As Tuesday marks the first day of Barack Obama's second term, this evening "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomed a live audience, and a full collection of guests, all charged with evaluating the job the president has done thus far during his tenure in Washington, while also laying out expectations, predictions and inspirations for his final four years in the Oval Office.
Joining the program as part of his first official day on CNN, Jake Tapper shared a bit of insight from the nation's capitol, offering a glimpse at what the commander-in-chief will look to accomplish over the course of the next 100 days:
"Obviously he's talked a lot about trying to combat gun violence, and we'll see efforts legislatively right off the bat on that," said the anchor and Washington correspondent. "I also would expect, of course, some of the budgetary issues, of course, will be forced upon him because of the forced spending cuts, the so-called sequester being pushed back."
In terms of both parties working together, to actually pass legislation, Tapper told Piers Morgan that things could get complicated:
"There are areas where there should be some bi-partisan cooperation. Some of them, there will be some pretty difficult fights."
Seated directly across from the host, meanwhile, Mark Cuban offered his opinion as to the state of the country at present, specifically from a financial perspective:
"First of all, I don't think America is in bad shape at all," said the millionaire businessman and owner of multiple companies, including the NBA's Dallas Mavericks. "When we talk about debt, everybody likes to compare it to households. It's not the same. A sovereign debt is not the same as debt I might have or any of us might have as individuals. We can't print money, the country can. We don't have a central bank, the country does. So, it's not even apples to apples."
Watch the clip, and listen to the interviews, as Tapper, Cuban, and Morgan all evaluate the state of the nation, and look forward to the next four years in America.
