Thursday marks the second birthday of the primetime CNN show, as on January 17, 2011, the British television presenter Piers Morgan first invaded homes in America – and worldwide – with the launch of his 9 p.m. program.
With the unabashed candor and explosive passion that quickly became his trademark, Morgan opened his CNN tenure by welcoming precisely the type of big name guest he'd soon become known for hosting: Oprah Winfrey.
In it's two year existence, "Piers Morgan Tonight" has continued to host the types of guests and stories that have, in Morgan's own words, "energy and dynamism, humor."
Since launching more than 100 weeks ago, the show has featured an endless array of mesmerizing and engaging guests, including the inspiring Dalai Lama and the provocative Robert Blake.
But as the world has changed, so too has the program, with an increased focus on breaking news and current events, like the Arab Spring, the Aurora Theater Shooting in Colorado, and most recently, the school shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn.

As did the murder rate everywhere else in the nation. Funny thing, nowhere was this drop more dramatic than on states that actually loosened gun control. Poor Piers. I guess that complex thoughts that involve more than one point are rocket science to him. I guess that expecting for him to comprehend country-wide trends over the last few years is too much. If he had an ounce of likability in him, I may actually feel sorry for him.
It's amazing that this elitist, pompous, narcissistic propaganda peddler has lasted two years on the air, but then again, we're talking CNN, where journalism died a long time ago.

With Piers Morgan's temeramrnt, I don't think he could qualify for gun ownership.
Mr. Morgan, You repeatedly state you "dont get why Americans need AR15s". You say, "nobody has given me a reason". I have listened to you make that statement. New viewers may believe you have yet to hear an answer. But, after watching several programs, I have heard several guests explain their Common Sense, Coherent, Logical reasons. If you continue to make statements to the same effect, your regular viewers may think you are incapable of reasoning, or that you are deaf. The reason I can site you is that in the last 100 years, governments have slaughtered over 100,000,000 people. One-hundred MILLION. That includes men, women, AND children. Do not underestimate the evil that governments are capable of. Mass murderers, as bad as they are, pale in comparison to the power and evil capacity that ALL regimes are capable of. The Obama administration alone has killed hundreds of CHILDREN with drone strikes, and not a tear shed for their lost lives and innocence. When whatever gun control measures are taken, I challenge you to put this US government administration under the microscope and ask your audience and America at large why our technological power cannot eliminate our enemies "surgically", and instead indiscriminately take collateral damage and kill entire families. Please use your influence to save the world's innocent children, and not just our own.

Screw Piers Morgan! He's nothing short of a politician using dirty tactics to attempt to prove guns as evil. Cuts off people during debate, using terrible retaliation arguments ("How many gun crimes in Great Britain?" Don't worry, you won't get to reply for the other crime), and just being a terrible host.
Obviously he does not believe in any of our rights as Americans as he definitely is infringing on our freedom of speech by interrupting his guest and not letting them finish their answers!
I think it's time to give Mr. Morgan's time slot to someone who loves this Country.

Please tell me why 30 years ago there was no mass killings or School shootings when my dad had a SKS & a AK47 that had 40 rd clip's . You could buy both guns for under $120.00 each. Yet you never seen this killing back then.

Piers Morgan best gun salesman in the world. Watch him recieve his lifetime sales award this spring from the Gun Manufactures of America. Piers you have single handledy done what the NRA commercials, Charlie Heston on TV have not been able to do in 25-30 years to increase membership. I agree with you almost completely. However, you've developed a maddening habit of interrupting your guests...sometimes even when they are making a point that you probably agree with. But your tendency to interrupt has caused me to switch you off.

It is offensive that CNN has a host who is not a US citizen, trashing our country. Fired for faking soldier abuse photos
This isn't the first time Morgan, who loves to sensationalize and embellish, has been at the center of a journalistic ethics controversy. He was sacked from his position as editor of the Daily Mirror in 2004 for faking pictures of British soldiers in Iraq allegedly abusing a prisoner – photos that British Ministry of Defense officials said needlessly endangered the lives of British troops deployed at the time.
According to reports, the paper issued a statement saying it had been the victim of Morgan's "calculated and malicious hoax," and that the Queen's Lancashire Regiment – the unit singled out by the Daily Mirror – had been "vindicated" by Morgan's dismissal.
"It is just a great pity it has taken so long... and that so much damage has been done in the meantime," said a spokesman for the unit, Roger Goodman.
Added deputy leader and foreign affairs spokesman, Michael Ancram, "The photos that were published in the Daily Mirror have done great damage to the reputation of our troops, who are serving under some of the most difficult conditions in Iraq."
The BBC said the photos, which were published by the tabloid paper May 1, 2004, "appeared to show British troops torturing an Iraqi detainee."
"In one picture a soldier is seen urinating on a hooded man while in another the hooded man is being hit with a rifle in the groin," the BBC said.
The report noted that Morgan was ever-defiant and unrepentant to the end.
"According to one report Mr. Morgan refused the demand to apologize, was sacked and immediately escorted from the building," the BBC's Nicholas Witchell.

Quite frankly the American public has had enough of Piers. Although claiming to be a real journalist, he has obviously drank his own success kool-aid and it has gone to his head. Instead of rational arguments and creating a true forum for interactive debate, he has fallen into the tragic situation of letting his show become Jerry Springer like. Asking rapid fire questions that hold no true logical arguments, interupting his guests when they try to answer, consistently undermining those that have a different view than his, and then resorting to calling people names when he does not get his way; Piers does not display journalism excellence only the mockery of what CNN has become. CNN could take a few lessons from NPR on how it is done. Send Piers back to England if they will take him, because those Americans who want to watch CNN cant because he ruins it.

Piers Morgan is brash uninformed loudmouth on many topics, and especially about the World Champion comment relative to the Super Bowl chamption, in that it's an American Sport. Others have stated that Piers should bring on the UK or EU team and let's see what happens.
