Josh Romney on "New Girl" character "Tugg": "We took a vote ... that guy looks like more fun"

With the second presidential debate now roughly 24 hours away, this evening "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomes four of the five sons of Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

Joined face to face by Craig, Tagg, Josh, and Matt Romney, Piers Morgan plays a video clip of FOX's "New Girl," during which a fictitious Romney brother – "Tugg" – is introduced.

"We took a vote, we want to replace him," says Josh Romney of his real brother Tagg. "That guy ["Tugg"] looks like more fun."

As their father has recently enjoyed a boost in the national polls, Morgan asks his guests if they've begun to entertain the idea of moving into the White House.

"To borrow a sports cliche, we're taking it one day at a time," insists Craig Romney. "We honestly are."

In decisively outperforming Barack Obama in the first debate, Tagg says America finally got a good look at a man he thinks is suited to lead the nation:

"All of us have been on the trail a lot the last couple weeks, and there was a dramatic uptick in enthusiasm, as people got to see who the real Mitt Romney is, and see how good of a person he is."

As inside information points to the incumbent adopting an intensified, more combative approach for Tuesday's event, Matt expects his father to be ready:

"My dad's very good. He's got an incredible intellect. He's has great principles, he knows his ideas. He's been prepared, we were tough as teenagers, but really, he'll do a good job. I think it's going to be a good debate. I think my dad is certainly someone who's very witty and intelligent."

Watch the clip, and listen to the interview, then tune in at 9 to hear how the Romney brothers react when compared to "New Direction" and described as a "political boy band."

Im curious when piers mentioned how apple could take a hit and bring back jobs to america that he didnt ask martha the same as she was a little business and now all her products are made over seas by cheap labor, So asking insider prison martha for a soultion is like asking bernie madoff with all the cash like martha has been doing aswell.

Piers, you really should have decided not to have had Martha Stewart on your show tonight. The entire interview reeked of hypocrisy. Do you not know that her products are all made in china. "Somethings clearly gone fundamentally wrong with the american business model?" was your question, and she has the audacity to sit there on your show and say that it's because manufacuring went where labor was cheap, plentiful, and there were hard workers. Well there are plenty of hard workers here so that takes care of the last 2 problems so the real problem for all those rich people ("job creators") is the CHEAP part. That is the problem with the american business model. Why only make 20c on the dollar when we can ship jobs over seas and make 80c on the dollar. "Greed" Martha Stewart is hooked on it and it is disgusting to have her host anything called American Made!

What a ridiculous interview of these "boys" piers has been drooling over the romney family in every interview he has done with them-I think he has the hots for ann-all mormons give 10%-that is nothing out of the ordinary-so that does not make romney "principled" I guess romenys chuch can tax him but not his country? Piers why don't you stfu-WOMEN loved Biden We don't want to go back to having our rights taken away-why don't you go back to England-couldn't get on TV there? You are a very egotistical-biased-ignorant interviewer-The way you fawned over the romney boys was putrid-as are you!

Wow Jody...what a vitriolic rant. Mitt Romney's sons are actually quite charming. I enjoyed seeing Piers' interview. It was fun, upbeat and entertaining. There's something refreshing about seeing people with differing points of view actually getting along and laughing together without spewing hate and getting contentious. It is beyond me how a person could watch the exchange between Piers and the Romney sons, as jovial as it was, and not appreciate the good will in it!

        Hello Folks,
You all voted Obama in 2008 to help you get rid of the mess of the Bush years, Dubya left you lot with so much mess that for a few decades to come u would still be asking yourselves how y'all got into the type of mess you are in. Romney IMHO offers you the opportunity of having it much worse in years to come while BO offers you a way out with a human face attached to his modalities of his solutions.
Mitt has always been a rich guy and his lack of sensitivity and human touch are not in any way in doubt, such ruthlessness visited on a recovering economy would only lead to further misery amongst its populace. My experience of the american voters is that they seem not to weigh issues properly before casting their votes a good pointer to this is the election of George bush for a second time which finally, almost killed your economy!
If you want a rapid total collapse of your economy and way of life Mitt Romney is definitely your man, he would fight Iran(not any easy war!Guaranteed) and maybe look for some more wars elsewhere.
Mitt would say anything to be in office and I guess once there those 12million jobs he is promising would then be seen for what it is ie a really bad joke!

Its intresting how the Obamamites try and spin the big pic of the past as if its all Bush, Like they werent there screwing things and had no hand in it. Lets not forget who layed the seed for everyone to be able to own a home (even if they couldnt afford it) and who signed free trade ITS BILL CLINTON (guess what Bush wasent in office yet) and after Bush took office we had madam Pelosi since 2006 that took lead of the colaspse and then theres the frank/dobb doonboogle and frank said the housing market was strong just months before it fell apart. So was this all Bush or did the Democrates have a hand in it. So dont ask me to buy the evil Romney that dosent care for the poor when he gives far more than those that are bashing him and saying he dosent care (actions speak louder than words) and all we hear out of Obama is words as I havent heard his plan for the next 4 years and I dont like what hes adding to the deficit and his give me a phone line mentallity in running the country instead of hands on and actually meeting with leaders when there here in our country. (thats your job Mr President)

I do agree that Romney gives back to the poor. However there is a very good chance that his Pioneer status in the outsourcing arena, might have contributed to making those folks poor in the first place. There is an illinois company going through Romney's trade mark business outsourcing process at the moment. Steve America would only be prosperous if the jobs of her folks are not exported outside the country ,so that the 1% could continue to live in opulence. Romney ,wants to make folks receive interest on their savings free of tax and also ensure that no capital gains are levied on them, pls ask yourself, in the hard times currently faced by America, how many folks have such huge savings to benefit from or how many of those folks have so much capital gains that they would want to avoid paying taxes on? not many!
This is just another attempt to further enrich the already rich. Whatever gap that needs to be made up to close up the deficit would then be raised in revenue by taxing the living daylight outta the poor folks. Its time to wake up Americans!

Poor folks don't pay taxes. What you are saying makes no sense...the wealthy CREATE JOBS for the poor folks and the middle class. Our only hope is to put a successful businessman in the White House and not a community organizer has never even ran a lemonade stand.

Believe me everything has went downhill the last four years, there have been so many healthcare cuts its unreal and the people who can't get the healthcare is very sad and Oboma hasn't helped, other than cutting medicare and medicaid and putting it to a program that the govermen wants so they can tell you what care you can and cannot have. If you want jobs to stay here then politicians need to make it harder to do business outside of the country and more profitable here or your just barking in the wind and if the country wants toget out from under this debt then I say sell off some of the nearly 60% of this country the feds own of our property and pay this debt off instead of it setting idle and non productive.

I am sure Romney is a fine person, as are his family, wife and sons.. we are not voting on this premis however. I have nothing against him, truly; However, his vision is completely in opposition to what America needs at this critical juncture. I will not vote for him today or ever. I specifically am furious over you PIERS; for your obvious partisan dialogue .. No one cares what you think! You are not American. You can never understand the American experience. It is not YOUR JOB to interject your views; It is to put forth apposing views and let the veiwers decide on what they like or not. I am no longer watching your show.. that I viewed religiously up to now. I did not today, and I have advised all my friends to do so, until I hear you are doing your JOB better.

Asking hard questions is good, and frankly sometimes you do it well.. but YOUR PERSONAL OPINION is not wanted. You have talent but you are not using it wisely. I will not watch another show.. not sure you care but I started today..until I hear you are acting in a non-partisan way, and are examining all issues as such. Romney's sons comments regarding womens rights last night were unbeleivable. "If America is a trillion dollars in debt then a womans right to choose, receive cancer screenings, birth control , etc. really don't matter". I am sure his sons know his real stand on issues. What does this say about Romneys real agenda and not the what he is trying to sell women all over America We need to open our eyes and see who the real Mitt Romney is, not the one who says he supports women's rights but has no intention of following thru with those promises once he is elected.

The Piers Morgan show as I know it is a fair one with a fair guy in charge . While Romney's kids were on show Piers, you should have at least ask them whether its ok in their family to always make racially insensitive comments about people from America who are non whites. First it was one of Mitt's sons who said Obama should be asked to produce his birth certificate , next surprise, surprise it was Mitt the head of the family who cracked a similar joke on the campaign trail in Michigan. For someone who wants to be President of America , his standards imho are quite low and he is undeserving of that office, everything about him seems to be about the division of the American populace , be it on the basis of colour or taxation or whatever he feels would grease his way into office.
For someone who was a religious leader in his church who understands the teachings of the christian faith should not go around with evidence of racial discrimination about his persona. Some might want to argue though that mormons are not christians, I don't see them as non christians hence my expectation that Mitt conform to the norms of christianity!

People on here talk about Romney dividing the country and I find that to be a big joke. Romney isn't president yet and under Obama this country is more divided then ever. Divided among black and white, divided among rich and poor. I have never seen race relations so tense in my lifetime. We need a good honest leader like Romney to get this country back. I am tired of this admin. Telling us how to run our lives when they can't even run the White House, the economy or most recently foreign relations. I am sick of their lies and their Chicago politics.

Totally agree. Piers IS definitely Republican. The tone of his show is obvious. I liked his shows when he first started, but now I have the urge to change channels when he comes on, and this is because of his bias and his need to lecture others for their wrongdoings.

If your father is so "good", how come he's enthusiastic about warfare but doesn't support it in blood (he's a draft dodger) or money (he's a tax evader), and neither do any of you sons? Sorry, I don't admire religious hypocrites who send others to die to protect their priveleged positions in this country, while they strip the poor in this country of life-support, and call that "patriotism".

All fat cats and political cronys are service dodgers, Find a creditable argument that you have a leg to stand on, Why didnt obama serve, clinton, we can go on forever but then this is a no brainer. Each side has draft dodgers. You want privileged how about obama is worth 12 million now and only 3 million when he took office, Not bad for a poor honest black boy.

How did you like the lie Obama gave about Libya? Candy crowley admitted she was Wrong on CNN after the debate. He lied about his energy policy, and on and on again. Time for a change with a real leader like mitt romney.

Our troops in Afghanistan could use a break right now to spend time with their family. How bout you young strong healthy boys enlist and do your civil duty? When Reagan was President I had to sign up for selective service in order to get a pell grant which I paid after graduating from college. Its about time Robmoney boys sign up for something other than learning how to skii and indulge in aristocrat activities.

Sense its the law that everyone register with selective services when 18 can you show me the proof that romneys kids did not or do you just want them to inlist which no one is required to do?

a win is a win 47% -39% is a6 points lead. even if the poll shows obama leading by 1 point. it is still a win. I don't understand why you guys are take the fact that obama won. when obama lost the first debate, we did not make any excuses. he lost bottom. with the second debate mit lost.and that is a fact. say it loud obama won! say it loud obama won. and say it loud mitt lost bottom line

Obama did not win...they are saying it was a draw. Each side calls it a victory.if you are truly unbiased, it was a draw.

Well a gallop pole came out in the last hour and shows: Forget the 47%. Wednesday’s key number is 51%. That’s Mitt Romney’s support among likely voters in the latest seven-day rolling average of Gallup polling. Romney beats President Obama by six points in the latest showing…So it appears that the pundents are wrong again.

The ghastly thing about seeing these Romney men on television is that people treat them as if they were children who you cant ask a cruel question too.
One way to judge people, that I think is probably a pretty good one, is do they empower others and bring them to realise their full potential or do they subtly undermine others? Obama whose debates I dont much enjoy, mind you there was a bit of sadistic fun in seing how cross Romney started to get last night, I have not seen the whole debate yet; Obama, empowers people, look at how well MIichelle is doing and Hilary seems to be much better than she was before she took office under him, more confident and a better speaker and more able to afford stretching a hand out to others, to afford a bit of, nobless oblige while looking very comfortable about it, while these four boys seem like children. It would be better not to vote for Romney, he will turn the country into children, from the look of things up to know he is maybe too paternalistic, those in his care dont flourish.
These men have blue eyes and brown hair, Romney chose Ryan because he looked like his sons.
I am just throwing all this out, of course how journalists treat Romneys sons may not be a true marker of how they are, however, wolfish as they might actually be, they do nohting to stop peoplle treating them like ten yera olds, so either that is their disguise or their impotence is pa0rt of them. rose macaskie madrid.

The Romney boys all look like if you pulled down their pants, they'd be smooth in the front–I'm just saying.

Also, none of them have worked a day in their lives (unless you count campaigning for their dad work). They are trust fund boys, and even more weird and suspect is that they all live in the same big house together with the whole family–the Branch Dividian Romney Compound.

I agree a lot of people seem jealous of success. More power to these successful young men, and more power to Romney for being such a smart, successful businessman and leader.
