READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
Coming up tonight at 9, Piers Morgan hosts a very special Washington, D.C. edition of his program, as the British television presenter is in America's national capital for Tuesday's annual White House Christmas Party.
Prior to the evening's festivities, the "Piers Morgan Tonight" host spent the morning with a trio of Senators – John McCain, Joe Lieberman, and Lindsey Graham – who have affectionately been labeled the "three amigos."
Adding his own friendly banter to the mix, Morgan renames the group the "Four Amigos," and listens attentively as the Republican from Arizona offers up a whimsical tale about his colleague from South Carolina:
"Can I tell you one quick story about Lindsey? We were on this trip and we were going to this country, which will remain unnamed," begins McCain, as Lieberman can only mutter "Oh, no – not that one."
Moving foward with the memory, McCain continues:
"So Lindsey asked the person when - how much time we had. And the person said 30 minutes. Lindsey somehow misinterpreted that to take three Ambien."
Fast-forwarding, McCain details a meeting with other senators, as well as the host nation's president. As is procedure, the visiting politicians move down a line, each asking a question. The problem? When Graham's turn comes, he's fast asleep:
"So the guy next to him goes," says McCain, offering a nudging gesture. "Lindsey wakes up and says, 'Well, how do you like being president?'"
As the four "amigos" share a laugh, Lieberman offers a compliment:
Speaking in defense of himself for the first time, Graham notes that the particular politician they met, in the nation McCain preferred not to name, was unlikely to enjoy a long tenure in power:
"We go to places where people don't last very long. We don't get too attached to the people you meet. They don't stick around."
Watch the clip, and listen to the story, then tune in tonight at nine as Morgan and the "three amigos" move on to additional topics, including Susan Rice, Benghazi, and the definition of marriage.

Which one is Moe? Larry and Curley are pretty clear. Who can take these guys seriously.
I fully agree with JeremyO. I was channel surfing and got locked in on your show tonight. I do watch both sides of the political spectrum, but tonight was a sane fair interview with one side of the isle. It would be very helpful to us that are less polarized to have more great interviews on both sides of the isle.
Thanks very much, best dhow ever...
If Larry and Curley are pretty clear... shouldn't process of elimination reveal Moe?
I am a Republican; however I find it alarming for a U.S.senator and lawyer to say "me and my dad" liked to hunt – how about my dad and I liked to hunt!!!??
Piers: I turned it to this program after watching some anti-secular, anti-union, and anti-liberal absolute madness on Fox. You were taking up a constructive conversation with three of our leaders. Thank you for bringing sanity back into my apartment.... :P
will he do a show on my rights not to join a union!!! Will he do a show on violence by union members in Michigan?? I hope so, but not going to hold my breath!
THESE 3 HAVE A VERY DIFFERENT INSURANCE/PENSION FOR THIER RETIREMENT THAN THE REST OF US...AND YET THE WANT TO RESTRICT OURS...AND WE ARE PAYING FOR THEIR "GOLDEN BUNDLE"...
The 3 idiots. that chick lindsey loves guns cause she went a-shootin with her dad? times are very different now einstein. All 3 lazy, lecherous, cronies think ss needs to be changed. nice to know that if they had to produce results in the private sector, all 3 would be on food stamps. they enjoy fat benefits just like other fed and state slobs.
I'm in total agreement with Piers. I really do not understand how these three gentlemen can sit there and make the statements they made in regards to the Gun Laws given the frequency of news stories like the one in progress in Oregon tonight. How many innocent people going about their regular lives need to die before people in power like "THE THREE AMIGOS", do something about it. I'm so sick and tired of hearing the same old protect the 2nd amendment rights, BS. How could a ban on assault rifles and automatic weapons have any effect on the Senator's hunting trips.
Remember the saying that nobody can invade this country because everybody has a gun? Citizens with firearms are the best defense to any trouble we might get in. But, there is a downside. It seems to me we are pretty lousy at identifying who should own guns and who shouldn't. Like they said, there are gun regulations, it's just that people who are using them for these crazy things aren't being identified as people that shouldn't own guns. Further, these people are only stated as sick only after the fact that they carry out a mass-murder-suicide. We need to get better at identifying the risk factors of these events, not just categorizing people...
Like some cud chewing eloi is going to determine my right to self defense.
Why can't "Congress" reduce their "Lifetime" benefits???? Set "LIMITS" on their terms, pay and especially, LIFETIME Benefits....and welcome to "our world"....???? Thank you
AMEN...AMEN I SAY TO YOU ....LET NO LAW BE PASSED THAT DOESN'T APPLY TO EVERYONE...are they a special class?
When will you invite Norman Chomsky?
I am amazed....Curly..Moe...Larry.......:)
Why were they not asked about their support for Big Pharma and Insurance ...
Show respect, even when you are ignorant to the facts!!
I am not ignorant to the fact, therefore I agree with KR.
Piers. When you interview people you should shut up and let them answer. I tuned in because i wanted to hear what these three had to say. Not interested in hearing you run your mouth. Your rating would go up greatly if you would just shut up.
Who cares what 3 losers had to say?
at least 2 out of the 3 – mccain and graham, are the most inflammatory republicans in the senate, taking to the airwaves to threaten the president with little boy sandbox rhetoric. i simply can't believe you even think your viewers find them interesting or care what they have to say. they are responsible for the hate that has risen in this country, polarizing the population – confirming their out-of-touch policies. this is why i don't watch cnn much any more and have turned to msnbc. i could care LESS what these 3 have to say about anything. if you look up hypocracy and self-righteous and judgmental, their pictures would be next to the definition. YUCK!
Thank you, Piers, for confronting these supposed American icons; I have listened to them and have no faith in their veracity and integrity. Who are they trying to kid? They seemingly only want to make themselves look good, and who do they think they are kidding? I watch the news religiously and as a teacher care desperately that the next generation will have good leaders but now I am sincerely worried. Hut I now question having just seen "Lincoln" I am encouraged that our leaders will make good decisions but tonight I have NO faith in the men who represent the American people. Please, I hope and pray I am not the only person who feels this way.....What can we do?
Hey Piers, can't stand your show, however I did tune in because of your guests. I was particularly interested in your "interruption" of Sen. Graham regarding gun control when you said, and I paraphrase "so you blame England". As a matter of fact, that is precisely the genesis of the second amendment, which is ingrained into our culture as Americans. If you don't like it, perhaps you could find your liberal, POME-ass way back to what's left of the Empire.
McCain has not been able to accept and cope with loosing the election to a much younger black man. He is a very bitter man and I agree with V. Putting, the President of Russia that McCain is suffering mental problems.
Go live in Russia then! Maybe you would be more respectful of your country & it's leaders
People earn their respect. And if you love your Country, you do not destroy it with corruption.
jt – you are correct. How do we justify cutting ss – people's lifelines – when we can't justify raising taxation on millionaires to pay for our overspending? The fact is simple – we can't just make cuts, because the job/wage losses will result in weaker spending and could lead to a new downturn. Also, if we just cut spending – according to the trendlines of things like healthcare and education industry – we will just have to cut again later – all the way until we have to force people to go without it.
So the answer becomes – we need to temporarily get the government to a point where it is running without borrowing. That means reducing wasteful spending and ensuring that the funding we perform isn't wasted. We need to raise revenues to offset losses elsewhere, and in the end we need to drastically reform industries that are trending out of control – like healthcare and education – and get those industries on a sustainable path.
We can't just look at what is costing us the most and cut that – we should be looking into WHY those areas are costing us so much. Our ss taxes pay for ss payments – what isn't covered and is bloated is medicare...
'cause that piggy bank got broken into by the gov. to pay food stamps, free phones, etc!!!
McCain is a lost old nut.
Is Joe Lieberman an American or Israeli?
McCain = Hitler
No respect!!! How old are you?
In other words, cutting people's ss checks or healthcare access is exactly like telling any other group that they must go without healthcare or live off of 500 dollars/month. Morally, how do we not tell companies and the rich to live within our means, and telling them they will have to live off of 500,000 or 5,000,000 this year instead of twice that? Bearing in mind, according to corporate profit alone, we can fund the entire federal government with just over half of their profit this year.
Basically, we have no excuse as to why we can't temporarily fund the government until we have the answers – and secondly, what are we telling our people if we are willing to put people on the chopping block when we think it is irrational to tax people making millions of dollars higher? This doesn't include most small businesses....
And looking at healthcare, that bubble bursting is going to be pretty crazy compared to the .com or housing bubble... We should be looking at how to reduce the cost of it, not just cutting people's access to it... same with other industries – like retirement, education, etc. How do we enable this given the trends we know? That's problem solving, that's what's going to be bold decisions and that's where the real answers are going to come from.
Have you ever ran a business?? Do you pay fed taxes, property taxes, state taxes, sales tax, unemployment taxes, vehicle taxes, gas taxes, run-off water fee (tax), garbage pup taxes, all pd by small business
ppl – regardless of the comments, the main idea that I liked about this show is 'constructive conversation'. Piers at least keeps it constructive. I tried watching Frontline on fox news and my brain wanted to convulge and implode. Turning it to Tonight on CNN was just like sitting down with these three 'houligans' as if it were me in the room. That's why I appreciate the show....
Piers talked about how the homicide rate in the UK is so much lower than the US. The homicide rate in the UK is 1.2 (per 100,000), that's about what it was 150 years ago and currently a 30 year low. The US is at about a 55 year low (4.2). The homicide rate has always been higher in the US. Piers' argument holds no water. The UK has enacted strict gun control and the US has relaxed it but the US has made slightly better progress in the last half century. Maybe Piers should stop sharing is ignorant opinions.
"Maybe Piers should stop sharing is ignorant opinions." Thats ALL he knows how to do... Don't know how he gets such interesting people.....
These three guys are so interesting but PM – I don't understand why you are still on TV – you are rude, telling your guests what is "American" ..... you drive me crazy.... I left the show on , thinking, "Well maybe he's changed..." Had to turn off CNN
WHY is this man still on TV?
I was surprised that Piers did not ask the senators any questions about immigration reform, the next proposed legislation to be taken by Congress after the Fiscal Cliff, particularly since Senator McCain was one of the sponsor of Comprehensive Immigration Reform in 2008 before changing his position. Senator Graham has also been involved on this issue in the past and has recently indicated that he is in favor of immigration reform. I think Piers missed an important topic in his interview of the "Three Amigos".
My big question is WHY are these three being interviewed in the first place? They have become irrelevant within their own party. I'm sick of hearing these sob sisters and their redundant mantras.
what`s with the swastika over your left shoulder in this interview?
An AR-15 rifle is not a assault rifle, its a single fire. A assault rifle is a select fire able to fire burst or full auto. Thats all im hearing on the news, our armed service men and women who are fighting for our FREEDOM use assault rifles. Only "legal" class 3 licenced civilians can own these types of guns, and just cause its tactical looking or it is able to add say a grip, upgraded sights, lazers/lights, does not make it an "assault rifle". And furthermore many wild game hunters like to use them cause of their accuracy and ability to have options to the gun itself. And to prove another thing on this "gun control" is that sign on a building saying "no firearms or deadly weapons is prohibited on the premises" is not going to stop someone who has lost their mind and is out to harm innocent people, what it does is make the law abiding citizens who do or dont carry vulnerable to tragic happenings like the recent mall shooting and the past theater shooting.
I wonder if these three guys still have the same opinion about the Guns law issue if one of their grand children would have been killed, pity it did not happen to them but just to ordinary people for whom I feel very sorry.
I just hope the Gun law finally will change in the USA!
