I hope that Vick can never again make millions of dollars off of endorsements, books and clothing– yes, he served time and yes, he now should be able to work and make a living– but, he should never again be embraced by society– what if all the dogs he tortured and killed were children?? people like Vick shoudl be watched carefully for the rest of their lives, but not in a good way– Vick is doing a service for the community now and maybe(?) he believes the messages that he is spreading on behalf of the HSUS– we can only hope that is true
there is an old saying that "you can't shine s***" Vick is S***– he has a job now that pays him well– let him work at his job, but that is all- he should not get endorsements from sporting goods companies

I am so disappointed in Piers Morgan for having that monster on his show but even more disgusted regarding the tone of the interview. I admit I did watch it but I am angry with myself for wasting an hour of my time. Piers had his chance to make thing right for all the torture Vick put those beautiful animals through but all he did was put Vick in the limelight again and discuss all his attributes. Vick did not even apologize and yet he had the nerve to criticize the people who fought for the rights of these animals saying that the must have sinister things in their past. Many people did not have the perfect childhood but they do not torture animals because of their past. Instead of buying Vick's book everyone should read THE LOST DOGS by Jim Gorant and only then can you appreciate what hell Vick put the dogs through because of his childhood.

Let us not forget their actions of torture, hanging, beating, starving, etc. They killed kids and babies in the womb. I just lost the love of my life, Odie who was a Poodle, due to complications from diabetes. I cry everyday, still, for that dog. He was the best thing in my life. Anyway, For Odie, who came to me from an abusive home. He was rehabilitated and that can be done, the why not the dogs that survived Michael Vick?? For that matter, why not Vick himself?? It blows my mind how "Christians" tallk so much smack about what "good Christians" they are when they forget 2 things from the Bible. "Where mercy is shown, mercy is given", Judge ye not lest ye be judged," Then, there's a really good saying by way of the late, great bluesman Bo Diddley, "Before you accuse me, take a look at yourself.." Being a huge blues fan, THAT is my lifes mantra, not to mention my personal fave.

I canNOT believe that he even has any fans he makes me sick! They should have had to be treated the way he treated those dogs and had to have had to pay over 3 yrs salary equaling about $37,500,000

I find it interesting that Mr. Vick states that "if anyone had told him he would go to jail for dog fighting, then maybe he would have steered a different way." How about the compassion he apparently lacks towards another breathing creature, and one that wants nothing more than to make you, stupid human that you are, happy. So his regrets are because he went to jail and not because he was cruel to these dogs. He should still be in jail for his crimes and see if longer time can make him find his compassion. I will forever boycot the Eagles. Mr. Vick derserves the same treatment he gave to those dogs.

Let me ask you this – if you had what is probably the educational equivalent of a 7th grader would you play the part of the 'reformed beast' so you could get paid $100 million to workout and play football games for the next 10-15 years? Of course. He just sees dollar signs and interviews and books (written by someone else, for sure).
Really though. Study Vick's facial expressions and eye movements. He has no emotion or passion for dogfighting or probably anything for that matter. It's all about him. And this is what America wants for a role model? Puke.

CNN loses me with Vick on the show. He has proven his lack of character and no amount of back peddling
will change who he is. Those of us with a memory chose not to support T.V shows that sponsor him,
books, or any other commercial endeavor with his name included. What a sorry excuse of a human being and
no amount of sports records will ever change my opinion.

It makes me sick that you would have this pure excuse for a human being on the show. He drowned, electrocuted, tortured, hung defenseless dogs. What more do you need to know? You think we care about his environment? Have ever heard that Poitier, Belafonte, Mandela tortured animals? No you haven't because they are not hitler like monsters. This guys says if he thought he would go to jail he wouldn't have done it. What does that tell you? He didn't give a damn for the pain he caused, he stood around and laughed. I can't tell you the pain it causes me and all animal lovers to think of what those dogs went thru. He has no idea of the horror he caused. And now he's written a book (yeah, right, he wrote it, with a brain like that) and you treat him like he's a poor victim of his childhood. I feel no empathy, sympathy or compassion for him whatsoever. Shame on everyone who backs him – the Eagles, the humane society and you for giving this wretched creature air time. I agree with the others. Piers Morgan tonight is no more. I'm absolutely outraged.

Piers, how come you haven't interviewed members of the British Royal family who engage the the brutal sport of fox hunting?? Or lovely Ms. Palin shooting game from a helicopter! Mr. Vick, clearly not a educated or worldly man has done his time and had turned his life around. Unlike, say, Ms. Anthony who murdered her child and is chillin.

Probably because fox hunting or shooting game from a helicopter, as disgusting as those events are, are not illegal. Vick paid his price by serving his time and should be able to get on with his life. However, if he thought his appearance last night will change anyone's minds, he is mistaken. He made it quite clear he's only sorry for one thing – getting caught.

Vick should donate half of his salary to animal shelters nation wide. In other words, he needs to back up his claims of regret and remorse with some some cold hard evidence in the form of cold hard cash!! He is really disgusting and should never be allowed to own another animal of any kind. CNN, you really struck out by allowing Peirs Morgan to put him on his show.

He never showed any remorse. he only cares about him self. try to watch a video were they show what dog fight is about it. Does not matter what he does i will never support him or forgive him for what he did. He is a bad person and 2 years is not enough.

Marv Albert's girlfriend can google him, find out what he did, and make a decision whether or not to date him. Michael Vick's (potential) dog cannot. Like everyone else said, read The Lost Dogs. Especially the part about the little red dog. If you don't reconsider your feelings about Michael Vick after reading that, then you should go to work for him. Guess you won't mind if you end up in the same condition as that little red dog, since abuse doesn't really bother you.

IS THAT ENOUGH FOR YOU? And for your info being Christian doesn't mean you're allowed to get away with torture. You want to talk about God? Dogs are God's creatures as well. You appreciate he is man enough to discuss it? What is wrong with you? He's is not man enough to do anything but present a book saying he cried when he went to jail and oh poor me I'm a victim of my environment. He's not a man at all. You think he wrote the book (yeah right with his mentality he wrote it???) for anything but money, attention and for someone like you to say oh that's so wonderful of him what a guy. Dream on. The man is an animal abuser. Period. Don't bring God into this because God does not approve of torturing dogs either.

He kept shifting his eyes to look anywhere but at you as he answered your question regarding people's opinions of him. He has not changed. Anyone who can inflict the kind of pain and suffering on poor defenseless animals – and let's face it – he would still be doing these atrocities if he had not been caught – will not change. He allowed their suffering and you are promoting him by having him on your program. I used to watch your show. No longer. If you thought you would get viewers by having a controversial subject on, you are wrong. I am no longer a fan of yours or a viewer. Michael Vick is a sick man. Piers, Really.......I enjoy your show because you go after people who HIDE behind the TRUTH. When Vick sat there and told you he had no idea that dog fighting was illegal and/or wrong...give me a break....are we to believe a national football player, who had an education and common sense, had absolutely no idea that drowning, electrocuting and hanging a dog was not only a very cruel thing to do, but he didn't know it was illegal????? And, you didn't even call him on it. WHY??????????? He even admitted he kept the dog fighting hidden from his family.....he hid it....what does that tell you. And, he said "I didn't have anyone in my life to tell me it was wrong" Then why did he feel the need to hide it....Vick is and will always be a disgusting person. And, don't forget he didn't tell the truth until he was convicted. What does that say about him...then and today. He has not changed....he is still lying about everything......He isn't worth the time you wasted on your show. I refuse to watch him playing football, I certainly won't buy/read his book (just his lies to this day on how it wasn't his fault, he didn't have anyone in his life to tell him do not hang, drown or electrocute any animal) Disgusting.......

And was it just fighting which was bad enough? No he drowned, tortured, electrocuted and hung dogs probaly laughing the whole time. Anyone who has any sympathy for him or believs what he says or feels sorry for what his environment was should ask themselves if they have ever heard that Sidney Poitier or Harry Belafonte who also grew up poor tortured an animal. Do you really expect your audience to sit and listen to this animal justify why he torchered dogs and hung them from trees? Michael Vick may have grown up in a tough neighborhood but you know what, he grew up and went to college and became a football star AND he knew right from wrong! Bottom line, he liked the money and did not think he would get caught! I gave it 5 minutes and when I heard his pathetic words of how terrible it was to leave his kid to go to prison that was enough BS for me! You should have included some of the horrific photos where he allowed dogs to be tortured and hung. One more thing, this man should be banned from ever having another dog! In my mind he lost the privilege to have that wonderful experience with the first dog he decided to harm! Michael Vick is trash and you should be ashamed for giving him airtime to plug his book!

I add my two cents in here. Michael Vick is a butcher who has no right playing football again (I quit warching ALL NFL game whe he was reinstated – what a sad indictment on American sports). Piers, I used to have respect for you (despite you liking Rupert – as low or lower than Vick) but this is stooping to low.

I didn't want prison time for Vick I wanted caital punishment, by throwing him in a dog ring with a dozen pit bulls to give him personal exerience via his last thoughts.

Terrible lack of judgment having this butcher on your show. The producer who arranged it should be fired. CNN stooped to a new low by giving this jerk a platform. Today was a dark day for American TV – you must be ashamed!

By the way, my $2 goes to Soi Dogs in Thailand. The Humane Society are worse than vick with their three days and die policy. Soi Dogs is in Thailand and we do not kill strays here – higher morals than Amerika these days. Soi dogs was featured on CNN for dog rescues by boat during the Bangkok floods.

John Daly and crew are true heroes – exactly 180 degrees better that Michael "Butcher" Vick. Vick gets my vote for most contemptable human on Earth.

As to the dogs being euthanized in the shelter that is another criminal situation due to the stupidity, ignorance, laziness, selfishness of people get dogs and then decide they don't want them, people who neglect and abandon them, people who don't neuter and spay them. The shelters don't have room for all the poor souls who have had irresponsible owners.

Well thank you Piers for the interview. Mike is telling the truth. In the hood the kids do not know it was a crime with a felony penalty. Do you people who love animals more them humans know Vick has saved the lives of a lot of dogs because of the stupid crime he committed. People you come from a different place and if you think the place you were raised are the same as Vick you are lying to yourself. I did not know killing a dog was a felony until they sent two very young boys away for killing a puppy. Yes it was very wrong to kill the dogs but we eat meat and they eat dogs in China. You can walk down a market street in China and buy dog meat so I guess all the people in China are evil. GET REAL people who love dogs more than man.

While I think what he did is vile I am not about to cast stones. In the past we humans have created killers in the arena (Romans, etc) and cheered and praised them. We treat them as heros. It's no different today with WWF, football, etc. Don't then wonder why they have these type of tendencies.

Piers, you really need to go to your bosses and make some demands. Tell them they need to find you some normal people to have on your show. I mean all in one week you have had Robert Blake and now this Vick creep. OMG how could any law any where allow him to EVER own a dog again? This man (God, I want to call him a bad name really bad but then my comment will get deleted) is part of the reason Pitt Bulls have such a bad name. My son has two and they are the biggest babies ever. The reason is because they are treated good and not abused. I really liked you better on AGT and BGT but as for CNN they can kiss it.

I'm pretty sure you all call yourselves Christians. The purpose of the teachings is everyone deserves another chance especially if they repent. I believe you are attacking him because he is a black man. God knows his heart and I believe he deserves another chance because all of us have done wrong. You all are wrong now. I am glad man don't have to judge me. Michael Vick take care of your family and keep you hands in God's hand. I am not saying what he did is right, but I appreciate him being man enough to discuss what happened. I know a lot of white men that have done wrong and you all turn your head and they are actually operating talk shows.

@ Louis & Felicia u seem very self -righteous also it's very presumptuous to assume everyone Christians I think very few people on here have said anything about their religious beliefs!! The point is that he TORTURED AND MURDERED many innocent animals most of which never got to know any kind of kindness or love in their entire life!!! I'm quite sure hell fire is where he'll be spending the duration of his afterlife. Furthermore the fact that u find it necessary to turn it into a black white thing shows ur totally lack of intelligence. It's not a color issue it's a murdering pshyco issue!! U clearly don't know what ur talking about and weather or not it was legal it was clearly cruel and wrong!! I don't think the inhumane piece of trash that would do this deserves forgiveness or a second chance!! What he deserves is the same thing he did to those innocent animals done to him!!!

I woulld recommend, although I am sure it matters not, that this individual would think twice about his earring choice while trying to gain the "average" dog lovers forgiveness in any future interviews. I find it a disgrace that CNN and Piers Morgan give this piece of garbage Michael Vick this type of attention. I agree with others who referenced the book "The Lost Dogs of M. Vick", you should look at what the dogs has to endure and what others had to do to help these poor abused animals you wiill see that he is an absolute monster and does not deserve to be out of jail. He should have received a life sentence for the crimes he committed and he is not the least bit remorseful. All be cares about is money, fame, and his sorry self. I have boycotted Subway and Nike for supporting this dog murderer, and I will now boycott CNN. Shame on you Piers Morgan and CNN; Michael Vick is a dog murderer. His cruel acts upon innocent dogs is unforgiveable.
By the way in respsonse to Vick's statement, I can say these things about you for I have a clean slate. What you did is not the same as a broken promise. How dare you to act as if your crime was not a big deal.

Can he sleep at night hearing the cries of the innocent dogs he killed? Funny how sorry you can be when there's money attached to it. NO!! He should not be allowed the pleasure and happiness that dogs give us. Or perhaps he should be given the chance to adopt / love a dog so much only to have it destroyed by a over paid athlete. Michael Vick on CNN agrees with those who say that "EVERYONE deserves a second chance"...OK does society give child molesters a second chance around children? Would you? Does a woman give a man a second chance after he bashes in her head? Would you? If someone murdered your child or your mother? Wound you give that person this "second chance?" If EVERYONE deserves a "second chance," why do we have those in prison serving life sentences? Where is their "second chance?" Why have we executed people? Didn't they deserve this "second chance" that Vick and his supporters say they seem to believe everyone deserves? Why does Vick deserve this second chance and what exactly is this second chance he deserves? Is it 100 million dollar contract, to get out of jail, to ever own a dog? To have society think he's a great compassionate person? What is it? I mean come on, why do people just talk "crap." That's all it is, is a bunch of crap.

Vick is a sociopathic monster who should never be allowed near a dog again, but please don't make the mistake of thinking that the factory-farm industry is any better. Humane? Hardly-educate yourself about what really happens to the animals who wind up on your plate, and see if you still feel the same way. If you're horrified by Vick's actions but you continue to buy meat produced in slaughterhouses, you're trafficking in a whole lot of self-serving cognitive dissonance. It's easy (and proper) to condemn Michael Vick. It's a bit harder to give up food you enjoy, isn't it?

That has nothing to do with Michael Vick. We all know what Michael Vick did to his dogs and that he went to prison and now he thinks we should like him and buy his book and clothing, watch him play footbll for an obscene amount of money and let him have dogs and on and on and on. I too am astounded by how blind people are to this sociopath. In an article earlier today, he claims to have become very good at "reading" dogs.

Dear Mr. Vick... you claim that you became very good at "reading dogs." I have to ask.... Did you read the terror and fear in their eyes when they were forced to fight? Did you read in their eyes how painful their wounds were? Did you read the terror and fear in the eyes of the bait dogs when they were being torn up by other dogs, with absolutely no defense, as you ground down their teeth? Did you read the terror and fear in the eyes of the dogs that had not yet been thrown into the fighting ring, bred, used as bait, or killed – wondering when it would be their turn to be subjected to your abuse? Did you read the terror and fear in the eyes of the female dogs when they were forced to be bred? Did you read the terror and fear in the eyes of the dogs that you killed slowly by various torture methods? Did you ever once read the absolute, terror, fear and pain in the eyes of any of the dogs? If you are able to read dogs so well, as you claim, then you would have "read" all of the above in the dogs you were fighting. Which leads me to believe that you absolutely did not care, and were completely unconcerned about their incredible pain. No one that has any level of compassion or ability to "read" a dog, could ever have done the horrible, things you did to those dogs.

In your interviews, it is clear by what you say and how you say it.... that the only thing that you are sorry about is GETTING CAUGHT, and how you were affected.

You should NEVER be allowed to have a dog. How dare you think it's been unfair that you haven't been able to have a dog for your kids. Think about that, really think about how incredibly ludicrous that statement is.

If you really want to give back... put down the football, put your money and time towards the organizations that investigate and shut down existing dog fighting rings, and work to rehabilitate dogs that have been deeply scarred for life. Get involved and active personally. Take yourself out of the spotlight, be the "humble" person you claimed to be in the interview. You are not an example or a person to be looked up to by children and teenagers.

    Just sayin'

You self righteous idiots allow feces eating nasty dogs to lick your faces yet you call Vick harsh names. Dog fanciers face dwindling entries at conformation shows but side with these same so call animal lovers in bashing Vick...talk about sleeping with the enemy...how stupid. Think about all the atrocious things done to blacks here in this country. Treyvon Martin goes to the store to buy candy for his younger brother and is gunned down on the way home. SOME of you same people bashing Vick defend the Murderer of this young kid. Treyvon had the right to go to the store without interference. SOME of you same people give more rights to dim witted four legged creatures than you give to the firstborn of Yah, Some of you same people say that blacks should forget the past although the same things happen today. Thinks about the man in Jackson Mississippi last year who was ran over by a truck filled with drunken white men. Some of the crimminals were not even charged. Gimme a break!!! This isnt about dogs, Common sense says Vick was wrong on some counts. I have heard some people say he should be castrated or spend the rest of his life in prison. LET YOUR RACIST IDEAS SHOW. What are you going to do on the day of judgement when you stare into the BLACK face of The Most High????

Why does everything have to come back to blacks? WE did not abuse the blacks. WE did not use them as slaves and WE certainly do not support racism. So you know what? Stop making Vick off to be the innocent one here. Why is he innocent? Because he is black?
He MURDERED dogs. He ABUSED them. He fought them to their death for his ENTERTAINMENT. Then he would shoot them, drown them or hang them if they didn't die. He would slam them against the floor until they were dead. So do I respect him? No way in hell. But am I racist? No. If a white man did this, an asian man, an african man, an indian man, any race, I would feel the SAME EXACT WAY.
And NO he did NOT pay for his crime. You can't murder a living thing and get away with it. You are complaining about people being murdered and getting away with it, but what about the hundreds of dogs he killed? He didn't spend a day in prison. Are you saying he paid for his crimes because he couldn't have a dog for three years? Big bloody deal. I would be just as upset if he killed a baby. Animals have feelings too, just because you are a human being does NOT mean you are better than those dogs. He TRAINED them to fight and kill each other, that is what he enjoyed because he made money from it. He could care less for the dogs.
Stop being so ignorant. Wake up and realize this has nothing to do with people being black. He killed many dogs in horrible ways, but you are so blinded by YOUR racism that you can't realize that.

Two, you stated "He didn't spend a day in prison" which is totally dumb since he spent almost two years in Leavenworth maximum security prison. HE is not a role model, a football representative, or anyone that should be allowed on the streets let alone admired in a civilized society. Really am I supposed to feel sorry for Vick? His kids can’t have a dog for what he did. Does that get my sympathy? Oh hell no. Why doesn’t Mr. Vick explain to his kids why they are not allowed to have a dog? Why doesn’t he look them in the eye and say daddy murdered dogs by hanging, shooting, beating, electrocution, and any other way he wanted because they didn’t make him any money. I am so tired of seeing any idiot who can play a sport be held up on a pedestal despite their deplorable actions off the field. Bottom line: Vick is changed man and appears to have accepted responsibility (and punishment) for his actions and decisions. His turnaround story, his QB rushing record, his overall performance with the Eagles, and his dedication to his kids will be his ultimate legacy. All the rest of it will be an anecdote and a footnote.

Are you in lala land or did you just not read the majority of people's comments? The man is not sorry for the pain he caused the animals, rather he feels sorry for himself that he was caught and had to go through his "own pain" with his family. He talks as if the average person has committed just as many horrible crimes but hasn't been caught like he was. He should never have been allowed back into the NFL and more deserving players should have been given the chance to take his place. I work as a pilot and if I committed a felony I would never be allowed to be working in my career again. His all talk and no action and continuing to blame his childhood and others makes me sick. The guy still acts like a complete creep. Anyone who buys an Eagles ticket supports animal cruelty.

Michael Vick is a role model. He's a testament to a person making horrible decisions in their life and then working to make those wrongs into positive things for others. How many thousands of dogs has he saved with his campaigning to congress and public speaking on the matter? Some people just think they're holier-than-thou because they "love animals". Well, I also love animals, and I also love Mike Vick. He's a person who has made some big mistakes, paid dearly for them and is now turning it into something good.

listening to Vick interview and don't believe there is not much change in him. What you do in life shows the core of your character. Says no one knew, held in out of the way places,],but that didn't clue him in.. Raised with "outstanding morals and values"....Loved dogs growing up, yet lied to coaches, friends ,family and Mom about his activities.. When he said he was on golf course when he heard news and started at that moment to figure out what he needed to do to get out of this....says it all doesn't it. There is something missing in the make-up of people who abuse.

I think that everyone deserves a chance at redemption. I don't know of anyone who is without mistakes and errors in judgement. If Mr. Vick wants redemption it is between him and his Lord. We shouldn't be judging him, we should be ensuring that these types of inhumane crimes are stopped through education and effective legislation/laws. From a devoted mama of two beautiful APBTs, I praise any and all progress towards the fair and humane treatment of all animals.

I'd agree with you if Vick had even tried tio explain his actions. OK, he saw a dogfight at age 8. That's his explanation?? So what if no one told him dogfighting was wrong? He knew it was wrong because, as he plainly said in the interview, he did it in secret. Told no one he was involved in it and held the fights in the middle of the night.

I have such mixed feelings in regard to your interview with Michael Vick. On one hand I want to think and feel that people DO deserve a second chance. I also believe that one can reconcile themselves from activities in their lives that are not positive functions in everyday life.
From listening to the interview and hearing him respond to your questions, I feel he needs to be in counseling to help him understand the words "I did wrong, I was wrong, I failed" I never heard him speak any word like this in his interview. Therefore, I can fully understand the reaction of your viewers who posted comments and overwhelmingly were disgusted in you even having him on your program! These type shows is what pays your salary! The most outrageous characters is what gets peoples attention.
In closing I will say there is NO ONE on planet earth who has not made mistakes in life. I am not Michael Vick's judge. He has paid for his crime with what his peers convicted him of and an appointed judge for our society gave him a sentence. That has been met and therefore, I feel he has the right to pursue whatever he wants to pursue in life. I don't have to approve or disapprove. I can have an opinion and I have posted it.
I did see a political ad for President Obama (the one with Mitt Romney singing "America the Beautiful." This political ad offended me as I think Mr. Romney (even though his singing was not the best I've heard,) is derogatory and should be taken off the air immediately! From my observation over the past three years, I have nothing good to speak of about Mr. Obama and his leadership of our country. At least Mr. Romney has proven through his actions and leadership has convinced me that he cares about the United Sates of America. There have been several instances for Mr. Obama that has lead me to believe through his actions or lack of action, in my opinion, that he wants America to fail. I am opposed to his leadership in our country and will do whatever I can to help see he is defeated in November.
Mr. Morgan I know through viewing your TV show that you are completely against anything the Republican party has to offer. My opinion for people like you and others who have chosen to come to America and become a citizen, who don't like the idea of the American way (other than pay you big dollars in salary) to go back to where you came from! "America, America, God shed His grace on thee, and crown Thy good, with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea!" Go Mitt Romney, sing it!

No where in Vick's interview did I hear him say he now understands and regrets how his acts hurt, maimed, or caused the deaths of the animals he paid money or provided other support to keep that animal fight business going. He talked alot about getting caught, and the affect his getting caught had on his family. I'm a pretty forgiving person, but he hasn't realized at all what he did to those poor dogs who suffered for his and his organized dog fighting business. Not one word in this interview about those poor dogs who are maimed for life...those dogs could have been wonderful family members and pets. My personal opinion is Mr. Vick is incapable of understanding the wonder and the gift that dogs are...there is no feeling there on his part or it would have come out in the interview...he only understands himself...and will never understand what a gift dogs are...not to be taken for granted...my prayers to his family...to his kids...to the dog/pets he may never understand how special they are...

I'm very proud of Michael Vick for bouncing back and this story of redemption. He did it for himself, his kids and his family. He stands in the face of adversity everyday knowing that ignorant people hate him. He's brave enough to sit on National television and speak his mind and tell you the mental state that he was in at the time of his crime. Since he's come clean, he has never once denied his involvement. And, he's done so much good, traveling the country, speaking on the sin and horrible nature of dogfighting, donating his time and money to the humane society. He is trying to give back and turnaround a wrong and many of your refuse to see that. You also don't understand that Michael Vick did not invent dogfighting, he participated in it. Yes, because of his money and resources, he was able to facilitate a ring, but no means is he the person that you should be angry with. Dogfighting existed before VICK and it's still going on now. So get off your perfect high horses and learn some forgiveness. Because many people have. And thank God that the NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles have. I love Vick, first for his talent and even more since his retribution. I know that there's good in his heart. The rest of you can go to Hell.

Vick tortured and killed hundreds of innocent dogs for his own enjoyment. These dogs were completely innocent and helpless and this sociopath killed them for fun. Robert Blake's wife was a con artist who bilked hundreds of men out of thousands of dollars each. Not so innocent and we don't know for sure whether he actually killed her.

If Vick could kill innocent dogs you don't think that he would kill humans if given the chance?????

Instead of defending a callous sociopathic killer go find yourself a cause that will improve the lives of others...you seem to be interested in the Robert Blake case...you might want to get involved in fighting for the rights of murdred wives...

Robert Blake was never convicted of the murder of his wife. We don't know if he did it or not. The woman who was killed had many enemies because she allegedly bilked many many people out of money. She was allegedly a con artist and was probably murdered because of that. I don't think many people can feel a lot of sympathy for her.
I feel sorry for Robert Blake...he had a very tough life. As they say, she messed with the wrong person, whether it was Blake or someone else, she caused her own death.
The dogs that Vick murdered so cruelly did nothing to deserve or cause their horrendous deaths. You seem to be confused.

To James about Romney's singing ad–he sings like he feels–insincere! This is about a killer–an abuser who with his second chance will now try to prey on people by selling his clothing line and insincere words in a book. Who would ever wear anything with the stigma of an abuser! He should never own a dog and quite frankly I fear for his children as his sadistic need for control could erupt at home or on the field or in society. He said what he thought he should say with his cold eyes–obviously thinking about the right words as they did not flow from the heart of a kind, compassionate, loving person. Vic will never understand the bond between a dog and his owner–a dog deserves better than Vic. No cage big enough for Vic!

At no time did Vick show remorse for the horrendous acts that he committed on innocent dogs. His only remorse appeared to be that he was caught, convicted and properly jailed.
Piers, I have enjoyed your show even though I miss Larry King. If you do not rectify this travesty by presenting the other side of this story, I will not watch anymore. Oprah would have nailed that piece of trash for what he did, that is why he was afraid to be interviewed by her.

Well, Mr. Morgan you really sucked up to the dog killer. You read his book. Did you read The Lost Dogs? I doubt it. I always thought you had more character than to portray this vile human being as a victim. Or was your interview scripted by Vick's public relations team? You have sunk to a new low in my book. What's next? Will you interview Jerry Sandusky and make him a victim too? Vick tortured, mutilated and killer numerous dogs. He admitted this. He admitted he got an adrenalin rush by doing it. He lied to prosecutors that he was not involved and only when a photo of him at a dogfight was produced did he admit that he ran a dogfighting operation. He never served one day in prison for animal cruelty and the abuse he inflicted on those dogs. How much money has he donated to the shelters in Philadelphia? He should never have been allowed back in the NFL. He should still be in prison. Well, Mr. Morgan, you have aligned yourself with a monster. I thought you had higher standards. Now, when are you going to interview the people who cleaned up his mess and took in his abused dogs. When are you going to interview Richard Hunter?

As evident by this interview, Vick lied numerous times and continues to blame his environment and other external issues on his horrible behavior. He claims he went to sleep one night with gun fire outside and grew up in violence and that is why he did what he did. Vick...you have insulted every young black inner city male that have morals and know right from wrong. When asked what he thought of the people who believe he doesn't deserve a second chance, instead of understanding their feelings, he fired back saying "They are no saints either". Excuse me but I have never killed a living creature with my bare hands. I am not perfect but Vick...you are a monster. Again instead of addressing the question, you point to others and make excuses. Vick is smug and arrogant. His main concern was what others thought of him, not one statement apoligizes for killing animals. He never addresses the surviving Vicktory Dogs at Best Friends and never has paid a cent of his personal money to any animal organization. The Eagles donated money to HSUS, an organization that embraced him and an organization that has high paid CEO's and do very little for animals. Grow up Vick...redemption comes with being truthful.

Hi thanosfan. Let me first tell you that I worked in animal shelters for 20 years-because I was passionate about the work, not because I needed to log some hours to repair my public image-so your final assertion is not accurate. While I do think some of the Vick-hate goes too far (and, as I said upthread, I'm baffled by people who abhor Michael Vick but continue to buy meat from slaughterhouses), I can't agree that it's inappropriate to "judge" someone who did what he did and has yet to demonstrate any real understanding of why and how it was deeply wrong. If he were a convicted serial child abuser musing publicly about how he'd like to adopt a child, I suspect you'd be joining the outcry rather than scolding it.

He should be banned from EVER owning or being near a dog. In a normal family, I would say that having a dog is a good thinig, but his children will be fine without one. I cringe to thing of any dog ever again living under his roof.

“As the little red dog lay on the ground fighting for air, Quanis Phillips grabbed its front legs and Michael Vick grabbed its hind legs. They swung the dog over their head like a jump rope then slammed it to the ground. The first impact didn't kill it. So Phillips and Vick slammed it again. The two men kept at it, alternating back and forth, pounding the creature against the ground, until at last, the little red dog was dead."
If CNN and Piers Morgan wanted to demonstrate Vick's remorse about his actions, they failed miserably. The tough questions were never asked of Vick (the passage above should have been read and asked him to reply!) For anyone watching the interview, he was then and continues to be "all about him." The lame excuse for growing up in a violent neighborhood should have been explored further. Morgan should have been prepared to follow up on his excuse, as it has been consistent over the years and has come from his handlers. Morgan should have asked “What about Johns Hopkins Hospital’s world renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, who grew up in a poor violent neighborhood of Baltimore City; his choice was to save lives instead of taking them! There are many more notable figures that experienced the same poverty and crime growing up and did not engage in torturing and killing living creatures….so what is the difference? To me, the difference is unmistakable; they are not sociopaths.
Whether it matters to CNN or Piers Morgan, I will never watch his show again. As an interviewer, he scored zero. He must have chosen to be ill prepared because he knew how Vick would respond and at those responses, a pugnacious approach would have been appropriate. Farewell CNN & Piers Morgan!

There is no excuse for torturing and killing animals who do not even stand a chance to protect themselves, especially for some twisted fun and profit. Shame on CNN for airing and creating publicity for someone who lost his human side and was committing crimes like this. Animals are living beings too, what made him think he HAD THE RIGHT to make them suffer?! Knowing wrong from right does not excuse killings and torture, that's for sure – a normal human would FEEL the difference.

During this interview last night, I was struck by how Vick kept saying he wishes someone had told him he could go to jail for dog fighting, and that would have stopped him. He didn't say he wished he hadn't hurt innocent animals. Then when he talked about his mother crying and son being separated from him, he said it was hard on the family to have their lives disrupted, not that they were shocked and ashamed at his cruelty. A "comeback" is someone who has an injury or a tragedy to overcome. Someone who willingly and purposefully tortured and killed dogs not only for entertainment but also for profit, is not someone to root for nor someone who should be profiting from a book about it.

Vick is misunderstood for reasons he doesn't understand. REALLY? It's not because you played opposite their favorite football team and won. It's not because you WERE one of NFL's most exciting players. It's because you are a heartless monster who fought, torched, drowned, hung and electrocuted defenseless dogs for money and your own pleasure. Had you not been caught you would still be doing the same today. You are sad your children haven't been able to have a dog – did you MAN UP and tell them why? Or, did you pass the blame to someone else? You can't un-ring a bell but you can spend every day of the rest of your life making up for your unspeakable acts. If you are truly sorry for your actions and you want to be "finally free" then be the advocate to stop all the other "Michael Vick's" out there that walk down the path. Donate the profit from your book, clothing line etc and support the rescue groups that spend (spent) countless hours and money cleaning up your mess. It's unbelievable that CNN, Pierce Morgan or anyone would give a heartless monster one second of airtime, let alone advertise Vick's book. I will not spend one cent enriching sponsors or any company that stoop so low.

Man you people are more evil than Vick! He has learned from it and now he is trying to do what he can to teach what he's learned!Damn people! the 18 months in prison was nuthin compared to what people like you put him thru every time the man talks .He is agreeing with you. What he did was barbarrick! He agrees with you!Mike Vick is doing what God really put him here to do. Playin football gave him the platform and the rope to hang himself. Now he is hopefully givin some lil boy a chance to learn from his mistakes, and understand that dog fighting and dog killig is wrong, even when you grow up ur whole life exposed to that and seeing elders in ur community doin it,and nobody ever tellin that lil boy it was wrong not to do that.He is a grown man that is doing all he can to take the responsibility for what he did,& try just try to make it right. He can"t undo what he did,but if he can change the fate for one child, why cant u people let him carry out the mission that god himself put him on.I have no children but I am an animal lover myself,I have sweet lil four legged friend that sleeps in my bed on her own pillow, every night.I cant stand the thoughts of anyone causin her harm. But I support what Mr.Vick is trying to do.I dont think he is a monster,He is a grown man that lost his way from childhood but knows the difference now.YOU PEOPLE ARE THE MONSTERS NOW<NOT HIM!!!!

Hello – It's interesting to see all the back and forth discussions and how God, religion, diversity, the history of blacks and whites, chinese eating dogs – got into all of this is amazing – I guess that's why nothing gets done – a shame.

Bottom line – Vic tortured dogs, looked into their eyes, saw their pain, heard them cry – and he didn't care. I don't care if he is an amazing athlete, and I don't care what colour his skin is – if he was white, black or red – he does not DESERVE a dog in his life. Why this is even being debated is beyond me. Honestly, he should have his pay check gleaned every week and that money should go directly to Animal Rescue to help rehab dogs and stop dog fighting – let's put his millions to proper use – let him play football, take his money and actually DO something – that would show me that he is ACTUALLY REMORSEFULL. Vic – here is my challenge – put your money and your mouth to good use – Do something and change the situation for millions of Abused dogs – and do it for the rest of your life.

So, I just assume that everyone who is crucifying Vick is also a vegan right? Right?

Vick isn't the only one who hurts animals. Just because cows aren't as cute as dogs, doesn't mean we can forget about them. You people want to boycott CNN and Nike for promoting Vick. If your really want to stop animal cruelty....stop eating animals.

There are many people that make many mistakes. I drove drunk many of times until one night I got caught. If I would have never gotten caught I would have continued to do so. I put hundreds of innocent people in harms way every time I drove. I knew it was wrong but didn't stop and really think how bad it was. Buck made a mistake also. His was more severe because he didn't get caught early enough. He is a changed man. He has given more money to charitable foundation than me and you will make across our lifetimes. I did not hear the words I'm sorry come out of his mouth. Do you really think that you or me really deserves an apology. No. He didn't kill your family. People need to learn that people can change.

I watched the interview on CNN, half knowing it would be pity party for the "victim" michael vick, and it was. Me, myself and I. Not a word about the poor dogs he so brutally tortured and killed with glee. Piers Morgan did everything but kiss his behind. Disgusting and sickening. I read Jim Gorant's ( he is a sports writer, by the way) "Lost Dogs". It was the most difficult and gut-wrenching thing I have ever read. Anyone who supports this monster vick is just as bad as he is.

Hi there...I am really glad he has given more to charity – comment made – how do you know? Does anyone have the statistics on the money he has given to date, and the money he is going to give? Where did this money go? For example: Dog fighting rehab? Vet bills to heal the dogs that were used by him to fight other dogs? Dog sanctuaries to house ex-fighting dogs? A volunteer training program for ex-dog fighting gang members? The possibilities are endless for him to provide funds? Can someone enlighten me? I understood that he gave a pitence of money to help rehad the dogs that they took from him? Am I right?

America is so funny. Most Americans argue just for the sake of arguing and past judgement so easily. While at the same time using the age old saying "No ones perfect".

I've read some post and have seen that some comments are convicting his kids for his crime....REALLY?!

As much as I understand the premise behind disliking Mike Vick. Who are you to judge his kids? ...or say that he doesn't deserve a second chance.

Also it KILLS me as a pitbull owner. People hate what Vick did with these dog at the same time every time we take our dog to the dog park, you can see all the other owners staring, grabbing there dogs and clinching their butt cheeks. Seriously, why would I bring my dog to a leash free dog park, just to allow him to attack everyone?! these are the same type of people crucifying Vick.

I LOVE my dog, he is a extension of our family BUT if you were to tell me 10 years ago that I would own a PITBULL, spend nearly 2000 for obedience training, buy dog insurance, expensive organic dog food and love him as much as a son...I would say get the F out of here, it's just a dog.

Point of this post is people change. Also there are worse things happening in this country than Micheal Vick and this is coming from a dog owner who loves his dog.

Our rescue has plenty of dogs available for adoption one in particular would be a perfect fit. Renny was used as a bait dog, They pulled her teeth, then poured acid down her face and head when through with her. OUr group rescued her and had her medicaly treated. She still has sight in one eye and is very sweet. Vick is a real hero in the dog fighting community and dogs like Renny are the losers. I agree, with a caveat. If Michael Vick is really all that remorseful, I want to hear about how sorry he is about the pain he inflicted on those animals. I want to see it in his eyes. Then, I would say he MIGHT be able to own a previously tortured dog and nurture it. Only I would want a 24/7 camera on that dog, to protect IT from HIM. Of course, that would be impossible, because, as he said, it would never be a bit bull. Like it is the breed's fault or he wants to distance himself from what he did. MAN UP.

Thankfully for the dogs that were sized most of them were rehabbed and now live with loving families. But you Michael Vick said that you with a friend repeated slammed a dog into the ground to kill it. You tied up female dogs for breeding, you pulled their teeth so they could not fight back, you used bait dogs dogs to timid to fight and so you used them to incite other dogs. You are a sick man and you should never own an animal again in your life. You don't want to hurt your children you should have thought about that before you because a big time dog fight promoter and owner.
You know right from wrong and the only reason you feel any public remorse is because you got caught. I have no doubt that if you had not been caught you would still be killing dogs. You are lying to yourself and the public.. Good spin Doctors on your payroll

Michael Vick cried on his way to jail not because of what he did to defenceless dogs but that he got caught- what better way to be a role model to his children and his fans then to teach them that there are consequences of your actions whether you are a football player, a CEO or poor man. He does not deserve to have a pet- that is a privilege not a right. Irrespective of how good a football player he is– that didn't matter to the dogs he killed and tortured. Its about time we all realize that....

It's sick that the reason he regrets his actions are that if he'd known it would hinder his NFL career, or that someone had told him his actions were wrong, then he would not have participated in the heinous dog fighting and killing of dogs. Not once did he mention regret for the inhumane treatment of mans best friend and Piers did not raise the point. What a joke. I saw nothing that makes me believe he is truly sorry for torturing these poor, innocent animals, only regret related to his football career. The thought that he'd ever have another dog in any environment where he resides sickens me. I don't give a sh-t that his kids don't have a dog. These dogs represented loyalty, and were the symbols of many Army and Marine Corps units throughout the century. Yet you get fulls like Vick in there to destroy a breed of dog. Vick you are a moron. I have 2 dogs one a rescued APBT that i found roaming the streets of Baltimore after back to back blizzards 2 years ago. He has become my best friend and most loyal companion. Where is the push-back on this book from the media? From what I have read and am lead to understand, Vick basically uses the book to admit that he lied – and would still be lying about this whole thing had he not been caught. Doesn't really come out and offer any contrition to his actions, those he hurt, etc.
Just another example of someone who is not sorry for what he did (and probably still thinks that there isn't anything wrong with it), but is sorry that he got caught and will say/do anything to try to get his "fame" back. I don't see how this guy is getting the pass that he has been given on this. Yes, he did "his time". However, isn't the point of time to try to rehabilitate the person from what put them there?? Aren't his statements in this book proof that he hasn't changed anything really – just the perception of himself in the media???

When Vick apologizes for what he did, then he can be forgiven. The only thing he has apologized for is getting caught. Not once has he been concerned for the dogs he harmed. He just makes it all about himself. If he cared he would donate some of his millions to the organizations who are now caring for those poor dogs. As far as him saying he won't get a pitbull, pitbulls are amazing dogs. There are no bad dogs, only people who make them that way.

I don't normally watch piers Morgan's show, but when I saw on the crawl that Vick was going to be on I made sure to record it. Having had a Pitt bull in my family and personally knowing many wonderful, sweet, gentle, and extremely intelligent Pitt bulls, the case of Vick has always interested me. Although I feel what he did to the many animals he tortured is horrible, the awareness of an underground world of dogfighting in this nation which his case brought to the surface was an important thing for people to see. I hope people will begin to see that it is not the bread of dog that determines their aggressiveness, but instead the environment and training they are exposed to. While I believe the punishment for animal crulity should be much more harsh, under the present laws in this country Vick has served his time. Instead of just being made at Vick, piers, or CNN people should work towards changing these laws to better protect innocent animals In the future. Call your congressman, join an animal rights PAC, make your voice heard.

Untill watching this show i believed Vick was remorseful for his actions, but after watching it I strongly doubt he feels any guilt for the many animals he abused. I do understand that an environment in which an individual grows up in can have a major impact on their behavior, however Vick does not seem to understand that it was his behavior that made the Pitt bulls into the fighting beings that he used for entertainment. I am glad he will never get another Pitt bull, but found his comment to show his true ignorance. I believe in second chances and rehabilitation but it seems like Vick has quite a way to go. Maybe he should start by reading Lost Dogs ( a very eye opening book).

One last thing. I do happen to be a vegan, but find it very strange that anyone could compare eating meat to the world of dog fighting. Although I do not choose to eat animals, there is a big difference between this and dog fighting. We should try to stick to the topic at hand and discuss the justification or lack of one regarding dietary issues at another time.

Jillian, As to vegan I see the mass slaughter of animals vicious and cruel. It is also killing our planet in a variety of ways. 'Nuf said.

I had a house "in the rubber" with my next door neighbor about 100 meters away. They had a pit bull named Lucy. Every thime I walked by Lucy was quit friendly, jumping on me and very happy.

However, other dogs were a different story. Lucy would eat them!

One day I was working and heard a terrible commotion outside. I ran out to find a terrier puppy in a culvert. I am a well known animal lover and thai's frequently left dogs outside my house. In this case Lucy had her eyes on the baby terrier but all my dogs had her surrounded and distracted. I said I may lose my hand but I can save the puppy so I reached litterly into her jaws and pulled out the puppy, whch I still have.

My experience with pit bulls is theyare often loveable with humans they know, but other dogs and strangers are at high risk. Before Thailand I lived in Hawai'i, where pit bulls arethe macho thing. The cliche is a muscle 4X4 pick-up, gun rack in the back window, a battered wide in the passenger seat and a pit bill.

I really enjoyed Lucy jumping up on me and playing, but I still worry about pit bills with other dogs.

Pit bulls are no different than any other dog when it comes to their response to strangers and other dogs. There is a big difference, however, in the response of a 10lb Yorkie yapping at you, and an 80 lb Pittie. The key lies in how well they are socialized as puppies. The first 16 months of a puppy's life are absolutely key in what kind of dog he will grow up to be. Pups that are removed from their mother and their littermates before the age of 8 or 10 weeks don't learn the interaction skills they need to deal with other dogs. It is absolutely the most important thing in a puppy's upbringing that in his first 16 months of life, that he get to meet as many strangers and new dogs as possible, and be shown the proper way to act.
It is an absolute truism that if you devote the time to your puppy's first year of life, you will reap the benefits for the rest of your time together. This is just as true for Pitties as it is for any other breed. Unfortunately, some dog owners wait until problems crop up before they act, and by then, the task is much more difficult.

Lingyai, First I want to say I am sorry for the long letter. I can never make a point with just a few words :O)

I love all animals as you do. I think people know where I live too. :) we just found two little kittens next door, which the house back there should have been condemned years ago. The people that lived there..I think someone still does. Well they have mental disabilities, seriously. They will take kittens from someone in town giving them away (I think because they really like animals) but they don't have $ to feed them, or take them to a vet or even to the shelter.. It's a crying shame that people over in Thailand would pass up a beaten, starving dog on the streets. I did not know if you are God fearing man, a Christian...but God speaks of the animals in His word. He does say, the person that is cruel to his beast is wicked!

People that would pass by an animal in dire need is just as bad as someone turning their backs on a homeless person asking for a $1.00. We, as people of the world hold a responsibility/duty to the less fortunate. I am a Christian, a Patriot and an advocate for anything that breathes and does not have a voice. That includes children, the elderly, the mentally challenged, and animals! I get furious at the fact of the abuse in the world. I have just recently made my peace with God, and now I can take my cares and worries of such things and hand them over to Him. It's much better than carrying them around on my back. I cry and pray a lot. Any animal advocate, that sees the end results of what man or woman can do to the animals has to cry...even if the horse, little kitten, dog, whatever is already dead. You see, I see it from a different perspective, I know they are dead...but it's 'what' happened to them to make them dead. And to actually 'know' that it is still happening around the world!

Lingyai, I appreciate you for saving that puppy. I belong to a group on Facebook, called "[National Pit Bull Awareness Campaign]"...I am a Pit lover, but never owned one of my own. Someone dropped off a female dog,
(she was 2 years old) here in our parking lot one day...we know the whole story behind it, but will spare you the details, they aren't gross, it just time consuming. At any rate, no one else was out in the parking lot in front of our house. I didn't even think she was a pit. I went into the house and grabbed a lead, I noticed she had a collar on her. I went to the parking lot, and she looked confused, the idiot that owned her, tossed a stick for her, and when she went to get it, he left! Anyway, I sat in the parking lot with my back to her...every so often keeping my peripherals on her...she eventually saw me as no threat and came to me, I hooked her up and we slowly went into the house. We already had three dogs, one of witch was an old female Beagle,, that had belonged to my mother before she passed, so we took her in. We found out everything we needed to know about "Chantico", (Shan-tee-ko) we found out that was her name...we kept her for 4 months, and we'd have to watch her because every time Tessa the old beagle would go near her she'd pick Tessa up with her mouth and shake her. Now Tessa was not a small dog, well she was suppose to be small, but she actually looked like a hotdog with toothpick legs...We would get on to Chantico, and love on Tessa. One day my daughter came over with her Black Lab...now that was a dog that loved the immediate family, but was also a liability. My daughter had many close calls with Rylee, her dog! When she came over I had Chantico tied to a big old tree, and before I could get to her she got lose and ran up in a playful manner to Rylee, and Rylee wiped up the floor or in this case the ground with Chantico. It took me awhile after the we all stopped the snarling teeth, to locate Chantico, she was way down next to the river, on the other side of an old growth tree that fell. I called her to me, and she came and I checked her, and she appeared fine. She was not going to attack Rylee I could see it in her face, all she could see was a friend and she wanted to play.

I also had a Husky/shepherd mix, and Chantico never bothered her. Sadie, the Husky/shepherd was not a fighter unless pushed. We had someone from the Human Society come out and take pictures of Chantico. And then we went to this mall that the Humane society held for adoptable pets. Within one hour Chantico caught some guys eye and he was off to bring his elderly friend over to view her. The elderly man put down a $100.00 check, and off they went with Chantico.

I found out who had adopted her, and I'd call from time to time to see how she was doing, the elderly woman said her husband went to take Chantico for a walk, well the man landed on his face. I should have warned them that she pulled me across the driveway one day and I weighed in then ay 175lbs. The ending of the story, this Pit got a home, loved her new owners thay were elderly...and she was doing fine the last I'd heard. I need to call again, because the last time I called the woman was closing down her tree farm due to her going blind. I don't like to think of Pits as chasing down and tearing up puppies and kittens...something snaps I guess, others can live peaceable with other animals. Thank you for rescuing that puppy! As for mike vick, my motto is: Pits Rule, vick drools! ( I did not capitalize his name on purpose, he does not deserve my respect or anything else! Thank s for listening, may God bless you and thank you for loving the animals of the world!–Teresa Norman =^0^=

I am somewhat amazed at those of you who continue to condemn Mr. Vick for his involvement with torturing dogs. I am an animal lover, however, as i see it, Mr. Vick served time for what he did. It is my humble opinion that many people have killed human beings and walked away with a lesser sentence than was given Mr. Vick for his role in the dog fighting. I am satisfied that once a person serves time for their infraction, they should be permitted and welcomed back into society to (hopefully) fruitfully live out the rest of their life.

Let's not be so sanctimonious:) What bad or derogatory things have you done that no one else knows about that could have been an embarrassment to you and your family and/or landed you in prison? Just saying!!!!!!

Well now, more free publicity for a piece of trash who is once more gaining from his immoral and unforgiveable actions.
If you buy this book you are as much to blame for encouraging. He should have been banned from any contact with a living being a planted in the desert up to his neck in sand, covered in honey and let the animals follow their own instinct. He should rot like the trash he is for such an unforgivable act.

Ha You make me laugh Piers Morgan.. did you really ask Vick what type of dog he would adopt? I know of no place (shelter or rescue) that would adopt to Vick. Every agency is intrusted with finding their pets a wonderful home. If Vick wants a dog he will have to buy one and I wonder what kind of breeder would put another dogs life on the line for a quick buck. OH that is right Chris Brown is now breeding dogs.

I can't believe this. Vick murdered dogs in horrible ways. Even though I am not a strong animal lover myself, this still enrages me. Letting him adopt a dog is like letting a person-murderer adopt a child. I believe he has the right to live as a free man, but he should never be allowed to own any type of animal, ever. Maybe he did his time, but that does not mean he should be allowed to own a dog.

Vick should never be allowed to have a dog..I don't care about his kids, let them pet someone elses dog! I never had a dog as a kid and I grew up ok..As an adult I've always had dogs and never once abused any of them.
Vick has a temper and finding God won't do a thing for his temper...Stay away from dogs Vick!

First off...he did NOT serve his time for torturing those poor dogs. He went to jail for the act of dog-fighting itself. He never received ANY punnishment for what he actually did to the dogs.

That being said, I'm a firm believer that although some people can be rehabilitated, people like him can not. What he did was not a simple mistake. A mistake is "oops, I spilled the milk.", or "oops, I put a red sock in with my white laundry." This vile human being took an imense amount of pleasure in not only fighting these dogs, but torturing and killing the ones that didn't perform, in the most horrific of ways. Ways that would make most people sick to their stomach...just at the thought. People that get enjoyment and a thrill out of torturing and killing another living, breathing being are quite simply...evil. And evil can't be fixed. There's no way this piece of garbage is sorry for anything, except for the fact that he got caught and had to cry his way to jail. If he hadn't been caught, he would still be doing it. And using his childhood as an excuse is just that...an excuse. Sorry, loser...I'm not buying what you're selling. Not now....not ever. Go back under the rock you crawled out from. No one wants to hear your pathetic pity-party.

U people are nuts. Channel that dog loving energy to human loving and go march on the federal reserves. It's an illegal private organization that the govt borrows paper from and pledges you and your children's labor to repay the debt in the form of interest. Our founding fathers hated bankers. Ask your congressman why they borrow money at interest from an organization that loans to its banking buddies at zero interest. Ask about public money. Ask why the only way to get out of this recession is to go to world war. Condemn that!

    To Alvin
"why do some of you think Vic needs to prove something to you? He doesnt. get a life" WE DO HAVE A LIFE – full of love and care for those who are weaker that us and cannot protect themselves from cruelty of someone like Vic. And yes, once a man shows violence he should prove to the society that he can continue being a part of this society. And sometimes on certain conditions. Society does not need more violence – it's a natural thing. Yes, he should prove he is not violent. And yes, he should be banned for life from having a dog, a cat, a bird, a fish – anyone he can release his violence on. It's an easy way out – to cry on a ntational TV, it does not prove a thing and it does not make him a man either!

I'm not ready to forget what Vick has done. I will never be ready to do that, and neither should anyone else. We can forgive, and I think it's about time, but never forget. That means that we shouldn't let this sociopath within 20 miles of a dog, or any other animal in my opinion. By the way, "definitely not a pit bull"? Was he seriously blaming the breed for his actions, or what? Pit bulls aren't for everyone, but they're not evil monsters that belong only in a fighting ring. No dog is. Maybe I'm just taking something from his words that he didn't mean, but really...

The fact that Vick is even considering getting a dog is a slap in the face to all the devoted rescue organizations and individuals who have spent years rehabilitating the dogs he brutalized. Once a reprobate always a reprobate (I'm having trouble coming up with an adjective that fully describes the evil he embodies) and I wouldn't trust him with a dirty sock let alone a living, breathing, loving, innocent dog! As a dog breeder and lover, this story makes me sick to my stomach!

Joe... if that is your real name...what the hell does your comment mean: –>"So glad all these Vegans are in opposition to
Micheal Vick...I mean...you guys must be Vegan right??? No Animal Products in your lives what
so ever right? No leather, no dairy, not animal made glues? No gelatins? No animal based food
binders? No Make up with animal fat? No...it goes on and on."

Question, what does one have to do with the other? If you are trying to defend Vick you are doing a pretty bad job of it!

Question: what does one have to do with the other? ->"If you are not 100% Vegan then you have NO MORAL GROUND to judge Vick. You are just as guilty as he is. By your life choices in your diet and your lifestyle, you perpetuate the slaughter of MILLIONS of innocent animals. YOU ARE GUILTY!!!

Question: How does one perpetuate the slaughter of MILLIONS of innocent animals, when the people you are speaking to are Vegans or Vegetarians?

"And I don't want to hear your excuses "but that is different". No it is not and you can try to justify till you are blue in the face, you are a murderer too."....*NOT*

EXCUSES? I do not give excuses, I give facts. How many dogfights have you attended? How much did you put on the "winning dog? And what did YOU do when your dog/s did not win..c'mon, be open..everyone will find out sooner than later!

    July 18, 2012 at 6:04 pm

Question: how does one "perpetuate the slaughter of MILLIONS of innocent animals."..if a person does not eat meat? You DO NOT make sense!!

*And for all you Vegans and vegetarians out there, it's fine to protest such atrocities, I'm afraid Joe knows nothing of morality...

*Sorry "Joe" but you are headed upstream, fighting against the currents! I am not a vegetarian, nor am I Vegan, I do own leather, I eat meat, dairy, eggs,.. but you are blind, you do not understand. I will try this once, then I will move on to bigger and better things!

First of all "Joe" fighting dogs in the USA is illegal. People like vick makes these dogs fight to the death..and when one dog does not win..well, you sound like you are pretty hip on what is going on in dog fighting. Dog fighting has not one thing to do with whether a person eats meat or meat by products whatsoever! What Vick did was against the law, against God's law, and against the Pits he put through hell! Perhaps Joe – "You really must stop getting your medications from the guy who lives under the freeway overpass." You can't always count on them people right? As far as I'm concerned, I do not like vic, if I had my way, he would be sitting at home, with his children in protective custody, I would throw vick off of any more NFL games. And he would never be able to have another animal for the rest of his miserable life! Teresa Norman

Mike Vick does not deserve a second chance and certainly does not deserve to own a dog ever again. He starved, beat, hung, burned and tortured those poor dogs beyond belief because he is sick to the core and gets his jolly's from seeing them suffer. I saw the photos of the starved dogs. How can anyone think he should ever be near any animal again. There is no treatment for this kind of illness. He will forever be an animal abuser and he will do it agian if sever action is not taken and he is not monitored for the rest of his life.

"Mike"...you, dear sir, need a life! mike vick CAN do whatever he wants. God gave us all our own free will. mike vick needs to know that a lot of his supporters are falling off, slowly but surly! By your post you have told a lot about yourself...you do not care what anyone else does or to what or whom. You have no real dedication for anything!! mike vick is detestable! He does not fool anyone, except the blind that he is sorry for ANYTHING that he has done! I am an ANIMAL ADVOCATE! Do you even know what that means mike? Well, it means I CARE! God gave me free will as well as you and vick. It depends on where you are going AFTER you die that makes or breaks your eternity! ANYONE that hurts any animal intentionally, goes against God's word! God says that the man that is CRUEL to his beast is a "wicked" man! To me a "wicked" man does not get into heaven! And guess what? I am not only an animal advocate, I am a Christian...I know where my destination lies, I know where my allegiance lies, I know that Jesus is my King! Now, go fall on your knees mike, ask God to forgive you of your evil ways, be baptized into Christ and start attending the church to worship God, and edify your brethren., vick needs to do the same thing. And as far as I'm concerned ANY company that supports such a person as vick has lost my money! I stay away from them like the plague! A lot of my family and friends are doing the same till people get it through their heads that what vick did, was WRONG!!! 'Nough said. you have been spiritually warned...now the ball is in your court dear mike! I will no longer read your posts nor will I spend MY TIME writing to you again! Have a peaceful and safe day mike! -A CONCERNED ANIMAL ADVOCATE!

Yea Joe, I am vegan, what of it? It's just what I eat, not how I play. Saying Vick can have a dog after doing 18 months in prison – a sentence that did NOT include any rehabilitation – is like saying Jerry Sandusky can adopt a child after doing 18 months in prison. Neither stopped what they were doing because they regretted it. They stopped because they were CAUGHT.

-->GEORGE, you did not have a "reply" button, so hopefully you get this. You are so correct in the manner of a Pit or any dog for that matter when you say: "The key lies in how well they are socialized as puppies. " My daughter got a black lab puppy, they, her and her husband either one knew how to raise dogs...my daughter still has Rylee ( the lab), and loves her very much, when it's time for her to be put down, my daughter will be lost for awhile, I know.

But Rylee was a BIG liability, she would lunge at children on bikes or skate boards, she hated the mail person (but what dog doesn't right), One time I had her in my Subaru, she was way in the back. I stopped to get gas, the attendant came around to open up the gas lid and Rylee almost busted out my back window to go after the guy! She has not one ounce of Pit in her. She is 10 years old now, and has learned some manners and is doing better. My daughter will put a muzzle on her when she takes her for walks or to the Vets. I think the muzzle scares people more than the dog. But I warned my daughter that if Rylee hurt anyone, that she, my daughter, would have no say in the matter, if the judge says the dog has got to Euthanized, then that is what will happen! I think I put a bit of a scare in my daughter!

I say if someone gets a new puppy, and they haven't really had to be responsible for animals in the past...that they should get resources, videos, books, a dog training class. Whatever it takes to assist the person and the dog to bond and have a better relationship with the world around them. Thanks for listening. Hopefully you get this post!–Teresa Norman

The interview vic had with Piers Morgan was sometime back...but I still feel the way I always do...m.vic is not worthy of owning ANY animal. I have even stated that the CPS should check on him due to the facts that have pointed to be true that animal abuser have an extraordinary chance of being child abusers! FACT!!! I pray to Go for the dogs that he had and are still alive and that they have warm, loving, good homes, and I only pray to God that His will be done on ANY person that abuses animals, children, the elderly, any person or thing out there that they are beating on and torturing. May God bless the innocent, have mercy on those that do these things, because God forgive me, I would not!! PITS RULE VIC DROOLS!!!
