READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
On Monday, radio personality Alex Jones joined "Piers Morgan Tonight" for a live interview, during which he spoke candidly with Piers Morgan, explaining why he's petitioning to have the host deported, and why he feels so strongly about the right to bear arms.
In a riveting and combative conversation, the host of the "Alex Jones Show" yelled his way through Morgan’s questions - ranting about everything from the Second Amendment to his theories on 9/11.
But on the heels of yesterday's fascinating sit down, how did the rest of the media world react to the interview?
» Business Insider said Alex Jones "went berserk" on Piers Morgan.
» Mediaite tuned in to the ‘the best advertisement for gun control’.
» Politico spoke exclusively to Piers Morgan this morning.
» The Atlantic Wire noted Jones "loses it" on Piers Morgan's show.
» TIME (part of the Time Warner family) says last night's show should have been titled "Morgan v. Jones."
» The Guardian wrote Jones "rants in face of his nemesis."
» The Daily Mail called it an "explosive showdown."

Piers I hate to say it but in my opion that guy is exactly the profile we do not want to have access to any type of gun. This man is a danger to all of us as well as himself. He needs to live in a state that has a large mental health budget.
nice one. you just said it all.
This Alex Jones, a third-tier radio talk host who seems to be completely saturated in bug-eyed paranoia and comic book level conspiracy theories, is the most rude, boorish, unhinged, hysterical and deranged media personality I have ever seen.
Are we sure this isn't just some bizzaro act?
There is something fishy about someone who acts this wacky.
I watched this. There was something Hitleresque about the way Jones raved and gesticulated. Something not right about the whole thing. It is understandable why Americans feel that their security is in their own hands but this man is does not represent the average man/woman. Kudos to Mr. Morgan for keeping himself under control. That said, Mr. Morgan lives in a protected bubble. He needs to see how the other half live. God help America.
Listen up fella, you have no idea who have woken up, aka., the sleeping giant.
You also don't realize what your accusing and labeling someone as, got it?
I tried to write to the Editor of Alex Jones and then decided, NOPE. I don't need a crazed idiot coming after me. If the man had a valid point, he sure didn't get it across. I sat with my jaw open, shaking my head when I saw this Alex Jones character. He is not only a poster child of mental health sufferers and the reason they should not possess guns, but he appears to be a candidate for involuntary commitment. It appears he cannot control himself in a decent and mature manner, therefore, he should not handle, nor possess any of his 50+ weapons. And maybe he wasn't mimicking Piers' accent, but his other personality took over. I have never seen such a violent and stupid person in my life. I wonder what Daddy did to him...
Alex is the best ! INFOWARS.com :)))
Why is Morgan even in our country? He needs to go HOME. We DON"T love him. GO HOME
and why is that becuase he's right. Alex might sound crazy but he's not he speaks truth. Study what he mentioned in the interview the foriegn banks that have taken the Unites States over. "ar-15" is nothing compared to what the government has in store for the people. Drones Real ID Cards come on can you not see the line in the sand this is tyranny. If you trust you government with your life then so be it but leave the ones that are preparing for agenda 21 alone. You have the right not to defend yourself i have the right to defend myself
I looked up tyranny in the dictionary: The rule of a tyrant:depostic exercise of power :cruel government; severity;oppression. A tryant is one who had usurped the ruling power without the consent of the people or at the expense of the existing government; a usuper; hence a monarch or other ruler or master who uses power to oppress those under him;a cruel soverign or an oppressor. I'm am not seeing the United States in this light. Go to India or Syria and there you can get a big old dose. Why worry about arming oneself and start action against these evils before they happen. I assume you like where you live, you pay taxes, you use electricity, you have clean running water and you have emergency services, all provided by the government and approved by the people. It really isn't that bad. And I wouldn't hang too close to your friend Alex in times of trouble, you'll likely get shot by the same guns he owns.
I personally noticed a recurring pattern. Anyone who is very much pro second ammendment are demonized as child haters, radicals, mentally ill, heartless, insane, and in frequent cases as terrorists. You probably believe that a plane could have fit in the hole left in the Pentagon during 9/11. Reality is replaced with the official story. I will believe the official story if it is reasonable, but when is that? I have yet to find reality. I have found it. Not in the mainstream. Do yourself a great favour and turn from the sophisticated brainwashing found within networks such as this. Wake up and relize there is a war on for your mind.
You need help
M D; You may have a point. But Piers knew just what to day and how to couch the words to illicit an aggressive response. But the point is, don't sit here in America, and dress down Americans on what made America. What he heralds is a return to the old Tea Party days of over-taxation, oppression, and the rich getting richer on the working class. He would have been much better off not offering his obviously biased 'opinion' in favor of actually trying to understand why real Americans wish to keep the rights we earned to separate ourselves from his country.
Piers Morgan barely got a single question out before Alex went off on a 5 minute rant, interupting Piers at every opportunity.
Alex Jones is the poster child for gun control. The fact that he was incapable of having a calm and reasonable debate on the issue, or coherently answer the few questions that Mr. Morgan was able to squeeze into the conversation, should be a very loud warning bell. Alex Jones was frightening to say the least. It was also concerning when he seemed to reference some kind of threat towards Mr. Morgan in suggesting that they should enter a boxing ring. What did that mean? It is the Alex Morgan's of the world who give Americans a bad name. I would be concerned to be in his presence if he had ready access to any gun.
I agree 100% with you Danne! This man is the poster boy for anti-psychotic meds! As I watched I just couldn't believe my eyes, especially when he was mimicking Mr. Morgan's British accent...it was insanity at it's best.
Piers has the worst show on tv. He calls his guests stupid when he has no comback and wants America to be like England. I wish he would just go back there. I tried to watch him and have an open mind but most of the time I just change the channel.
Yea Mr. Morgan could you please explain your leaving England for a phone hacking scandal? Now you won't to come here to America and make suggestions on how we arm ourselves. Seems like you're a pretty good hypocrite to say the least. Does it ever dawn on you Brits that we could give diddly squat on what you think? I agree, Alex is a loud mouth and a "get in your face guy" and I don't really care for him because he tries to make you think or believe in what he does.
Piers, thank you for exposing Alex Jones for what he really is – a person lacking in any kind of emotional maturity. I loved how you let him dig a bigger hole for himself and his way of thinking. Two distinct moments really proved how his judgment is anything but adult. 1) He starts mocking your British accent. And, 2) He challenges you to a boxing match. Throw in his idea about 9/11 and you have the makings of a truly infantile mind. I am grateful that I was not there, but at home watching from the safety of my living room. Lunatics who brag about how many guns they own frankly scare me, more so than any criminal.
I wonder if Mr. Alex Jones would be willing to attend a town hall meeting with the parents and children of assault gun murders to discuss gun control? Doubtful since he made such an a$$ of himself on Pierce Morgan last night.
I usually do not watch the show much but that will change in the future. I gained a lot of respect for Mr. Morgan last night and felt he handled himself very well in the face of such an irrational and delusional man.
Keep up the good fight Mr. Morgan.
Americans are not all crazy, yelling, racist idiot like Alex Jones, even here in Texaa.
Racist?!?!? LOL, Alex jones isn't anything of the sort..Try again.
I find Mr. Jones absolutely terrifying. Even more terrifying is that there are others who totally agree with him.
While you continue to have your opinion brainwashed by msm....you really should listen to the man's show who you are so terrified of. I would bet if you listened to him for one week your mind would be opened to so many subjects your head would spin. You would then research what he is saying independently and realize 90% of what he is saying is true.
Sure Alex could of sat there in a controlled manner and discussed the obvious facts that guns kill people...but unfortunately there are so many more important things going on that doesn't make it into msm.
I completely agree. I realize he sounds kind of nutso but Alex Jones speaks the absolute truth. He is a law abiding citizen that is very passionate about his country but even more importantly the citizens of the country. He is fighting for people that aren't fighting for themselves. Even while they are attacking him. Then you have this Piers character....do people ever question why people from other countries come to AMERICA and complain? It's a choice, you don't have to come here. Lol, but keep believing idiots like Piers, he is so patriotic for America. No wonder why most of our kids are totally braindead in politics. Watch Piers and mainstream media and the stupidity is taught! SMH
How many of these mass shootings were done by people on SSRIs? I willing to bet you are a similar drug..thats scary...They should ban trucks next. Whats stopping someone from stealing a truck and driving it into a school ?
Guns were made to shoot people/animals/things. Trucks were not.
No they aren't going to ban trucks, they didn't ban jumbo jet airliners after 9/11. You make a valid point on the drugs given out like candy, especially the SSRI's and they don't monitor the effects. I'll even go as far too say that Alex Jones was 100% correct on that, however, his unbeliveably moronic behavior sunk him to the bottom and he did not get the message out. Calm and rational is what folks want to hear, not rantings of a man with serious anger management issues.
Alex Jones is correct go home Piers, just go home. Why would CNN keep you on the air. Why do we need an un-American on CNN news anyway. We can regulate our selves, if England is so great why are you here?
My sentiments exactly Kenny. But maybe the truth of the matter is that he couldn't cut it in the real world in his land so he came to destroy ours. Piers completely ignored and would not answer the extremely high rates of violent crimes in his country. I guess as long as they aren't committed with guns he doesn't care or it doesn't deserve attention. Completely logical.
I'll answer the question for you. In the UK (Not England!) we had 35 deaths using guns and 121 deaths from stabbings. We do not figure in the top 30 countries for crime in Europe. Neither comes any way near the number of gun deaths in the US. Why? Because we have so few guns. Few guns = few shootings. We have more deaths from knife crime because knives are easier to get hold of. Sounds like logic to me.
Nick, England is part of the UK. Seriously!!!!??? And you speak like you are from the region. You would think you would know that. England has an INCREDIBLE violence rate. And for all of you people that think that Piers Morgan has the love and passion for YOUR country, the United States, the way you SHOULD, think again.
Julie, sorry I was pointing out that the crime statistics quoted are for the United Kingdom not just England. I am English and have lived in England for 50 years. IIt surprises me that we are perceived as a extremely violent country or even as a violent country. Could you explain to me why you think we are? This is a genuine enquiry because I don't see it in my everyday life. And back to the subject, is Piers Morgan really recoomending that the US becomes like the UK in this interview? I think he is using his experience of being British (His main reference point) to ask why is that the UK has relatively few deaths through gun crime compared with the UK? He could have used Germany, Switzerland, France etc. I do not agree with most of Mr Morgan's politics but I do feel he has tried to shine a mirror on a serious subject. Best wishes
Nick, Violence rates from all countries are usually released a year later and can be looked up. I posted a site for good information on the numbers yesterday but it won't let me post it again. I googled Reality Check piers morgan vs. alex jones and there is a link for it on fox19 dot c-o-m (I think it is the third one down on this. Look at it then tell me what you think. I tried to post it here but it keeps blocking my post.
Yes I saw this clip yesterday which is what promted my questions. The figures quoted in Reality Check in relation to violent crime were from a survey of people's perception of crime not the actual crime figures. In the last two years we have had a number of high profile murder incidents. One was a man who went on a killing spree before shooting himself and there were a series of knife killings (I think there were about 8 deaths in the first two months of 2012) in London. Understandably these were widely reported and shocked people. The survey results were taken at this time. I have seen elsewhere in the comments below that there were approximately 29,000 stabbings reported in the UK last year. I live in London which is not the most violent city in the UK but I find this kind of figure unbelievable. It doesn't get reported in the local press where you expect to see such stories. We do have a high rate of non-violent burglary. We have recently had a period of sectarian violence in Northern Ireland. But overall I think the perception of crime is higher than the reality. I do not believe that wide spread ownership of guns would have helped reduce the crime rate or the perception of crime. I also do not believe that the deaths by knife of gun committed in the UK would have been reduced if gun ownership had been higher. My hope for the US is that gun crime deaths can be reduced because they seem so unneccesary. If this be accomplished whilst allowing citizens to retain their guns, that would serve both sides of this argument. But is seems highly unlikely. A pragmatic approach from both sides is needed and I hope it can be achieved.
America – loveit or leave it! Yes, that is the right thing to say. We don't need any freedom of speech or tolerance! We are americans and our guns are our freedom....is that what you think? Oh God, what a stupid country you've become!
If you are not a citizen you are not privy to the same types of freedoms (such as freedom of speech) as us CITIZENS of the United States. If you don't like what we do here, don't come here. That isn't logical to you Joanna?
I am always interested in learning all sides of an issue and come up with my own opinion. It is too bad that Alex Jones had to be our voice. I do own guns and believe there is a time and place. When Alex Jones asked for a boxing match and wouldn't listen or have a calm intelligent conversation with Piers Morgan just shows how little of a man he really is. This mentality should scare the hell out of every American. Thank god Piers was not a person of color or of muslim reglion.
How little of a man he is? Seriously? Do you not understand his passion for standing up for our rights? You really need to listen to his show. He is not racist. He is trying to open the eyes of all of the blind people who are brainwashed by the mainstream media. I suggest you try to further educate yourself.
Did it ever crossed your mind that you guys could be brainwashed by your preferred type of media? No? Didn't thought so. In the end I couldn't care less. I just observe and I built my own opinion of "the land of the free", based on interviews like that in the aftermatch of a shooting which left 20 kids dead. No, Alex didn't convinced me at all, that every american should have the right to own a gun. He actually made a good point that he himself shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a gun. Good luck with making your country safer by introducing more guns into the public. I have strong doubts it will work. I would never feel safe in any place where everybody could carry around a gun. But thats just my humble opinion, you just go on like this, never try to see the opponents point of view. Makes you life much easier I guess. Greetings from Germany! (no german bashing please, I am a very sensitive boy!)
They are all brainwashed and extremists....and convinced that America is the 'Land of the Free" because that is what they are told and 70% of them don't have a passport so have never been anywhere to experience what the real land of the free is about. I have travelled/lived in numerous countries and feel more restricted in the USA than anywhere in Europe, Australia or New Zealand. I would love to see USA in 100 yrs time, I think it is self destructing and really don't realise that the rest of the world is laughing at us....saying "oh look at America they are all eating themselves to an early grave or shooting themselves but still have not looked from the outside so have not even noticed"
Where have you been? What countries specifically? And how do you feel more restricted in the States? Better yet, forget how you feel. Tell me factually how you are restricted here? Are you not a US citizen?
Oh Hannes, finally a voice of reason. I've been called every name in the book by this "H" fellow who is on a rampage. It is truly scary how many of these good old boys with no education and no moral standards, let alone empathy, can spew such garbage and assume they're the only right ones on the planet. I know you are a sensitive German boy, but get your armor on if you want to play silly reindeer games with them. I am truly ashamed of them and they are lucky they live in America where they can vomit garbage on others, including the government. Many places in the world, these types wouldn't be allowed to exist. Thanks again. Al Veta Zane (I can't spell in german, but tried phonically)
Julie, I suggest you educate yourself with something other than Alex Jones's radio show. You are the one coming off as brainwashed.
Tell me Z, other than believing that I am brainwashed, what do you believe? Everything the media and people like Piers tell you to believe? People who have no interest in our country being the land of the free and prosperous? People who don't want opportunity but equality? Let me explain a strange concept to you: If everyone was equal, there would be no true opportunity. And people wouldn't be motivated to become better, invent better things, have better ideas. It would have to be suppressed. Why oh why do I waste my time trying to explain logic to retards?
Does everyone think that there is some huge governmental conspiracy to brainwash Americans because we all too stupid because we are country '"founded on whiskey and guns"(Alex Jones). I may have not gone to MIT. but I think I am smart enough to know if our governement is trying to ______ (do what, I don't have a clue). And Alex Jones is the next prophet from high above to rescue us by suggesting we all carry weapons, just in case. Before I mentioned he had a valid point on the effects of SSRI drugs, but did he feel they should also carry a weapon? He did not mention that. Also, I don't recall Alex Jones ever mentioning that most deadly crimes are domestic violence gone bad. So the husband that beats his wife should have access to a machine gun? He didn't touch on that. He also did not mention anything about overseas operations that manufacture these weapons and get them into the US. Did I miss that also? Therefore, he didn't convince me of the needs of every American having assault weapons, but he did convince me he is struggling in his own little paranoid bubble. If he didn't act like such a jerk, I'd feel sorry for him. Hope he doesn't end up like neo-nazi guy did, the one whose 10 year old shot him in the head (with his own gun) as he lay sleeping and now the kid is going to prison time for the SHOOTING. Sweep up your own stoop before judging your neighbors.
Kudos to Piers. Continue to give the crazies air time and let them rant themselves into oblivion concerning their "right to bear arms" They are the people with their extreme ideals and their so called rights who Americans will watch and begin to see the sheer ridiculousness of their argument. Saner minds will prevail. Gun laws will change but it will take a long time to get rid of the hoards of arms people have in their homes. The second step will to be to teach people proper storage so that the mentally ill do not have easy access to assault weapons. As the tide changes my fear is for the anti gun people fighting for the greater good. People that are that fanatical can be very dangerous as they begin to see their are losing the battle
Your lack of comprehension is beyond me. What do you not understand about the right to defend yourself? If someone walked up to you and started beating you with a rod iron are you just going to lay down and allow them to do it? Citizens who are armed do so for self defense. Why do people not understand that the second amendment was put in place in times of government that is corrupt and trying to gain complete control? Which they are doing. I suggest you look into the NDAA act that Obama signed, the Patriot Act that Bush signed, and the countless other acts that are signed into law building on one another taking our rights away. But you won't, stupidity seems to be bliss. Please utilize your right to be stupid but don't try to force it onto others. Because we are educated on the issues and you are not, you cannot see what we see. So whether your blind, stupid or just incompetent I do not know but I wish you would contain as not to affect others.
stupidity seems to be bliss. Please utilize your right to be stupid but don't try to force it onto others.
Yes, Judy, you are describing yourself correctly!
Lol, Joanna your stupidity IS bliss. You couldn't even spell my name right. It's Julie, not Judy. They ARE different. Good day ;)
And Joanna, you are not being forced to own guns. You are however trying to force us to not own guns. That is a huge difference. If you don't want guns, move to England or comprehend that Americans have and have always had the 2nd amendment right. Tough stuff. Look at Chicago, strictest gun laws and highest crime rates. How do you logically explain that?
If he gets it beaten with an iron rod that's the type that'll bend over and ask for more wondering if this is what the tv man with an English accent said is what he should be doing. Or if its what the cool kids are saying is trendy on twit er. Can you believe this guy piers wants gun control then the next days says he wants to kill Alex jones with a gun? And threatens his kids on TV? What a disgusting human being – he says he doesn't want his child to be in danger if she goes to school in America because of guns. Meanwhile he says jones kids should be killed. What a horrible human. Please do deport yourself. Take everyone on CNN with you, make CNN relevant again. You think this cartoon news network cast could get a job in any other country and be taken seriously like they are by our zombified public? When someone's sleep walking you need to shake them and wake them up that's exactly what jones did. I hope you did think he is crazy and look him up and see what he says because I did two years ago and realized that both political parties are no different only any issue only their talk is different their actions say otherwise. Wake up you whackos.
So where's the news on piers threatening jones and his kids? No where cause if he says it it's ok but if jones says that he'd be ostracized. Freedom of speech for me but not for you when I don't like what you say. – is their interpretation of the 1st admendment.
Pierce, the mainstream media WILL NOT pay attention to Pier's threat to Alex Jones. Alex said they could go in a ring and he is being attacked. Piers says Alex should be shot and everyone is praising him for his integrity and cool composure. LOL!!! That is the backwards stupid mentality that mainstream media preaches everyday and people just soak up without a second thought. No one thinks anymore. Think allow other people to think for them and tell them what they are going to think. The power of persuasion. Make me puke!
why is joanna so stupid a troll with dangerous liberal ideology. These liberals dont get it we see through them. We are not idiots we know the facts we study the topics. Before any other stooge decides to talk crap please study the following subjects: N.D.A.A, The Patriot ACT,S.O.P.A, A.C.T.A,P.I.P.A,THE HARRP PROGRAM, why is china no longer accepting the U.S Dollar? Why is india stockpiling gold? Real ID ACT of 2013 (was created in 2005 but held off until now) AGENDA 21, this is not conspiracy theories this is happening now and i strongly suggest you wake up and research this now and you to will start buying guns this is not a joke the very same media outlets you watch are keeping you in oblivion on purpose look who runs the networks and you will know you are being lied to for an agenda. Dont follow the crowd save yourself.
I always have said, you go looking for trouble, you'll find it. Conspiracies, tyrannical governments, and the financial demise of the planet is a very real thing. But one household on the block who has a stash of military weapons cannot possibly defend themselves, or others, from a well armed, militarily trained personnel who would send a mortar or granade into that household. I believe in protecting myself with a weapon against any intruder aimed at hurting me or my family, but there is no way I could hold off a tank or airplane attack. You can't eat gold, so I'd be stocking up on food if I were a citizen of India. Never could understand the fiscal attributes placed on little pretties, when all they are is pretty little rocks. I'd prefer a potatoe in time of war and upheavel.
Interesting that viewers dislike Piers,or his views, yet hang onto to an antiquated 2nd amendment. Most wouldn't care to read the first amendment or care to allow it in their own philosophy. North of the 49th, Canadians have back ground checks, waitng periods, and questionnaires that are followed up with phone calls to personal references. Only then can you purchase a Gun or ammunition. Nobody feels their rights are violated. Rules set guidelines to ward off lunatics. Nice knowing Mr. jones will never be a Canadian citizen, not should he ever be allowed entry into Canada.
Piers needs to go back to England if he dosen't like our gun laws – he needs to mind his own backyard. Regarding the Sandy Hook school shootings – I guarantee you if one of those parents would have been in the school at the time of the shootings and had a gun on them, they would have shot that young man dead! I know I would have! Oh, and Piers is an idiot for telling that he dosen't have a gun in his home...the criminals probably loved hearing that one!
Morgan, and CNN is milking this Jones thing for all they can...because they finally got a few viewers. I for one will not watch the pompous and arrogant Morgan spew his half truths and twisted facts for his liberal ideology. enough of this clueless limey. he really should go home.
The USA will never be England Piers. Outlawing the "evil" AR-15 will solve nothing. When the 2nd amendment was created, the government had single shot muskets as did civilians. It was a somewhat level playing field. If the founding fathers were alive today they would have included hand grenades, rpg's, tanks, and attack helicopters in the second amendment. All in order to give the power to the people. And that is something that you people from Europe will never understand. The power lies with the people. The more the government tightens their grip, the more people will rebel.
Piers if you dont like it in this country why dont you go back to England. If its so great over there than go there. We do not want you here. You have no reason to be here.
This guy should be in a nut house, his guns taken from him and placed in a straight jacket. Security should have thrown him out of the building and a restraining order obtained.
Thank you for the stance you've taken on guns....I'm aware it's caused you grief, but I am grateful!
Check Pirce morgans twitter page, his picture with POTUS. Now we know who is whispering their agenda into the ear of our POTUS. Thanks Pierce, now we know you are working from the inside.
Two years ago I was awoken at 2:00 in the morning with my 91 year old father being confronted in our kitchen by a 6'3" 275 lbs. glassy eyed wild man. I ran to my fathers aid shielding him and yelling at the man with no resolve, he just kept lurching at us yelling obscenities while eating a banana he took from our counter. I backed up into my bedroom and grabbed a shotgun. He understand what that meant and immediately fled the house. If it was up to people like Piers Morgan and his kind there's a good chance we would have also been statistics. It's hard to think of the terror those precious little children went through at Sandy Hook. My father and I are also the victims of a madman's terror, but we survived. Thank god we had a gun in our house, it saved our lives.
he doesn't want all guns banned let alone shotguns... just the 1's that shoot 30+ rounds a minute to crazy people
your shotgun would be more then fine as long your not crazy you could have as many as u want
Agree with Josh!! You're shotgun was perfectly adequate to protect you and I too am very glad you had it. America will never be like UK because UK never had a gun culture...but realistically, what is the purpose of having much more than a shotgun or pistol??
I totally agree that a shotgun, 22 rifle, or small pistol will protect your self and loved ones. Military weapons are 'overkill'. No average citizen needs these types of weapons. Persons that possess these weapons are not protecting, they are killing children and innocent unarmed civilians (a military no-no). These are not legally purchased by the murderers. I also do not see any monatary strain on gun sellers if they stop selling these 'mass murder' weapons. Maybe we should start with that. Fines for gun retailers who sell them, tax initiatives if they don't. We need a logical, calm, and intelligent plan to end weapons of mass destruction.
I think Piers should be made an honorary United States citizen for the courage, conviction and leadership he has shown in trying to get us to end the needless killing in this country. Yes, he was overly impassioned and even rude in the beginning, but he has learned to become more detached and to let both the "kooks" and "sages" speak for themselves – to be judged by the inherent logic of their views.
In any given year, 4 times as many Americans are murdered with firearms than were murderd by terroists on 911. We are our own worst enemies. To anyone to reponds with people are also murdered with pistols, revolvers, shotguns, bolt rifles, poison darts, knives, arrows, bombs, clubs, coffee mugs, folding chairs and falling safes is missing the whole point. Some firearms, especiallly AR-15 type semi-auto rifles with 20/30 round mags, make it all too easy to kill and to kill in mass. There is no reasonable/plausable reason for MOST civilians to own an AR-15. Possession of AR-15s and 20/30 round mags by civilians should be strictly regulated – possible – but strictly regulated. Wanting to plink at tin cans in mass or to hunt wild boar with an AR-15 is just not good enough a reason. Enjoy these activities as you like, but use a different firearm.
Gun owners or own weapons for recreation or protection go to safety gun course to be responsible gun owners. The people that use weapons to kill other people are sick and criminals. Taking guns for responsible gun owners is a bad deal. Piers Morgan, you came to america because nobody like you on your own country and even the brits may kick your behind on your opinion on this issues. people that shoot gun for wrong reason need to be in jail. taking guns for responsible owners is plain wrong, we get our self educated to safe and responsible gun owners and im not just give that away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Americans should stop waiting for congress to do something about gun control – they are dysfunctional. If responsible members of the NRA cancelled their memberships in the NRA until the NRA supported reasonable laws and responsible gun ownership, you would see an immediate effect. Let's start a move to control the NRA by cotrolling the membership.
Piers deserved this, I do not particularly like Alex, because he even thinks Glen Beck is a agent of the CIA :/
However... one must admit, Piers calls his guests stupid, idiot, foolish, says their points are rediculous, and you name it. This was karma, he didn't stay quiet because he wanted to give "you guys" a chance to speak, he did it because Alex is a bully just like him, but he met his match on Monday.
Alex is kinda scary to me but he is a law abiding citizen and everyone here calling for him to lose his right to bear arms... really is being silly, he is crazy politically, but he is as every bit law abiding as the rest of us.
stupidity seems to be bliss.
This is why you have to take your medicine: Every. Single. Day. It's not ok to skip a day, even if you are feeling better.
Dear Piers, first of all I would like to commend you for taking on the issue of gun control in America. As a retired Marine Gunnery Sergeant, it is my firm belief that assault weapons belong in the battlefield, not in our cities. Please keep pushing your agenda, and slowly more and more politicians will support you. Sometimes we need to step out of the "Box" to take another look, and you bring that "Refreshing" new look to the table. By the way, I welcome you to stay in America as long as you want, you are our ally, just like your countrymen have supported us in the "Field" in our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The mission is to keep assault weapons/High capacity magazines out of civilian hands...Stay the course!
Well said Sebastien.
Holy Crap!!!!! Just watched the interview and I am actually speechless! This Alex Jones wing nut is in some serious need of meds! Jones, Jones......sounds Welsh to me, from good old UK I would guess. He is what the rest of the civilized world look at and think "Cuckoo for CoCo Puffs". This fascination with weapons in the US is absolutely amazing and the fear of some type of government conspiracy to crush and enslave the common man is ludicrous!!! As a staunch supporter of Uncle Sam, I am sometimes left scratching my head at the paranoia and insanity that guides a section of your population.
Sebastain – roger that.
Well I am starting to see a bigger picture if the gun control issue keeps going, and laws get passed and or bans, wait until mid terms, and here comes a raft of newly elected republicans. That will lead to republicans back in whitehouse 2yrs later , and omg , which recession did you like better , old man bush or w , back in the soup again , all because of gun laws brought to you by the likes of some brit that dont know a machine gun from a ar-15, this by a man who probably has never fired one round and we know he doesnt know anything about guns, power of tv and following ramifications get shoved up us.
Hello Mr. Morgan, Thank you so much for your efforts to keep this gun issue in front of the public. I happen to agree that we need, in this country, to get a handle on gun violence and the violence in our culture but, while I understand your being appalled with our openness to owning many kinds of guns, I'd prefer that you left the outrage to your guests and tried to alienate yourself from the debate. Also I'd like for you to somehow highlight the issue of the profit motive that seems to me to be driving this madness. Thanks. gt
Piers, thank you for tackling this very controversial issue. I appreciate your bravery to confront those like this guest you had on your show. Please keep up your great work on exposing this topic further.
Janelle in Colorado
I saw Jones put Morgan in his place. I don't know what you other people saw but you evidently have not spent much time in the free world. I have traveled through nearly every state and only find people who don't value their freedom in cities. You people in Chicago, NYC, Detroit, San Francicso, Atlanta are missing the best people in this country because you live with rats and apparently know nothing better. A city fella can be spotted when they get out of a car in a western town because they continually look over their shoulder like the mob is after them. You folks give up your guns if you don't see a need for them. The rest of us will keep ours.
Not unlike it will take a black President to change this country, it may take an Englishman to teach Americans about guns. For more than ten years I gave speeches in prisons about guns. You can only imagine the disdain I received from these hardened criminals, but after many years speaking to the same audience, theyfinallyt throwing stuff at me during these Toastmasters speeches, and began to understand how guns had been the reason they were doing a lot of time (I was a drug non violent smuggler).
I praise your forthright and stalwart stance on America's "big problem" (its not the debt!). And I will continue to support your views.
Incidentally, to prove a point I went to the largest gun show in America, located within walking distance of the Laredo, Texas border, and as a felon purchased ten assault rifles with a thousand rounds of ammo. I just wanted the picture of this purchase and sent it to most Congressman.
This is insanity.
I am not an owner of a gun, and never will be, so I immediately returned the weapons to the seller. The objective of my purchase was to point out to our Congress that ANYONE CAN BUY ANY WEAPON they want (I could have bought a fully automatic machine gun at this show), regardless of whom you are, where you are from, what legal status you may have - WITHOUT THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF IDENTIFICATION OR BACKGROUND CHECK.
Since that purchase, ten or more years ago, nearly 300,000 people have died from gun violence in America.
I'm moving to England.
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animated contest of freedom, go home in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and MAY POSERITY FORGET YOU WERE OUR COUNTRYMAN." – Samuel Adams. BASICALLY GET LOST THEN YOU LEECH!!!
It's nice to have a gun controll expert like you participate in this discussion. I have learned alot from your words of wisdom. It's nice of you to stand up for us and show your connections in congress how easy it was for you to to purchace 10 guns at the largest gun show in the U.S. and then return them. A tru expert in your field. The people of the United States should nominate you for a gun controll position with the government. THANK YOU for showing the public a peek at the mentality of an All American do-good gun hater. You should share your wisdom and write a book for the gun hateing do-gooders that list the negatives of guns just in case they can't think of anything. It would also be great to include a chapter that list government agencies where they can drop off their guns. Maybe even a chapter on how to protect yourself with alternitive weapons such as a fly swatter, tennis racket, maybe throw a shoe. It should be a big hit. They would be proud of you. I am definatly proud of you for sharing your mentality and lack of common-sense.
Can you please define 'do gooder gun hater' for me? There are alternatives for guns. My neighbor gal and I live alone out in the country, we have had break ins alot (meth labs) and once they entered the home with two little girls in it. Thank God, he didn't kill them. Back to my point, I asked if she had a gun and she did but did not know how to work it. Well, it wasn't time to teach her. So I told her to get wasp spray because it can shoot forty feet and blind a crook in a heartbeat and keep him down until help arrives. So their alternatives to gun only protection. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
I almost forgot, maybe you should also include in your book information on England. When you move to England you should start a campground thats surounded by a razor topped chain link fence for the unarmed US travelers. Maybe give anti gun lectures, show exciting movies on house plants, have guided bird warching tours. You could have govenment officials from the UK tell some of their secrets of how they disarmed their citizens. What would really top off this whole campground thing would be to have Piers Morgan make surprise visits. Anyways have a safe move to England and don't forget your slingshot.
Kevin....you sound a bit like Alex! Did you put on a pathetic English accent whilst you were typing this too?
And FYI...you can only say you have travelled extensively and experienced the free world if you truly have....there is a whole world out there outside the USA...a FREE world. I have travelled to 47 of those FREE countries and I can assure you...the USA is further from the freedom you all brag about than most of them!
Way to go girl, Mandy F. Good point!
Kevin....you sound a bit like Alex! Did you put on a pathetic English accent whilst you were typing this too?
This made me smile. And they say Americans don't get irony.
But just in case, unarmed American Travellers to the UK don't need to hide in razor-wired compounds and many of the activities you describe can be enjoyed by all. Because we don't have nutters wandering around with guns. We don't have a sense that everyone is out to kill us and that our government hates us. The only activity that will not be available is the lecture by governmet officials telling how they took away our guns. We never had them to take away. We don't need them, we don't want them. We have pretty effective gun licencing so that people with a need have access to them. There will always be cases where the system fails but I sleep pretty soundly knowing that for most of the year most people in the UK are safe. If you haven't visited Europe, take the time and see what it feels like not to live in fear and with paranoia. The same system won't work in the US but don't just dismiss it.
Surrounded is spelled with two r's. Birdwatching and having tea sounds great to me. Sure beats hearing small children are dead. Oh, if you go on a rant about how I should move to England because I don't agree with military weapons in the hands of US civilians. I am more an American because I care about my fellow citizens and America's children. My military can use their guns as necessary against enemies of the state and I trust them to do it as they were trained. I trust them to do this, so I can go birdwatching, and not live in a state of paranoia.
It’s nice to read your humorous responses to my humorous reply to Mr. Wimmer’s humorous post on his easy purchase of 10 automatic weapons by a convicted felon and the return of the weapons to the seller just so Mr. Wimmer can inform congress. This illiterate BS make gun reformers look bad. Your responses have included spelling lessons, world wide travel info. bird watching with no paranoia, the fine art of sleeping in the UK with armed military watching over you, and your report on dead children in America, etc., etc.. I see you have done your educated homework on the issue. Sounds like you all should qualify for a CNN interview with Piers. And “MANDYF”, most would envy you of your world travels. I’m sure many of your destinations were guarded by armed security for your safety, not just from guns but thugs that would knife you for a dollar. I to have traveled the world. And “MANDYF”, you mentioned that the UK offers guns to those that need them, did you mean the privileged. We could go on and on but the truth is yes I’m having fun with these writings, and yes I believe that people of sound mind should have the right to own and possess guns. Not fully automatic weapons, large clips, bazookas, armored piercing ammo, etc. And thanks to violent movies, shows, video games and kids curiosities, homes with children should be armed with parents with common sense and not guns. If they have to have guns (or weapons of any kind) hide your ownership from the kids, lock the triggers and lock these guns or weapons in a secure and locked safe. Make it mandatory law that all guns be locked in secure gun safes in households where mentally unstable or children under the age of 18 reside. A quality gun safe with an alarm can also help curb gun theft (at least slow them down until authorities can arrive). I believe in the 1st amendment, but with the numerous media reports over and over, they just sensationalizes the issue in the eyes of the sick minded or mentally challenged and may stir up their bad memories of elementary bulling, childhood molesting, Economic resentment, Etc. If we could only identify these individuals before they act. Families need to pay attention to these individuals if possible, be kind and listen to them in their time of need. Please accept my apology if I have offended anybody, this is an emotional issue for both sides of the issue. I wish everybody well whatever they choose, or not choose to insure their safety or piece of mind. Here’s my true life changing story of survival.
He understood what that meant and immediately fled the house. I’m so glad he fled, I would have been an emotional victim for the rest of my life if I would have had to pull the trigger and a good chance that without this 12 gauge family keepsake we could have been another statistics. It's hard to think of the terror those precious little children went through at Sandy Hook. My father and I are also the victims of a madman's terror, but we survived. Thank god we had a gun in our house, it saved our lives.
finally Kevin is writing something sensible!! But would just like to point out that only 2 of the countries I have ever visited I have been protected by armed guards – Ecuador in 2000 there was terrible political unrest and we were advised as foreigners to leave (which we did) and South Africa where if I am not in a location protected by armed guards then my husband ensures that he takes one of his Fathers lockable gun cases. FYI, these 2 countries were not included in the 43!
I am not opposed to guns in America, like you I am opposed to semi automatic, high capacity rounds etc in the hands of civilians, I am opposed to civilians owning guns in a very irresponsible way (no locking cabinets), I am opposed to parents sensationalising gun culture to their young children and I am disgusted by the screening process (or lack of it) for purchasing/owning guns.
guns are just tools that we the people can use to defend ourselves against corruption through out our own government. guns dont kill people. people kill people. all these mass shooting were from people that were on mental pills provided by legal pharmacies, marijuana would of helped alot more than these kill drugs.
HOW CAN THEY COME TO A REASON ? THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS WAS FOR THE DAYS WHEN AMERICA BECAME A NATION , THEN THE GUN WAS A PISTOL WITH 6 BULLETS , THAT ALEX JONES IS THE WORST KIND OF PERSON AND THANK YOU FOR HAVING SHOWED HIM IN YOUR SHOW , NOW WE KNOW AND CAN VOMIT THAT INDIVIDUAL
I believe Piers has come a long way from the start of his show. No more fluff here. I see you in a different light.
This place is just crawling with servile programmed brainwashed mind-controlled zombie serf sheep
No wonder Alex is angry , when he has to deal with sheep and their paid shill gate-keepers .
THE SEERS ARE HERE
I am all for gun control but as funny as it sounds the guy ( Jones) actually had quite a few very valid points but his temper and lack of self-control defeated all his arguments which he could not even put across. It is true that UK has 35 gun related murders in comparison to more than 11,000 in USA. However the number of knife related crimes in UK for last 2012 year was no more no less " approximately 29,613 recorded offences involving knives or other sharp instruments" ( Commons report). Around 4000 were admitted to the hospital. I would love to have a gun while facing knife touting punks. No question about that.
yes but if you were allowed to have a gun you wouldn't be up against someone with a knife.....you would be up against someone with a gun.....duh!!!! OMG, its like banging your head on a brick wall!
These figures are not the recorded crime figures but people's perceived experiences. There is no way of checking the accuracy of these figures. If you read further down the report out of those incidents over 4000 of those eventually ended up as a proven offence. That is far too many but it is not the wave of knife wielding criminals the report initially appears to be.
Check out the comments section under the Yahoo story about this interview. And pay attention to the Like/Dislike statistics that appear after each comment. The comments are nearly all in favor of the 2nd amendment and the Likes outnumber the dislikes by about 20 to 1.
If there is any restrictions on how many military weapons and ammo you can buy and stockpile up?
U.S.A has let itself get out of control and make it so easy for the wrong people to own these types of weapons.
I feel the owners who don`t agree about restricting these powewful weapons maybe just can`t handle the truth
"Machine Gun Kelly" started it!
Piers......give it a rest man. You got nothing and your only digging yourself a deeper hole. No Brit is going to come here and tell us Americans to give up our second amendment or our guns. We whipped your ancestors, sent them back to the queen with their tails between their legs and we will send you packing with tears in your eyes too.....you are what's wrong with this country just letting pukes in that don't have any interest in becoming an American, assimilating to our culture and prospering..... To live the American dream.......a dream that is based on our freedom to protect ourself against pukes like you!!
Well done.. You are the brave and unbiased on guncontrol policy. I wonder why other primetime news channels not discussing like you do.. . The guy on your show on Monday was ranting like an animal before being slaughtered. I never saw this hyper hyper guy. This guy is very danger to the public who follow him on radio channels. At this point once in a while I feel martial law on gun control is better than discussions like this. Piers please keep this torch of Guncontrol policy alive till we see some resolution. All the best.
Speaking as a Gun owner and a Pro 2nd Amendment defender. We own everything from Pistols, shotguns, rifles, muzzleloaders, and yes Assault rifles. We need to stop just blaming the GUNS and those of us that are responsible and caring Gun owners! I was raised in a Hunting family and I married a Military man. We hunt, target shoot, etc… and I am quite tired of hearing all of the rhetoric. My husband has served and defended the rights of all of you here in the United States along with many other Veterans and it is time that you all realize this country was founded on the use of guns and this is why this country is as strong as it is. I can tell you that you would not be living the life most of you are right now if it were not for the 2nd amendment. My whole family is permitted to carry concealed and I would not even consider going anywhere without my handgun. Think about it, if just one person in that school that day had been carrying a firearm or there had been Armed Guards at the doors this would not have been as tragic as it was. It is disheartening for me to hear from my son that their safety plan for something like this is everyone huddling in a corner in his classroom. My son should be able to stand proud and undeterred knowing that his teacher or guards are there to protect him and his classmates. Not sitting there to be picked off sitting in a corner. I have instructed my son that if this ever happens to do whatever he needs to do to get out of there and out of harm’s way. We as a nation need to wake up to the fact that this country has taken away an enormous amount of funding for psychological and mental health help and treatment. The common denominator in all of these shootings is mentally ill individuals. I have a brother that is mentally ill and we fight tooth and nail to get him help constantly. The Mental health laws and insurance for Mental health care need to be completely revamped. I will also tell you as a responsible gun owner we have a Gun Safe that all of our guns are kept locked in when not in use. The keys stay on mine and my husband person at all times. I would also like to clear something up that the media does not seem to be reporting. That AR15 assault rifle was not in the school the day of the shooting. There is a picture of the Cops removing it from the trunk of Lanza’s car. This kid went in with semi-auto pistols. I would also like to know why with this kid attended the elementary school the previous day and caused problems, why did the school not pursue having him looked at by the police. Why was he not on their radar? I find this negligent on behalf of the school . I would also like to say that you cannot tell me that this family did not know this Kid needed serious help. I know when my brother is struggling and needs additional attention. I can talk with him on the phone and tell from his speech patterns and the tone difference. So I do place blame on his Family for not doing more. What about all of these extremely violent games that are sold. Amazing that when 9/11 happened we had no problem blaming the flight simulator games that taught them how to fly these planes. These violent Black Ops and other type of Military war games are just like War Simulators for our kids. But oh no this couldn’t be the reason any of this stuff is happening either. Wake up people and stop blaming those of us who are responsible and do abide by the laws and help protect and provide for their families by owning and using guns.
Good for you Hoosier, well said
Yes Hoosier....a couple of points:
Does your mentally ill brother also have all these weapons?
Do you think he should be allowed to have these weapons?
Do you think most Americans are responsible enough to keep their guns in gun safes?
Do you think that everyone should have the kind of training that you and your family have?
Do you think that to own a gun you should have the level of knowledge and responsibility about firearms that you and your family clearly have?
If so then I think you are on the same side as Piers Morgan!!
Hunting with an assault rifle...you are kidding right...I have been cutting up deer (I don't hunt) since I was kid and know that if you don't have a clean neck shot (one) then you have inedible animal. Cutting a deer down with 500 rounds? So now you have wasted brass and an animal's life. I've never seen a deer brought down with anything than a 30.6 bolt action hunting rifle. Along, with bear, cougar, moose and elk. So please stop saying you require military style weapons to hunt, unless you are going to a grade school or shopping mall. NRA folks are way off the mark, come back to reality.
Yes my husband is from South Africa and an avid hunter (for food) and agrees. They have shotguns and pistols which cover all of there hunting and self defense purposes!!
no were did anyone say they hunt with a rife oh and its just rifle not assualt rifle dont know if you know this yet but citizens dont own assualt rifles only the military does. a rifle fires one shot per trigger pull which is very tiring to pull some triggers are 9-12 pund pulls imagine that 30 times let alone 500. If i wanted to fire 500 rounds i would need 17 magazines and pulla 9 pound trigger 500 times that is not even realistic. Your so brainwashed go fire a gun and then get on the subject with us.
Hoosier's post quite clearly says "yes, and assault rifles" – what do you use them for??
And why doesn't Hoosier want to answer my questions about her brother etc??
Piers, I agree with you 100%. Their is no place on the market for guns that were designed to kill people. I was a member of the NRA until they approved the sale of these Rifles.I do not believe in multiround clips and do not believe in sale of ARMY rounds that are designed to blow up when hitting flesh. They do not have to hit a vital organ to kill, They kill by hemmoraging, the hole going in is small ;the hole going out is huge. That's why so many people were unidentifyable and unable to be saved.
Mr Hughes- Just so you know. The military does not use rounds that blow up flesh. Every heard of full metal Jacket. They are designed to go in and out. This is part of the Geneva convention. They cannot use hollow points etc.. It is amazing to me that most of the people commenting on this do not or have never been around guns or used them, but seem to have a very intimate knowledge of them. So since more people have died from Alcohol either driving and killing people, or binge drinking to the point they die, or drinking to the point they rage and kill someone with them I do not see alcohol being ripped of the shelves. It is the person the kills. Not the Gun. Guns do not walk off a shelf and say hey I am going to kill someone. It is the idiot behind the gun. I have been around guns my whole life and everyone I know owns and has guns. No one in my family or and of my friends have ever killed anyone. If you do not want a gun, then don;t own one. But don't tell me what I should or should not have. Quote from one of our PResidents. The right of the people to keep and bear…arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country… — James Madison Try telling the people of TX and AZ that they do not need their guns. Wake up. First they take away this right. Next will be more rights taken away on something completely different. Our forefathers are rolling in their graves right now at the thought of what this country has become.
As person already posted, Alex Jones proved he is exactly the kind of nut-job, unhinged, uncivilized, and unreasonable, we want to keep assault weapons away from. I felt it was a poor decision to give him even a second's worth of air time on a legimate program such as this one. I actually felt slightly physically ill after watching only a clip from the show. Perhaps the writers, producers might want to watch or listen to some of the broadcasts of future guests before allowing them a platform. Alex Jones is widely-known as a whack-o – Piers Morgan is SO above that!!
Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. — John F. Kennedy
The whole discussion about guns is an artificially hyped national dispute that will not reduce any of the seen violence. Is it really wanted as displayed? Politicians jump on band wagons to show off. Parents point finger on the NRA to run away from responsibility. But in reality the violence is executed by psychopaths and other mentally ill individuals.
None of these individuals is called stupid. I think it is safe to assume that they will find a way to execute their sick goals with other means: take away the Bushmaster and hand them two hand guns. Take away the hand guns and give them a few shot guns. Reduce their one big magazine and hand them over two or three smaller ones to do the job.
Nothing will change.
And the stupid response of the NRA? Put armed guards in schools, yeah, makes me feel so good. What is that going to change? Nothing.
When they can’t take the school then they take the theatre, if they don’t get the theatre they take over the whole mall, if they cannot take over the mall they go to the hospitals, do we arm nurses as well? What about the stadiums, train stations, market places, cruise lines? Any target is on game!
Those psychopaths are smart and play sick. In the end they will be declared criminal not responsible and let go. At least that is what we do in Canada. That is sickness!
To prohibit semi automatic weapons you MUST include ALL hand guns since all of them are semi automatic!
To think that a reduction in cartridge capacity from 20 to 10 or whatever it is, would solve anything is hilarious! If I only could get small magazines then I would take two or three magazines instead and load them one after another. What would that change?
The question for me as a Canadian is: why does the USA produce so many wackoes and unstable individuals that are willing to commit such a outrageous crime like killing children? For me it all comes back to the parents. The parents make either criminals out of their children or let it happen. The parents make drug addicts out of their children or let them hang out with them. The parents make them isolated or let it happen. It is easy to blame the NRA when the parents raise their kids. Most of those individuals are mentally challenged and young males
Do American Fathers and or Mother nowadays still care about values as much as they did in the 60s or 70s?
Schools and Families do not provide good values to their kids anymore, they grow up in expectance of the ultimate and instate satisfaction. Parents provide and give everything, just ask and it will be given. If kids don’t get what they want then they get mocked by peers and run a tantrum.
Nowadays we see a constant decay on values, respect and love. Kids want instant satisfaction and they get it. Commercials in TV are feeding this stimulation of need of satisfaction. But live is totally different. Most of it is hard work. Constant work. But our kids are not up to this challenge of the American Dream anymore. Commercials also provide the exit doors for frustrations: feel like a hero again, let out the power and the frustration and disappointments: play with plastic guns, kill people in video games, watch violent videos, watch creepy and disgusting series like “The Walking Dead” or “The Sicko of Dicko”. This all sets the mentality and engraves it deeply. Those who are not up to the present challenges will isolate. Those who don’t have goals will lose. Those kids that are mentally not strong will snap. The parents determine how their kids deal with frustration and disappointments, NOT the NRA. The parents provide the mental background to make those killings possible.
I see beside the financial decay and bankruptcy of the USA a mental bankruptcy of our children. Does that go hand in hand? Is this the end of Western Culture and dominance?
When all is said and done the fact remains that GUNS are what is killing people. Don't give me that stuff about people killing people which is just plain dumb. The problem is the guns! Some of you gun freaks would rather give up your wives and children before giving up you guns! It's simply dumb and stupid!
I BEG TO DIFFER , THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A GUN MADE THAT CAN KILL ON ITS OWN, THERE MUST BE A DECISION MADE BY A HUMAN, TO POINT AND SHOOT AND KILL SOMETHING, THE GUN IS NOT THE ISSUE, IT IS WHOS HANDS IT IS IN. ALWAYS HAS BEEN ,ALWAYS WILL BE , WAKE UP SMELL COFFE AND GET REAL, I LOVE THE SMELL OF GUNPOWDER IN THE MORNING.
I am not a fan of Alex Jones' style or rudeness. First, I am not sure if Piers Morgan realizes how utterly ridiculous it is to say in effect "Look in a country that has banned all firearms, we have fewer gun fatalities". To that I say, "TELL US SOMETHING WE DON'T KNOW, PIERS",OF COURSE, that is the case!! However, the fact that the UK has any murders commited with guns proves that if you ban them you will still have gun related deaths, doesn't it? CRIMINALS still obtain guns in the UK, and those same CRIMINALS go on to kill people with their illegally obtained firearms, right? I would like to say, as a stay at home mother of three, I am not in favor of more gun control. The fact is that if you keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill people, you won't have a problem. Law abiding gun owners don't go around shooting people at will! I don't think your simple arguments make even the most open minded person reconsider their positions. In other words, you aren't swaying a single person with these obvious declarations. Everyone already knows that your country has a gun ban and it would be obvious to even "Rainman" that the UK would have fewer gun related murders. I hope you have never been a lawyer, as this is the argument of a "K-Mart" intellectual.
Before anyone posts any more comments, please view this: http://youtu.be/GsmcH2UPsw4
The US is indeed violent, but is the UK a bastion of safety and peace, as Piers Morgan suggests? Nope. Why their likeness is his goal, I have no idea.
But they keep on comparing Violent Crime Rates with Homicide by Firearms Rates....not comparable! The UK definitely has much more violent crime than the US – hands down but a fight in the bar, a robbery where someone gets knocked to the ground. football hooliganism is all classed as violent crime in the UK – not really the same as taking a gun and shooting someone. Also comparing the US to countries like Honduras/Jamaica really – you guys are really clutching at straws here – is that who you want to be compared to??
I've been to the UK many times, when people over there fall out, they fight! They use fists, feet etc. They don't pull out guns and start shooting 'to defend' themselves. This 'I need a gun because he has a gun' is bollocks. Dont take it out on the brits, just because Piers is English. He is providing a voice for many anti gun Americans out there who can't be heard. He is obviously doing a great job, with his show being the highest rated.
NRA members equals approx. 0.0133% of the American population (300M/4M), however it holds so much power it might as well be our fourth branch of government. This power does not come from its membership, but rather comes from the gun makers it represents. Their slogan that "guns don’t kill people, people kill people" is analogous to saying "cigarettes don't cause cancer, people cause cancer." To this, the gun nuts will say – exactly! However, most Americans know the truth on cigarettes – just as they do on guns. Additionally, the gun nuts and the NRA sincerely believe their slogan because they primarily define their freedom in terms of gun ownership and insist this freedom should have no limitations imposed by society. (Even while: There are limitations to our freedom of speech – one cannot scream fire in a theater; and, there are limitations to our freedom of assembly – one cannot cross a police line.) On all counts, their logic on gun ownership is beyond flawed – it is utter BS. Finally, while they are addicted to the feeling of absolute empowerment they find in unlimited gun ownership, they, like any other kind of addict, do not realize the absolute absurdity of their logic.
correction: 4M / 600M = NRA membership.
I cannot thank you enough for your efforts. All we have to ask is what kind of society do we want to live in? Creating a culture of fear? Where will that get us? Thank goodness for those who keep the country sane. We'll get there Piers – It won't be easy but I commend you for your efforts. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
On the day of Sandy Hook Alex stated on his radio show that all the mass shootings by young men (Columbine, Aurora, Portland, Sandy Hook) are part of a conspiracy by the Obama administration. On the following Monday Alex related how he teared up over the weekend because the gov't was "going to come and take our guns away". Not tears for those poor kid and their parents, or the heroic teachers mind you. I can no longer listen to Alex's show or anything he has to say, ever.
Piers Morgan rocks...we keep on watching his shows every night and his stand and dedication towards gun control in America is amazing...amazingggggggggggg...keep up the good work...we applaud you!!!!
Hypocrisy vs. Stupidity
I saw a part of the interview, at one point Alex Jones looks aggressive and deranged, which is not the way to fight hypocrisy. Piers will only get the "higher ground", your deranged, killing yourselves, and need to be civilized like Great Britain.
The best weapon against hypocrisy, British hypocrisy or any other kind is stupidity. You ask dumb questions and give dumb answers, and the hypocrisy starts to get shaky.
A well armed population prevents different forms of subjugations and anyone involved in oppression fears a well armed population. The British way of doing things is through hypocrisy, chip away at rights, "open the gates", and gradually take over or let them sink into subjugation. Once this is done the United States free other countries from dictators will not be available to free its self ... freeing countries from different forms of dictators, do the British feel threatened by the U.S. free society?
Gun Control and Hypocrisy
The secret to fighting hypocrisy is to ask a few stupid question and give stupid answers. Here is an example:
Q. Piers, do you know why Marie Antoinette would like a defenseless population?
A. Because she got her head cut off.
I was opposed to gun control until I recently read a book on Cambodia, but I don't believe we need assault weapons. There are other options for protection in schools and other places. I don't think guns in school is the answer. Wouldn't it be more reasonable for a few people to be trained in using stun guns? It would be "some" protection. The gun control situation needs calm rational discussion to reach something we can all "live" with!
the real answer to solving gun crimes is to place a micro serial number on all bullets so they can be traced back to the buyer of the bullets. the only evidence left at most murder scenes is the bullet itself. every box of bullets could have unique markings or serial number then at the point of sale the buyers info would be entered so if the bullets are found at a crime scene the bullets can be traced back to the buyer of the bullet. GUNS DONT KILL BULLETS DO it goes something like this for example... a criminal wouldnt throw a brick with his name painted on it thru a window unless he wanted to get caught
Henry..what a great idea. I like when people are part of the solution and not part of the problem. Comedien Chris Rock has a great idea in his performance...He said we should make the cost of ammunition so high it is unprohibitive to buy. A gun can't be used if it is empty. Way to go!
My problem with Piers is not his views, rather his lack of acknowledgement of his adopted country, The United States of America. I hear a lot of sound bites from him, my country England etc. Hey, what about saying thanks to the U.S. once in a while for putting food on your plate. If you like your country, the U.K., by all means, go back, we won't miss you.
Dear VP Joe Biden, President Barack Obama, and Other Panel Members
I know that organized crime is committing acts of terror for the purpose of advocating a defenseless population, which is linked to subjugation through organized crime, corruption, abuse, and oppression. It takes time to show this to be true but there is progress on this issue and it can be found on the Psychological Harassment Information Association website, the Rage Shooting Factors page.
Please do not weaken the U.S. rights, the 2nd amendment, and give information a bit more time.
guns dont have brains or a soul...we do!!! wake up America ...it's time to remove this scourge from our lives...keep war weapons away from public use!
Too bad you commies didn't post any headlines from anyone that supports Mr. Jones....you people suck!
Congratulations Piers! Glad you're staying here! I was uncomfortable with your earlier shows on the gun issue, and despite my interest and delight that the subject was to be broached, I could not watch the free for all, nor listen to the name calling the whole way through. But in interviewing Alex Jones you completely redeemed yourself! The payoff of your control was that Alex Jones made the best case possible right there on your show FOR gun control! Anyone with such a high degree of anger management problems should not have access to killing machines!!!! I'm really glad that the subject is being discussed in the open with courage. It is so necessary to have a RATIONAL debate on the subject so we can tackle the problem of unnecessary brutal carnage shaming this wonderful country. It's about time!
Why are you guys not publishing any o my articles that are obscenity-free, thoughtful an packed with good information? Oh that's right, they SUPPORT Alex Jones' ideas...
Talk about censorship...
People. Check out Operation Gladio. Maybe then you'll wake up to what Alex gets so passionate about... Then Fast & Furious...
I lived in the UK. Piers Morgan is a slimeball and 100% corporate snake. Believe me he is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Look up The Fabian Society and check out their logo. THEN you know who you're dealing with... I thought better of Americans – you're soooooooo trusting. Go on, give up your guns and see what happens. Hahahahha. Suckers.
Roy from Nottingham-Well said I think everyone has forgotten who Piers Morgan really is. He sits he and wants to live in and make his $$$$ in our beautiful country. But yet wants to claim how the UK is so wonderful and perfect. I am a GUN owner and not a fanatic or deranged person. I live not far from a person that was verbally and threatening physical harm to me all while I had (3) firearms in my vehicle. This person hit me and ran me off the road and proceeded to blame me. At no point did I whip out m guns in anger. Although I must say I felt threatened and had just cause to do so. My (2) children were in the car watching this all happen. People need to realize because I am a Gun owner does not make a me a bad person, but a prepared person. I not only use my guns for protection, but I use them to feed my family. It is my god given right as a citizen in this country. This is what makes us as strong and vibrant as we are. Piers has just found another way to boost his ratings. Really sad, how we as a society cannot even think for ourselves anymore. WAKE UP AMERICANS!!!! First this right is taken away, what will be next! Gun control will not keep the guns out of Bad peoples hands. Take a look has the war on drugs worked? NOT!
2 years ago I was awoken at 2:00 in the morning with my 91 year old father being confronted in our kitchen by a 6'3" 275 lbs. glassy eyed wild man.
Kevin- God Bless you and your father. Thank god you had your weapon to protect you both. Somehow these idiots out there think taking away our guns will make things safer. Instead we should as a nation improve our Mental health laws instead of letting them be kicked to the side and allowing these doctors to just shove pills down their throats masking the real issue. No one wants to talk about the $$$$ being made by the Pharmaceutical companies. I can guarantee it is a lot more than the NRA.
In my opinion, this person should not be allowed to have guns. His explosive behavior make me believe that he need to talk to a counsellor. This is exactly the type of personality that we all taking about. SUCH PERSON SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE GUNS. PERIOD. He demonstrated that he can not have an intelligent conversation. I will not be surprise if one day he will appear again in the news with violent act again others. I strongly recommend to CNN to talk to him so he can get some help......
Wow amazing how you defend piers how about when wayne la pierre was on and piers morgan called every nra member stupid dangerous idiots? is that a civil conversation or a direct insult and disrespect all aimed at the NRA and its members? Did the nra pull the trigger 26 times did its members? no! so shut the hell up. You liberals are nothing but a hate group that bash the right and we are not going to sit back and take it anymore you want this country so badly come and take it we will fight for this country. the fact is Obama has made it clear in purchasing 1.8 BILLION! rounds of hollow point ammunition which is for killing what his intentions are. remember even if just 1% open fire thats 3.5 MILLION fighters are you willing to see that many americans die at the hands of the U.S government? The government has made it clear they will kill us for not allowing them to step on our rights.
Hello H, it is the POS Sick F (I forgot the rest of the dirty names you called me). For your information, I own guns and I own a semi-automatic, and I'm a really great shot. Also, I am not mentally ill. I am also educated. And you have no right to tell me to go away, that is tyrannical and oppressive. It is also a threat to my person. Again...it is 'damn' not 'dam (a structure that holds water). Backwards is the correct spelling. Remember you attract more flies with honey than vinegar. Name calling is unnecessary in adult conversations, so maybe you are the one who needs to go away.
"The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." - (Thomas Jefferson)
WAKE UP People do we not remember what one of our own forefathers said!
In doing background checks, there seems to be a lot of talk about mentally ill, but what about mentally impaired. If a person has drug or alcohol problem, there is a 70/30 change that they will drug/drink again. Common sense would dictate that a person with a history of drug and alcohol abuse should be denied the right to have gun, even when functioning as a :recovering" addict/alcoholic. This would add a huge number of people to the nay list.
This makes a valid point. However, I have not come across any of these mass murderers were high/drunk at the time of thier shootings. What has been proven is they were mentally unstable and premeditated these acts and were not committed out of the blue. Also, it appears that none of the weapons were obtained legally by the murderers but stolen or bought illegaly.
Of 66 mass shootings in the last 30 years in the USA...only 12 of them had obtained their guns illegally. About 85% of those obtained legally were obtained by people that had a history of mental illness...
Check your facts. (Source: A Guide to Mass Shootings – Mother Jones)
The NRA does not care what gun they are defending they will defend the gun of the moment. It's the slippery slope they do not want to talk about. Can I own the Phalanx 1B CIWS, powered by an attached generator and mounted on a trailer for mobility. Armed with a 20 mm M61A1 Gatling gun the unit is capable of firing 1,500 or 2,000 M246 or M940 rounds per minute At what point does the NRA say you can own this gun but not that gun . Please start the debate on the slippery slope .Make them take a stand and maybe we as the american people can compromise.
well if it were up to the NRA every gun would be legal because a law abiding citizens has done nothing to lose his/her rights. Bombs arn't legal right? neither are fully autos. your average citizen doesn't have a gautlen gun mounted on their truck but the cartel do. We are suppose to have eqaul power with government if not more the power is within the people not government. Government has more firepower then the citizens and then you wonder why we wont give up on the rifles its all we have left dam it we have bent over backwars accepting new legislation and regulations paying extra taxes and registration fees and we have done nothing criminal so back up already get on the other side of the fence here for a moment. And to all you clowns calling the nra the new kkk who the hell here is really racists are you saying that only whites are in the NRA becuase im hispanic a gun owner and a dam proud republican.
While you continue to rant, could you please at least spell correctly. Misspelling of common words shows the educational level one received. And you can't take someone seriously if you feel they are uneducated to speak/spell in a mature manner.
Alex is right. His fury is justified. No compromise. Americans will not relinquish their firearms without one hell of a fight. The truth will not be silenced.
Why are all you guys stomping your feet, throwing a fit over having your guns TAKEN? Nobody is taking your hunting rifles or pistol practicing guns. It is military weapons that is the issue. Do you think that there will be a gang of government thugs are going to go house to house and remove your weapons? That takes tax money remember. I wonder whould you and Alex be having these hissie fits if your five year old was gunned down at school by a mentally ill person with a mitliary assault rifle? And do you think if you showed up to school with your stash of weapons, you would have saved all those lives? It's called preventative measures, which are called for in these tragedies. With this kind of talk, one could assume you felt the killers were justified and PROTECTING themselves from a tyrannical government. Oh Please.
sewsharit i take it back after re reading your comment i would pray no one gives you a gun ever. You are sick p.o.s you assume that every gun owner that purchases an ar must be ready to shoot up a school or mall? your a sick f that needs a mental heatlh screening. That just blows my mind that idiots like you say these f'd up things and walk around proudly. I say that every idiot like you that buys a kitchen knife must be ready to cut up children how does that sound not to nice right go away.
the guns are not the problem it the closing of all the mental hospitals to put them out on the street to live which has not saved a dime and has put our country at risk. however they were as needed as much as work houses but sadly both were run horabily spening much less then they did for jailed criminal people
as this problem were seeing today did not exist in the early 80s were I know of 3 Pyco kids who were simply locked away
however if we do rebuild those they should spend more on them and monter them better so abuse does not happen
David. I wholeheartedly agree with you. I live by an Air Force Base and the state's mental hospital. Plus our city has a bazillion empty buildings. We are grappling with the homeless camp under our interstate in downtown. The city at least has supplied them with an outhouse. No one seems to care. However, if I had any inclination my child and/or mate showed signs of losing it, the first thing I would do is not let them near any weapons, which includes guns. Then I would seek help and be vigil of their activities. But lots of folks don't want to admit their kin is crazy, let alone capable of acts of these natures. Removing guns for the safety of others is the owners responsibility. I believe no one should have easy access to assault weapons. It is unnecessary for people (and that seems to very few) to own military style weapons. If one person on your block has one, and the rest don't and the 'tyrannical' government were to oppress your neighborhood by shooting up your neighborhood, the one guy with the assault weapon is not going to save himself, let alone anyone else. Hence, why I believe more attention and funding should be available for mental health care to keep the sick person from hurting themselves or others. Thank you for the sane comment, it is refreshing after all these Rambo wannabes spewing garbage. Have a nice day.
I think someone likes to hear the sound of their voice a little too much. How rude do you have to be to come to an interview and act like this man did. I know 3 and 4 year old children who have better manners. I believe in the right to bear arms but express your opinion accordingly. I hope people who watched this or read this know that Alex Jones does not represent the America I know.
Paige. Hooray for you. I was shocked to see this grown man throw a fit. I didn't allow my child to throw a fit or be rude. I wonder what his mother thinks. It is scary that one can blow up on international television. Think how he acts in private. Hope he doesn't have kids. Thanks.
you want to know why we need ar 15's with high cap mags? here's your answer. remember the LA riots?
I do remember the LA Riots, and not knowing your age (mine is 50) I also remember the riots in Watts, the showdown at Wounded Knee, and lived most of my first years to junior high school with the Viet Nam war, its protests, and the civil rights movement. I also remember when Bobby Kennedy was killed. Historically, we have had a rough time and even then we were not faced with what we are dealing with now. Now it is just lunatics and criminals shooting up our country. I am a gun owner, but I am not scared of the government as I am the freaks who think we need to arm ourselves against our government. Our government did not kill those children in Sandy Hook, but a messed up kid who was most likely bullied and went unsupervised by his parents. So AR15's and the like will only make one feel powerful and be able to send a message that does not even need to spoken. I am leaning towards a huge method of gun control, not only the big boys now, but every gun, because it has gotten to the point that either we are all armed and shooting at each other for the least of little things, or nobody gets to play. Where I live we have over three shootings a day, most with deadly outcomes. These shootings are not sanctioned by our government, but bad people who don't know the difference between right or wrong. I just want to ask one question...could you really shoot a human being? and if so, would your weapon of choice be a AR15? and would feel better afterwards? I am not sure I could.
to Phyllis Balch, large doses of help some who suffer from mild form of this disorder.
Hello! I simply want to give an enormous thumbs up for the nice info you will have right here
on this post. I shall be coming again to your blog for extra soon.
So it has been a long time since I got a chance to talk about today, yesterday and tomorrow. This Ted Cruz is commenting, and kind of irritating me. I do not know how old this is, but I figured out how to delete it. I don't know who to address this to, so I'll chose Piers (and forgive me if I am short and might come back, waiting for bread to finish). I would love for Piers to bring Alex back on and ask him where his AR-15s (and the rest of his armory) prevented this horrific deed done by legal immigrants that everyone is pushing for. These two young brothers (and I mean YOUNG) have totally failed. One boy is dead and another on the way (sure they are trying their darndest to keep him alive so he can talk, but I hardly doubt it (if he survives he will lawyer up). I guess what I am saying is bring Alex Jones again and get his perspective on this. I'm pretty sure he will be more stupid than ever, because how else can you interpret these boys actions. And they did not belong to the NRA. I'd like to also know their take on this, proud of yourselves old boys? That could be your (not you Piers) 8 year old grandson. And this holy gosh dern stuff has nothing to do with guns. You, Piers, are so great at p e e p e e ing (I[ll get censored by your employer) I'd love to see this. Do not think I am any way, shape or form,. condoning these two (and more), but as far as guns go, they could never do the damage these two Russian brothers did to our people. Piers, I volunteer to be your body guard if that idiot has anything to say on your show. However, I think he's off in a hole somewhere licking his wounds. Peace out.
