On Thursday evening Piers Morgan welcomed the "Today" show's Hoda Kotb for a fun and very "sober" interview.
Known for her alcohol "enriched" 10 a.m. hour with co-host Kathy Lee Gifford, Kotb shared details of an alcohol abstinence plan that the pair plan to extend through the month.
"It's depressing," Kotb joked. "It's a tough hour to get through."
Morgan then asked Kotb if she'd recommend alcohol for the rest of the "Today" cast to which she teased, "nothing like lubing it up a little. I don't think it could hurt."
Earlier in the program, live guest Mark Sanford opened up about returning to the national spotlight, and embarking upon a new run for Congress.
The one-time South Carolina Governor spoke honestly about how his public failings had humbled him, and opened his eyes to a new learning experience.
"A lot of people said, 'Look, Mark, I'm not going to judge you on your worst day any more than I judge you on your best day,'" said Sanford, in discussing public forgiveness and acceptance.
"There's an amazing reservoir of human grace out there," he told the "Piers Morgan Tonight" host. "There's a reservoir of God's grace that each of us have to access ourselves as best we can."
Watch the clips and listen to the interview as Sanford talks about his hopeful return to public office, while Kotb shares additional details of the debauchery that comes with hosting the fourth hour of "Today."
