On the heels of his controversial commentary centered around 'legitimate rape' rarely resulting in pregnancy, on Monday Representative Todd Akin was scheduled to join Piers Morgan live for a primetime interview.
However, after initially agreeing to appear, the Republican from Missouri cancelled, leaving the host with no choice but to interview an empty chair.
The circumstance drew tremendous attention throughout the world of social media, even spawning renewed interest in the twitter account "Akin's Empty Chair."
But how did the media world react to Morgan's epic one on none interview?
» Gawker noted that if Akin doesn't show up again it could result in "a fate worse than death."
» The New York Times applauded the show's ability to "make lemons out of lemonade."
» Politico paid particular attention to the host's word choice, specifically calling Akin a "gutless little twerp."
» Poynter crowned the infamous chair a "CNN Star."
» Slate joked that "Morgan never asked the swivel seat where it stood on 'legitimate rape' and/or abortion."
