Creatures and critters galore visited the "Piers Morgan Tonight" studios over the Thanksgiving holiday, compliments of Jack Hanna, Director Emeritus of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
Among the parade of exotic animals that shared the set with Piers Morgan was an adult cheetah, the fastest land mammal. According to Hanna, the cheetah "goes 70 miles an hour. So when you're in your car going 65, in all seriousness, we clocked him at 70."
Morgan did his best to contain his composure over the gorgeous though potentially dangerous cat with eyesight so "impeccable" that at "two miles it can spot a little rabbit."
"This is the first time I really felt quite intimidated," remarked Morgan. "This is a big beast."
A reassuring Hanna tried to assuage Morgan's fears by responding, "Yes, I'm here, don't worry," but then recanted, "Well, maybe you should worry."
"This [cheetah] would kill, basically in the wild," said Hannah. "It has to grab the throat and do the choke hold. Once they do that, they're just sitting there about five to 10 minutes."
Watch the clip, and listen to the interview, to find out who will win a race, the cheetah or Olympic sprinter, Usain Bolt.

Most anchors disappoint me when interviewing self-appointed "business experts" from the extreme "supply-side" neo-conservatives, like Mr. Norquist, as well as the business expert featured this evening. My disappointment comes from the lack of knowledge shown by most of hosts. (I hope ignorance, about the subject matter, is the only reason for their feeble questioning.) The lady expert tonight was using the long decrepit argument against tax increases on the "job-creators" shielding her argument in a fabricated ratio between GDP and percentage of tax increase. Mr. Morgan never ask the so called expert to explain further the basis of the obscure equation, allowing her to get away with murder like most other interviewers do. Morgan timidly mentioned Mr. Buffet’s commentaries today flatly negating all credibility to arguments like the one used by his guest tonight. The fake expert was allowed by softy Mr. Morgan to ruthlessly ignore the request to debate the opinion of a true business genius with the most solid record in the history of American business, and end the segment with once more repeating her misleading propaganda. Successful business managers base their HIRING, or any personnel decisions almost EXCLUSEVELY on inventory reports and pace of new orders. Tax increases OR tax relief has absolutely no bearing on sound management decisions about hiring or firing personnel. If a CEO gets notice of a sudden increase in new orders, he won’t risk being cough with his pants down. After consulting with his close advisers, he/she will ASAP order start interviewing applicants, even if his personal and/or business tax bracket doubles overnight. My question is: Is it really lack of knowledge on the part of the Host or is it that the line of questioning is sort of "limited", in order to allow these, bozos from the far right, to get away with murdering reality?
Piers appeared to be quite the sissy when Jack Hanna and his animals visited on a recent show. He was almost flinching when an animal would look his way and he refused to pet any of the animals, even though they were fully restrained and on their best behaviour. Many of us would pay for the opportunity to be near or touch some of those beautiful wild creatures. I hope Piers never gets lost in the woods, he'd probably have a fear induced cardiac at the sound of an hooting owl.
Piers Morgan is as afraid of animals as he is of gun owners.... and as unfriendly to their kind as he is to the human species. Not surprised either.
Cheetah's are NOT man-eaters. Even in the wild, they show no aggression towards man. For one thing, people are not small, fast-running animals. Piers is ridiculous.
Jack Hanna, as always, was a gentleman and professional. I bet he and his staff had a good laugh at
Pierce Morgans expense back at the hotel. I can't figure out why he even had the animals on the show when he clearly was petrified of them, I mean REALLY? Scared of a lemur? Jack needs to stick with Dave Letterman who appreciates the privelidge of such opportunities to handle these glorious creatures.
You said it.
so, whats your point. I call it low, sort of like where it comes from. Your judgement is hollow.
The POINT is that Peirs is a weak and ineffectual person, like most people (Liberals) who want to do away with the Second Amendment. It was not the weaklings of this country who founded it, even back then there was a sizable percentage of Americans, like you and your kind (liberals/ socialists, radicals/progressives, irrationally emotional), who wanted to be soft on their British rulers, meaning they did not have the guts to stand up to them. Your reply to ninaFurr's comments were totally wrong.
Jack Hanna is a Star that does not really help the Wild Life of the World.
He did not help when that crazy man let all the animals loose he didn't say stop killing the animals that were let loose by a crazy man. He is not at all what anyone thinks! He is a Hollywood Star. Not a Protector of Creatures of our Planet!
Says a lot about his character. I'm not the least bit surprised .... considering.
Instead of questioning our 2nd amendment right ,given to us by our Founding Fathers. Why don't you return to your country of origin , where I'm sure everything is perfect and you had to leave to make your living in our country.
You Americans are shooting each other in the back of the head. Alll you need now is a ruler a dictator a sick republican or a whole lot of Jones and hee....haw me me mememe ...............................................................................................................................................
Chris, your remark was totally incomprehensible.
This is a win, win suggestion. Let the NRA sell their weapons of mass slaughter but regulate it's bullets. If a assault rifle owner does not meet the requirements of purchasing fully charged ammunition then all they get is target practice bullets, less grains and less lethal.
el don Rodrigo, the NRA does not SELL guns. Get your facts straight. People with a lack of knowledge should keep their opinions to themselves so they don't run the risk of exposing their foolishness.
Hello Piers Morgan I'm sure you read these comments. Please do a report on how you were fired as editor of the Daily Mirror for publishing fake photographs.
Hanna is misinformed. Fishing cats are the OTHER wild cat with non retractable claws.
I just love the animal interviews you do with Mr. Hanna. You are very brave! Hope you can do more of these. I think it
really brings up the level of environmental awareness for many people. The children probably love it. The animals are
just beautiful. Thanks again.
The rose colored glasses you were looking through when you watched the program were too heavily tinted.
Really liked this show. Saw animals I never knew existed. Well done mr. Hanna and crew.
Please, oh please, CNN, get rid of Peirce Morgan. He is such an effeminate fop.
I enjoyed seeing the exotic animals that Jack Hanna brought onto your show.
Please do NOT get rid of Piers Morgan! We need a straight shooter like him. He has the guts to say what most people are only thinking. It's the best thing on CNN, in my opinion. And those who are crying about having their so-called Second Amendment "rights" taken away from them don't seem to hesitate about taking his First Amendment right away from him! Such stunning hypocrisy should not be rewarded. KEEP PIERS!
It always amazes me about what people say about what THEY think that "most people" are thinking despite the evidence. Judging from the number of of posts against Peirs as compared to being for him, I would say that you, Margie Garrett, are in denial as to the facts. Then you go into disparaging all of the people who have exercised their First Amendment rights saying they are hypocrites not realizing that asking for the removal of a bully from CNN does not deprive him of his First Amendment rights to speak about anything he wants to but only deprives him of a position of power that few of us have. You are wrong on both accounts Ms. Garrett.
I used to enjoy Larry King on CNN because he would not come forth spewing a few obscure facts about a topic and then attack one side or another which he personally disagreed with. Piers Morgan on the other hand seems more intent on making known his personal beliefs and insisting his viewers follow them. Piers is not a great interviewer, he is an antagonist who is allowed by CNN to continue spewing his rehtoric while seemingly feeling he is the hotest thing on the planet. Piers leaves me with a distinct impression his greatest and most admirable person in the world is himself.
This is not the kind of commenatary we wish to view on CNN or any other media outlet. Please get smart and replace Piers with someone who is more like Larry King.
I lost all respect for Jack Hanna when he bec ame the PR front-man for the unwarranted slaughter of 49 exotic animals in Zanesville, Ohio.
Piers Morgan doesn't deserve the honor of being in the presence of Jack Hanna and that beautiful animal. It's disgraceful for a man like Morgan who is of such low character and class to be featured with that magnificent Cheetah.
Is a cheetah faster than Usain Bolt? Is Piers Morgan innumerate?
Piers – I'm from the Province of Ontario, Canada and watch your show from time time. I understand through an NBC news bulletin that an assualt weapon was not used at the Sandy Hook school shootings and that 4 handguns were used. I have watched CNN a few times over the last couple days and heard nothing of this. Is this true? Perhaps you have made mention of this and I am not aware of same.
I bring it to your attention that possession of a number assault weapons are legal here in Canada – can only hold 5 shells at one time and barrel length can be no less than 18.5 inches to make it a non-restricted firearm. The 308 or 30-06 semi auto hunting rifles actually have alot more punch than say an AR-15 and most other assault weapons. Some assualt weapons are used for hunting deer and small game. They don't pack enough punch to bring down a moose. However the semi – auto 308 or 30-06 (regular hunting rifles) pack far more punch and can be used for hunting large game such as moose. If I were to get shot by someone (which I hope never happens) I would hope that it would be from the small calibre assault rifle rather than a semi- auto 308 or 30-06 hunting rifle (as they pack a killing punch and the bullets mushroom with high impact when they enter a body). Just thought that I would provide you a few comments from a gun owning person up in Canada. I have hunted siince I was 15 years old and hunting goes away back in my family ancesorty. My three sons are also avid hunters.
We don't seem to have quite the same problems up here (hope we don't in the future). Perhaps a different mentality.
Would be great to hear from you.

every one has the right to bear arms, myself i prefer garlic.
Interesting read. Any of these second amendment enthusiasts ever heard of Mahatma Gandhi? Using Non Violence as a weapon–a somewhat intellectual stretch for a lot here–Indians threw out the British. It takes less of a sissy to stand up to a gun or weapon toting bully when you have no means of self defense, or choose to not use any methods of self defense. To those who need assault weapons to hunt. Why hunt? Why kill animals who have done you no harm? No supermarkets which sell food? Or do you need to fulfill that primal, neanderthal urge to kill to eat? If there were no guns all over the place, and only one gun, a non assault one, was allowed per person, it would reduce, mark my words, mass shootings.
Gandhi's philosophy dealt with oppression and injustice, not with how to deal with a crazed gunman. You will be able to better understand this if you read the following, which is a quote from the website http://www.markshep.com/peace/Myths.html , "I’m afraid Gandhi himself helped create this confusion by referring to his method at first as “passive resistance,” because it was in some ways like techniques bearing that label. But he soon changed his mind and rejected the term.
Gandhi’s nonviolent action was not an evasive strategy nor a defensive one. Gandhi was always on the offensive. He believed in confronting his opponents aggressively, in such a way that they could not avoid dealing with him.
But wasn’t Gandhi’s nonviolent action designed to avoid violence? Yes and no. Gandhi steadfastly avoided violence toward his opponents. He did not avoid violence toward himself or his followers.
Gandhi said that the nonviolent activist, like any soldier, had to be ready to die for the cause. And in fact, during India’s struggle for independence, hundreds of Indians were killed by the British.
The difference was that the nonviolent activist, while willing to die, was never willing to kill.
Gandhi pointed out three possible responses to oppression and injustice. One he described as the coward’s way: to accept the wrong or run away from it. The second option was to stand and fight by force of arms. Gandhi said this was better than acceptance or running away.
But the third way, he said, was best of all and required the most courage: to stand and fight solely by nonviolent means." To decide not to do anything against a gun wielding thug is taking the coward'c course. The only correct course to take is to be prepared to end the violence with decisive force. In such a situation one does not have the opportunity to stand up against the madman or criminal in any other way. Your position is not rational.
Being petrified of animals that hunt and kill in the wild is nothing to be ashamed of when you've grown up in Britain, where basically nothing at all is lethal. Love cats here, so probably wouldn't be able to keep my hands off a Cheetah.
Hope it wasn't too worried about being in a TV Studio with lights and cameras glaring at it. Poor thing...
Editorial comment on gas pump pricing:
What an interesting development – gas pricing reaching levels of a third world nation in the US. Seems to me that a possible collusion might be spoken of wherein oil pricing and final, gas pump pricing are not relevant any longer. In the past, final pricing and cost of goods whether in the continental US or outside the country OPEC were conjoined at the hip in a 'relative' equational formula. If this was so then, what has changed today to make it a non-working or re-allocated formulation allowing a widened pricing cost to the consumer and an unknown greater profit to the producers? Of course as in any Hollywood format, oil producers and Hollywood will suggest the disparity between then and now is the expanded cost of procurement, processin and delivery with a single proviso – we all know that Hollywood fabricates audaciously leading us to an ending question, has our nation’s oil companies, for profit sake, gone Hollywood?????
Piers Morgan is a VERY brave man who is standing up to the extremely paranoid 2nd amendment enthusiasts. Piers, please keep up your vigilant crusade because we sane Americans need you to be our voice in this crazed world!
I wonder where the trees are produced for making furniture?
You really make it appear really easy with your presentation however I to find this matter to be really something that I feel I would by no means understand. It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me. I am looking ahead on your subsequent publish, I’ll attempt to get the hang of it!
An adult cheetah, so fast! I saw one in mexico one time. Great segment!
