On Monday evening, "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomed Charlie Crist to the program. The former Florida governor recently left the GOP and joined the Democratic party.
"I didn't leave the Republican party. The Republican party left me," said Crist. "What I mean by that is issue after issue, they seem to get more strident and more difficult - if you will - less tolerant, less welcoming, whether it was immigration or education or voter suppression that we saw recently."
"And the Republican leadership - I really don't think the Republicans," continued Crist, "the leadership of the party today has moved in a direction that even Jeb Bush said not long ago, that probably it would be difficult for Ronald Reagan to succeed in today's Republican party."
Watch the clips, and listen to the interview, as Crist shares with Morgan how the Republican stance on certain issues are "counter to my values."
