Tonight: Piers Morgan returns for a live discussion on "Guns in America," faces co-creator of White House petition

Coming up this evening at 9, Piers Morgan returns to a familiar position: that of the host's chair. But after time away on holiday, Morgan also returns with his familiar position on gun control, that of respecting the Second Amendment while calling for stricter legislation.

Never shy with his stance, Morgan has regularly voiced his opinion, engaging in spirited debate, and dedicating a series of programs to an issue he feels is paramount for the country.

His controversial views have raised the ire and eyebrows of many, resulting in an official White House petition, calling for the British television presenter to be deported, claiming he's attacking the U.S. Constitution and undermining the Bill of Rights.

In response to these accusations, Morgan penned his own document – in the U.K.'s Daily Mail – in which he said "Although I love the country as a second home and one that has treated me incredibly well, I would, as a concerned parent first – and latterly, of a one-year-old daughter who may attend an American elementary school like Sandy Hook in three years’ time – seriously consider deporting myself."

This evening at 9, the "Piers Morgan Tonight" host will come face to face with the co-creator of the petition, Alex Jones. To hear him discuss the petition, and explain his strong beliefs on "Guns in America," watch the above video from earlier today during which Morgan appeared with live with CNN's Brooke Baldwin.

Then, tune in tonight to see Morgan and Jones debate the merits of his deportation, and also hear various other mass shooting victims and survivors speak live on the polarizing topic.

Don't be surprised if this segment will be the most viewed on CNN thanks to infowars dot com viewers. Hopefully Mr. Piers will handle Mr. Jones in a more civilized and respectful manner.

you've been brainwashed by years of fox news.

i'd love pierce morgan to have as guests some first responders from newtown, aurora, tucson, virginia tech, columbine (where they had an armed security guard), etc. and ask their views concerning gun control. no one wants to take all guns out of the picture here, only military style ones, and the hard core, senseless ammunition that's being sold. tired of the power of these gun and ammunition companies lobbying their way to profit, at 10,000 american deaths a year.

You can't kill 27 people in 2 1/2 minutes with a bat or a knife. A bat and a knife can be used for personal protection. A bat or a knife are primarily for other specific purposes, whereas assault rifles are ONLY made to kill as many people as possible in a short period. NOT for defense or personal protection.

The only way to stop a bad guy with an assault rifle is to take away the assault rifle! Grow some cojones and use your hands, assault rifles in a civilian's hands are cowards.

        reeblite,
Definitely agree with your point of view. I wish people would read and listen to multiple sources to get a variety of view points so they can make thoughtful decisions. Until recently I totally thought the 2nd ammendment really did protect an individual rights to bear arms. What a surprise to read it for myself and understand the real meaning behind "national militia" and the rights of individuals to have weapons in case a militia was required. Don't think that situation has happened in a very long time. The compromise seems so logical, leave the military grade guns with massive amounts of rounds delivered in seconds to the military; and leave normal folks with the simpler guns we have had for this countries history: shotgun, rifle, small hand guns (normal clips). they can still kill, but not massive numbers of deaths in minutes.

Why isn't anyone talking about how the Department of Homeland Security has bought nearly a billion rounds of HOLLOW POINT ammunition, when they are a domestic agency. Just when should the people be concerned about tyrants and bullies in government? Yes this is tragic that all these kids were murdered, but do you honestly believe the state rhetoric about it? How could that skinny nerd even hold that weapon up let alone murder so many? And nobody realizes the simple fact that this was a disarmed gun free zone – if any of the teachers or citizens had been armed they could have taken out the shooter(s) and prevented many deaths. But in this case, the state willfully disarmed with threat of force anyone who might have been able to protect those children from what is very likely a state sponsored black op in the first place.

Or when they DO ban the rifles, and "The Bad Guy" gets his hands on a now non leagal "Military Rifle" just like all criminals do now with fully automatic weapons, and busts into your house and has it pointed at your tiny, almost non existant brains? You gonna call the cops?? LMFAO, God please give me patience and understanding, I cant take these people anymore.

@Mike... Help me understand your point. Are you saying that the 2nd Amendment guarantees civilians access to all the weapons available to our military/government? This would then be an argument for nuclear weapons in personal hands?

All of our rights are subject to limitations when they infringe on the essential right to life. We've made it illegal to drink and drive, to cry "fire" in a crowded theater, and assemble to prevent access to places of businesses. Why is it absurd and un-American to you to place limits on gun ownership?

Lets be reasonable, something needs to be done! We all accept that, now let's meet halfway, let's start with who and the ability to own, everyone except mentally ill, make it where they need to prove they have the ability to properly secure these wepons, next is the capacity, a 10 round clip is sufficient as supposed to the 30 round clip, this is a fair foundation to start dialogs! None of this I am mad an Americans are a violent society. Bottom line is that we need to hold personal content to our selves, our courts will not allow personal climaxes in their court and neither should we when dealing with the second amendment !

      • JeniB

I totally agree. So glad that Piers is keeping the debate alive and not letting us forget that it's our responsibility as Americans to demand a compromise and demand that something is changed. Enough is enough. No one is advocating a complete gun ban... gun owners should not have a problem sitting down and calmly discussing a compromise to these assault rifles and 100-bullet clips. As a civilized society, Americans have historically accepted limitations to our freedoms - especially when it infringes upon other people's rights to life (drinking & driving, yelling "fire" in a crowded theater, etc.) I am a teacher and am appalled at the suggestion I carry a concealed weapon, or that armed guards are stationed at the gates to my campus. What kind of country are we envisioning to live in?

The shooter at Sandy Hook had legal access to his mother's weapons. I can't help wonder what the damage would have been had his mother been content with a typical protection handgun or rifle like my husband owns for sport and home protection, rather than this severely deadly weapon.

And I think personally think the survivors and family members of gun-violence victims, like Dave Hoover and Patrick Kennedy, should be clearly heard in this debate... it's their life that has been affected by this extreme interpretation of the 2nd amendment.

GUN CONTROL :Guns, GPS, & DNA
      1. Every gun will have a GPS locator and DNA identification for each time a weapon is fired. (This is for those that say guns don’t kill, people do).
      2. No ammunition or ammunition building equipment or supplies will be sold until each owner and gun is registered with owner DNA and serial number of each and every weapon. Also each weapon will have a device attached to each weapon that registers every time the weapon is fired with the date, time, GPS location and the DNA of the shooter. The weapon cannot be fired until the weapon has the device attached.
      3. If somebody is a felon or has mental deficiencies this is recorded in the national database. Any weapon that a felon or mental patient has will be registered in a national database. Weapons will be deactivated until the felon or patient can prove to an approved board that they have met the legal requirements to own a weapon.
      4. Every time a weapon is fired the national database will record the date, time, and DNA identification for each and every firing of the weapon.
      5. Periodically each weapon and owner will have to reactivate the GPS, DNA device on each weapon to update the national database via a unique code dictated by the national registry. This could be a random reactivation, but will also be affected by the status of the gun owner in the database.
      6. No gun will be allowed to fire any more than six rounds without reloading except for those weapons to be used by the military or police.

First of all, let me just say thank you for your service to this country. God bless you and all of your Ranger brothers for your service, bravery, and will to do the job that so many would not or could not do. Having said that, do you really believe what you just wrote? I mean, come on now. As a military man surely you understand the devastation these types of assault riffiles can cause. Once you leave the military, why do you or anyone need such a lethal weapon? You were not fighting for this country in order for its citizens to arm themselves with military caliber weapons. Surely you know your role and purpose served a much larger and more important purpose.

Anubis I can totaly see your point of view. I am a foreigner married to an Army Soldier who served in combat 3 times and I thank god everyday that he brought him home safe. I understand that for Soldiers the AR-15 is the nr. 1 weapon because it keept you safe from combat. The reason you have this gun in combat is to kill as many people as you can. I am also a mother of 2 little children. The increase of massacre (not violence) in the past 6 months just alone with an AR-15 increased imensenly and I think we all can agree on that. You never hear in the media that the Shooter was a Soldier or a Veteran it was mainly young people with or without mental issues. Those people do not know how to treat an AR-15 compair to an Soldier. This is why I do feel that there needs to be strikter gun law specialy in semi automatic rifles now if we can get the population to understand that people who are fermiliar with an AR-15 should be still able to have one for example. If you are a Soldier and you want one you should get one because you are defending your life for this country. If you are a Veteran and served in combat and you have an honorable discharge you should also be able to have one. Unfortunatly I do have to say I do not like guns I hate guns I never grew up around guns but I respect the view of the Americans and there way of life. My husband has PTSD and loves working on his AR , buying parts or paint or just spending time with it helps him more then any Therapy. But for my children we need to stop those massacare shootings. Thank you for serving our Country!!

My 24 year old son was and had his nose fractured, head covered and threatened with a gun. My items were taken, my son ambulance d to the hospital and I cried. He feels bad that he couldn't protect our home. He can't live in it anymore due to the stress. I live alone in this same house now. I'm PREPARED. Come visit me.

Piers Morgan IS attacking freedoms. Go watch the youtube videos of which he speaks. Englanders are sick that they gave up their weapons. Even the government is talking about what a mistake it was. People are now left unarmed to be 'invaded.' Have a family member harmed. YOU'LL change your tune.

Morgan.. go home. cheers from Canada!

And if they did...what happens? No more government...what happens on day 7? Do we have our normal lives sans government? Banking system is OK? Social security checks go out? We can fill our cars with gasoline? Eat at local restaurants and shop for groceries? I don't think so, it would be total chaos!

How exactly are your guns going to protect you from drones and the weaponry of the military?

You do know that the 2nd amendment was because at the time America had no standing army, so therefore it was important to have a 'well-regulated mlitia' to ensure a free and secure state. The guns weren't to protect you FROM the state. That's what your vote is about. Being a civilian is NOT a 'well-regulated militia". if you want an assault weapon, try joining the armed forces. But don't pretend you're Rambo protecting anyone's freedoms. You're just expressing your own paranoid fear.

The second amendment does NOT protect your right to own an assault rifle. Or banana clips. Get over it.

I couldn't agree with you more Bonnie. Legal gun owners aren't the problem. Wake up people and see that crimes are done by the "bad guys" who steal guns or who obtain them on the black market. The crime committed with guns by carry permit owners is 0.00000000095% out of the crimes performed with guns. Have you even done your research to see that more crimes are performed with hammers and fists than guns? PM is a socialist and I don't want this Red coat in my country telling me what I need to do and not have. Last time I checked, our Founding Fathers FOUGHT the Red coats for telling them what to do. By the way . . . No one is saying you can't have guns. Sane people are simply saying you should not be allowed to own guns that can cause massive devastation in 30 seconds. And please, stop quoting the second amendment as if you have. Clue as to what it was created for. When you quote the 2nd Amendment, you are either flat out lying or simply in a Tate of denial. It does not give you the right to own assault weapons. It was created at a time in America where there was no standing army and we were at war. The 2nd Amendment was not created to allow people like Alex Jones to own 50 guns. It was not created to provide the people a means to attack the government. Gun control has roots in racism.

History shows that, when a government starts disarming the public, it is followed by democide much of the time. Are you against people defending themselves against their own tyrranical government? Had the Jews not been disarmed in the years prior to the holocaust, the story may have turned out very different.

As a one-time gun owner, I agree that the second amendment guarantees the right to bear arms in the original context of what was written – within a well regulated militia (note the word regulated). It does not, in any way, allow citizens the right to slaughter people with military assault weapons whose sole purpose is to kill massive amounts of people. I find it so amusing that the right wing just go along with everything the NRA says....an organization, which obviously has a financial interest in keeping assault rifles on the streets.

This shows precisely what the right-wing nutcases are made of: They don't want what is best for America, they want what is best for THEM. They don't believe in freedom of speech, unless it is aligned with their point of view. Remember the Dixie Chicks? They were all calling for their heads because they dared criticize the president, yet the level of vitriol and hate coming from the right is absolutely mind blowing, and obviously, they don't think they should live by the same rules they want to impose on others.

The one that is really amusing, is when they want to secede when the elections, or laws, don't go their way. I personally, think we should let them. Let them give all the special perks to corporations that they want. Let them get rid of health care, social security, unemployment and freedom of speech. Let them have all the hate and guns that they want. I say we should leave them to themselves, and let them deal with the consequences.

Piers ignores the fact that the 2nd Amendment is in place to protect us from our own gov't in case it goes rogue (you know, like the British empire did for centuries). In such case, we would need reasonable assault weapons of military capabilities with large magazines full of bullets to ward off being attacked by our own gov't since that's what they would be armed with (and more!). The constant referral to Amendment framers not envisioning modern assault weapons ignores that the military back then didn't have them either. Today they do, so we need them too. FYI – I don't own a gun...I'm just sayin'... The constant referral to military assault weapons in the citizens hands won't help vs a tank or bazooka is a red herring too. With several hundred million weapons to protect ourselves we would at least have an overall chance winning by way of "militia" in guerrilla style defense. It would be horrible. But as Britain has proved for centuries, it's certainly a reality – should we not remember our own little history?

I was hoping for an informative show and not just a vehicle to push a point of view. I have seen some conflicting statistics from England and was hoping to get real news. I understand that Mr. Morgan has very strong emotions on this topic. This particular show was a turning point for me and CNN. I no longer watch his show and will not watch this followup show. I also do not appreciate that CNN decided to put on a 5 or more minute segment to promote the show.

Conflicting statistics from England? Only as reported by Faux News. There are no conflicting statistics. When any country in the world, (and this is consistent) has banned assault weapons, or any type of guns, homicides have gone done. There is no conflict except in who is reporting the truth, and who is reporting lies.

Thanks for your inforamtion. I was looking at information from The Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk). They seemed to provide legit data with a rise in homicide rates in 2007, 2008 and 2011 . I am not acquainted with Brittish or Australian news outlets. I would certainly not recommmend some news outlets in the United States. Do you happen to know, from reputable news sources only please, if there has been any correlation made that the gun ban was the actual causse of the drop in homicide rates? Australia is used as an example, but the government statistics show that the homicide rate had already been dropping before the gun ban. In that case, one can argue that the gun ban made no difference, that a shift in the population itself is the cause of the lower rate.

Our history is to welcome all from other countries and to encourage free speech especially from those we don't agree with. I absolutely agree with your point of view. I live in the rural south and I have never once seen a deer hunter with an assault weapon in the woods. The constant referral to Amendment framers not envisioning modern assault weapons ignores the obvious reality that the military back then didn't have them either. Today they do, so we need them too. FYI – I don't even own a gun and don't plan to...I'm just sayin'... The constant referral to military assault weapons in the citizens' hands that won't help much vs a tank or bazooka is a red herring too. With several hundred million weapons to protect ourselves we would at least have an overall chance of winning by way of "militia" in guerrilla style defense. It would be horrible. But as Britain has proved for centuries, it's certainly a potential reality – should we not remember our own little history?

What Pierce should bring up is WHY the 2nd amendment exists. Basically to protect the citizens from it's own government should it not be by/of/for the people. We are quietly losing control of our government as corporate influences have completely infiltrated our government. Democrats and republicans in power over the past 40 years have compromised our countries greatness for personal gain. The main stream media is purposefully absent on all issues regarding this. Are we heading toward exercising the 2nd amendment objectives (when young men are starving perhaps). So, that being said what chance do we have against modern military grade weapons, micro air vehicles, air power, versus an AR-15. Probably slim to none. Now that we have taken out the subjectivity, we can now say that an AR-15 or any other assault rifle can be banned without affecting the 2nd amendment. Having 9mm's is enough. Then the next question is how do you successfully take the millions of assault rifles away from people.

Your comment about AR-15's vs other military weapons is a red herring. The point is that if the well armed citizen militia that would need to be quickly created per the 2nd Amendment protections envisioned (which, without a few hundred millions of guns already being 'out there' to be available, organized and used to protect ourselves, would be rendered pretty meaningless) has millions upon millions of assault rifles we would at least have a chance against the advanced military weaponry which though powerful are fewer in number. Large numbers in guerrilla style defense can go a very long way against modern military...witness how this plays out elsewhere; as well as the clear historical fact that the unarmed get slaughtered by the thousands to millions by their gov'ts pretty dang easily. Like I said...I don't own a gun...don't plan to...but if we needed to defend ourselves against our own gov't I'll be dang glad a lot of neighbors planned ahead better than I did.

We need only look what we did with Sadam's million man army which included assault rifles, tanks, missiles, etc.. Our military wiped them out with minimal effort. If it comes down to house to house guerrilla tactics, maybe you have a point, but be assured, the guerrillas will lose especially if bacteriological or chemical warfare is waged. Who makes those war game decisions? The same type of selfless people that run Monsanto, big Pharma, big Oil, big Banks, their lawyers, etc..

I have yet to hear a satisfactory anwer to this question and the likes of Alex Jones only obscures the real issue here. ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION! WHY THE NEED FOR ASSAULT WEAPONS????!!!!!!

I am a supporter of 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms. Of course, when the second amendment was written there were no automatic, semi-automatic, armor-piercing weapons around; they had muskets.

I like guns: well-balanced, handcrafted, handguns such as a Colt revolver, Smith & Wesson six-shooter, Winchester 30-30 lever action rifle, Berretta over and under shotgun, and so on. Collectors love these oldies but goodies. They are not terribly precise, cannot be fired quickly, and are not mass-produced.

I have never owned anything more than a BB gun. I have enjoyed trap/skeet shooting, where the shooter uses a shotgun to shoot at clay pigeons. I have shot at tin cans and targets. I have never shot an animal, though I respect hunters who eat the game they shoot. I am not big on shooting animals for sport; I don’t see the point in it.

All of this being said, however, I do believe that Congress should pass comprehensive gun control legislation. We already have models in place such as those requirements for aviation and automotive vehicles where we require various classes of licensing, registration, background checks at least for health., and evidence of insurance. Gun regulation and control should be at least as stringent as they are for these.

    Gun owner’s responsibility

    • All gun owners should be required register their guns in the same way that automobile owners must register their vehicles. Registration should be annual.
    • Gun owners should be held accountable for the safekeeping of their guns. If their guns are sold, lost, or stolen, they should be responsible for reporting such loss or change of ownership.
    • If any gun is used in the commission of a felony, the gun owner should be held accountable as well as the gun user. The gun owner is responsible for demonstrating that the gun was in a locked and secure vault or cabinet at all times when not in the hands of the gunner owner. The owner is responsible for insuring that the gun does not fall into the hands of others without his/or her consent.
    • Background checks shall be required for all gun registrants. The extent of the background check shall depend upon the class of weapon owned.

    Gun users responsibility

    • Gun users must be licensed for the type or types of guns they use, similar to the requirements of the FAA for pilots.
    • Gun owners must receive adequate, supervised training for the guns they use.
    • Guns fall into several categories: sporting guns, e.g., shotguns, rifles of a certain caliber, etc., handguns, hunting guns, etc. Each type of gun or class of guns, or class of ammunition should require a different license.
    • Gun owners must carry their license and registration with them at all times when they are carrying or transporting their guns. Such license and registration shall be presented upon request to any law enforcement agency official.
    • Background checks shall be required for all gun users. The extent of the background check shall depend upon the class of weapon used.

    Availability of weapons

    • Collectors licenses: any person wishes to own more that 5 guns at any given time, he/she shall be considered a collector. Collectors are required to pass tests for each of the weapons in their possession and must register with law enforcement agencies. Requirements for collectors are more stringent that for individual owners, including more comprehensive background tests and psychological evaluation.
    • Gun range operators: Range owners and operators shall be fully licensed and inspected by law enforcement agencies.
    • Gun show sales: These are another class of collector as defined above. In addition, they should be required to assure that they have complied with the same standard of licensing as gun range operators. The must assure that those who purchase weapons from them have the requisite license and insurance as suggested below.
    • Individual owners: When a person rents a gun for use in a range, he or she must show evidence of licensing and insurance similar to the requirement for renting a plane or car.

    Assault Weapons

All assault weapons, military grade weapons, weapons designed primarily for law enforcement, may not be owned by or sold to sold to individuals. Certain types of these weapons may be available to duly licensed gun ranges specially equipped for such use for the sole purpose of educating and training of individuals who possess the requisite licensing for such training.

This would be similar to the rules in aviation where an individual can learn to fly certain classes of jet planes providing they have the requisite prior level pilot license. Just as certain military jets are not available for public use, certain classes and types of assault weapons, high velocity ammunition, automatic and semi-automatic weapons would not be available to the general public.
    Retroactivity and Enforcement

All of these requirements shall be applied retroactively, giving current gun collectors, range operators, retail sales stores, gun show participants, and gun owners ample time to comply.

Such regulations would permit any peace office to request proof of registration, licensing, and insurance in the manner as vehicles and aircraft. Violators would be subject to fines, confiscation of the weapon, and/or imprisonment for failure to comply.

If a weapon is used in the commission of a crime, both user and the registered owner or seller would be subject to penalties.

    Sincerely yours,

    Edward A, Dreyfus, Ph.D.

Transfer of guilt is a rediculous concept. Under that belief you are guilty for thousands of deaths because your taxes, paid to buy the weapons in the Fast and Furious deal. You need to turn yourself into the Mexican consulate immediately.

Maybe you should turn in that PhD, until you can base an argument that helps deal with the problem, rather than transfer blame from a criminal, to a Law abiding citizen, that was victimized by the theft!

Keep up the fight Piers. The 2nd Amendment was written when people were using muskets! They never dreamed that we would have guns that could hold so much ammunition, and cause so much carnage. No one back then had their own cannons! So where does the right to bear arms end? Assault weapons? hand grenades? morters? canons? tanks? The founding fathers also believed in slavery! Should we make that legal again?
These are different times. We don't HAVE to hunt for our food anymore. If you do want to hunt for food, and need thirty plus bullets to hit your target, you obviously can't shoot worth a damn!
i'm fifty years old and have a collection of swords and knives that number 54 in total. So i'm not against protection. I know you don't bring a knike to a gun fight, but you also don't bring an assault gun to go hunting.
Those children, and staff"s lives trumps your RIGHT to bear arms when it comes to assault weapons.
I owned a Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-automatic pistol, but sold it when I had my first daughter. When I hear peoples lives were SAVED because someone had an asault weapon I might change my mind, but you don't here that do you?

You will never hear that in the media, a firearm being used to stop a crime. There was just such an incident in San Antonio Texas. Not an "Assault Rifle", but a person stopped another gun tradgety by using a firearm. An off duty female deputy stopped a criminal that was going to shoot more people. Did not appear in the news. The shooting in Oregon mall was less than it could have been, due to an armed citizen that confronted the gunman just before he killed himself, you did not hear about that either. The media does not report these incidents. They do not improve ratings as much as a Sandy Hook type incident.

The musket argument is old and tired. The military had muskets back then and so did the 2nd amendment allow the militia, citizens to have muskets. The citizens are to have arms so the state does not have the monopoly of firearm power.

I agree with Piers Morgan that there are insane and "stupid" people in this world that can somehow justifiy military automatic weapons in the hands of soccer moms, an engineers, or Nascar dads: as well as gang members, the young boy trying make a name, and fringe and anti-government mitarist. For 100"s of years, a gun in a home was a shotgun, a rifle, or maybe a 6-shooter used for hunting, going to war or home protection. Back in the day, when the fastest firing gun was a gatlin gun, whose only purpose was a masterful killing machine used for war; no one thought this was an appropriate gun for a civilian to own. I don't see the difference in an automatic gun capapble of firing hundreds of bullets in seconds or guns with oversized clips. The only reason for guns like these are killing machines, and probably not for killing rabbits, doves or deer. If someone absolutely NEEDS the experience of firing a murder gun; allow lisenced and regulated gun ranges to provide these guns "of mass distruction" to try out. I believe: military mass killing guns should be banned from civilians. There should be more strengent rules and longer waiting perirods to buy a gun. To buy a gun should require also buying a gun lock, or lock box, and safety lessons on how to use guns correctly resulting in a certificate of gun use. We have to test to a liscence to drive a car, so lets have classes and test to get a liscence to own a gun. A perspective gun owner should provided fingerprints that would be added to the nations fingerprint systems. To resell a gun should require the same rules and background checks as buying a new gun, and if caught without the correct paper work would be illegal. . This would actually boost gun shop revenues who could handle the paperwork, background checks and gun safety classes on the sell and resell of guns. In this age of computer mastery, there is no reason that registered gun owners shouldn't be checked against any arrested individual. If they go to trial or to a hearing; registered guns in that individuals name should be confiscated. If eventually found guilty, the guns should be permanently confiscated. I personally would wish for complete gun confiscation, but that won't happen here in the US; and even most of the above logical precautions are just a pipe dream. Thanks

I feel that same for people that have their own armed security while blasting the NRA's recommendation. More facts need to be added. I am not saying this YouTube video is correct, but it does present some interesting ideas that need to be validated. http://youtu.be/WMKbSYoduis Gun control activist and Gun Rights activist have the same goal, Safety. However they are on different sides as to how. As a gun rights owner and volunteer with the police department. I have guns because 1) police response times 2) criminals may have them. Please interview cops in a candid response to how they view self defense for their own family ( armed & trained). Interview criminals how they view gun bans. Most gun related crimes are committed with handguns... Is that next to be banned? Guns were confiscated and banned during Katrina, were people any safer? Will people be safer from new restrictions? Will Mexico sell the Fast and Furious guns to gangs in the US?

Legally owned guns to protect yourself or to hunt with (although, personally, I don't think that's a fun sport), in your own home are not the issue. 34. A Citezen of these United States

I am neither a far right, nor far left affiliate. I am a citizen of these United States. The Right to Keep and Bear Arms is the law of the land. It does not say "regulate" the "people". It says, "A well regulated Militia,{comma} being necessary to the security of a free State,{comma} the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,{comma} shall not be infringed."

With all of the recent events and the pundits calling for the abolition of the Second Amendment to these United States understand that there would not be a United States without firearms.

I grew up in a center left household with a split family. My father was a union rep for a major railroad and my mother was part of a union for maids in Las Vegas.

My stepfather taught me how to shoot at the age of 4. I received my first .22 pump action rifle at the age of 7. I went hunting with my father at the age of 13 in Northern California with a 44/20 gauge single shot rifle. (I never got a deer that year but blew the hell out of some stumps).

Now you might be wondering why I'm putting my history in here.

I'm putting this in here to let everyone know that it is not a left or a right paradigm. You have an unalienable right brought to you by your creator to protect yourself, your family, your property and your fellow citizens of these United States.

Please give this a read, it is very long, but very well written for the right of a free people to defend themselves against all things evil be they hiding in the shadows or looking at you through a one way mirror.

That's what scares me...that there are millions of people out there just like you who own guns. Millions who may or may not be able to use them responsibly. And millions who may not be of right mind. It scares me that there is talk about guns rather than the people who use them. Since it is difficult to regulate the people who use guns and perhaps easier to control the guns, we choose to put the emphasis on the guns. The real issue is regulating access, stringent licensing of users, levels of licensing and renewal depending on the weapon involved, and registration of all guns in the same manner that we regulate automobiles, aircraft, pilots, and drivers. Just as I would not want drunk piloting a 747, I would not want a drunk using an AR- 15-22.

High round mags are no different than taking 2-10 round mags and duck taping them together=20. It only slows a shooter down for 1 second. 2nd, If the ban is implimented I can not pass down my tool/gun down to my daughter after i am dead. It must be turned into govt for destruction. Gun ownership comes with a great responsibility. A person in America can be old enough to own a gun, and also does not has to be smart enough. I am not one of those people. Frankly, if our govt really cared about "We the people" then I suggest this.......rather than politions submitting proposals on what is legal and what is not. I would be in favor on a ballot for all legal US citizens whom are registered voters, to vote on the gun ban issue. 51% rules! And that is that. Then, the people will feel more power. After all, it is about us. We the people. Not we the congress. Congress only exists because we the people allow them to. Power to the people. Not govt. On the other hand, the 2nd amendment is a right. It should never be amended ever, unless, the people put it to a vote. I am willing to bet if our govt allowed the people to vote on all issues this country would be better off and safer. I do not agree with a small group of politions making decisions for all of America. This govt is to big. And thus is why our govt is willing to ban guns because they are scared the people will or has more power than them and they could be over whelmed with what I call.......control, alt and dellete. PM has subjective views and thus is why many dislike him. If he were more objective then perhaps people might listen to him. But if anyone were to do some serious research on numbers, deaths, objects involved, mental health and justice system issues......rifles are not the issue. The problem in America is just too large and too complexed. This govt has been a failure and will be for yrs. to come. Sad really. My family are law abiding gun owners. We own a 22. A tool. A weapon if we decide to make it one. We work.. We spend $. We pay taxes. We are a middle class family. We will always stick to our guns sort of speak and never bow to a govt who only wants control over its people. Ty for your comment. I frankly expect someone to reply with less than ignorant comments. :). God bless America and We the people will always have the right to choose. I choose to be armed.

No restictions to anyone who already owns a gun. Period. However, anyone who wants a gun in the future I am in favor for a psych eval that will determine if the buyer has a healthy mind. Not too mention the FBI approval for which is already in place. Cost of the eval would be paid by the gun applicant. This is more reasonable than control and regulation.

How about requiring INSURANCE for guns ??!!!
We are required to have insurance for cars (which can also cause third party injury).
    Why not for guns?
Government can regulate gun ownership, and requiring insurance sounds logical. This appears to be the capitalist answer - let the market decide, if someone can satisfy an insurance that they are responsible their premium will be smaller. Maybe insurers would provide a discount for a mental assessment, or additional training.

This makes sense. They are responsible gun owners, right? So they should be responsible for how their guns are used and accountable for safety.

I agree. It works perfectly in line with the capitalist system, that we cherish so much in this country. The insurance industry will figure out the best formula to keep the guns out of the hands of people who are likely to abuse their right to a gun.

I hear nothing but emotional fools being played. First off, people keep saying assault weapons when in fact they are NOT. Put any of the weapons in the hands of a real soldier and he/she will just laugh at you because these are weapons that LOOK like military weapons but are in FACT not.

Second, when most of the British Commonwealth countries banned all weapons (yes, ALL), gun crime went down, but violent crime went UP because criminals know their victims are disarmed.

Third, the 2nd Amendment is part of the Bill of Rights. Rights...not privileges, not "we will allow you", or anything of the sort. It is not about hunting nor is it about home protection: it is about "...the security of a free state...". Try and demonize all you want Piers (and others of his ilk), but that phrase is aimed straight at gov't overstepping its authority.

Fourth, Mexico is a GREAT example of a country where only police and criminals are armed. In fact, it is hard to tell them apart at times. Imagine if the regular person in Mexico could defend themselves? Why is Mexico never brought up as a shining example of pure gun control? D.C., Baltimore, Camden, Detroit, and Chicago are ALL shining examples of gun control, yet they have the highest murder rates in the nation. Why?? Because ONLY criminals have guns and the regular person lives in fear because they have no means of protection.

Fifth, the do gooder touchy feely types that are creating gun free this and that are feeding this problem by creating illusions of safety when in fact YOU are creating the perfect situation for mass killings. Stop! The only places we are seeing these mass murders is in "gun free" places utopian blinded fools are creating. Just check Europe for mass murders and look what Google pops up. 99.9% of the people around you are fine folks, but there is always that one person that WE must protect ourselves from and it is because of evil people that we MUST be able to protect ourselves with deadly force if necessary.

I could go on, but I believe I've made my point. This emotional decision making has consequences for America and listening to bleeding heart people that use tragedies for political gain is a road paved to a place we don't want to go as a nation.

Up Yours Piers Morgan!!! Taking the guns out of the hands of citizens doesn't take the guns out of the hands of criminals...If 15,000 citizens were murdered by criminals with guns, then they should of had a gun to save themselves from being murdered...The cops are helpless to stop criminals unless they shoot at the police.

I am listening to the mouth piece of the NWO Morgan, spew is hate of our nations laws. The law in the USA says everyone of us has a right to self defense against anyone, be they a young man high on prescription drugs a psychiatrist insisted he be on, or a agent of government intent on either his own criminal desires or the criminal intent of the government supervisor or chief he answers to. Our nation was founded when Great Britain tried to take our guns. Our ancestors told the King and his solders to come and take them if you can. What do most gun owners say today to Morgan and the NWO? Come and take them if you can. SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR NWO, it will be obliterated with the people standing with it.

    Piers,
    1. Stop antagonizing your listeners and those you're debating using the phrases "blown to bits" regarding small children 2. Stop using a macro scale to say the US has the worst gun violence of any nation. On the macro yes, however WE DON'T HAVE CONSISTENT GUN LAWS COUNTY TO COUNTY STATE TO STATE like the UK & Europe. Places like Chicago and DC which have the most prohibitive gun laws in the US are the most violent. There's an undeniable connection there. We also have over 300MM weapons in the US how many decades of oppression and fear from violence will we have to endure to full go weapons free?

Morgan keeps bringing up the crime @ Sandy hook. He seems to be hanging on those poor defenseless victims, as if his talking about them could have defended them. What could have saved them all, would have been one person at the seen taking aim at the man that did the crime and killing him on the spot. The reason no one could have done that, is the law said no one is allowed to bring a gun on the school grounds. Notice only the law abiding people give a dam about the law. The mass murderer, only cared about the fact the law protected him from being shot and killed in defense of the kids he mass murdered. Did the video games put him up to it, did the drugs he was on put him up to it, did his psychiatrist put him up to it, was it a false flag terror attack by our government? Those are all question, but no one was there to protect the kids, none of the teachers, none of the administrators, no one and that is the way the law demanded it be.

Let's just say you are sleeping in your bed tonight, your children sound asleep in their rooms, and suddenly you are awaken by the sound of your livingroom window being pried open. You send your husband to investigate the noise and he screams back at you "honey get the kids!" You jump out of bed and rush to the kids. You are scared because you've never heard your husband sound so afraid before. You hear shouting and your furniture crashing in the other room. Thankfully you have your cell phone and you call 911. (And why are you calling 911? Is it; because you want someone with a gun to show up? Maybe, maybe not.) So you get through to 911 as you hear your husband scream, your children are sobbing and clinging to you. You are all terrified of the unknown coming from your living room. Then suddenly the kids door flies open and an intruder is standing there with a knife in his hands, You see his face the crazed look in his eyes. You start to cry as you nitice blood on his face. Before you know it your are fighting for your life and for your childrens's lives becuase this psychopath is trying to slay you. But you won't know if the police ever show up becuase you are dead.

I know there is a really low probability of this ever happening to you. But it is more likely that an intruder will break into your house than your children being shot at school.....

Owning a gun does not mean that something bad won't happen to you, but it gives you an advantage. Just look up Luby's massacre and see what survivor Suzanna Gratia Hupp has to say about the second amendment and gun ownership, or look up what happened at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

I got my gun and I know how to use it!

It was not until recently that I re-read the 2nd ammendment of the Bill of Rights since American History. For years, I believed the NRA and pro-gun retoric that the 2nd ammendment specifically states that our right to bear arms is protected. After hearing a CNN interview, I realized it was not that straight forward. After reading the 2nd ammendment,I realized that our founding fathers seem to have something different in mind. Those against gun control seem to ignore the first statement, and by the position in the ammendment I would think is the primary point: the first phrase in the 2nd ammendment is "Because a well-regulated militia is necessary to national security...". Then, the second statement is ..."the right of the people to keep and bear arms may not be infringed." To me this means the right to bear arms is tied to having a country of people with weapons that they would take with them, if a there was a war and individuals required for a national militia. Over most of the last century, any one who volunteered or was drafted into military service were provided with required weaponry. Therefore, the right stated in the 2nd ammendment really is obsolete. But, more than that, it certainly does NOT give any protection for a citizen to own military quality and style weapons. I don't believe our fore fathers could have ever have envisioned a regular citizen whelding a military killing machine whose use should be for war. I can understand a shotgun, a rifle, a pistol or a revolver with a regular size clip for use for hunting, home protection, target shooting. But I can't understand a military weapon that can discharge so many bullets in seconds being in the hands of anyone but trained military personel. I know many don't agree with this, but I can't agree with children being mowed down by high tech military weapons. Seems we should be able to reach some compromise.

I concur with you Barb. It says well regulated militia and that means regulated by the Majority. In todays world it doesn't mean regulated by the NRA or the gun manufacturers. The NRA is suffering from megalomania and I want to let them know that they, the manufacturers, and their lobbyists are not in control. We, the majority are the ones that determine what the rules should be.

Mike Russell If I as an American want change and the majority of America wants change , and in this case, common sense changes; then its change we shall have regardless of what the minority might have to say about it. We look at the issues, we figure out what is wrong and then we fix it. Simply put, that is how it works in the USA. The NRA and the gun manufacturers don't make the rules. Actually they are most responsible for the proliferation of guns in our streets and doing so by using their own interpretation of the second amendment. Those two are joined at the hip and it is time for change. I am a veteran and a long time gun enthusiast and as a member of the majority of America I SUPPORT change, and the time is now. I will not relent and I join a bi-partison effort for change.

And if you are dumb enough to believe that a well-spoken charismatic leader will never deceive the masses again you’re a fool. It is our Right to protect ourselves. I have this question for Piers – In a country where rule of law is central to a democracy; in the last 50 years, how many police officers (including FBI & ATF & Customs) have been shot at, injured or died in the course of their duties? For that matter, EMS and Fire Officers? These are the primary people who are in direct line of gun policies – they should have a valid insight on gun laws.

Mike Russell Today we live in an extremely complex world. From the days of our independence to present day, it is a very different world . Nothing anywhere remains static for to long. The world is dynamic. That means it is ever changing from one day to the next. You cannot keep up these insane ,static, arguments in this ever changing world. If you can not except change you are "doomed". When I see atrocities like Columbine, and Aurora, and most recently the worst I have ever seen, Newtown, as well as all the others of the past, I now know that we need some changes made not later, but right now. I want to see some sort of sensible changes made to our gun laws and so do the vast majority of Americans. What ever these changes will be, they will not be about taking your ever precious guns away. Regulation I can see. Registration I can see. The 2nd amendment is not changing. Automatics do not belong in the hands of the general public. High capacity magazines of more than 10 rds.should be outlawed immediately. Whatever changes are to come, I would hope there would be a Penalty to those who chose not to abide by these changes.

      Mike,
I have read several of your posts and responses and I appreciate your logical arguments and points. I agree that these issues need addressing now! Our culture is so huge that crazy, deranged and depraved people can hide in our society with ease; and apparently have no problems getting guns whose only purpose is for killing. It would at least help some if these killing guns weren't available. Thank you for sharing your points of view.

Gauging from discourse such as we heard last night, and the heat around this debate, are we wise to simply go after semi automatic weapons and large capacity clips? Might we better start this debate shooting for the stars (no pun intended)? I think the second amendment is no longer valid in present times, and that we need gun laws to regulate what can be owned, who can own them, where they can be carried and used, and what criteria one must meet to be a gun owner, full stop.

This whole issue of gun control is more about people that do not want to be bothered with even thinking about reality. They know when they get in the car, if they screw up as a driver, they could die in a bad accident, they know if someone else screws up badly they might become a victim of that persons accident, and they know if they do not drive defensively looking out for not only how well they drive but to avoid other people's accidents. So most people just drive and accidents happen and people die, most of them could have been saved if more people paid attention. That is true for guns, not enough people own them, not enough people carry them, and not enough people are ready to come to aid of people under attack. It is to dam much bother even thinking about it let alone physically having a gun on you, then the government harassment of gun owners kicks in and it is a wonder any of us are ready to kill men like the sandy hook mass murderer in the act. This is the reason more crime is not stopped with guns, so many people just do not have the time, energy, or will to arm themselves and be ready. And that is exactly what the UN and the NWO wants for us to be subject to any kind of tyranny they bring in.

The whole time, I saw Pierce so calm and could see that he was setting Alex up to draw a big contrast. This will give Pierce ammo (no pun intended) to rant on future opposing guests. Yes, but he doesn't know how to deliver his message. Big pharma is cashing in on psycho, cancer, and whatever else they can conjure up and/or create from toxic foods uncontrolled by the FDA/EPA. There ARE things going on in the country that the media is avoiding because they are part of corporate family. We have no true investigative journalism as all are either scared or need to make a living. It really does seem that our system has been compromised by those who would grab all the power and wealth for themselves at the demise of others and ultimately our American greatness. It is quite obvious. We shipped out all of our jobs, bankrupted out country, got a large population of the planet to hate us, reduced education to a joke relative to countries like India and China, allowed massive amounts of chemicals into our food supply, etc.. Does that seem like something someone would do to a fellow American. This is probably why we now have crazy people like Alex running around. I call upon the rich and powerful to fix this problem ASAP or they will not be able to live in their utopia.

It’s unfortunate that it’s so often difficult to have a rational and meaningful debate on the issue of gun rights and control. The guest Alex Jones’ refusal to have a discussion doesn’t further the issue in any way. Frankly, it scares me to think people with such tempers have guns. The Second Amendment became law in 1791 and provides, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Who’s “regulating” Mr. Jones’ militia? The incredible military advances made since 1791 make it so our government could commit mass murder no matter how many guns the people have. Thus, it’s a poor argument that the guns are needed to protect against our government which has jets, drones, missiles, chemical weapons, etc.

The United States does not need semi automatic weapons available to everyday citizens. They kill many people in a short amount of time. A hand gun should be enough to protect whom ever needs protecting. The whole concept of carrying around weapons is completely bizarre to civilized countries. The US seems to be regressing into an extremely scary nation where violence is commonplace. It is completely false that more guns means less violence. The guest tonight is a prime example of why the general population should not be armed with semi-automatic weapons. He was out of control and made such a fool out of himself. His mocking of Piers was embarrasing. I think he will look back on that interview and have huge regrets, because no one will side with a raving lunatic. He was rambling because he had himself so worked up and he didn't make one credible point. He couldn't even answer Pier's questions. He damaged the case for upholding the second ammendment tonight.

Let us all also keep in mind the deaths due to the America healthcare system in 2011 and the number of deaths from that ... let's see ... 220,000+ people died due to medical errors an dprescribed drug complications in the USA ... About 15 TIMES more than guns killed ... even more than cars killed ... hmmm perspectives are good to have ...

Reasonable point, I just think a loss of perspective to the entire issue can only be counter productive, as quite often happens. Columbine, Sandy hook, Holmes - Batman, all on prescribed psychotropics ... hard not to bring up drugs ... isn't it?

      January 7, 2013 at 11:20 pm | Report abuse | Reply
  124. masterwasp

Let's get to the heart of this right now.

Did guns do the killing? NO. They were the instrument though. Did the person do the killing? Maybe. But consider this: In both the Batman theater shooting and Sandy Hook, the common denominator was PRESCRIBED PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS! Big brand pharmaceutical psychotropic drugs were the common denominator, not even the gun types. The drugs were, and these are NOT rec drugs!!!! It behooves us to see the widest perspective possible and make the connections - the Sandy Hook shooter didn't take his rifle from the trunk of his car (look it up).

We should be scrutinizing big pharma and the drugs they force down our throats for our "betterment" yet if you think about it, what trillion dollar company wants to put itself out of business? Big Pharma works hard to keep it a trillion dollar industry - by keeping you sick ... really think about that for a minute ...

In closing Britain has the highest violent crime rate per capita - MORE THAN USA!!! Congratulations Britain! You got rid of your guns and your violent crime rate soared ... makes NO difference!!!

Hahahaha! Rockets, Armed Drones and Bombs kill more people than gun can but nobody is doing something to prevent the Rebels and Terrorist getting access to it. The govt. can spend Billions or even Trillions of Dollars to deploy troops to other country but can not even provided security on public places. HOW STUPID IS THAT?? What if the so called "Terrorist" attack? WOW! it is really amazing how many stupid people live in this world.

Thank you Piers Morgan for showing the underbelly of the gun culture...I tuned in late but whoever the clown was you had on representing the gun culture he is a prime example of the crazies that have manipulated the 2nd amendment into a pretext for insanity... I am politically to the right of Atilla the Hun and I have a defensive weapon but the militarization of civilian society is out of hand.. Where the hell are our leaders on this?

Piers – Why do you choose to interview people who are on the extreme fringe of the gun control issue? Your intent is obviously to make yourself, and your point of view, look superior to those with the opposing view. But you do not select guests who can intelligently, logically, and politely articulate the opposing view. This is both unprofessional and irresponsible of you as a journalist. There are plenty of gun owners in our country who are smart, responsible, compassionate, and articulate. But you wouldn't want to interview them because you wouldn't look as good and get as many people siding with you. Grow up Piers! Show us a real debate and some honest journalism!

Where is YOUR moral outrage here yourself? Or are you a sociopath yourself? Piers is brave enough to bring this hideous issue out in the open. WE ALL NEED a serious conversation about the issue of assault weapons. Piers is only expressing outrage here like most of us are and want an answer to this.

All these people on here commenting are judging the messenger and not looking at the message itself. Yes Alex went off on Piers, that is evident. And he was very loud, true. But Alex knew he had to go into this "interview" or "debate" full steam ahead because Piers being the host of his show on a network that is funded by Rothchild controlled banking cartels all too often directs every debate and steers the conversation to suit the state controlled narrative. So Alex Jones had to shoot off actual facts that he didnt make up but that he actually got from the official FBI.GOV website. All his info was taken from that. Then Piers had to change the subject and tried to steer the conversation from Gun control to 911. People here are reacting to this debate soooooooooo quickly only basing their opinions on what they saw in the 10 minutes that Alex was allowed to speak or yell whatever you want to call it. But they dont do their OWN investigation into the data or information which is just ignorant. Einstein said that condemnation without investigation is the essence of ignorance. Then after he knew he couldnt take the overload of facts and info he sends Alex off and brings in his buddy to defend him becuz Piers couldnt defend himself. Quite laughable actually. I challenge people to just think for yourself, dont listen to Alex dont listen to Piers investigate things for yourself. See it with your very own eyes.

Thank you for exposing to the world how dangerous these dopes (Alex Jones &co.) are. It was amazing to watch how he could not even maintain his composure or contribute a single positive argument in the defense of his "cause". The so called second ammendment is not a divine creation; after all it is man made, written at a time when society and people were not producing severe cases such as this guy. Strangely enough, even though he does not believe that the government is benevolent, which is why he belives he needs to be armed, however he does not hesitate to cite the government's published crime statistics (FBI) to drive his point. Is there no way to kindly relieve these people of their miserable lives?

People are calling for our mental health to be revamp. Would you guys agree that Alex should not owe a gun? if people like him should own a gun, then why not the lunatics? His behavior was obviously the epitome of madness, and I suggest the law enforcement agencies should be at his heels for his own safety and for the safety of others. You don't think he would have shot Piers if he had a gun? Crazy man!!!!

I cant agree more ... except that I do believe that people from the armed forces who are Serving or Veterans with honorable discharge should be able to get AR-15 because so far I did not hear that a Soldier or a Veteran used this weapon to create a massacre here in the US..

I am from Europe like Piers (not from the UK like him) I am married to an Army Soldier for 11 yrs. who served in combat 3 times for this country and is a gun fanatic. I on the other hand do not like guns. I hate gun because I did not grew up with guns or in an environment where a lot of guns were used guns are dangerous in my eye, but I respect the rights and the view of the American people. My children are americans. Believe me we had many discussions on owing a gun due to our children but as I said I respect the view of the Americans ther for my Husbands.
My comment on all this is one thing...
Yes as an american you have the right to bear arms...and your should... if it is for governmet or for your family or business what ever ....for your protection that is how I understand the 2nd amendment.
But as a foreigner who lives in america over 10 yrs I am asking doesnt a regular Hand gun or a rifle fulfill this???
Why does it need to be a semi automatic ???
It wasnt hand guns or rifles that was used in the past 6 months massacres other wise I doubt it would had been massacres. We need a strikter law to reduce the massacres ( I doubt we can reduce the violence) those masive and many killings in 1-2 min.
I do believe even the once who are for this stupid crap of deporting Piers, the people who are furious about this and want to protect their right can agree with that. Its not realy about the right to bear arm...it is about not the right of killing inocent children and adults in less then 2 min. and unfortunatly a knife or a bat does not do that.
We dont need massive shootings where inocent people get killed like in the eastern Countries everyday.

My concern about guns is people like Alex have a hidden agenda, They are preparing for a war whether its racial or Government. People like him scare me because they are probably hording assault guns in some camp or even support radical groups like the KKK. I do believe people should have the right to bear arms but lets get a hold on how and who has access to these weapons. I myself now feel like I need to have guns at home to protect myself from people like him.. He discriminated Piers Morgan and I am sure he feels that way about other groups of Americans....not the first time I've heard people say " We should deport people back where they come from." I have served 20 years in the Armed Forces and I may not believe in all the Government does but it is my Government and their are ways to handle these problems. The Armed Forces, Police and CIA or FBI are our neighbors, friends, family and citizens so i doubt we will go into a civil war..

Why not get passionate? If they have their way we'll all be walking around like stepford people; afraid that a drone might notice our voice got too high or anger was detected. Bless Alex Jones, he's living and breathing this stuff 24 hours a day so he can spread the word; big brother isn't coming; big brother is here. I don't have to agree with everything he says; but he's telling us things that are not shared on television. I have listened to him for decades it seems; I have never seen him this rabid; but I understand why. It's frustrating as hell when most people are dead asleep on their watch; pay attention; democracy requires participation and read his website for those who find his conviction an assault.

He blew the deal. Too aggressive and out of control. The mechanism for executing democracy is broken so we need to find a new method. Write to your congressman... really??? I can just see it now, Joe congressman reading emails from citizens, then going to countless daily meetings with lobbyists and corporation and doing what is right for his/her career and family wealth. Nice. Our only hope is the Internet and social media. Through it we can reveal the truth to the masses and then have a real debate on who is making the right decisions toward making America great once again.

So, let's try to understand each other... the American's who wish to own military assault style weapons are waiting for their democracy to fail, for anarchy to set in, and to then defend their homes with military assault weapons to protect themselves.
They are waiting for the day it will be necessary to gun down hundreds of people swarming their homes in a thirty second period of time. The homeowner's will shoot out their windows against anyone on their property- neighbour's seeking food or shelter, military seeking to secure the area, even children swarming the yard to play. The homeowner' s will sit with their endless stocks of food, water, ammunition and prepare for decades of fighting the enemy within America.

Why not talk about these fears as they seem quite central to why American's are buying enough ammunition to kill thousands of people in order to protect themselves. If the end is coming to the American democracy, and we are all going to collapse into something quite cataclysmic in terms of society, we should also talk about how we are going to help each other... rather than to assume the solution is to have more bodies than one could even burry piled up on our front lawns, and in our back yards.

When the gun owner feels that the brave men and women in the American military is not loyal to all American's, it seems like quite an insult to them. As a non-American, who has met many military and their families while in California many years ago, these people were and remain the best, the bravest and most loyal of peoples in my experiences with them.

So, Sandy Hook's little children and their teacher's do not matter, because banning the weapons that kill and terrorize American's children in school is less important than the bigger issue... preparing for the end days of the american republic.

The reality is that American's do not need these weapons of mass terror and destruction. They need for their children to be safe in school and free from terror. Any one of my daughter's teacher's could disarm someone with a knife by throwing a chair at them. An assault weapon is impossible, just impossible.

For those American's who buy guns, they should carry insurance in the event that their weapons are used to kill innocent people. When a parent has a son who is mentally unstable in any way, this parent needs to keep their military assault weapons at a gun shop or somewhere off the premises. A hand gun or simple rifle should be enough protection within the home. One does not need more than a hand gun or riffle to go to school, attend a movie or pick up groceries.

As a non- American, I'm wondering when your neighbour's will need rocket launchers, guided missiles and drones airplanes in the garage, just in case a homeowner wants to kill the hordes of fellow America's well before they reach their own property lines.

Perhaps everyone in America needs to calm down... Piers Morgan is not leading the charge for the British to invade America.... he seems to be speaking for those who can not speak anymore... those perfectly innocent little children from Sandy Hook, who did not deserve to have dozens of bullets shred their tiny little bodies, ripping the life from them.

God bless you all down there, in America... We sleep just fine without a gun in our home. If there is a disaster and looter's are everywhere, we will go to a save place and prepare to start our lives over when law and order is restored to us.

We have a little boy and a teenage daughter. Our toddler would put the gun in his mouth and then squeeze the trigger out of curiosity. Our daughter would know where it is in the house, as she knows where all the hidden things... she has been bullied severely in school and we would not want her to have access to any weapon.

SO, most families are this way... we need to look at the real threats to our safety, rather than engage our time worrying about the end days of your democracy. Sandy Hook can happen anywhere in America- that is now. Deal with threats to your children now. The end days preparation will not matter if your child does not come home from school alive.

Too bad Alex Jones isn't civilized or respectful. If his goal was to prove that he is aggressive, obnoxious, irrational, and an abusive loud mouth then I guess he was successful. I tuned out after the first break beacause I was sick of listening to Alex's tirade. He had a lot to say but nothing intelligent. It is frightening to think that this individual has weapons. Maybe he needs a mental health evaluation before he snaps and causes the next gun tragedy. He acted like he was trying to start a fist fight. I wonder if he was the school yard bully. He is an embarrassment to those of us who are rational reponsible gun owners.

After the first 30 seconds, I found myself hoping that two burly mental health workers would sweep out onto the set with a butterfly net and a straight jacket and cart this idiot away to the funny farm. Piers has had some very animated, opinionate people on his show, but this was beyong the pale. To me, Morgan's guest totally made the case why firearms need to be kept out of the hands of certain people. Piers also made a great point by saying that we Americans have to have an open discussion on the fears of many that somehow having a basement full of firearms is the only thing standing between our democracy and a new dictatorship. And to everyone who tuned before the show moved on, you missed some very valuable assessments and comments by Alan Dershowitz and the two Kenney cousins. Stand your ground Piers

As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother I have always been interested in the welfare of our children. Last nights interview with the gentleman who supports the NRA's position on gun control was an example of uncontrollable outrage against Piers Morgan who only attempted to interview him and present his viewpoint. Today I read the following article on my Facebook Page and thought this would be a lot more convincing than the outrage Piers' Guest presented. I do not and have not liked guns since I was a child because I witness a gun accident victim at the age of 8. But it was the fault of the person with the gun who caused the accident not the gun itself. Here is the article I wish to contribute. Thank you and keep up the good work of presenting thought provoking stories.

Guess our national leaders didn’t expect this. On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.
They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness.. The following is a portion of the transcript:
“Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.
“The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain’s heart.
“In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA – because I don’t believe that they are responsible for my daughter’s death.
Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel’s murder I would be their strongest opponent.
I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy — it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.
Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
    Your words are empty air.
    You’ve stripped away our heritage,
    You’ve outlawed simple prayer.
    Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
    And precious children die.
    You seek for answers everywhere,
    And ask the question “Why?”
    You regulate restrictive laws,
    Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!
“Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation’s history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine’s tragedy occurs — politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.
“As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA — I give to you a sincere challenge.. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone!
My daughter’s death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!”
    - Darrell Scott
Do what the media did not – – let the nation hear this man’s speech. Please send this out to everyone you can.
    God Bless

FAST/FURIUOS obama admintration did a great job handling that. How many fully automatic weapons where given to criminals. Did they do a background check on them?

Pierce Morgan just called the mentally challenged "Crazy People" after a long discussion including mental health on Anderson Cooper.

So let me get this straight. Since the Bill of Rights is supposed to limit the powers of government, the second amendment is telling the government how to regulate itself? Get out of your fantasy world guys you are a embarrassment. Thank God there are still dictionaries surviving today that tell us exactly what the word "regulated" means.

And maybe you should learn how to read (the second amendment) and how to write. Moron is the correct spelling.

Go Alex open the lame sheeple's eyes to the truth. All these main stream media brain washed gun haters. Who are they to say what the "right" of the law abiding is? I say if ya don't want a firearm " semi-auto" or what ever DON'T BUY ONE! Then when ur ask is in trubble from a robber or murderer or the criminal gangster don't call me or exspect me to use my semi-auto conseal carry weapon to defend you or your family. You better call your 2nd responders the police. Cause like all you brain washed gun haters say, " When seconds count the police are ONLY minutes away".
    Go Alex ..............:...:

It appears you might be the individual that has been brainwashed. I own handguns and shotguns, and I am quite capable of defending myself with them. I do not need an assault riffle to keep the neighborhood thief out of my home. As for the U.S. coming to take down my neighborhood, I am sure that my state's national guard / militia will have something to say / do about that. Please reach down deep and rescue your common sense.

Oh yeah just like in Katrina right? when they went in and disarmed all the citizens even the ones that were defending themselves from hoards of rapin, thieving hoodlums, leaving innocent people defendless, and then they government and police didn't want to go in because it was "too dangerous", oh but better yet they paid a mercenary company called Black water to do the job as if they were a police force but they were really a private company and they took advantage of people too, cops did nothing, bet you didnt hear that in the news huh, no because CNN is just brainwashing you showing images of how our government is soo good look it up on google, good luck with the debt by the way.

Great Point! I totally agree. What if the Sandy Hook shooter's mother was content to protect herself with a typical handgun or rifle? It sickens me to think this tragedy could have been so easily prevented - I can't imagine being a parent of one of these victims and coping with that thought. For their sake, the silent majority needs to stand up and insist on some change.
