READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
Coming up this evening at 9, Piers Morgan sits down for an honest and emotional face to face conversation with Brandy.
As the 33-year-old singer born Brandy Norwood has recently released her sixth studio album, tonight she opens up about the woman for whom the work honors, Whitney Houston.
With Brandy's CD entitled "Two Eleven," she explains that the numbers signify not only her own birthday (Brandy was born on 2.11.79,) but also the day on which Houston passed, February 11th of this year.
Having known the music icon since the pair worked together on the film "Cinderella" in 1997, Brandy surmises what it must have been like for Houston to have endured the loss of her iconic and powerful singing voice:
"I understand you know, because, I feel like when I don't have my instrument, I don't really have me," she tells Morgan. "Of course there's more to you than your voice. But, that's what you use to share, that's what you use to give. It's your purpose. It's what you were born to do ... It probably drove her insane."
Having admittedly lost touch with Houston during the star's final years, Brandy was in the hotel on the night the six-time Grammy Award winner died, and tonight she describes hearing the tragic news:
"I fell to the floor, in tears. And had been crying for weeks, and months after that," says Brandy. "It hit me. It just hit me in ways I can't even, explain."
Watch the clip, and listen to the interview, then tune in this evening as Brandy opens up further about her relationship with Houston and shares details about her newest musical production.

Okay Brandy, I love you girl but listen you lost touch with her, but keep going around doing these interviews. On the surface it seems like you're using this to your advantage, but if I'm wrong I apologize in advance.
Uh Chika how exactly do you know Brandy lost touch with Whitney. Her brother hung out with Whitney for over 4 years, and Whitney has had several visits with the whole family at dinners and stuff . Please do your research
Brandy seems to sing the sort of song that would have helped your other guest when the floor fell out of her life and her three children died, by for example suggesting a activity for after the tragedy, in her song "After the Flood", when she talks of the pain drying up and changing plans so as to make a stand, and also in the same song she talks of being overwhelmed by the feelings tragedy brings, which at least means that those who suffer a loss have the companionship of knowing that what they are going through has been gone through before.
You say you have long been a friend of hers but as this world so values the cognitive faculties, as human society so gives a chance to talk, to a hearing, to those with cognitive faculties and so shuts the mouth of those who have not won a place as intellectuals, if you want to be someones friend you have show them off to others by putting them through their paces on the intellectual field, by showing how counscious they are of fabricating their sound, inventing it rather than being instinctive, as animals are meant to be and of how counscious they are of how their message might serve others. You are not acting as a true friend unless you show up their intellectual abilities. I know htose who pretend they want to show of your paces, when they get you in to a marrass of questions that are really designed to trap you in to looking silly and shamless they are desigened to show off your faults or what some imagine to e your faults i know those who would have you tellthe truth and it turns out thaat what they would have you say is not so much the truth as that you seethings as they do, so, as with everthing, one has to be careful with those who pretend to teach you or show your abilities off to others.
Though you are usually good at bringing out the most serious in all others, in the case of Brandy, I think the gossipy questions overwhelmingly took the fore over the technical ones on singing and her expression of the world of pain and joy and such, her art. What can you say about when a freind dies, freinds have often died for you long before their real death and you have spent years morning there loss while they are alive and so you are not so overcome with emotion at their real death as you might otherwise have been and if you are not overcome with emotion you will be called a psycopath, no one knows of the years in which you missed them without havign much ocasion to talkof it and if you are overwhelmed by emotion, will you be beieved? I also often grieve people for years after their death though at the time they died I was not really able to understand their loss and not so terriblyefected. I feel terribly sorry for people when they are ill and not sorry for them when they are dead which annoys some people, anyway round it is often dangerous to talk of your feelings at such a time. Another thing about morning is that there are friends who are not very kind and I would do anything not to cry in front of them, or to talk of ever having cried so there is a reason not to react which reason is balanced out by the dangers of not doing so, as you maybe accused of insensitivity if you dont cry. With so many reason to cry or not to, how can one know what a person feels in such a moment from what they say or do, to ask it is to be less likely ot know them than if we talk of their relations at any other moment. Those who tell you public opinion is not dangerous simply want to put you in to a vunerable position. rose macaskie madrid
I agree with you Brian. Chicka, you should really do your research. They were extremly close. Maybe Brandy just wanted to be closer than they already were! You shouldn't come on here and post things like maybe she is using it to her advantage, because little do you know, Brandy didn't even talk about Whitney in interviews when she first passed because it was too difficult. However, how else do you keep the memory of someone that you held close to your heart alive? By speaking highly about them. I feel as though this is good for her to keep Whitney's memory alive. Brandy has a number 1 album name TWO ELEVEN named after her birthday and the passing date of her her mentor and the album is phenomenal, she also has a new Tyler Perry movie that will surely be a blockbuster hit coming out in March, and a number 1 TV show on BET, she is also set to take the stage with Taylor Swift and more @ Dick Clark's Annual Rockin New Years Eve show in a few weeks....so does it sound like she needs the publicity...ummmm...NO! Just saying...research first!
@ Rose Macaskie Madrid....Im sorry, Im not following anything that you posted! I don't understand your point.
Emotions? Brandy is a professional actress! Brandy and brother Ray gave Whitney Houston cocaine the night Whitney fell and died- the cocaine she and Ray sold to Whitney the previous three times gave Whitney bad headaches. Murder to get your money into Brandy's pocket? Singing only one of Brandy's talents?
