Less than 24 hours after the former mayor's passing, on Friday evening "Piers Morgan Tonight" paid a special tribute to Ed Koch. Three weeks prior to succumbing to congestive heart failure, the legendary leader of New York City sat down with Piers Morgan in what is believed to be his final formal interview.
Described by the host as being a "true American original," Koch called upon his trademark brand of candor to detail his stance on a myriad of topics, including the "Guns in America" issue:
"I believe we need a constitutional amendment to really address the issue," said Koch, regarding firearm legislation. "Because when we're doing it, as we are currently doing it, a little bit at a time, and then the United States Supreme Court has a tendency to strike down what we do."
Later on the program, Morgan welcomed the return of Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russell, as the "Silver Linings Playbook" pair resumed their chat from the previous evening, with the two-time Academy Award nominee revealing her early life aspirations:
"I had a million dreams," said Lawrence. "I was going to be a doctor."
