Rick Santorum on Paul Ryan's policy ideas: "Paul's been able to reach across the aisle and get bi-partisan support"

This evening at 9 p.m., Rick Santorum joins Piers Morgan to give his take on GOP Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan. During the interview, Santorum shows particular support for Paul Ryan's Medicare policy idea:

"The facts actually are on our side when it comes to making the pitch to the American people," said Santorum.

The former Pennsylvania senator says Ryan is different than the current president in the way he does business in Congress:

"Substantively, what Paul [Ryan] has done is come up with innovative bi-partisan ideas," Santorum explains. "This is the important thing, unlike President [Barack] Obama who has run a very partisan administration. Paul's been able to reach across the aisle and get bi-partisan support for a lot of the ideas he's put forward."

Watch the clip and tune in tonight as Santorum explains why he supports Mitt Romney's selection of a vice presidential running mate.

EXACTLY! The killer statement everyone is affraid to make: Guess what!? Bush wasnt a conservative! The idea that the American people are so stupid, they cant understand the difference in what RYAN an Romney want to do and what Bush did is scary. WAKE UP PEOPLE! Romeny is not Bush, Bush spent like Obama on steroids and Romney says its time to pay some bills and take our vegatables, and everyone says "O yeh, like Bush did" NO! That is so wrong and people dont understand it and its frightening to think it could mean 4 more years of abismal growth under Obama!

Piers should know better than to show this kind of bias. The Ryan plan is a STARTING point...not an ending point!! Negotiations will happen to iron out other differences...this is a must for our children and grandchildren.
Would putting your head in the sand and find out in 12 years Medicare is bankrupt be better?? Common sense! Stop
        the fear tactics!

Santorum is nothing but racist. During one speech he al most slipped and called Obama the n-word, and amazingly, the speech was in Ryan's hometown.

While we've all heard of ( Trickle Down ) and the theory that you give money to the rich and somehow that trickles down to the middle class.......what about (Trickle Up.).....where you give money to the middle class and they spend it and it trickles up to business.

Can Piers ask the next Republican what thy would think of ( Trickle Up ) and allowing business to compete for the business and benefit that way….a win win….no?

There is also the Democrats version of trickle down economics. The Government trickles down benefits to the citizens (and their fund raisers of course.) Doesn't that quite sum up Obama's economic approach? How is that working?

Piers injects his own opinion all of the time. What is annoying is he referral to the US as he is a foreigner. Why do we have someone hosting a US show who continually puts down America.

Steve, the GOP have made all kinds of outrageous, mean and blatantly false statements about Obama ever since he ran for Pres 4 years ago. Let me remind you: unAmerican, non-Christian, not an American citizen, liar, connected to Muslim terrorists. Need I go on?

Rick Santorum, Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney – these are good people who are patriots and sincerely want to fix America, the greatest nation on earth. Obama's 'bipartisan administration' as Rick calls it is a joke. The Democrats hate Obama. They know that he is nothing more than a rogue president. But the Democrats will say anything, even lie, to the American public if it means they can keep their cushy jobs. This is a fact.

Imagine if a Republican told an audience of African Americans that the Democrats wanted to put them back in chains? But Piers doesn't think that had any hints of racism?

Also, I can't take Piers or any of his liberal guests seriously – they attack and criticize Ryan's proposed budget and praise Obama's budget. Piers lets his liberal commentators off the hook by not even questioning them why Obama and the Democrat-led Senate have NOT even passed a budget in 3 years. Obama's proposed 'budget' would put us $1.5 Trillion more into debt in one year. Bottom line though is Obama and Congress are operating under a credit limit, not a budget. But of course Obama gets a pass on this.

This is what Erskine Bowles, co-chair of Obama's deficit budget committee had to say: " The President came out with his own plan and the President, as you remember, came out with a budget, and I don’t think anybody took that budget very seriously. The Senate voted against it 97 to nothing."

We would all appreciate if Piers took a stab at being a proper journalist and feigned some level of objectivity in US politics. It doesn't help the dialog; it just adds to the ill informed noise. The issues are so complex, why is he so simple.?pMakes me think I could do his job.

Unchained and unshackled are synonyms people. They mean the same thing. Check the dictionary. The Republicans, including Romney, Ryan, Boehner and others have said over and over and over that government regulations SHACKLE the economy and they will UNSHACKLE Wall Street if they get elected. So how is that different? Should people have been outraged when Republicans indicated people would be shackled? I guess so according to their whining now? They are throwing up every smokescreen possible to divert attention from Romney's taxes (which will not go away until the election), Romney's disastrous and embarassing trip to Europe, his lack of an ecomonic plan of his own ( is it Ryan's), how costly his budget would be, his fuzzy immigration plan, what social programs he will cut and what really is his stance on the wedge issues. His negative campaign now and especially during the primaries has been far worse than Pres. Obama's could ever be. Can't wait for the debates. They shoucl be really interesting.

Piers!!! CNN must have had a negative impact on you. I have only watched you on this channel and now I may stop. You are obviously very biased and unfair towards Ryan/Romney...I have always loved your intellect, wit and fair approach on the show....not sure if you are doing this for CNN to keep your job or not??? A nice middle of the road approach would
be nice so people aren't deceived by the media again on who they should vote for. Please cover the candidates fairly and the issues fairly. Medicare won't be around for me and my children if it isn't fixed and Obama has stolen from Medicare to try to provide Obamacare. Why aren't you covering their fear tactics?? Joe Biden's uneducated remarks??

If I see another show like this I will stop watching from now on and I LOVE your show...the only show I really watch!

A provision of ObamaCare is set to punish roughly two-thirds of U.S. hospitals evaluated by Medicare starting this fall over high readmission rates, according to an analysis by Kaiser Health News.

Starting in October, Medicare will reduce reimbursements to hospitals with high 30-day readmission rates – which refers to patients who return within a month – by as much as 1 percent. The maximum penalty increases to 2 percent the following year and 3 percent in 2014.

Why isn't MSDNC and CNN not reporting this!

obamacare is throwing the seniors and middle class under the bus!

    obama wants seniors to die!

There is no recovery. Dont let the numbers fool you... they have been cooked for a long time now. Obama has wrecked the economy and added over 5 trillion to the deficit with nothing to show for it. In the first two years he could have passed any bill he wanted but didnt even think about jobs. His "laser like" focus was on the golf course and lavish vacations while Americans lost their jobs. He is the biggest clown to ever sit in the Presidency... and he is done come November. I just hope there is something left to recover.
