Clips from Last Night: Gloria Allred, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Thomas Friedman on Todd Akin's controversial remarks

On Tuesday, attorney and rape survivor Gloria Allred returned to the show to talk about the recent remarks made by Rep. Todd Akin. "What he said was actually inaccurate and also very dangerous," said Allred. "Because he is suggesting or was suggesting that in fact a woman who is raped can't get pregnant, which we know is false."

"We cannot go back to those days when abortion was a crime in the United States," added Allred, a woman who herself was impregnated as a result of rape, and openly supports a woman's right to choose abortion. "And when many women died or were maimed by illegal abortions. And that is why what he did was very, very dangerous."

Joining Allred in the volatile segment was Rebecca Kiessling, the product of a rape, who vehemently took the opposing position:

"I was almost aborted. But I was legally protected here in Michigan at the time. Abortion was illegal even in cases of rape," she explained. "And so my birth mother was forced to carry me by law. And I owe my life to pro-life advocates legislators who saw that mine was a life worth saving."

Debbie Wasserman Schultz also joined the program to weigh in on how Akin's remarks and unwillingness to quit the Missouri senate race will affect the GOP. "They had a tough week," said Schultz regarding the Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan campaign adding that "week two is a little bit - even more tough."

"They issued their Republican Party platform that will be adopted at the convention next week," explained Schultz, that "fully embraces a human life amendment to the constitution with no exception for rape, incest or the life of the mother."

Meanwhile New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman called Akin's comments "despicable" and "outrageous" and applauded the GOP's efforts to banish Akin from the senate race.

Friedman noted that Akin's refusal to leave the race makes the congressman candidate a liability. "The fact that he is not dropping out, the fact that he co-sponsored legislation, you know, related to this issue with Congressman Ryan, I think is going to be a real ball and chain for the Romney-Ryan ticket with women and men in this country," Friedman said.

Watch the clips, and listen to the interviews, as Morgan's guests continue to bring their insights on Akin's controversial remarks.

Gloria Allred is a bully and Rebecca Kiessling barely got a word in. This has nothing to do with my opinion of the subject matter but just common courtesy. I was disappointed that Piers didn't intercede more to let Rebecca have her say. Not much moderating on this one Piers.

Subject: Piers Morgan – Abortion segment

    Dear Rebecca,

Wow! – I saw your segment on Piers Morgan tonight – and I would first like to say im sorry to hear about your story and how your mom was involved in such a horrific crime against woman. I would also like to say its great that you have the RIGHT to be pro life and have such strong feelings about abortion – enough to speak publicly or write books about it. The problem i have as a woman myself, is when i see people on programs, trying to convince the world that your way is the only way! Its like any other sensitive subject – we all have our opinions, not everyone is going to see eye to eye and thats what makes us all so different. We live in the 21st century and have fought long and hard to have the right to decide. Just be glad for the country we live in and that we have and should always have the right to choose.
If you don't like abortions – Don't get one!

    Thanks for listening,

Ms Kiesslings response: I'll take life over choice any day. I can live with life. Glad you're not suicidal. You must value life on some level.

Thank you Rebecca Kiessling for showing CNN that American Women are PRO LIFE; the way they report on this issue makes it sound like all American women are Pro choice: "Today President Obama spoke for women's right" NO!! It should be said "Today President Obama spoke for Pro choice women" Thank you Rebecca! American Women are also Pro Life CNN. Given this women a voice!!!

        Dear Belle,

Not sure what common sense comment has to do with the abortion issue but if everyone felt as you did abortion would not be legal in this country and the abortion rate would be non existent! It is a woman's right to choose and they dont have to answer to anyone but themselves.

Wonderful response. My response would have been, had you been aborted it wouldn't have mattered. It's a hard truth that the world wouldn't have know the difference and your mother would have had the right, ash she should have, to live her life the way she choose.

We all don't have to right to do what we want. A mother does not have the right to drown her children in the bathtub if she cannot handle them. A life is a life. People get wronged in so many ways in life, how does that make killing children of any age ok?

"The Raging Storm!" "Remember that one, Pierce? French Revolution, and I can't wait for the same to happen in England. Lizzie has done all she can to shove those kids out on the Media, but for all those wasted Millions, the English Pound will still go Euro, and he face will be stripped from the currency. Nowthe Idiot 'Harper' in Canada is hoping to promote Dizzi Lizzi to canada, but that won't work either. I don't give a dam about these (so called) scandels.
The Boils of Britain are about to be lanced once and for all."

I don't understand you people who are still talking about this issue. The guy made a serious mistake in the American public, and he came out aloud and clear in the American public and clearly asked for forgiveness. It seem as if you Morgan don'r understand what the forgiveness is. How many times have we seen Obama or Bidden ask for forgiveness in public? Bidden just disrespected African American, where is the media on this, especially when he did not even realized his mistakes and apologize. This election is not about abortion, I regret that Akin said those words to our well respected women, but let face it: Financial matters, Unemployment. Obama said that if he can't perform well, then don't vote for him.....do we see that on the media? Flip, flop, yes Obama is.

Obama must run on his record. His record proves what he is capable of – increased poverty, higher unemployment, unstable energy, higher cost of food, poorer education for our kids. Obama is great! He is the most accomplished al Qaeda leader in history!

There is no recovery. Dont let the numbers fool you... they have been cooked for a long time now. Obama has wrecked the economy and added over 5 trillion to the deficit with nothing to show for it. In the first two years he could have passed any bill he wanted but didnt even think about jobs. His "laser like" focus was on the golf course and lavish vacations while Americans lost their jobs. He is the biggest clown to ever sit in the Presidency... and he is done come November. I just hope there is something left to recover.

Piers..I don't know what world order brought you to the US, but you must go..I like your personality, but you are such a collectivist, a sociatist elite pleaser, dying to fit into the imposed NARRATIVE to justify the huge salary you could have never dreamed of at BBC or whererver....

Anderson did a great job pushing Wasserman on getting to the truth - she made such a fool of herself – and gave the democratic party such a black eye.

Bottom line is ... calling a spade a spade! You have Obamacare looming. You have taxes expiring. You have a president clearly anti business, anti free-enterprise, believes NO ONE accomplishes anything without Big Government. A president's whose favorite past time is stirring the class-envy pot, a president who won't budge one iota on development of natural resources, a president whose latest fans are the lunatic’s from Iran and Venezuela, a president clearly doing a rendition of Tricky Dick's ‘duck & cover’ for his Watergate buddies, a president who encourages the Fed to print worthless money further devaluing an anemic dollar,....

Don’t hold your breath people. This so-called recession is a slam-dunk to morph into a full-blown Depression if our Kenyan Socialist is re-elected.

You surely WILL get what you ask for!

    Barack Obama:
Alias Barry Soetoro pawns himself as Barack Obama, the humanitarian, the POTUS, the campaign for hope and change. But we know better. Barry is a radical Marxist who was raised by Communist parents and Communist grandparents. His mentors were known Communists, his contacts in college were strictly Marxists supporters, Marxist professors and a group of Pakistani activists as stated in his book, “Dreams from My Father”.

Barack Obama, tell us about Frank Marshall Davis or Bill Ayers. Surely you remember Mr. Davis. After all, your mother knew him all too well. Mr. Ayers, a known terrorist, responsible for at least a dozen bombings, helped your early Illinois campaign by raising money, thru his organization Underground Weather. Tell us about your trip to Pakistan (’81) with Pakistani Wahid Hamid.

Share with us your ideals of socialism; after all you’re a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), referred as the “New Party”. Please tell us why you have been influenced by the writings of Karl Marx, the prelude to Communism. Share with us your association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Do you justify this man’s message by condemning our country by saying, “God bless America? No, God Damn America?” Was this a forethought supporting your belief in Marxism?

Are these the individuals who have inspired you to public office? Are these the individuals who have inspired you to plot against the United States? Are they the people for whom you’ve entrusted your Muslim faith?

Please tell us why you mocked the Holy Bible and Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount”, calling the sermon a radical message. You have mocked Christianity and this country. Barack Obama, you have betrayed this nation and all its’ people. Your skin is dark because of your race, but your soul is darker because of your deception.

United States of America………………you didn’t build it Barack Obama.

There s no empire anymore, but all the the problems are still alive and kicking!"
