Clips from Last Night: Dan Rather on Romney and Obama's reaction to the unrest in Libya and Egypt; Robin Wright on Ambassador Chris Stevens

On Wednesday, Wolf Blitzer returned to the program as guest host, amidst the current unrest in the Middle East. Journalist Dan Rather joined Blitzer and weighed in on the reaction to the crisis from Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama:

"My personal opinion is this was a mistake by Governor Romney," said Rather regarding the presidential candidate's attack on the president's handling of the situation.

"Not that long ago, Wolf," continued Rather, "it was considered by both parties that when you had a situation like this, you didn't criticize, at least not immediately, the president, whether he was Democratic or Republican, whomever was in charge."

The anchor of "Dan Rather Reports," also criticized President Obama's decision to continue his campaign schedule at an event in Las Vegas Wednesday. "It may very well be a mistake by President Obama to continue campaigning," said Rather. "This is serious what's happening in the Middle East, and it will have serious consequences and reverberation for quite some time to come. Particularly in the case of Egypt."

Author Robin Wright also joined Blitzer and shared her feelings on the death of her friend J. Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya who was killed in the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. "He was a wonderful man who had a sense of the streets as well as the elites," said Wright.

"Despite the security restrictions that limit so many diplomats, he was always willing to go out. And he saw Libya through three - all three transition phases. Two years under Moammar Gadhafi, then as the liaison chief in Benghazi for a year and then as ambassador to Tripoli."

Watch the clips, and listen to the interviews, as Wright talks about how Stevens would have wanted his killers brought to justice.

Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb and other rabbis who oppose Israel's occupation are under attack by right-wing extremists like Bill Kristol and Sheldon Adelson.

In less than 24 hours, we have collected the names of 5,000 signers for our print ads to counter vicious hate-ads published this week by the Sheldon Adelson-backed Republican Jewish Coalition. (You can see the full text of our ad below.)

Now we want to double that number to 10,000 supporters.

Can you forward this email to 3 friends right away?  They can click here to show support for the ad:

Bill Kristol, Sheldon Adelson, and their cohort can only win if we stay quiet.  When we stand together, we have them outnumbered.

We need at least 10,000 people support our message— NO to bullying. NO to demonization of peace-makers.  And YES to peace, equality and justice.

The press/media is not doing it's job.
The president has been missing almost 1/2 of the security daily briefings! If the president feels we still must be cautious
and we are still under threat, why isn't he taking the daily briefings more seriously?
Also, Amb. Stevens was missing for over 6 hours......while the president SLEPT!
I feel the attacks on the Romney statements are a deflection motivated by the White House.

Media has become nothing more than a witch hunt. It's run by the same group of chosen people that run the banks, press, lobby, goverment regardless of the party. We do not need to be told every thing. Let the president do his job. We need to step back and help him as Americans but what are we doing is fighting about political parties? Our country is at war with more that half the world because of our stupidity. No, President of United States can please Americans, we first have to bow to the Chosen Lobby and take orders from Israil. In three years our country will be bankrupt why is the media not concerned about this ? Stop all this bickering..... Help your president as long as he is in office instead of lyinching the poor man. Why does the media not go after Bush ? He got our country into this mess. Why is not seen as a war criminal ? Our service men and woman were killed, we killed millions of innocent people becaused one man single handed goofed and lied ! Our country is bleeding love it first and not the parties.
