READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
Coming up soon, "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomes one of the most iconic and well-respected musicians in the history of the industry, 10-time Grammy Award winner Willie Nelson.
As host Piers Morgan rolls out the red carpet for the author of "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die," the primetime exclusive interview touches upon one of Wilson's well-known favorite pastimes, smoking marijuana.
"I've got to ask you the question, have you come similarly infused today?" asks Morgan, wondering if Nelson arrived at his studio amidst his traditional herbal haze. "Did you wake up this morning and have a quick, you know, a puff?"
"I probably did," admits the guest. "If I remember. It's, you know, that short-term stuff."
Elaborating on his exploits, the 79-year-old with more than 60 studio albums to his credit reveals a seemingly unlikely character to be one of his frequent smoking buddies:
"You know, me and Snoop smoke a lot," says Nelson, talking about well-known hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg, aka Calvin Broadus. "I was in Amsterdam one time and Snoop called me and wanted me to sing on his record. And I said, 'OK.' He said, 'Where are you?' And I said, 'I'm in Amsterdam.' So he caught the next plane and come over. And we recorded a song together."
Referencing recent legislation that has legalized marijuana in certain parts of the United States, Nelson notes that such long-distance travel would no longer be required:
"Now, we can go to Colorado."
Stay tuned for scheduling details of the full interview with the father of seven, and four-time husband, whose career has spanned six decades.

Willie Nelson should move to Colorado until his home state legalizes it. It would send a substantial message to the states behind the curve.
Actually, Willie used to have a home here in Colorado until the feds took it and sold it off for back taxes. That's ok though we would welcome him back as a native son and Texas can continue to take the lead in the "War on Drugs". Something very poetic about all this.
Who cares if he smokes pot or not.... The people or Gaza are dying by Israel.
Who cares let them die and fight and kill each other keep it over there that's all. We have better things domestic wise that need to work on health care immigration war on drugs tackle these issue and then maybe we can shed some help to others
You can still be killed in your own home here by swat teams over this silly prohibition issue. Swat protocol still requires serving warrants by force in the middle of the night, for a schedule 1 substance, and anything that moves (even defensles animals acting out of fear) must be shot to keep the officers safe. We are still not safe in our own homes in this country either. Hope you don't have a cold when you get raided and accidentally sneeze at the wrong time. Hope they get the right house and you don't freak out and try to protect you home out of fear and get "justified" in the process. They just say oops wrong house, we had to shoot...sorry.
A bus blew up today in the biggest city in Israel, killing 11 people...
Why are you so one-sided about this? innocent people died...
You seem to have missed that this is abot Willie Nelson. You know The Willie Nelson.
As a caregiver for 34 years I can say in all honesty that I see what "legal"meds do to a persons body. God put certain herbs and plants here for us to use in the natural state. Its past time to put this right and move forward as a prosperous nation.
Who cares if pot is illegal? Not pot smokers, that's for sure. Millions of people smoke pot every day all around the world. And excuse me for being blunt, but only the "lesser intelligent" smokers have to worry about it being illegal. I smoked pot for 30 years and never ever had a problem with the law. I didn't sit on the court house steps smoking a bong. I minded my own business and didn't make a fool of myself.
People who grow or sell pot don't want pot legalized either. There was an initiative similar to the one in Colorado on the ballot here in California and it did not pass. Why? Because there is a lot of money made because it is illegal, and none of the people making that money wanted to lose it. Regardless of which side of the law people are on, everyone from small time growers to multi-million dollar operations, local cops to the federal agencies participating in the Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (also known as CAMP), to state or federally owned prisons that are operated by for profit corporations and are over populated with small time pot smokers, there's millions of dollars made every day. The government makes a ton of money going after pot growers who are making a ton of money.
i grew up in a neighborhood where we were introduced to pot in second grade, dropped out by seventh and ended up prego or in jail by 18, i was fortunate enough to move out in ninth grade, but i have done my share of pot smoking among other things and I can tell you the only problem i have with it now is that i must go into the "underworld" in order to score some of it, i love pot, other drugs are illegal for good reasons, but one should only smoke the stuff at certain times right...someone who smokes pot every day is unhealthy, just like an alcoholic, pot use should be allowed but people should only use on occasion
waiting to see if this passes
Does this give new meaning to the John Denver song, "Rocky Mountain High, Colorado"
Free Marc Emery!
I am with Willie, lets go to Colorado and sing Rocky Mountain High as we toke on the greener grounds. The fed is a wicked and evil organization we need to crush I think, we as in us these people of the USA. States who rally to the fed can live under their abuse but I rally for states that defy them and cast them apart, can we cede the union ? I do in my part regardless of what they say. I am on the side of all who fight them and against all who support them through God I am such a force because I am his beast I am.
I have been using Cannabis for over 20 years and I truly do not understand why someone would arrest me since I have been using the herb as a Medicine. I use it for Colds, aches and especially having 17 strokes with 1 being a major Stroke yet I can still walk I can still talk and nothing was damaged except for my left leg which drags slightly. If Cannabis was not available I would have died and left my 13 year old daughter behind in this world. I do not use it with my daughter around but she knows that I would have been gone a long time ago. We need to legalize it everywhere so no matter where I go it will be available to me as a continuing medical neccesity. Let's wake up and for those that fear it for the Police maybe right outside my door guess what? I do not fear lets get this finally legal to use so that we can also free those who have been incacerated for such a silly law. God blessed this herb for us to use it is safer than water READ THE FACTS FOLKS. N Get a Grip AMERICA WE CANNOT CONTINUE THIS IDDIOCY.
In the USA why is cannabis considered a 'Class 1' drug? One which has no medical use.Try telling that to the millions of people worldwide who get pain relief & a far better quality of life because of it.Chemotherapy is a horrible form of treatment, but pot helps make it tolerable.
now we can stop having to deal with criminals in order to feel good and get a bag, i don't even drink alcohol because it is horrible for the body, but i love to smoke pot (at the right time), too much of anything is not a good thing, the problem with weed is that you have a population of young people who try it and because it is illegal they become antisocial, antigovernment, gangsters, ect...kids won't try cocaine or meth as a first time illegal drug because they know from their parents how bad the stuff is but pot, well it's not the worst thing just wait until college, but if it becomes legal, you have a young population that uses just another substance on the same level as alcohol, no antisocial, no antigovernment, no gangster, ect....
pot is a gateway drug simply because there comes a time when you can't score a bag of green but other stuff is around and by the time that point comes you are already antisocial counterculture
Pot is not a gateway drug most people start with cigarets and alcohole, it is verry rare to smoke weed without having even smoked a cigaret or had a beer, and yes those are drugs, just legal drugs.
or your dealer may offer you something strongeR?
i would rather they get rid of assault weapons and allow pot, if we need them the guard can give us one when the time comes
The National Guard is more in the habit of relieving you of your firearms "when the time comes." Just look at the Katrina aftermath. Also, "assault weapons" is a term invented by politicians to make you more scared of an black and scary AR-15 than a wood-stocked Ruger Mini-14, despite the fact that they are darn near functionally identical.
That being said, I think we should allow both. I should be free to arm myself as I wish, and you should be free to smoke to your heart's content.
Sublime to the ridiculous.Armed to the teeth & stoned out of your tree! Imagine if we all tried that? Me? I'll stick to skinning-up & sticking flowers down the barrel of every gun I see!!!
Please don't. I'm not sure if my SKS is allergic, and I'd rather it not sneeze at you.
Any responsible gun owner recognizes that you do not handle a firearm while under the influence of any mind-altering substance, be it alcohol, pot, or anything else. Your argument assumes that people aren't responsible enough to handle personal freedoms, and is the rallying cry for a nanny state. I believe in personal responsibility, which allows freedoms to those responsible enough to handle them.
Remember, your freedoms to engage in nude firearm flower arranging were won and are preserved on the barrels of civilian owned firearms.
Telsa no civilian firearms won me any freedoms,You assume I'm American,I'm British & we have a different take on things over here.Democracy works in many ways-the public gets what the public wants. If you don't vote you can't complain.Of course most gun owners are entirely responsible people,as are,in my opinion most pot smokers. All it takes is a lone nut job.
I agree with most of what you say,we Brits like to introduce a bit of irony into the conversation! Three cheers for the USA-Brit alliance
Ah, both nationality and irony/sarcasm can be hard to catch in text. Good show, old boy.
That said, I do have a related question... didn't British civilians take up arms in blitzed London during World War 2? I don't believe they were in the front lines, but I seem to remember the idea of a homefront defense being popular. Correct me if I'm wrong, though, please.
You are right,up to a point. It was called the Home Guard, but to describe them as armed would be way off the mark. They had no automatic weapons at all. They had no revolvers/pistols.They had maybe 1 First World War rifle between 3 of them. They had pitchforks,broom-handles with kitchen knives taped to one end! They were mostly old men & young boys too young to fight & guys like my Grandfather who was a coal miner & these men were considered vital to the war effort,He was in his late 40s by then so he was considered too old to fight anyway. When he wasn't 2 miles beneath Mother Earth hacking coal,he was manning the barricades waiting for the siren to go-thank God it never came.Hard men doing their bit for their families & their country. Just like the miners in West Virginia!
Neat! I appreciate the history. I must add something though (little bit of nitpicking)...
Revolvers and pistols were usually reserved for officers and police at the time, even in the United States. Shotguns and rifles would have been more popular for civilians. Also, the British World War 1 service rifle was the Lee-Enfield Mk III, which was also the British World War 2 service rifle.
I suppose they didn't fight. But if it had come down to it, they would have done so valiantly, I'm sure.
You are correct my friend.Handguns have always been the weapons reserved for officers, they usually had a cane in the other hand.Wouldn't want to face a Nazi machine gun nest without my cane! Lee-Enfield eh? the choice of the British Army, they used to jam just when you needed them most or so I'm told,I'm no expert. My Father-in-Law was at Normandy,Bloody Omaha & all that, except he was Sword beach. Not as bad as Omaha but bad enough. He was a morse-code operator.Imagine that, trying to send & receive messages while Johnny Foreigner is trying to blast the hell out of you?He told me he was lying flat on the sand while machine-gun bullets raked the sand a foot from his face.Heros to a man,on both sides that day.Sorry man I'm old & I ramble on sometimes!
Legal but not COMERSALIZED , That is a tall order , Its a plant / produce I would like to be able to get it at any farmers market ( with ID of course !
I do not even know how I stopped up here, however I believed this post used to be good. I don't realize who you are but certainly you're going to a well-known blogger in case you aren't already. Cheers!
