I am 100% in agreement with Bob Costas. Guns cause way more problems than solving them.
Here is my perspective Costas! You are a Coward!! If you don't know what I'm talking about, read "A Nation of Cowards" by Jeffrey Snyder. Google it.
Better yet, let him read it at his leisure when CBS fires his worthless opinions. Unfortunately, he doesn't even understand football.
Can can't "cause" anything, they are inanimate objects, I society that glorifies violence is the problem. Did we say a gun killed Bin Laden? No A seal team did. IT IS FALSE SCIENCE TO SAY GUN CONTROL LEADS TO LESS VIOLENCE!!!
This is the same argument that all you barefoot idiots make. How about instead of spitting ignorant retoric you look at the violence numbers from countries that do have stricter gun laws. Hint since math is probably not your strong suite; The more gun control the less gun related deaths/injuries. I am a hunter, and no real person wants to get rid of all of the giuns. Give me one reason why regular people need semi-auto rifles and hand guns? Its not like you hunt with them.
False science!!??? Have a look outside you rborders, Mark. Look at the countries that have gun control and look at the USA. It's appalling that you so called civilized Americans are so blind. I am so tired of hearing how you in the USA are the best at everything. Some things, yes. Gun control? Counting votes on election nights? Not so much.
Guns can't "cause" anything, they are inanimate objects, I society that glorifies violence is the problem. Did we say a gun killed Bin Laden? No A seal team did. IT IS FALSE SCIENCE TO SAY GUN CONTROL LEADS TO LESS VIOLENCE!!!
So do cars...look how many people they kill. Let's ban them too!
Guns do NOT kill people....people do!
If you listen to him, you might just as well ban football. I see them carting the boys off the field every Sunday. OOOOOOHHH so dangerous......
Guns can't "cause" anything, they are inanimate objects, A society that glorifies violence is the problem. Did we say a gun killed Bin Laden? No A seal team did. IT IS FALSE SCIENCE TO SAY GUN CONTROL LEADS TO LESS VIOLENCE!!!
I would like to see guns stay in America and see Morgan and Costas leave America. Morgan and Costas are free to go live in a gun free country.
Agree with Piers Morgan & Bob Costas
1stAmen its good to hear that you agree and I am so happy you decided to use your 1st Amendment right to say so. Please do all of us that are pro 2nd Amendment a favor, get off our coat tails! If you are anti-gun do not let our influence cast a shadow on your safety. Place a sign in your yard, "Gun Free Zone". We will be happy to follow the law and bring no guns around, even if criminals visit.
The 2nd amendment says your allowed to have guns. It does not specifi that you can have assault rifles that are only good for killing a massive number of people at a time. I am a hunting and I have no problems with guns as long as they are used for hunting or shooting skeet. Gun control is about the wrong guns out of the wrong hands.
If more weapons will make us safer, then we should support every country having nuclear weapons and missiles. Are you starting to feel safer?
I love how this guy Jeff Kelly can't even get his basic facts straight. Costas works for NBC and has for 30 years moron.
I wouldn't take sports advice from Bob Costas, let alone life advice. We are talking about a guy who chose to star in the movie Pooty Tang.
Anyone who commits suicide is mentally ill. To focus on guns as a solution ignores the cause and is a disservice to those who need our help the most. What do you want to do about people who hang themselves, use poison, or jump off a bridge? People who commit suicide often choose a violent method as a way to punish those who live. Let’s not get caught in a debate that doesn’t address the real needs; more education and access to mental health services.
A professional athlete loses his senses, stabs and kills his wife and friend. A professional athletic loses his senses and shoots his family, then himself. A professional athlete gets drunk and drives, wastes his life and takes another in a crash. With all three scenarios of people being killed, the common denominator is, people kill people. Do we talk about banning knives...no. Do we ban cars....no. But there are idiots out there that think banning guns is going to stop people from killing others. I believe in tougher penalties....an eye for an eye.
Kids like you keep using the word ban. No one is going to ban guns. Of course if someone wants to kill someone else they will find a away. This is not the part that needs to be adressed. we need to keep guns out of the hands of people who go on these killing sprees. Then we need to disallow guns that are only made for killing people.(large clip auto/semi-auto guns)
do you even know what a clip is or what the differents between auto/semi-auto gun, i dont think you do and guns are made to kill people
The issue with Bob Costas is not gun control. The issue is that he (and NBC) used extremely poor judgement in utilizing his platform on SNF to spew his views on Gun Control. If he and Piers want to discuss gun control so be it, that is what this show is for. I do not watch SNF to hear polarizing political rants from unqualified individuals anymore than I watch Piers Morgan Tonight to see football and hear a good analysis of the sport. Quite frankly, I think he should be fired for misusing his position.
I actaully like the little bit of random stuff that costas says on SNF. Most of it is about news in the world and helps us remember that however much we love football it is just a game and the world is much bigger than such a thing.
Bill W, You overlook a very important fact. Guns' only purpose is to injure or kill. Knives and cars obviously have other purposes. More importantly, guns and other firearms can kill a much greater number of people in a very short span of time. With so many unstable or sick people out there, why make it so easy for anyone to acquire lethal weapons?
Have you ever heard of target shooting, trap and skeet, cowboy action shooting, IDPA, the National Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio, hunting, personal and family defense against the thugs of the world and last of all, the zombie apocalypse!!!.
Don't project on me what you fear you would do if you owned a firearm!! I have been a gun owner and user (various shooting sports, hunting, personal/family defense (the mere presence of my firearm prevented an attack on myself and another time on a member of my family) for over 40 years. To date, I have killed NOBODY!!!!
Again no sane person wants to take your guns away. Limiting who and what kind of guns these people can get is paramount to living in a safe society. The "sick:" people should not be able to get semi-auto guns that can kill multiple people in one go. IMO the world would be a better place if we only had musketts. 1 shot use it responsibly.
Educated I would be willing to restrict what firearms I can purchase if you are willing to restrict your car purchases to 1978 AMC Gremlins or older. If I desire to purchase a firearm why should I be limited? Its like me going out and saying you can not buy a Corvette because Corvettes kill x number of people per year. It is not the object that causes the harm it is the action of the responsible person.
I couldn't agree more. When the requirement for liability insurance is required on all guns sold including the requirement to keep up the insurance current at all times, then the gun/car deal might make a little sense sense. I would like to see liability insurance for gun owners that would cover the cost of discharging a weapon like it does when you get in a car accident.
Right now, the cost of cleaning up all of the gun violence is paid by taxpayers; ambulance, medical, police, firefighters, loss of life etc. It would be a great thing for gun owners to demonstrate personal responsibility by paying into the insurance fund. That way they would not be the recipient of tax payer dollars to cover the expense like the shooting in Portland. When you purchase a gun, you should be purchasing the liability insurance to cover the gun misuse just like a car. I would imagine that automatic weapons, like a Ferrari would cost a pretty penny.
your argument is dumb because you don't buy cars to kill people you buy them to drive or show off depending on how much money you make. Certain guns(using ak-47s as an exaple) are only good for killing people. They make bad hunting rifles, but are really good for taking out crowds of people. This is the problem. It is not x thug here kills y person here. It is y person here kills 10-20 people in a mall or other crowded area. Honestly I would be against gun control if I thought society could govern itself. Instead they blame video games and movies instead of looking in the mirror. It is sad the government needs to curb our ignorance, but it is necessary these days.
@roverley said "Guns cause way more problems than solving them."
Hmmm. An elementary student can Google the statistics:
On the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's website, it shows on their "FastStats" page the following information (under "Mortality"):
All injury deaths: 177,154 (100%)
All poisoning deaths: 41,592 (23.5%)
Motor vehicle traffic deaths: 34,485 (19.5%)
All firearm deaths: 31,347 (17.7%)
So do all vehicles cause way more problems than solving them? Ban the cars & trucks & buses?
Do all substances that are poisonous – even the regular household items – cause way more problems than solving them? Get rid of all mouthwash because some people will swallow a bunch of it & die from it? Eliminate cold and flu medications because some people will overdose on it by taking too much?
The efforts of the majority of people who want to "solve" the gun problem continually ignore the single salient fact that applies here: PEOPLE are responsible for the crimes they commit. Period. It doesn't matter if they use a knife, a gun, a chain, or drive drunk & run someone down. None of those objects is dangerous in and of itself. It is the MISHANDLING / ABUSE of those inanimate objects that leads to accidents, injuries, and deaths (intentional or otherwise).
But gun control advocates never believe in personal responsibility. Blame anything but the people who misuse the gun, but never worry about those who misuse a knife or a car. Look at the statistics!! More people die from auto accidents than guns....and far more die from poisoning (accidental or otherwise) than either cars or guns.
Wake up!! Personal responsibility is the name of the game, and you cannot legislate that. It has to be EDUCATED into people. Look at the crime rates per 100k people by state (easy to Google): many of the heavily restricted states for gun ownership have higher rates of gun crimes than many of the states where laws are lax. ALSO, the reverse is true in many states: many with more lax laws have higher rates than states with stricter laws.
The stats tell you that the rate of gun violence is unrelated to the nature of the gun laws on the books (whether lax or restrictive). That's all the evidence that you need that other variables make the difference, NOT the laws on the books.
Of the 177K "injury deaths" cited above ...how many were truly accidental deaths as opposed to purposful acts of homicide? Guns kills people. Guns are an efficient and effective way to kill people. That's why guns are used in the military. Handguns and automatice guns kill people. Period. The rest of your arguement is garbage,
Is name calling the best you got? I'm neutral on the issue, but its sad when the best you have is name calling.
If we were to ban everything that can kill people you would end up with a naked society locked up in little rubber rooms. The problem is not the gun. Just ask Nichole Brown Simpson how safe she was because he did not have a gun.
If you want to live in a country that has banned all guns just let the NRA know that you want to denounce your citizenship and live in Mexico or UK. I would be happy to send you to another county.
Again no one wants to take away all of the guns. Gun control is about limiting the kinda of guns that people can buy and who can buy them. It is also about teaching responsibility as far as gun safety is concerned.
your comparing apples to oranges. Also numbers aren't really indicative of the real problem.
I think Mike's argument is partly right. But, if someone has a serious mental problem, then the "responsibilty" argument is not so strong. It is way too easy for crazy people to get guns and rifles (Virginia Tech shootings, Colorado shootings, etc., etc.)
You know, the same month that the Aurora Colorado shooting happened (12 people dead 20 or so injured) 13 people were killed in Texas. They ranged in age from 8 years old to 30 years old (or so) 22 I believe were injured.
Two things kept this from being featured on mainstream national media outlets.
First: The victims were all Latino's and all illegal immigrants.
Second: Their deaths/injuries were caused when the overloaded pickup truck they were in (being driven by an unlicensed 14 year old) crashed.
Now first of all, some of my details may be off slightly. I am confident on the number of deaths but not the total number injured for example. I am confident the driver was underage and unlicensed but not of his exact age.
Having said all of that. where is the national outrage? Where are the national media stars in condemning these senseless deaths ? Where are the politicians calling for legislation to stop this sort of thing? Or apologists saying, the problem is, pickup trucks can carry so many people and travel so fast! We need to limit the number of passengers a vehicle can carry.
This sort of rhetoric regarding firearms is not based in logic or concern for the safety of people. It is born from ignorance and fear.
Because it is already illegal for children to drive cars. This is apples to oranges and you know that. Just ignorant retoric.
Thus the real idea behind gun control. Most people who are against it spout politcal retoric or use the word ban. Those of us who are pro gun control don't want to do away with the second amendment or ban guns. That is just the spouting of concervative mouthpeices who attempt to sway the ignorant masses.
Why do you think that players are carrying guns? To protect the home, to hunt, etc. - sure, the NFL and common sense says, "...that is okay."
Some players, and people, are paranoid, and they carry guns. Why are they scared? Grew up in a voilent ghetto? Is it drugs? The hits? Maybe... It's a right. There are laws of what one can and can not do with the gun. If someone wants to do something ill with a gun, they find a gun for the job.
Hire all female security or support players carrying guns. It's best to know who has them. They, people who want to own and carry a gun, are going to carry them regardless.
I have a CCW, I carry daily. Not because I am looking to cause harm to anyone but because I want no harm to come my way.
Its like having car insurance, its not that you are planning on hitting a tree today but its there for the other things that come at you. Another more direct way to think about it is this: You or your spouse are walking along and a bad guy attacks the lady and starts raping her. Are you going to protect her/yourself with your gun? Or are you going to tell her the police have been called they will be here in 4+ minutes, wish more could be done?
And your more than welcomed to carry your gun. I don't have any problems with that. However some more steps need to be taken to make it more difficult for the crazies to get guns.
I am really tired of Piers telling us how great England is and how bad America is. The dynamics of the two countries are entirely different.
Yea England has a gun ban but yet gun violence is up 40%.
And is still significantly less than here. Also they don't have crazies going into croweded areas with assault weapons and killing many people at a time. The reason for the gun violence like the increase in most violence is attached to the economy and the uncertaintanty of their capital.
If Piers Morgan doesn't like firearms here in the USA then I suggest that he move back to Great Britain. I'd be happy to see him go as his show is usually boring and tedious. We don't need pompous Limeys critiquing the second amendment. Go back your nanny state homeland.
thinking of ways to better society is not a vain attempt like it is in your mind. It is not that those of us who are pro gun control hate guns. That statement just shows how intellegent you are. I happen to be pro gun control, and I love guns. Gun control is about responsability something our society lacks.
Why limit the comments to the NFL? We all live in a gun culture. Until we do someting - and I don't know how - we are in for more of the same.
Freedom is not nearly 300 civilians shot each day, including children--anytime, anywhere. This is a gun holocaust.
If you do not like the culture that is America. MOVE to another country! Mexico has very strong anti-gun laws you should be safe there!
So because some of us don't like how the country is heading we should just leave? This idealogy is so approarate for someone of your IQ.
The number of people killed by idiots with guns is insignificantly small compared to the number of people killed by governments who have banned guns in their countries; over 100 million killed by governments in the 20th century. And another important point is that it is already illegal to kill someone (regardless of method). These people who kill are already criminals so what makes you think they would turn in their guns if they were outlawed. It is so true if guns are outlawed; only outlaws will have guns. Gun control has never been the solution and never will be. Criminals will always have guns or other methods of killing someone. The innocent have the God given right to protect themselves. The most dangerous threat to liberty is for only the government to be armed. We will cease to be a free country if that ever happens.
When you and Bob Costas were putting together your stats on guns, arrests, jail time and other NFL activity you are discussing why did you not mention the stats on race demographic.
Looking forward to your interview with Bob Costas tonight. He is right – the problem is with our society and where is it going. Whatever their argument – if the KC Chiefs player hadn't had a gun, he couldn't have shot his girlfriend.
If Jovan Belcher hadn't had a gun, he would have stabbed his girl friend with a knife, strangled her with a rope, beat her to death with a baseball bat, smothered her with a pillow, poisoned her or just choked the living hell out of her. Then he would have found a way to kill himself too!
A determined person with little or no value on human life and raised in a culture that glorifies violence will always find a way!! So let's see now, we need to outlaw knives, rope, baseball bats, pillows and peoples hands. Is that about right??
The idea is to keep guns out of these peoples hands. Will it stop some random person from killing another person....maybe not, however it wil keep 1 crazy person from firing multiple shots into crowds of people.
Maybe they should watch where these players hang out all night and run up $10,000 drinking tabs in the clubs. All they have top do is go into clubs in N.Y. soho district !! Oh and the women there with.
The truth has been suppressed!!
I believe that Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (Full Metal Jacket) said it best. "A rifle does not kill, it is a heard heart that kills."
ok we get it. Yes guns are tools this same ignorant retoric does not change the fact that we need more responsability, and the only way to achieve this is with gun control laws.
Surely there's a middle ground here where there are reasonable, better enforced limits and regulations on guns, similar to what is required for operating a motor vehicle (age, registration, criminal and mental health check, proper safety training, yes – even at gun shows...) And we can continue programs like buybacks to help get illegal guns off the streets. But we are a nation that enjoys owning and using guns. That's not going to change. There is a price to pay for that, however. Our homicide rate is much higher than other industrialized countries because of it, arguments escalate to lethality much more often, domestic violence has a higher mortality rate, and many children are killed by gun accidents each year. There are many risks in life: smoking is risky, bicycling is risky, driving a car is risky. Americans have collectively chosen a risky activity in which to engage. Let's make it as safe and well-regulated as possible, and within that basic framework, let people do what they want.
Overreaction by anti-gun and pro-gun advocates uselessly degrades to an
all-or-nothing stance. We're not an all-or-nothing nation. We're better
No one in thier right mind is talking about banning guns. Gun control is about what your talkiing about. Your middle ground is gun control. I love guns, and I hunt. Yet I am smart enough to see that something needs to be done to fix the major problems with guns in an unresponsable society.
"If Jovan Belcher didn't possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today."
"If Josh Brent didn't possess a car, he would be fine and Jerry Brown would be alive today."
Both were using alcohol...to me it makes for a better "target" than guns...
Who cares about Bob Costas' opinion on guns? If you kill someone with a hammer, blame it? If you ban guns, black market will grow rapidly. It's no win-win. CNN, you morons for having Bob on the show.
Piers – you are a female genital part.
You are sick... Lacking brain cells to communicate.
Both of you guys just shut the F up–
Hope we see less of Bob Costa. He was fine on PM.
He truly ruined the Olympic for all the views. Hope he stays home for the next Olympic.
Hey Moose 1,
You say you need your gun for "the zombie apocalypse". Are you serious? Good God. As I said before, just too many crazies out there!
Still yapping about the murder suicide when another NFL player got his fellow teammate killed in a car accident with alcohol being involved.
Bob is right about one thing. The "culture" is a problem. This isn't just in the world of sports many much around with the United States. People haven't been taught proper responsibility whether it is with guns, cars, alcohol, or life really. Going after the tool is the wrong way to look at it. You need to tackle the mindset and simply separating ourselves from the tool will not solve the problem.
The liberals’ and their gun control measures show a true ignorance of both history and what the average citizen wants. More people die every day from smoking, drinking, obesity, car accidents, etc…. than from firearms. I am a hell of a lot more scared about the 17 year old kid texting and driving than my neighbor who has a legally purchased firearm at his disposal. The current gun laws are more than adequate. If you are a convicted felon –NO approval, Committed Domestic violence – NO approval , Drug Abuser – NO approval. The list goes on and on. More people die worldwide from knives than by guns. I guess that means I will have to eat my steak with my hands if you get your way since my steak knife would be next on your list!!!
Again no one in their right mind wants to ban guns. Since parents don't teach responsability we need to govern things a bit more and try to teach responsability. For example guns that people use in this mass killings are usually legally bought weapons that were taken from family or friends. we can't force people to be responsible and lock up guns, but we can attempt to teach them this while making sure 1 gun with 1 clip can't murder 10s/20s of innocent people going about thier daily life.
I don't think you know what your taking about. We have open carry in my state and I'm armed every place I go.If you'll check the facts and quit making them up as you go,you & bob will find out that the crime rate is lower. We've all seen on local news reports where CCP's have saved the day and it's funny no innocents have been hit.Just because your a cop that doesn't mean your a good shot.If you look on you-tube you'll find a cop that shoots himself in the foot while he's giving a gun safety class at a school.Right here the cops cornered a robber with a gun in-between two houses (30feet apart) they shot over 40 times and they hit the left house 40 times and finally hit the criminal once. So,I wouldn't use them as an example. You and the left crazy's need to look at Mexico, they have total gun control Hows that working out for them, how many get killed in a day?Probably half of them were killed by the guns that your president sold to mex.mafia.Oh didn't two American's that we know of get killed by them same weapons. The 2cd is there to protect us from the gov. and so we can defend ourselves. So, I'll say this again if you & bob don't like it,you & bob can pack your bags & move to a country that has a gun ban and be at the mercy of the criminal with the illegal gun standing over you.Good luck and learn how to beg for you and your family's life.
Bob, enjoys the protection of armed body guards at sporting events regularly. All of these celebs who walk around with their armed body guards and then publicly condemn the 2nd ammendment, are all hypocrites. Of course they get to look down their nose at all the common folk.
No one is condeming the 2nd amendment. Gun control doesn't break the second amendment, and no one is calling for banning all guns. Please thing more instead of listening to faux news.
Among the many "gems" that this moron spouted was the notion that no-one outside of the military or law enforcement should be allowed to possess an AK-47 or a 50 caliber sniper rifle. Apparenlty the historical concept of tyranny wasn't taught in his journalism school. the fact that military and law enforcement has such weapons is the veryreason that citizens (not subjects) must be allowed to possess them. This idiot is one more nail in the coffin of NBC.
we dont live in a country where the person with the biggest stick has power all mighty. This is just the fear tactics used by conservative mouthpeices like faux news to incite fear into the ignorant masses. Honestly it is kinda ironic you bring this up since we are all being held down by those with money similar to the way weapons used to be used.
Stay on topic, this isn't about class envy! It's about the foundation of the 2nd Amendment.
... Bob Costas sits down with Piers Morgan this evening at 9 p.m. where he tells Morgan, "It's infinitely more likely that something bad will happen if you’re armed, than that something good will happen.”
Call me crazy for not being conformist to your roll over and die scenario; but if you are in such a position as to need a firearm, something bad HAS already happened.
The correct question should be, "What will you do to minimize the bad situations’ effect on yourself?"
Example – Hurricane Katrina: run to the stadium and complain bitterly that you were not "rescued" by others or rescue yourself from the situation?
The only reasonable answer is to rescue yourself. Never allow others to control your fate in a life and death situation when you have the ability to save your own life.
The gun issue will resolve itself in two ways:
1.) Hyped up on fear gun owners will shoot of each other more often
2.) The insurance companies will begin to require liability insurance on guns like liability insurance on cars.
It is funny how one of your Reps, Bob Costas, immediately speaks out about guns. Like he did on Sunday Night Football, talking about the murder-suicide involving the Kansas City Chief's Jovan Belcher. Why doesn't he talk about how repeated blows to the head affect long-term behavior? Also, he briefly talked about the very unfortunate situation with the car accident with Dallas Cowboy's linebacker Jerry Brown. Why doesn't he talk about cars. Why not call for tight control on cars, like he said with guns, "it's not about protection with guns," obviously to someone that has never been in Combat of any type or been to War; in the same perspective, its obvious then, cars are not about convenience, they're just death machines. Definitely too, alcohol, we definitely can't have that...since we're talking about tighter controls on stuff! Yes, it's all guns fault and they're availability and access! After all, if a person is intent upon murder, he/she wouldn't commit that act without access to guns! I am not at all trying to be belligerant or questioning Mr. Costa's right to express his opinion on Gun Control. That is his right, regardless of whether I agree or disagree with it, and part of what makes this country so great and why a lot before me and why I have served and am dedicated to ensuring that we have the right to have differences. I only question why he is so quick to jump automatically and blame handguns for the recent trajedy that happened, and nothing else, like I said, I would think repeated blows to the head and its effect on long-term behavior is a lot more relevant and valid when dealing with the tragedy of Players and the NFL. Thank you for your time, take care.
You have far less to be afraid of from an unarmed individual than an armed one. Arming more people means creating more to be afraid of. I am aware of the hype regarding self protection. I don't feel it. I have never felt threatened by another person where I felt like a weapon would help me feel safer.
That's just my experience. I live in a civilized society where people have an amazing respect for each other. The attempt to characterize the US as a lawless society where everyone needs to carry a gun for protection is ridiculous. I think that the NRA would like more of us to believe in this, but it is an attempt to sell more guns for commercial purposes; nothing more. As long as Fox and the NRA continue to promote an environment of fear and paranoia, we will never see an end to this debate. Even mass shootings don't seem to get through the barrage of misinformation.
You have the right to live in fear if you choose to. You don't need to. This is a civilized society. Continuing to support the NRA and Fox's agenda will only cause fear and gun sales to rise; making us less safe.
Again, the Gun Control debate will always varie, you have your opinion and I have mine (though I would like to never be associated with FOX, I know we agree on Gun Rights, but I still do not associate myself with them, the NRA, but not FOX), my question again, is "I only question why he is so quick to jump automatically and blame handguns for the recent trajedy that happened, and nothing else, like I said, I would think repeated blows to the head and its effect on long-term behavior is a lot more relevant and valid when dealing with the tragedy of Players and the NFL," and I think this point of my post is pretty clear, but I apologize if it isn't. Take care.
"...one of your Reps," as in to NBC.
Costas makes a living on violence, death and injuries .... football culture. But has issues with guns.... Please just marry your buddy Morgan already and set up house somewhere. You "guys" make a great couple.
Football is not about death and violence. It is about will, determination, and the grind. You sir should be ashamed of your self for comparing football with murderers.
You are disillusion. Football is about NOTHING. And I personally don't care either way. But Costas wants to blame guns for violence when violence itself is the cause. Keep your football and I'll keep my guns.
Maybe just maybe if that ape-ling Belcher didn't play football his victim would be alive today. How about that ?
so you insist to blame football instead of guns? that a great argument.......
The gun didn't whisper in his pin head to kill people; it was the violence the sport played in his life. Maybe it was his low moral character also. Could be lots of things...but it wasn't the gun.
Tonight should be interesting... two ant-gun liberals. I will be doing something else, and will never watch a football game with Costas on the mic. Wonder why UK has about ten times the home invasions as the US? Also, we band alcohol in the 20's, drugs in the 60's, and look what happened. Actually, my guns will be worth a fortune to the bad guys, when the bleeding hearts get thier way.
. . .and roughly 1/40th the murder rate.
gun control is not about banning guns. It is about teaching responsability and limiting those who can own guns to those who are most likely to use them in a responsible way.
Many hudreds of people use firearms to save their lives or protect their property or someone else every year, but our biased media won't report those statistics as they continue their quest to outlaw guns. Great Britain and Austraila banned gun ownership and while murders committed with firearms dropped slightly ever other category a gun was used in jumped by as much as 20%. Maybe the overpaid prima donas of our "professional sports" players should be taught some self control or better yet ban and NBA and NFL players from owning guns they can't manage their lives, their money or their anger
Great Britain where you don't have to worry about the sports players ie Soccer players being violent, just the fans. They will destroy a stadium and riot in the streets if their team loses. They will beat each other into comas, so thank god they don't have guns, but most are too ignorant to know how to use one. Violence is violence, gun violence, soccer hooligans, we all have our crosses to bear
I've never seen a gun wandering the streets on it's own shooting people. It's takes a person to pick it up, aim, and fire it. If all guns didn't exist, we would just use the next best thing to kill with. It's called COMMON SENSE people, something both Piers and Costas both lack.
This is a poor agument as far as gun control is concerned. Gun control is not about taking guns away from people, and its not meant to curve gun violence. It is about responsible ownership, and limiting the range of firearms that are available for public purchase. We didn't have people shooting up crowded areas when only muskets were available for obvious reasons.
Guns don't kill people , People kill people? If some one want two kill some one and don 't have a Guns he not going to not going to do It ,he just going to find another way to do It. He going to find a Knife or a baseball Bat or something. And If you ban Gun If some one want bad enough they are going to find one any way.
As long as there are murderous retarded football players I will want my guns. No one can protect them self from a 350 lb. ape unless they have a gun and everyone knows this. Guns equalize.
