READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
On Monday evening, "Piers Morgan Tonight" took it's primetime program on the road, setting up shop at Tactical Firearms, in Katy, Texas.
In continuing to address an issue that Piers Morgan considers paramount to the health and future of America, the host invited rocker Ted Nugent to provide his candid brand of energy and insight:
"I think you're obsessed with guns," Nugent exclaimed, questioning Morgan's intense interest in firearms. "Ninety nine point nine nine percent of the gun owners of America are wonderful people that you are hanging around with here today. Perfectly safe. Perfectly harmless. Wonderful, loving, giving, generous, caring people. Would you leave us the hell alone!"
Saying that "this is a debate that has to be had in America," the "Piers Morgan Tonight" host explained that he will not be leaving Nugent and his fellow firearm friends alone.
Tongue in cheek, with sarcasm dripping, Nugent noted what he sees as irony:
"You're the perfect poster boy to stand up for the things that make no sense at all to common sense people."
Watch the clip, and listen to the interview, as Morgan and Nugent engage in spirited debate over the depth and breadth of the Second Amendment and what necessary steps need to be taken to curb gun violence in America.

My only question now that Piers had an experience with a semi and fully auto rifle, does he still need someone to explain to him what the difference is between a fully automatic military style gun and a semi automatic civilian style ar-15??? I would love to have an answer from Piers on my question.
Texas wants to kill americans over guns! Speak seperatism nightly on TV. we'll fire the first shot , we'll blow you the hell south back into Mexico, amigos!!!!! and stimultae the economy replacing the american flag with 49 STARS!!!!!! Remember the Drones will be the new slogan!
Texans wouldn't be the only ones you would have to battle. Plenty of people in other states all would stand strong with them.
So you intend to fight 99.999% of the people mister Nugent is talking about by murdering them to take a gun they would only use to defend themselves with. God let me hope a person like you would never pass a background check. It is people who think like you that are the real danger to society.
Molon Labe smartass.
"Remember the Drones"? – This is exactly why the 2nd amendment is written the way it is... because at some point, maybe not within our lifetime... maybe 300 years from now when we've forgot the lessons of the past and sold off the few rights we have left for pretty words with the promise of safety, some closet psychopaths, with a sharp tongue and too much ambition may make it into the government, and if they do all that will stand in the way of tyranny similar to that witnessed in Nazi Germany, Communist Russia, or Communist China would be those who have the means to stand up and fight... Look no further than syria to see what happens to an unarmed populace.
You'd be surrounded and dealt the same hand. Best just shut your mouth.
wow!what a jerk.... had no idea there is such low level of culture in the USA.
May be off the subject a little but I noticed that the guy at the shooting range said he bought his gun for $12,000 as an investment and sold it for $45,000. Anyone wonder who he sold it to? Makes me really wonder who would pay that much for an assault weapon? Is the gun registered? This is the problem! It may be used against you or a family member or friend? Let's get real about these needless weapons. I, for one, do not want them used against my college student daughter or anyone else. We have rights, yes, but which rights are more important? The right to own weapons or the right to live where we feel safe?
Can only be bought and sold by Firearm dealers, not the public.
With that kind of gun you can't just sell it at a gun show to your neighbor. It is absolutely registered. You have a 6 month wait before you can even buy it as your required to get approval from the government (ATF) first and then all serial numbers and owners information is registered.
The M2 that he was referring to is an NFA(National Firearms Act) restricted firearm. Any Full Auto, Short Barrel Rifle/Shotgun, or Suppresor is considered an NFA item. The process requires an extensive background check completed by the ATF including photo and fingerprints. Otherwise the sale of the firearm would be illegal and subject to federal imprisonment and fines. The type of people that own these are typically collectors and also have a good bit of money. Not the kind of people that are likely to break the law after going through the trouble to legally acquire one.
All rights are important. Not just for you but for everyone. If a person is feeling threatened because they live in a state or a city that allows lawful conceal carry or the lawful ownership of guns, that person could always move to places where guns are banned....like downtown Chicago. Too many people have been brainwashed by the liberal media into thinking that only criminals have guns. Well, us good guys do too! So if you feel you are threatened by guns, there are places you can go, like Chicago. Otherwise, leave us the Hell alone and get over your damn stupid phobias.
I'm actually more afraid of your college daughter hitting me with her car than someone shooting me,
I, for one, do not want them used against my college student daughter or anyone else. We have rights, yes, but which rights are more important? The right to own weapons or the right to live where we feel safe?
That is quite the statement. Particularly the "to live where we feel safe". Try explaining this line of thinking regarding the Donald Scott Raid. Google that event. Then try Donald Carlson Raid. Then Robin Pratt. Do these people qualify as "ANYONE ELSE"? "Which rights are important"? Do you condone murder? If not then go after the killers, not the innocent. Turning the other cheek is not working.
"The right to own weapons or the right to live where you feel safe" They are not mutually exclusive. I feel safe where I live because I have a weapon to defend my family.
What makes you think you have a "right" to feel safe? All laws, including the laws of nature itself, do not provide for such. Are you not responsible for your own safety? Our rights are granted to the individual. NOT the collective. Those who believe that others should give up their rights for that of society are socialists and are ignorant.
A great man named Benjamin Franklin once said "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." I for one agree with this sentiment with my entire being. If you feel threatened by guns where you live feel free to pick anywhere they're banned. But just as a big fat for instance anywhere that guns are banned have a higher violent crime rate than anywhere where they aren't.
Iff 99.999 % of Americans targeted are law abiding, caring, loving generous people. Then why do we have the highest murder rate in the world with guns, and 99.999% percent of people feel they need a gun to protect them cause they don't feel safe?
What part of law abiding didn't you understand? I'm not going into the ghetto looking for those monkeys. Where do you think the majority of our murder rates come from? School shootings???
@oneluvsurfer. What I'm saying is . If 99.999% are law abiding, then the Ghetto people you talk about, are the .o1% per Ted. So, 01% make up all of the gun muders in America? If you believe that, then I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you. It just don't make since.
I am going to make this really simple for you, so maybe if I am lucky even you can understand. When someone says 99.9999 percent they mean the large majority. If you don't think that the majority of killing involving guns doesn't come from our ghettos then maybe you really believe you have beach front property in Arizona. Maybe you really do think school shooting make up our high murder rate. Way to try and attack me. What are you 2? This is why our country has a problem. People can't have a conversation with rational statements. We have a bunch of 2 year olds that want to call you names because you made a good point that goes against their ignorant one.
You want to talk statistics then maybe you should look at the statistics in Birmingham, Alabama. It has one of the highest murder rates in America and is almost all black on black. Pure stupidity on their part for not being able to agree to disagree and move on.
Jeff, you have been snookered by the media and the libs. Your obsession about statistics loses the true reality of these events. First, look at the size of the U.S. population. Second, look at the FBI statistics for the number of murders by guns. Third, look at the demographics for those murders. The vast majority of murders by guns involve criminals targeting other criminals. The criminals involved are not law abiding citizens that, for the most part, keep and use their guns safely. The criminal elements usually don't obtain their guns through legitimate means. Not all of the law abiding citizens have or want a gun. That is their right to choose. Those that do have a gun/guns use them for hunting, sport, or self defense because they don't want to be victimized by criminals. It is a reasonable fear that has been exacerbated by an increase in crimes against people in their homes. Most legal owners know how to use their weapons and would refrain from using them unless necessary to protect themselves from death or grevious bodily harm. In fact, most gun owners will likely never shoot their weapons outside of target practice at a range or while hunting. Very few lawful owners/carry permit holders engage in random acts of violence or commit murder. Like most police officers, most would prefer to never have to draw their weapon in self defense because it means someone could kill or harm them too. The only "Rambos" out there are people like Stallone who makes movies glorifying gun violence then cry that guns should be banned. Look at where the hypocrisy is greatest and where the big picture facts are. And remember, there are liars, damned liars, and statisticians. You can't just say we have the highest murder rate so all guns of a certain class must be banned. Look at how they are used, the frequency of deaths or injuries caused by use, and the persons that perpetrate such heinous acts. It's really only when you look at that big picture that you can "target" the a reaonable and fair solution.
Jeff, the reason why we have the highest murder rate in the western world is not because we own more guns, it`s because of the inequality that exists within our society, just look at the gap that exists between the rich and the poor. There are 10s of millions of Americans that don`t have health insurance, let alone car insurance. By contrast, the Swiss, Germans and French, respectively on a per capita basis, are the 3rd, 4th and 5th largest gun owning nations on the planet, and yet they have some of the lowest homicide rates in the world. Contrast these with Britain, another unequal and morally bankrupt society, that has a virtual gun ban, and you`ll see that not only does Britain have one of the highest violent crime rates in the world, but its per capita homicide rate is nearly 40% higher than these close large gun owning European neighbors. Violence is not about guns, but about the levels of poverty and the moral bankrupt state that exists in some countries.
On further reflection each country is a product of the quality of its lawmakers. Like Britain, our lawmakers have sold us short by not addressing the issues of inequality and the poor collective morals that have been allowed to fester in our society. Guns are not the problem.
Piers was correct comparing Americans to yemenis
Well the Swiss are up there in terms of gun ownership and have one of the lowest homicide rates in the world. In fact their per capita homicide rate along with the Germans and French, two other large gun owning nations, is nearly 40% lower than the British, who have a virtual gun ban.
READ the article and pay attention to what you read. He said 99.99% of GUN OWNERS are perfectly harmless perfectly safe. He did not say 99.99% of the American people own guns. This is why some liberals need to be straightened out – They just don't pay attention or they aren't comprehending the entire picture. GEEZ.
The USA is #24 in the world for % of population in gun deaths. Yet it is the highest by far in ownership, more than 80% of population. Stop believing everything you hear from morons like Pierce Morgan. Every household run by a male over the age of 20 in Switzerland has a fully automatic military weapon, by law. What they don't have is violent gangs.
I am all for the second amendment, but how come just about every time I see Ted Nugent he is wearing camouflage and waving a gun around.
Kind of creepy.
The reason that Ted Nugent is wearing camo and wearing a gun is this he is a firm believer in the 2nd amendment. He promotes the utmost safety when it comes to guns. He owns thousands of achers of land for hunting. No he doesn't just go out and shoot deer for the fun of it. He goes out and humts for food for his family. He is a lot like an indian he doesn't waste what he needs. He also has a hunting show one of the Sportsman channels and every time we watch it he promotes Gun SAFETY and not wasting the food he hunts. NO He is not creepy.
I really want to make a statement, not really reply to oneluvsurfer. What gives Morgan the right to speak about America? I don't think he's a citizen. He is from England that gave up the right for citizens to own guns. This is NOT England. I think when it comes to what we do in America, it should be stated by a American. Pier just shut up and go away. Talk about things in merry old England or whatever else you'd like to talk about. But leave American affairs to Americans. You grand standing idiot.
Although he's not a citizen, he does have a right to speak under the 1st Amendment. Just like I do as a UK citizen living and working in the US. The United States also gives me the right under the 2nd Amendment to be a gun owner and to protect my family and myself. As you rightly pointed out, a right removed from me by the UK Government. I say removed from me, not given up by me.
The difference with Morgan and myself is that he has a stage to spew his crap from. I do not but know this. I love the country that I have rights in. God given rights which I will do all in my power to uphold. As I said before . . . These are rights, not privilages.
Now to the mail point. MORGAN . . . . DO US ALL A FAVOR AND SHUT THE FK UP ABOUT THINGS YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.
If I was famous and on Mr. Morgan's show, this is exactly what I would say to him.
Mr. Nugent makes a great point. Would you (Piers) leave us the hell alone! More to the point, would you, Piers, swim back to England and crawl back under that rock that you slithered out from underneath? Better still, how about you take a long walk off a short pier, Piers. Don't come over here and tell us how to run OUR country. It was American guns that liberated us from your dictatorial, oppressive, tyrannical king 230-odd years ago. And screw your hypocritical monarchy in all its raging glory. Queen Lizzy can take a flying leap up a fat man's ass! And while we're on the subject, Mr. Nugent's 'music' sucks...I use the term loosely. It's not music...it's noise. But thanks, Ted, for your stance on the 2nd Amendment.
If we were all like Ted Nugent there would be LESS gun violence. He is anti drug and alcohol....check out the stats on drug and alcohol related gun violence, Piers...do you think drunks qualify as mental cases?
Yeah, why is it that most liberals are so anti-gun, saying they fear for public safety, and many of them are so lenient toward drugs and alcohol...
Piers – to be a reporter, you have to do homework and get your facts right. On the issue of guns and gun control, you would also do well to brush up a bit on U.S. history. Your antagonistic views on firearms seems to be linked with your country of origin. If you want to live in that sort of realm, go back to England. After all, it was the militia (i.e. everyday citizens) in this country that freed us from the tyranny of the your homeland's rulers.
Morgan's response to Nugent about why the former was attacking lawful gun owners and ignoring recidivists and the issue of mental illness pretty much defines the collapse of journalism at CNN. The network has not only lost its audience, but its claim to being any kind of "news" network at all.
I I find it very interesting that Americans seem to need AR-15s to defend themselves in their homes and to shoot animals when hunting. I live in Canada 7 months of the year and 5 months in Florida. In Canada to hunt wild boar a bow is the suggested weapon and to hunt black bear a 12 gauge. My children have hunted caribou and buffalo in the North West Territories with ordinary rifles. Are the animals different in the US than they are in Canada or is it that in the US hunting is not a sport? Owning a killing machine or owning a sporting gun?
People keep using the word need. People will argue over the proper caliber for certain game animals, but from the need standpoint, do we need cars that drive faster than the speed limits, or do we enjoy having something with a smoother handling thru corners?? If we are going to go back to the way things were in the old days we would be using a spear to take down animals. The rifle has its purposes which different people view differently; the main point is we are attacking the wrong thing that is not going fix our issue and the people aren't going to stand for taking away a tool that plenty of law enforcement and military prove a substantial use for.
AR 15s are fun to shoot and fun to shoot pigs with. However that's not the reason people are buying them. They're buying them because our military has them, along with higher powered weapons!!! Someone needs an AR when an AR is being used against them.
As you would see the round it fires is the best for defense. Do a little research and you see why. Lower possibility of over penetration, greater knock down power because of the round's energy. Very simply military and police use this round for a reason.
What a sad commentary you made on the mental state of some US citizens – you need these weapons to defend yourself against your own military.
as a hunter with 40 years experience hunting deer, bear, and wild hog...I can see you haven't hunted very much. And anyone else with more than a few hunting seasons under their belt would tell you the same. Boar...anything from a .223 to a .300 RUM works just fine, as does archery equipment. I know several people that use a knife or a spear. Black bear, a 12 ga is used only by fishing guides in Alaska...actual hunting is typically a .30cal center fire or larger rifle. Personally I use either a .270 Win or a 30-30.....archery is only for the purists. Your arguments are failed if you are uneducated in what you say. Try reading a Sports Afield next time before posting something about which your experience is as limited in hunting as an ABC news anchor in an English class.
Moe, the hunting for caribou, buffalo, and moose on the back of a snow mobile in the Northwest Territories of Canada – do you know where that is? – should qualify. Oh yes, the suggested weapons I mentioned were taken from the pages of the hunting guides that are paid to get people the game they want in Canada.
yes Pat, I know where the NWT is...but I do not use guides for my hunting experiences. I am an experienced enough outdoorsman that I do not need someone else to show me how to find game or hunt. I suppose just being from Canada makes you a better outdoorsman than I....you are invited south for a hunt....But I digress...you are a Canadian, and I am American, and the second amendment or our gun laws here are of no concern of yours.
AND.....the second amendment says absolutely nothing about deer season. This is not about hunting. Read the Federalist Papers.
Mr. Massier, I'm sure you mean well but you should concern yourself with the issues your own Country has, you obviously don't have a real grasp of what the 2nd. is about. By the way I am a hunter and i am not impressed by your knowledge in that field, I seriously doubt you have ever done any boar hunting.
Mr "Massier" we in America are not so easily persuaded to lay down our guns, as say a Frenchman would.
When kids are being slaughtered in schools and cinemas, I'm not sure that this unwillingness to lay down your guns is something to be proud of. Unfortunately, it's the root of the whole problem.
When four times as many people are being slaughtered on the road almost everywhere (except for Amish towns) in this country, I'm not sure that this unwillingness to talk about tougher traffic laws is something to be proud of. Unfortunately, it's the root of the whole problem.
Unless we get past HIPPA, the AMA, and the ACLU on these background checks, good luck keeping people who are unstable or outright mentally ill from getting guns legally. You can pass all of the gun laws you want and do any kind of "universal" background check with it and it will do no good unless you can find out whether the person purchasing the weapon has such a background.
Piers – Please keep going – I've watched the most astonishing ignorance by these right-wing gun toting Americans who are so paranoid it is frightening! You are a voice of reason and sensibility, and we downunder in Aussie support you totally.
So your telling me that the concerns are fairy tale ideas and these things have never happened in the world by human beings or governments?? I'm not saying i'm expecting tomorrow for the world to end but there is a difference between that and being realistic to history. I would however say that is not my primary or even top reason for owning a rifle of this sort. Just look at the news overseas and how some societies are crumbling right now. Are we really that different?
Why don't people focus on the actual, real and present crisis at hand, which is that children are being gunned down in schools, instead of worrying about some far-fetched tyrannical government scenario? I can't believe that people say that it is more important to have these weapons 'just in case' of such a situation, when it means our children are dying right now. Get your priorities right!
May – Criminals and murderers have ZERO regard for gun or MURDER laws. Outlawing ANY weapon will have exactly ZERO impact on the little white kids getting slaughtered rate ('cuz let's face it, the slaughter of little white kids is the only thing liberals are REALLY concerned about...).
I’m with oneluvsurfer. While our government going tyrannical in the near future may be a remote possibility, I’m not sure if an economic collapse in Europe won’t cross the Atlantic... (or we know we are quite capable of creating our own economic disaster, don’t we?).
Having said that, but still, the possibility of tyrannical leaders arising is not nil, if the government turns tyrannical and starts WW3, casualties are not 10,000 a year, but MILLIONS. I think it’s wise to make sure that “just in case scenario” would never ever happen, and one of the best ways, in view of world history, to ensure that is “the people being well-armed” so that it’ll be darn difficult for governments to forcefully go against what the people wish.
Just like we accept the idea of having nuclear weapons “just in case” one of those countries goes rogue and uses WMDs against us. I tell you, if we abandon our nuclear retaliation capabilities, it’s no longer a “just in case scenario”, some country will try to invade America. Same thing with the government and the people, if we are not well-armed, I’ll bet there will be tyrants arising in a few hundred years from now. Wouldn’t it be our duty to spare our great-great-great-grand-children from similar atrocities millions of Jews had to go through...
Then why do you care? You don't live here and what happens here doesn't matter to your life. Piers is an idiot who doesn't seem to understand the issue he's obsessing over.
That is great that you Aussie's love Pierce so much. Both us and the British would be more than happy if you would take this sack of human waste known as Pierce Morgan.
ok..then if you Aussies love him so much, then let him move into your neighborhood and tell you how bad things are for you, and because you have a certain ingrained culture that it is not as good as it was in olde England, and you should change everything you have done for the last 230 years and do it his way.
This is how Aussie's new gun laws are working out. About like outlawing liquor worked out here in the 1920's
Most recently, McPhedran and Baker found that there was little evidence for any impacts of the gun laws on firearm suicide among people under 35 years of age, and suggest that the significant financial expenditure associated with Australia’s firearms method restriction measures may not have had any impact on youth suicide.
A recent report by the Australian Crime Commission said a conservative estimate was that there were 250,000 longarms and 10,000 handguns in the nation's illicit firearms market. The number of guns imported to Australia legally has also risen, including a 24 per cent increase during the past six years in the number of registered handguns in NSW, some of them diverted to the black market via theft or corrupt dealers and owners.
Yes, Piers, please keep going! You have my full support.
From, an American who thinks that some Americans are living in a bubble of ignorance and arrogance. Wake up!
yes...Americans that live in the metropolitan New York, Chicago, and LA may very well be living in the liberal bubble of out of control governmental restriction. Do not forget the 'fly over" states, the so-called "hick" south, and the Rocky Mountain divide, where the evil thoughts of .....freedom, and rights....these things actually still exist...having lived and worked in such places, it is far obvious to me and any traveled American, that these areas are much more "arrogant and ignorant" to the rest of the country. perhaps you should stray outside the confines of your bubble of such, and realize that there is a vast land outside the city limits.
as said before...if you Aussies love him so much, then let him move to the "down under" and try to change your laws, traditions, cultures and way of life.
Some Aussies once told me while vacationing in Fiji..."Don't let them take your guns away...Our chrime rate went way up"
i say to Pierce "Get out of the country if you don't believe in the second ammendment"!!!
Those Aussies were incorrect – simply not true.
Geez... here we have another foreigner piping in on something that does not concern them and of which they have no knowledge. Ms. Kelly please stay exactly were you are.
This issue concerns people the world over, just the same as the treatment of women in Pakistan or India concerns people the world over. Believe it or not, there is nothing wrong with taking an interest in what goes on in the rest of the world, in fact, it's encouraged in most places. And when a country that Australia has strong ties with goes through horrors like the Sandy Hook and Aurora shootings, of course people are going to care and have an opinion. Anyone who has children would be sickened and shocked by it. And in the aftermath of this horror, it's fair to say most reasonable people in the world are astounded by the unwillingness of gun advocates to make any compromises to stop it happening again. Maybe instead of worrying about 'foreigners' interfering in your business, you should take some interest in the rest of the world. You might learn something.
Ma'am please do yourself a favor and butt out of this debate which has absolutely NOTHING to do with you or your country. I have children and i keep my Glock .40 next to my bed to protect them and look i havent gone crazy and shot up a school. Were not all homicidal maniacs here in America
So you're speaking on behalf of all Australia are you. Don't think so. You've been smoking too much pot through your didgeridoo my little Sheila.
Do us a favor . . . Fly Morgan down under and let us know how that works out for you.
G'day and have a bonzer one.
Sandy, what do you mean all Aussies support Piers? I know people like Steve Lee, one of your fellow countryman, along will all the other gun owning Australians, don't shed Piers one ounce of support.
I see from the first line of the article that it speaks of "Prime Minister John Howard", so it's not exactly a current article is it?
The sentiment is still very relenat today. The gun ban in Oz promoted political action by shooting groups.
I truly don't think Mr. Morgan understands that most Americans that see a need for small arms (not a tank, as he so often asks), is to defend themselves against criminals. Sometimes there is one, sometimes there are many more than one. Way back durng the L.A. riots, there was a famous picture of a Korean shop owner standing on the roof of his shop, holding a ruger mini-14. A weapon that is the same caliber, and holds the same amount of ammo as the "evil" Ar-15, while a sea of angry African-American rioters were held at bay in the street. The shop was the only one in the area not to be looted and burned. I wonder if the shop would have been saved if the owner had a six-shot revolver, as Mr. Morgan would like to think?
Hey poster boy, you got out gunned last night, you really looked stupid again, never laugh so much(at you) you were out talked, GREAT JOB TED! Oh yea pilots have guns also. How much money are you making off of this? SHAME ON YOU!!
What that man does not matter to American please do not give him a voice why would we care what Ted nugent thinks .Who the the hell cares I had to turn channel
I bet you had to turn it off. Just the thought of someone that is smarter and more compasionate about a subject than Fears Morgan almost makes me want to vomit. Oh wait, you probably turned it off because you have been watching his show for so long that you are alergic to experts and truth. Probably so alergic that you yourself probably threw up a little. Way to go Ted we need to see more of you on the televison.
325 Army suicides in 2012 a record
"The U.S. Army reported Thursday that there were 325 confirmed or potential suicides last year among active and nonactive military personnel. - For years, the Pentagon has struggled with how to identify service members at risk for suicide"
Suicide Factors, Rage Shooting Factors, and now .. Longevity Factors and Cancer Factors will be added to existing pages.
Psychological Harassment Information Association
My question would be, do you think suicides would not happen if those people didn't have access to guns? Or would they find another way? What are the statistics of people who use carbon dioxide from their car exhaust to kill themselves, or overdose on prescription pills? Should we again look at the item or the person??
It's time for CNN to pull the plug on this twit Morgan. Even liberals can't stand him.
as uncle Tes said, "HE IS A POSTER BOY..." Personally I think every time he opens his mouth he advances the cause for conservatism. The man does not know how to spin like the rest of the liberal so called media. CNN and any other mainstream as a journalistic outlet has completely collapsed and Piers is the "poster boy" for failed journalism.
Yes, well said, now if only we could make the children in our middle and high schools listen to Peirs Morgan maybe we wouldn't have as many teen pregnancies. I'm 33 and married and have children and love my family but after I started watching PM after the Sandy Hook tragedy (checking in on the enemy) I started to use a condom again, and I've had a vasectomy!
I totally agree, it is time for Mr Morgan to go home. I used to depend on CNN for most of my news, not anymore.
Thanks Ted for speaking the truth.
As a United Kindom citizen living and working in the USA, I'd love the oportunity to discuss this issue with you.
Not all UK citizens are against guns, especially those of us that went through the UK governments rifle ban, which lead to the handgun ban which led to the handgun ban!! See where I'm going here ?? THIS IS EXACTLY why Americans who believe in the 2nd amendment see the long road to banning guns in America.
Lets discuss and let American hear and see two views from Britain. We're not all blinkered.
Additionally . . . I can't believe that during last nights interview with the radio host, you could not comprehend the comment that "that's why Britain got rid of a Monarch with absolute power"
In case you forgot history . . . The Monarch had total power in the UK until Oliver Cromwell led the revolt which established a democratically elected Parliment which spoke for the power. The present Monarchy (which I enlisted to defend along with the country and its laws) is simply the country's figurehead with NO power. Governement has all power.
I believe you 100 %.... people like Piers Morgan, along with alot of liberals in this country think all they have to do is say it or react to it a certain way and everyone will believe them. I was watching last night.... typical reaction to what Ted was saying... acting as if it wasn't true. Most of us ( at least conservatives ) know that not all UK citizens feel that way... Prob your more in the majority if i had to guess... just like conservativism is more in the majority, though the liberals and tv stations like cnn would make you believe different... it was refreshing to read your comment though... verifies what a lot of us believe :)
Still can't believe that I still tune into him every now and again. Maybe for some laughter I guess.
I wasnt going to miss Uncle Ted dance rings round him. Morgan will never win any debate with anyone who knows what they are talking about. The man ???? is clueless.
At least you know we from the UK are not all like this moron.
methinks Piers also forgot completely some of the reasons us colonist revolted in the first place; too much governmental control.
piers morgan is the main reason we need to bring back pubic hanging
Yes, I couldn't agree more. Bring him to Kansas I believe we still have hanging as a capital punishment. Oh wait PM hasn't commited treason here...he's a redcoat. That means load up your muskets boys hide in the woods and don't fire until you can see the whites of his eyes.
My comment should have read rifle ban, which lead to a handgun ban which led to a SHOTGUN ban.
FYI America . . . . The UK now want people to register their Airsoft and BB guns. UNBELEIVEABLE. Oh and its also illegal in the UK to carry a knife. Totally defenceless against the criminal element.
Defend the 2nd amendment at all costs
Also the Scottish Parliament last year passed legislation to register and license all airguns. What is being proposed in this country is the slippery slope, the Scottish/British examples demonstrate how bad it can get!
Furthermore, despite Britain's sweeping gun ban, reported gun crime and injuries have doubled in the decade since the ban, and its violent crime rate is one if the highest in the western world. What's even more remarkable, despite its gun ban, Britain's large gun owning western European neighbors have homicide rates that are 40% lower.
Piers always make loaded false statements in the lead up to his questions and then when the guest starts to answers he demands "let me ask my question!" What a terrible political hack this guy is. Good job Ted Nugent.
Mr. Morgan, what a joke. If you don't want guns go to Mexico and see how well it works. Leave us Americans alone. Your country is more screwed up than ours. I have friends in the UK and one put up barbed wire after her house was broken into on several occasions and the police came to her and said she had to take it down because the criminal might get hurt! Its that kind of thinking that is the problem not guns. Stop hand holding the criminals and throwing the victims aside. If the government won't protect us we have the right to protect ourselves but in your eyes we should run and hide under the bed with the chamber pot and hope they just leave us alone.
Guns are as Harmless as Cotton Swabs
Pa: How'd the interview go today?
Junior: The GHCS are a pretty tough crowd.
Pa: Tough questions?
Junior: Well, they asked what I could bring to the organization, and I excitedly proclaimed "Guns don't kill
people, bullets do!"
Pa: uh oh…
Junior: Blank stares and shakes of disgust, so I asserted: "ROIDS don't win bicycle races, People Do!"
Pa: oh boy…
Junior: Red faces and puffed out chests, so I said: "Cigarettes don't cause cancer, People Do!"
Junior: As security was escorting me out of the room, I requested: "Cotton Swabs don't kill, People Do!"
Pa: No way!!?
Junior: Way! The boss stopped security and said "wait a minute, we can work with that."
Junior: I got the job!

And one last comment – which one of these Texan geniuses was the one that said "retarded people" when talking about background checks to make sure that guns are not in the wrong hands. The people they are checking for are those with a mental disease not those that are developmentally challenged.
Typical liberal, because you have no common sense reply to the argument you change the subject. Excellent move!
As per Mr. Nugents remark that "person protection rifles" are not assault rifles, then what does the "AR" in AR15 stand for? Gun right advocates are correct in that a "Personal protection rifle" ban would not make any significant difference in the rate of mass shootings. The reasoning that should be obvious, and is being overlooked; is the overall net benefit of the reduction of guns, especially ones capable of mass injury on American streets. If the 2nd amendment gave you the right to have perceivably any form of transportation you wish on American streets, then following a gun right advocates reasoning, I should be allowed to have a Top Fuel funny car to do my grocery shopping. Like cars and the responsibility of having and operating one, There should not only be back ground checks to buy one, but mandatory licencing to own and maintain one.
In about 2 seconds you would know what AR stands for. Your ignorance probably thinks it means Assault Rifle. Here, let me help you my uneducated friend:
AR-15 – Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaen.wikipedia.org/wiki/AR-15
The AR-15 was developed as a lighter, 5.56 mm version of the AR-10. The "AR" in AR-15 comes from the ArmaLite name and stands for "ArmaLite Rifle".
A BRAND OF RIFLE!! I bet you think the things you blow your nose with are really kleenex too.. Since you do, they are actually tissues. Called branding.
THANK YOU ONE!!
I'm sick telling the uneducated what AR means. However . . . the great brainwashed mob will still refuse to believe it since the great Hussain first used it as assault rifle, then they believe it to be tru.
Try telling them what SLR means as in SLR L1A1. Geeez . . last guy asked how it could load itself.
personally I like the "American's Rifle" branding of the AR. And while I do not own an AR ( yes, that's right...I am a lever action aficionado) there may come a day when I would like to purchase on AND I do not see it the business of anyone if I do. I am a sane, responsible, educated, adult of 50 years of age. I served proudly in the U.S. Army. I do all the things a responsible citizen and a member of my community should do.....and I vote.
Wow, where do you people come from? In all reality this discussion should be "why are the American People denied the right to own and carry FULLY AUTOMATIC weapons" since this is the weapon we would be facing in the event that the 2nd amendment be fully implemented as it was intended by our forefathers. People kill, not guns. Guns are just inanimate objects just like knives, machettes, baseball/cricket bats, tire irons etc. A person could kill just as many, or more, people as in these recent incidents with just a pair of scissors. I'm pretty handy with my staple remover.
Somebody please tell me that there is a least as many people saved by guns in a year as people that are killed.
good question...it is not reported, but as many lives are SAVED by guns. I can attest to the fact that my life and that of my family's lives ( and or health ) has been protected by my use and ownership of a firearm on at least on 3 occasions and my property has been protected more than that.
I wish I could find a reliable source for those statistics but I can't. One simple question though. If a bad guy shows up at your house with any kind of gun, ak, handgun, whatever, do you think you and your family has a better chance with or without some sort of equal power? Have you ever shot a hand gun or a rifle? Which do you think is easier to be accurate with?
No problem. The number of people saved by guns is astronomically larger than those murdered (unjustly killed, if you will). I base this statement on use of weapons by Law enforcement and our military. If the media reported fairly and WITHOUT their political agenda you would see that the number of deaths resulting from civilian self defense in the U.S. greatly outnumber those resulting from the wrong side of criminal activity. Today’s media is more into drama and sensationalism looking for personal gain and career advancement as reporters. Apparently there’s no “bonus” in the truth.
There are as many people saved by guns every year than there are killed; and I'd actually lean towards more people saved or alive as a result of firearms. One of the only differences with firearms in the hands of law enforcement and the military vs. citizens is that we can't just pull out our gun and demand someone stop commiting the crime they are in the process of doing. We have to shoot as soon as we show it or we can be charged with assault with a deadly weapon. There are lots of suicides in the military and LE community as well. The majority have been ran through firearms/combat training and in some cases polygraph and neurosych testing. The question is why do they still commit suicide after they are deemed normal or safe to carry weapons wherever they are. That's the problem is that people sometimes just lose it. We need to understand why this happens and what triggers homicides vs suicides in certain individuals.
For what it means to my fellow Americans if LEO can have certain types of firearms and magazine capacities then we should all be able to own the same as well. Until we figure out who shouldn't have them and that goes for everyone (military, LEO and citizens) and of course the people that currently should not have firearms.
I've seen a video where a guy was shot at 46 times by 6 LEO. He had 40 bullet holes in his body. I'm sorry but if they deemed it necessary to shoot him that many times to stop the threat then I should have the same ability to stop a threat to my family or any other person on the street for that matter.
As an old firearms instructor once told me...you stop shooting when the threat has hit the ground and is no longer a threat, your weapon jams or stops functioning, or you run out of bullets.
Teds music career is dead, hes brain dead, and hes lost in the seventies!!! Every texan that goes on the tv nightly news is saying they'll kill americans if you take their guns ( which were not ). seperatist and terrorist speaking. Go ahead and fire the first shot texas. We'll blow your asseess south to Mexico, espanol, amiogos. Remeber the Drones. The Drones we wont fire a shoot! !. You'll stimulate the econonmy withus popping up factories all over the country for thousands of new worker in FLAG FACTRIOES putting out NEW FLAGS with 49 STARS!! RED NECKS!
And Alex Jones, what a loser, ( say it dont spray it, use breath spray when you get too close) . This guy and his so called mauraders, Alex would sure as S*^T be at the back of the his posse if they were to confront anyone. Remember Saddam Hussien hiding in the little underground hole when they found him with his gun. OH I could so picture it Alex!!!!!!!!!!!
I could say so much, but, I'll only say this: I have always been a loyal CNN fan. And, I even like, or did like, Piers. But, this jerk has really taken it a little far. He is not even from the US, and doesn't understand how many of us feel about our right to bear arms. I'm a Marine myself, and I'm not a guy that has have several guns to be happy. But, if I want to buy an AR15, and pass the background check, then I should be able to buy one. This does not make me a bad person, or give this British a__hole the right to question us in the US that wish to retain that right. Why doesn't he go back to the UK and take on another cause....like, getting everyone's teeth fixed.
Hi Piers; One thing really bothers me about the gun talk. No one from either side is talking about the people who are buying all these guns. How many will just "own" them, not attempt to acquire gun handling skills, shooting skills or training in using the gun in a crisis situation (especially school/movie theater, etc., where there is an active shooter). I'm a retired Flight Attendant who has been in a crisis situation with an airplane fire. I learned a lot about myself and what I could handle and what others in my crew could handle during the evacuation of the aircraft. Ability's vary widely in human beings, even those with intense training, when facing a crisis situation. Two of us did well, the rest...did not. Then there are guns...and how people handle them in an emergency. I once had the opportunity to talk with an army
Sharp Shooter. I was curious about what it took to do his job. He basically said, he compartmentalized, put his fear aside, took a deep breath, focused on his target (and while he was doing that another part of his brain was doing all the calculations necessary to make a sucessful shot), then taking the shot. How many of us could remain that cool during a crisis? Think about the man who strapped on his loaded gun (safety OFF) – so he could protect himself and others – and went into a theater where, during the movie, his gun fell out of it's holster – something he didn't notice. Later it was found by two youngsters when one of them pulled the seat down and the gun fell to the floor. Thankfully the kids knew not to touch it and to contact an adult. The man, I understand, lost his carry permit. Thank Heaven. Then there was the New York financial area street shooting of a co-worker by a man. Police shot at him. A bystander was killed, an accidental killing from a Police bullet. Then there was a Portland, Oregon shooting where in a firefight between a shooter and Police...the area was littered with bullets..but no one was killed. These are some examples of how hard it is to shoot something or someone when the target is emotions are high, even when you are trained to perform in crisis situations. Even Dick Cheney managed to shoot his friend during a hunting trip. Judgement gets skewed by emotion all the time. Could any of you who have just bought guns, really take down an active shooter without taking out innocent bystanders?
I agree that there are people that may not be able to operate in a high stress situation and some records show that they freeze up and don't do anything. Some people may even tend to over react. I don't know anyone in the gun community that tells someone that is a passifist to run out and buy a gun. Lots of times I have offered to show people and have them shoot a gun before they buy guns for protection. There are some people that decide after shooting firearms that they don't want to protect their family that way and that's great.
When someone decides that they want or feel confident with carrying a weapon in public, either concealed or open, they need to think about the innocent bystandard. Most gun owners know that is one of the 4 major rules to owning a firearm. You are responsible for every shot you fire. They do however make rounds that are less likely to overpenetrate a target, thus helping the chance that you won't shot anything that you aren't intending to shoot.
Exactly Sherrie. I think people are naive to think so. Mark Kelly said that when his wife Gabby Giffords was shot, the man who apprehended the shooter was then nearly shot by someone arriving on the scene who mistook this heroic man for the shooter.
When the shooting occurred at the foot of the Empire State Building in August last year, at least 7 innocent bystanders were injured by stray police bullets. If innocent people get shot by highly trained officers, how much worse would the situation be with untrained civilians whipping out guns and firing. If people want to be heroes with their guns, they'd also better be prepared to serve time in jail for manslaughter when they shoot an innocent bystander.
With many of these debates becoming purely ideological, you have to beat these highly self-indulged maniacs at the facts. Many of your guests have a limited understanding or history, psychology, and the nature of government/ laws. You should bring a psychologist on your show. Ask them about the nature of killers, sociopaths, or developmental disorders which cause a disconnect between how they conceptualize reality / and even death. Have them speak about these high levels of adrenaline released during one of these events and the relationship between adrenaline/ cortisol and thought processing /menory. Talk about how many of these people who have gotten to this psychological state of disillusion will not be deterred by a singular firearm in a school. And if anything, will inspire the” purp” to be over-prepared if anything. In regard to these people speaking about our founding fathers and background checks, ask them if they believe security to be a public good. Tell them that Adam Smith was a strong supporter of public goods which were intended to mediate some of the ill effects of a market society. I have to commend you Pierce on being at the forefront of this very import debate. You have them on the ropes. The educated populous is very much aware of these hypocrisies that the gun control “experts” speak about every day. Don’t give up and try and stay healthy through this stressful time! – You should bring that nutbag Alex Jones back on your show and ask him if cheeseburgers made him fat?! I have a feeling he would tell you it’s not the cheeseburgers, it’s the people who make the cheeseburgers…. Just another logical flaw, which implies in the highly common phrase, people kill people, that well actually, it’s the people that make the guns that kill people. But that’s an argument for another day.
Be honest and keep at it,
HISTORY LESSEN 101
Do you know why you can voice your opinion?
Do you know why we have the right to bear arms.?
Fact is, I would like to see the elimination of "TRULY ASSAULT" weapons, but the lawyers given an inch, have always taken a mile, using precedent to further and further their political agendas. Be careful, a freedom you take for granted could be next.
I guess my thought on this is that if they chip away at the 2nd, when are they going to chip away at the 1st? Imagine that! No more Peirs Morgan. Hell yeah...not really, he's like the Sunday funnies. I just can't take anything he says seriously. If I did I'd have to find me some Prozac and Xanax to get back to reality.
Oh and George I have more educated populous in my pinky than you would know what to do with. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them uneducated. You are turning into Peirs Morgan yourself. I suggest turning off the tv, some meditation, and soul searching and maybe just maybe one of these days you could have your own personal beliefs and not be such a d-bag.
C'ville Va. radio station reported that Twisted Sisters band member saying, "Ted Nugent avoided the draft by pretending to be sick . " Ha Ha Ted .
my friend knows a guy who told him that another guy said his neighbor had a sister........
wow..that is real concrete info there friend.
How many GUNS does your boss Ted Tuner own? My guess is a truck load! GUNS dont kill! People do! All u do is get people upset on your show. Why don,t u take your A** back to the UK or what ever rock they found u uder!! If u don,t like my country THEN GO HOME !
Guns + Bullets + People kill people. It takes all three for a gun ot person to kill. When Piers firred off the M2, the reason the owner of that gun had that gun was PURE Profit, an investment. The AR-15 was a military designed weapon in the 1950's but never wildly used by the govenment. I was taught to use a rifle and shotgun, and taught to hit what i aim at. No one in their right mind NEEDS that much fire power.
The Swiss, Germans and French are the 3rd, 4th and 5th largest gun owning nations on the planet, and yet they have some of the lowest homicide rates in the world. If guns, bullets and people kill people, why isn't it happening in these large gun owning European countries?
Furthermore, the majority all guns owned in Swiss homes are automatic assault rifles.
The USA has turned into a culture that looks like a professional wrestling feud. Obtuse, emotionally fragile, people who obsess over utter nonsense. Death panels, victory mosque, Obamaphones, birth certificate, etc.. and now, "Obama is going to take your guns!!" They live in an angry, delusional bubble which reality can not permeate. Once again, it's up to the intelligent people of the left, and center to carry the trogladytes, and I'm getting tired.
I refer to my earlier post.
As a UK citizen I had my rifle removed from me by the UK government who banned semi-automatic rifles. THEN they went after handguns and banned them. Were they happy . . . hell no. They then went after shotguns even confiscating them from farmers who needed them to help protect livestock from foxes etc. Britain is now a gun free country except for the military, government and royal protection officers and CRIMINALS.
Now living in the good old USA . . . I see the exact same happening. Oh before Britain did it, it was done by one A Hitler in Germany who then sent his bunch round removing weapons from anyone who wasnt a Nazi member and we all know how that went dont we.
Apples and oranges. You do not enjoy the protection of the 2nd amendment. While guns and their use has been regulated here for a century, you would never get the confiscation of 99% of rifles, pistols, or shotguns past the Supremes.
True there is no 2nd amendment in the UK but I enjoy the protection of the one I have in the USA.
They said in the UK it wouldnt happen. Lower courts struck it down but by fair or foul they kept banging away until they cracked the "right to own" From that point on, the right to own went and went fast.
As one who has seen it happen while being told it wouldn't happen, and reading and WATCHING statements from this President and this administration, in my opinion, there is very good reason to be afraid for the 2nd amendment.
Only yesterday the President again called for a ban on "Semi automatic weapons" note the wording and watch the tape yourself. He did not mention "semi-automatic rifles" he said WEAPONS!!!! That was not a slip of the tongue as Biden, Pelosi, Feinstein and others since last week have used the word weapons and not rifles.
EXPLOIT FOR PROFIT, AS ALL YOU VIEWPOINT BLOWHARDS DO, BUT
AS TED SAID SO ELOQUENTLY, "YOU JUST DON'T GET IT AND NEVER WILL."
OUR FOREFATHERS FOUGHT AND DIED TO FREE THEMSELVES FROM THE ENGLISH CROWN, ITS TAXING, TO WORSHIP YOUR RELIGION OF CHOICE, ETC.,ETC.,ETC. TAKE A HIKE
Mr. Morgan, One thing T. Nugent said is so true: you can never understand. I don't really like guns, but all this debate has made me think about our history. I feel that the reason there is a second amendment is because our founding fathers were fighting tyranny and wanted to make sure it was never allowed to happen in our country. While I don't follow the line that the government (i.e., Barack Obama) is trying to take us over, I do believe that it can happen in any country. History tells us it has – time and time again. It is in the American genetic makeup to protect their right to fight for themselves. Our forefathers came to this country to escape tyranny and to this day, the immigrants who come here are trying to be independent and self-sufficient. The point you seem to refuse to hear is that people will kill other people even if they don't have a gun. It is Crime, Mental Illness and Drugs that we need to fight, not guns.
i wish , hope and pray that people start shooting these murderers on the right soon so this country can be a better place. strat by shooting all the nra murderers the morons like ted.
I wish these morons could learn how to spell and form a rational thought. Maybe some education is what is really needed. You my friend are why I carry a gun.
I bet your parents and kids will be so proud of you. You want someone else to do it for you!!!
Use your Obama phone to order your Obama gun and get off your ass and do it yourself.
YOU are the reason decent people need weapons to defend ourselves.
Junior: As a new employee of GHCS I would have you know that any gun that can't shoot at least 2000 rounds per minute poses no viable threat to the public at large.
Didn't any of you people play dodge ball in elementary school? Come on people!
sooo... the lazy fat kids will get out first? that sounds like a good way to help our obesity problem then!
please somebody start shooting all these gun hawks. do it soon so this country can save its children. start by shooting people like this kkk ted
For someone with views to ban guns you sure want to shoot someone. Are you sure the shooter at Sandy Hook was not kin to you? I don't wish no one shot unless they are breaking into my home or assaulting my family. Wait! That's what my so called assault rifle is for. Because the police are so under staffed and under paid they can not respond quick enough. Sure glad I don't live in Chicago! I'm sure the bad guy will wait till the cops get there ot make it fair. Moron just remember criminals do follow the law. SO this so called ban is only for the law abiding. DO you see the picture here? The criminal just laughs and can't wait for more gun laws. It makes his lifestyle easier! I was going to say job but that really isn't correct since I have a job and they are not the same. So back at ya Liberal puke!
I said do follow the law. It should state Do Not follow the law. Criminals that is!
I'd like to live next to you Ray. I'd put a sign out in my front yard that says "Liberal d-bag neighbor that doesn't own a gun and wants you to give up yours too, and by the way he has a huge flat screen and loads of cash. Don't worry about me and my guns we'll stay in the house with the shades drawn"
I am glad Ted Nugent has been identified as a true Conservative voice.
without your guns and your so called second amendment, all you red necks are a bunch of cowards.
says the mighty keyboard warrior
You mad, Bro?
I was saddened to read some of the comments above. Most of the posts were a bit "off the wall" and many were mean-spirited and many were just plain wrong. Piers, you are one of many Americans that want the common sense proposals to ban semi-automatic guns and high capacity clips. As you have clearly stated," NO ONE needs these items!" They are worthless for hunting and target practice. There are many more and better choices for protecting home, love ones and property. I am afraid that the NRA and other gun enthusiest are not thinking straight about the future with thousands of more guns available. We are going to Hell in a handbasket!
Keep up the good work Piers.
Only a simple comment . . . He's not American!!!
"Piers. You are one of many Americans"
He's a washed up Journo fired by British newspapers, associated with a now defunct one and id winding you all up. Ask him about his shindig in London LOL
They're not worthless for hunting or target practice. Guns like the AR-15 are extraordinarily versatile. It handles hunting, self-defense, and sport shooting very well. It might the ideal gun if you want one to do all those things but are only going to own one. The fmj .223 ammunition is cheap compared to most hunting rounds. I personally know two people who hunt with "assault weapons". You should do more research.
Also, have you thought about why they use the phrase "common sense gun laws"? If it's common sense you don't really need to tell people. This is a well known fallacy. It's used to reassure you that your rationale for your believes is indeed correct to keep you from further investigation of the premises it's predicated upon. So while the rationale for banning high capacity magazines may sound just fine, reality is usually more complex. We had a 10 round limit for ten years. What statistical analysis have you done from crime data to support your conclusion? A lot of things people considered common sense have turned out to not be true. The world of physics is a prime example whether it's acceleration of gravity acting on a free falling body, quantum mechanics or time dilation. Don't rely on "common sense", like the Brady Campaign says, we are better than this.
Puke! What a suck up! You really have no clue! My right as you have a right to do and own as you please. So stop telling the rest what is good for them. My neighborhood is full of people with these type of guns and the thugs know that and stay away. Maybe you have tea with them and they will understand better!
Hi Pat, Sadly it's what you expect from people who put their 'second – amendment right' to own any kind of weapon they want above the safety of Americans as a whole. It's not a rational conversation they're interested in having. Concerns me that these kinds of people actually do own guns.
Piers, on your program did I not see an AK-15 semi-automatic turn into a fully automatic with a small switch?! I thought the governments banned all fully automatic guns decades ago. Was that fully automatic legal? Is that gun sold everywhere?
Yes that firearm is legal to own in the United States if you can pass the background check, pay the special tax, afford the god awful pricetag and are well not a criminal in the slightest bit. They are not sold in Wal-Mart as Fears Morgan proclaims and they haven't manufactured any since 1986, except for the military and LEO.
It was an AR not an AK and that's another thing you said earlier high capacity clips, What are those? There should be something that states that if you don't know anything about the subject that you want to propose a ban on or keep from your fellow country men you should know a little bit about the subject you are talking about.
I would really like to show some of you just exactly what is what in the gun world. Another sad thing is that big M little organ says 'a gun that can fire 100 bullets in a minute.' Hell I can do that with my Ruger 10/22 and a few mags with magazine changes included in that minute.
The point is if you don't know something you should shut up and do some research. I know personally everyone that I know that has a gun would love to talk to those of you that don't know what is going on and the lies they are telling you. Do yourself a favor and visit a gun range, talk to a gun dealer, get some facts and then come back and post something. Just remember the first rule about gun ownership: when seconds count the police are only minutes away.
Yes, we'll leave you mentally disturbed right wing coward lunatics the hell alone as soon as you leave little six and seven year old school kids alone and decide to turn your guns on your worthless selves instead.
without your guns and so called second amendment all you red necks are a bunch of cowaeds. with your guns you red necks are scared of your own shadows
Cowaeds? Did he just try and call us cow heads?? So, you are saying our military and forefathers are cow heads because they bear arms?? I think you need some serious help and if we actually achieve some change to help the mentally ill you may just get the help that you need. Is it just me or do the people wanting to take away our rights seem more hostile than the ones defending them???
They seem very hostile but that;s the normal.
When they don;t like what they hear or see, they stamp their feet, scream and whine. Mom Obama will come to their aid.
Simply put . . . they all need a swift kick in the ass and sent to their rooms.
Oneluv and Scott I couldn't agree more. These guys on here don't want us to have guns because they can't pass the background check. Hell seems like quite a few wouldn't be able to pass a spelling or math test either. I thought all of us gun owners were the stupid, uneducated rednecks?
Teddy were gonna keep coming and coming, and so on and so on, You look and sound like your on meth ( my opinoin just sayin) Texas wants to kill americans over their guns, Remember the DRONES!!!!! Did you see the NRA's Waynne Laperier gets back handed on his beloved FOX NEWS Program about his conpirasies and speaking for everyone but himself. Back ground checks are IN!!!!! Oh 1994 Hippocrate!!!!! Wayne
So now the tree hugging, scrounging lefties love the drones. Oh lets use them to destroy anyone who doesnt agree with King Obama. LMAO You sponges are completely brainless and he's leading you like sheep. Baaaahhhh
You lot are better than a good comedy. Lay off the 20/20
nOW YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY
smdavison, I'm almost certain you didn't hear the ol VP Biden the other day. I'm actually proud of CNN for broadcasting this the other day. Biden was caught telling the truth about gun bans and background checks when he said that even if everything passed it wouldn't even lessen the amount of gun deaths by 1,000. At least the NRA didn't stand on the graves of a bunch of dead children so that everyone could hear what we have to say. Biden lies constantly like Obsama to the American people. The NRA once held a view that background checks were fine. It's been almost 20 years since then and we have had a change of stance on that. It's not a lie it's called trial and error. We agreed with it back then and saw that it didn't work like they said it would. Enforce what we have already. Hire more LEO and security officers and lets deal with this mental health epidemic. Hell maybe some of these crazies wouldn't have killed anyone if we could have kept them so stoned with medicinal marijuana that they couldn't have gotten off the couch to get their cheetos.
So what if it doesn't stop as many as 1,000 gun deaths? As far as I'm concerned, if it prevents one single death it would be worth it. Remember these are not just figures, they are actual human lives for God's sake. Why is it American's seem to hate each other so much? What a sick, sick society it is.
I believe we should focus more on the mental illness issue and look into violent movies and video games our young minds are exposed to as if they are a natural part of our culture. The Hollywood people should put their profits second to the healthy mental development of our children. If anti-gun people say the 2nd amendment is not without limitations, then, I can say the same to the 1st amendment, can’t I? If we are going to ban assault weapons, shouldn’t we also ban the usage of imagery of those weapons in the entertainment industry? If we can save even one troubled youth from delusion, wouldn’t it be worth it? Why do Americans want to watch movies where people are killing each other so much? What a sick, sick society it is.
What a maroon!
I am more afraid of these wingnuts than of any fantasy tyrannical government plot.
Maybe they will all retreat to their underground bunkers in the FAR north.
Nugent and his gun friends are nuts. There is no reason ever for any member of the public to have assault rifes and huge gun clips. I await the hate of the Republican nutty right responses.
still don't get it do you! AR is not assault rifle
As a vet . . . I would never try assaulting anything with a semi automatic rifle. So please for arguements sake. Get your facts right before commenting. or as your King Obama says Shout loudest and spout crap. They will believe. NOT
That's really irrelevant. The burden of proof is on the people proposing sweeping national prohibition.
Yeah but you have to remember where Obsama is from. Chicago where they say "vote early and vote often"
Pierce. Culture has nothing to do with respect for humanity. There are too many psychopath and too many people with mental problems in America, which is the downfall of our Country. The problem starts with brain damage caused by childhood vaccinations and our leadership does not care about the Country and the people to correct the problem.
"Makes me really wonder who would pay that much for an assault weapon? Is the gun registered?" The M2 that he was referring to is an NFA(National Firearms Act) restricted firearms. Not the kind of people that are likely to break the law after going through the trouble to legally acquire one.
wake up red necks down south. it is because we have a black president thats the reason you are all up in arms?. all you red necks should be sent to war so you can be blown apart .
You my friend are why I carry a gun. I am a gun owner and yet voted for the President because he didn't pull this crap his first term. I actually agree with his ideas on many things and i'm sure i'm not the only gun owner who voted for him. This is where I put my foot down though! You should be thankful that the first amendment gives you the right to make ignorant statements when really they should just put you up to a wall and shoot you since there is obviously no hope for you.
Chicago isn't in the South and what makes you think I'm white. Also as I said earlier I'm a vet who saw friends shot and blown to pieces as you put it so that you my dump, idiotic racist friend can sit all day doing nothing while typing bile out on the web. So do us a favor!! Know your facts before you spout and be grateful that you are allowed to spout the bile you do.
Now crawl back into your cave and think up some more crap to spout.
And you will need more than you have to take care of this Chicago law abiding citizen. Yes we do exist.
i dont need a gun to take care of you moron
Oh ray ray. Help is on the way buddy!!
Yes, I'm not a fan of Obamacare but please tell me that they will take this Ray guy away to his padded apartment building where he can't infect the rest of the world with his insanity. It seems as though he has a bit of a Napoleon complex as well, as a hate problem.
Wow. Ted's afraid. He knows he's lost.
I'll be buying my first Ted Nugent album.
Last night was the best Piers Morgan program I think I've ever seen. Every single person he had on the showed completed eradicated any argument that Morgan has ever made and continues to make! From the gun store owner, to the TX AG, to the two people he interviewed, to Ted Nugent. While I'm not a big Ted Nugent fan, he came across in a clear and cogent manner than any rational, logic-minded individual could follow. He absolutely handed Morgan all his arguments right back in his lap and did so in a way that he buried them for good!! B/Z to all those who were on the show last night. Prior to last night, I was thinking that folks should just stop going on the Morgan show. Nugent had it absolutely right when he said he's been monitoring Morgan's shows and is convinced there is absolutely NO way that anything anybody ever says is going to change Morgan's mind.
He truly is the Poster Child for the anti-gun movement. Ironically, what Morgan fails to realize is that it is his idiotic ranting that is in large measure responsible for the increased gun sales. I can attest to the fact that he ranks right up there with Feinsten and President Obama as to the reason I am buying an AR-15 when I never ever planned to do so before. Good job Piers! You're doing a great job at increasing gun sales. Keep up the good work!
Well aren't you a fool, spending your money on a gun just to spite gun control advocates.. you're just falling right into the NRA's lap aren't you? That's exactly what the NRA wants ignorant people to do. That's why they carry on about the government taking away the rights of 'law-abiding' citizens and such. And people like you fall for it, over and over, thinking that somehow you're outsmarting the government. You enjoy that gun now.
I want to know if Piers is really that bad at math or if he just assumes his audience is. He keeps spouting single point comparisons between the US and other countries as if that is evidence for causation. Does he have any education in statistics or calculus?
He has no education full stop.
I think Piers is trying to get people to look at the countries who have brought in strict gun control laws because it PROVES that less guns = less suicides and less homicides. The numbers don't lie. Some Americans just can't bear to look beyond their own back yard to see that maybe other countries are doing something better.
The problem is the numbers don't show that. There's no control for other factors, there's no time series data, the sample is selective. Statistically there's nothing there. I think most people aren't educated on the subject of statistics or developed the understanding you get from studying calculus and physics. Once you imply that some policy affected crime data a certain way you're automatically dealing with time series data. You'll at least want to know the slope of those values with respect to time. The UK has always had a murder rate lower than the US, including before their strict guns laws were passed. In fact, their murder rate was lower before they passed the gun laws. That doesn't tell you much but a single point comparison tells you absolutely nothing.
Piers's arguments are devoid of any substance. There's a reason he brings people like Alex Jones and Zimmerman's brother on the show. He's an entertainer. I noticed he let Jones go on a crazy rant and pretended he wanted a rational discussion but before that the only economist he brought on the show he yelled over as the economist tried calmly to explain the math to him.
No matter how right you think you are when you look around and see Ted Nugent or Donald Trump on your side you just have to know you're wrong!
Not to mention Scottie Hughes, Dana Loesch and Alex Jones..
You asked Ted Nugent a question on which countries had more guns per person per capita. You stated Yemen! What a bad example that is. So you compare law abiding gun owners to Terrorist! What an idiot you are. No wonder CNN is now known as the Communist News Network. Keep following OBAMA and you will see in due time what a nut job he really is. But then it will be to late to stop that change! So why not get real news and do what real news men use to do and gather the news. The national media is so Liberally biased that they don't even report the truth only the propaganda from a commie president! Leave us and our guns alone!
So what about cars and what about planes. One plane killed more than one shooter at a school. Remember 911? So move to another country if you are scared! I use my guns for my sport and hunting. I target shoot and this gun makes that sport way more fun. If I had to stop and put each bullet in one at a time then it would not be as much fun. All guns are accurate and can be fired at different rates. The kill zone is still limited to the shooter. So stop the nut jobs not the law abiding citizens. Back to planes killing what should ObAmA do to stop that? Oh government made it harder to board a plane. So now I can not take my fingernail clippers on board. What a joke that is!
Planes and cars are regulated by the federal government. They're safer now. Remember the Ford Pinto? If you're clean, criminal background checks shouldn't affect you. if you care about safety, you should embrace child-safety features and required training for firearms.
Ted Nugent is and always will be the poster child for the arrogant and the cowardly in this country. He is first and foremost a draft dodger that would have you believe he is the greatest American to ever live. Shame on him and his ilk!
Duh. I luv mah guns. They mak me feel manly. I need that cuz I have a tiny little weanie. The goburment better not try to tak my guns. I need them to kill darkies. Huh hu hu hu...
That's hilarious. You sound just like John Sterwart.
Debate on gun ownership aside, why is NO ONE making the practical and easily implemented argument for METAL DETECTORS in our schools? We certainly have them in courthouses and other public places. DUH!!!!!
It's sad how so few people know how to do their own research in this country. A simple analysis of an FBI database shows how gun control can make it more difficult for bad guys to get guns. In 2010 about half of Illinois’ 7,272 firearms recovered from crime scenes were traced to other states. In comparison, Texas, which has relatively weak purchasing and carry laws, had 8,163 of its 10,111 recovered firearms come from Texas. This trend holds true when comparing many other states. Based on the data, criminals in states with less restrictions have significantly easier access to firearms than criminals in states with stronger gun control legislation. Guns don't just magically end up in the wrong hands. They are often transported across state lines and sold in private sales because some states have tougher laws than others. The nation should use this data to show how tougher restrictions make it harder for criminals to get guns. Imagine how many fewer guns would end up in the wrong hands if bad guys had to purchase guns from international sources.
The numbers you gave do not show a decrease in the ability of criminals to get guns much less anything to show causation. That's nowhere near enough information to draw any conclusions from. The states you mention could have lot's of other things in common that contributed to those percentages, not only laws but voter demographics.
About 90% of guns confiscated in New York come from out of state sources. Check the database. Show me some research if you're confident you're right. Criminals in states like Illinois, Maryland, and New York have a much more difficult time accessing guns that were first acquired in their states. Many depend on out-of-state sources for firearms. States with weak gun laws are causing major problems for the states that actually address the issue. No state acts in isolation. And if you don't think national policies work, look at the next 22 highest-income countries. According to statistics, the US accounts for 80% of the gun deaths. Shouldn't this concern us? And may I remind some of you that Red Dawn was a fictional movie, not based on reality.
I'm only informing you that you have done nothing to show causation. You must control for other potential causes. You don't even have figures to show the rate of change over time. Maybe this link will help explain it better. http://www.stats.org/faq_vs.htm
I'm not making a case for causation. Imagine we're in a court of law. I've presented some evidence to support a conclusions. I've written multiple papers on this issue, so I'll be glad to present more evidence, but for now, I would like someone to use evidence to prove my conclusion is wrong. Many very smart people seem to think that these statistics are convincing pieces of evidence. If you have counter evidence, let's see it. Otherwise, all that we have is what's been presented: a problem (guns ending up in the wrong hands in various US states) and an explanation of the problem through statistical evidence. It seems that states with weaker gun laws supply more guns to criminals than states with stronger gun laws do. Please explain, using your own evidence, that my explanation/conclusion is wrong.
"Please explain, using your own evidence, that my explanation/conclusion is wrong."
Because like you said you're not making a case for causation. It's not evidence that gun restrictions caused anything unless it entails causation. That's blatantly redundant but you still seem not to understand it. Why would I waste my time presenting evidence for the negation of an argument someone presented without evidence. I'm not remotely interested. Take a statistics class and a logic class then get back to me.
You're missing the forest for the trees. I know correlation doesn't prove causation. There's no need to keep repeating it. Often in debates, statistics are used as evidence. You shouldn't avoid any statistic simply because it doesn't support your belief. I know stats don't prove causation. But when statistics show commonalities ad other trends, they're worth further analysis. Check where confiscated firearms are traced. State by state the pattern holds up. Easier access to firearms for everyone means easier access for criminals. Simple logic, supported by statistics in state-by-state and country-by-country analysis. New York, Colorado, Washington, Illinois, and Maryland have many differences, but one thing they have in common is that a significantly larger percentage of their firearms are traced to other states than firearms recovered in states like Texas, West Virginia, Alabama..., etc. If you want to ignore the facts, that's you're right. But just know that America is considered the gun country. There are other republics, there are other countries that enjoy even more freedoms than we do. But we are the gun country, so when our 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th amendments are taken away, at least we'll have our guns. Ignorance is bliss
"I know stats don't prove causation."
Real statistical analysis can sometimes be used to infer causality. You claim these laws caused some positive change yet you've posted no time series data showing change. I'll try to give you an example. If I were to claim that the cancer rate went up among residents living near a certain plant after the plant was built because people who live near the plant have a higher cancer rate than the national average, should we use that statistic to draw any conclusions? No, absolutely not. Maybe their cancer rate was even higher before the plant was built. Maybe the cancer rate was already increasing. Maybe the cancer rate was already declining but the rate of decline increased or maybe it decreased. Maybe the workers they brought in were from an area that really liked cheeseburgers and that affected the cancer rate. We have no idea because a single point comparison tells us nothing.
You may think it's evidence but I'm informing you that the figures you posted are not enough to infer any causation.
I'm starting to believe that you don't have any evidence for your side. Post something. You obviously have enough time. In the meantime, check out this link: http://www.bradycampaign.org/xshare/stateleg/scorecard/2011/2011_gun_trafficking_graph.pdf And for change over time: http://www.atf.gov/statistics/ If you care about the issue enough, you won't ignore the obvious, unless you're like John Lott and your research is funded by a major gun manufacturer.
Enough evidence yet?
Where do I start? All of the arguments presented have to do with someone taking my gun or preventing me from owning any weapon I want. No one wants to bring fastest and first to the argument. In any situation involving violence the person that is first to initiate violence will have the advantage. Secondly, if the person is very fast with his weapon then he can create even more damage to the target of choice. Our school shootings are the best example of this. Up until now, the school doesn't have any idea they could be the target. Therefore, they are woefully unprepared and the shooter has a huge advantage particularly when he brings weapons with such incredible speed. Speed that even if a trained police officer were there could not combat unless we say let trained policeman with even faster weapons protect our schools. Think of the disadvantage any attacker would have if he only had a musket in today's world. He gets off one shot and surely someone at the school could at least make it difficult for him to reload until more help could arrive. You can't argue that would create the potential for far less damage, because it would. Because Ted baby you are right anyone, anyone who wants to go murdering can easily go do it in this country. That is the freedom you want everyone to enjoy. You, Ted, simply want the right to defend yourself, so be it. But, if you become the target, Ted, and you are not first to attack and are slow, good luck. Somehow, all of you who claim that your gun ownership is about protecting yourself also think you are smarter, stronger, and faster than your assailant which is probably not the case. Ted, you are no spring chicken. These drug cartel guys are younger, faster and far more vicious than you Ted. These drug warriors are just that, warriors. Remember, they have killed people, you haven't as far as I know. The saddest part of what I am writing is that I love your music Ted. I have no issue with you hunting and your donations of deer meat to the food pantries warms my heart. I also could be the guy standing next to you when you go quail hunting. i think most Americans support your right to hunt. What I laugh at is the idea that you need any type of repeating firearm to kill an animal. How bad of an aim are you? As the gun shop owner said automatic weapons function on pray and spray. They are not accurate which makes me think that an unskilled violent person can more easily kill his target plus a whole lot more. Neat. The only valid argument left for automatic weapons is protection from the government. I think your violent battle against the U.S. government would be a short one once the missiles and tanks show up. Good luck with your paranoia and I hope no one attacks you tonight. Tip when sleeping with your beloved guns take a blow torch and warm them up a little bit so they wont be so cold when you are loving them.
"Where do I start?...The only valid argument left for automatic weapons is protection from the government."
You should start with research. No one is discussing automatic weapons.
In response to someone above gun owners stop approx. 800,000-2.5 million crimes a year.
Am I the only one who seen the NBC News report 1/20/13 that an AR-15 (WAS NOT) used in the Sandy Hook shooting. Apparently Piers Morgan Has not. And apparently he has not seen the video where his own people are protesting wanting their gun rights back and for us to remain strong on this issue. What the hell is going on. Ted you hit the nail on the head, JUST LEAVE US THE HELL ALONE.
i want to say this, you say why does anyone need a 30 round clip.... i say why does anyone need a 50,60,70 thousand $ car.....my point being, being you have the right to own the car and we should be able to own our clips...and the biggest thing is for this to all work you would have to get them from the "bad guys" first and that would never happen...should we band hammers too......or certain cars from drunk drivers......you are truly stupid and if you want to act like this go back to where you are from jack___. leave us the hell alone!!!!
good point but its time people stopped comparing cars etc to guns.
Owning a car is a privilege. Owning a gun is our RIGHT!!!
Thank you Nuge! No one has said it better, clearer or more succinct: the majority of the guns the Antis want to condemn are owned by law-abiding citizens and are not used to commit crimes. All we, the law-abiding ask is LEAVE US THE HELL ALONE! If the Left, the Liberals, the Democrats paid more attention to actual CRIME and not to people they don't like personally, maybe something concrete would get done. Stop punishing the law abiding and start punishing the criminals.
Why is Ted Nugent news? Isn't he just the male Sarah Palin? Ignorant and uninformed, yet rife with hubris. Have we sunk so low that we consider this "entertainment"?
So you think the ranchers who have illegals and drug smugglers in their bacyard with AK-47's along the U.S. border don't need an AR-15?
There must be a lot of mentally ill people in the country since there are 11,000 gun deaths and 100,000 people wounded per year. Just think of how many more deaths there would be if everyone in the country had a gun. With so many more gun deaths it must mean that most people in the country must be crazy. Remember only crazy people kill other people with guns according to the media.
Sounds good when you twist it that way but you forgot about how many of these incidents invovled illegal pocession? Criminals don't follow laws...remember? Of course you did.
Actually, the tally from gun deaths is much higher – around 30,000 including suicides. 11,000 is just homicides. There are many, many more non-fatal injuries from shootings. And for those that think that being shot and not killed is not that big a deal, just think of the kid who appeared on Piers Morgan recently, paralysed now because of the Virginia Tech shooting, or Gabby Giffords whose life is forever changed because of being shot. These statistics are just as important too.
Your first mistake was listening to the Liberal Puke media.
Ted Nugent = A confirmed draft dodger during Vietnam. Nothing else needs to be said by him. A coward once a coward always.
I would like to see an expose on all the guns and weapons that the American police and US military have at their disposal. Fully automatic machine guns, hand grenades, grenade launchers, flame throwers, rockets, missiles, tanks, jet fighters , bombers, even atomic bombs. The kinds of weapons and organization that could massacre millions if ever turned upon US citizens. Nobody ever talks about that. And that kind of thing happens routinely in other countries. Look at Syria today.
Good. This is the first thing I've ever heard Nugent say that didn't sound crazy.
Ted Nugent does not speak for me. I think he should just "leave us alone".
Ted Nugent lol what a spokes person. A man that poo’d his pants to dodge the draft and has pled guilty to poaching more than once. A man that loves our country so much he refused to fight for it and refuses to follow laws designed to protect its natural resources. That’s the best person the NRA could put up
As Uncle Ted stated, the numbers of people killed in the United States by guns is skewed. Because, again, as he stated, those numbers include criminals shot by police or home invaders shot by home owners.
Now, I believe the media has to take a look at how they handle cases of shootings, abductions and hostage situations. Some of the deranged populace want only recognition. Their 15 minutes of fame. Instead, the media gives them hours on end when the event first occurs and then days and days of rhetoric in retrospect. Stop feeding the indulgences of the deranged and notoriety seekers. Stop giving them names, ie, Beltway Sniper, etc.
Once a tragedy like the Connecticut school shooting HAS occurred don't keep rebroadcasting it day in and day out, much less go on for weeks. The families of those children don't need to be reminded every time they turn on the television or pick up a newspaper or magazine. They lived the horror once. They don't need to relive it over and over again.
The media needs to be more responsible as to what they broadcast and print.
1. Gun regulation does not mean gun confiscation. No matter how many times you say it.
2. There is NOTHING in the 2nd amendment about protecting yourself from the government. The words "well regulated militia' do appear. Yes... WELL REGULATED.
There's nothing well-regulated about gun-laws in America, so it seems the second amendment has been completely violated anyway.
The United States is an adolescent society. This isn't meant to be condescending, but merely a fact. When you grow up as a society and exit the 'teenage' years, you'll realize how silly and immature you're all acting. It may take another 50-75 years, but eventually the paranoia, selfishness, anger and petulance will go away. Along with your guns.
The only anger is by you puke Liberals. Just another attempt at your so called Utopia.
Alright if banning so called assault riffles works then explain why from 1994 to 2004 US Dept. of Justice Study showed that it had no effect??? Assault riffles were banned and so were high capacity magazines. Why are we doomed to keep making the same mistakes over and over. Fix the broken system. Require that mentally incompetent, felons, and others that are banned from having firearms submit to mandatory regular searches. Keep the guns out of the wrong hand and strictly and swiftly punish those who violate the law. I know of 4 cases in NY that there were felons with guns in their possession but were let go with some type of plea deal. One actually went home to Rochester picked up another gun he already had and shot and killed his wife. Lets stop catch and release and put them where they belong.
My 84 year old grandfather owns an AR-15, he uses it for hunting, likes it because it is light, and easy to shoot. Also he loves to go out and shoot targets. He is a retired school teacher, Navy Veteran, and a member of his local church. Why make him a criminal? My Uncle works for NYS Dept. of Corrections, and as a Deputy Sheriff, and an Army Veteran, he too owns a few ar-15's, and other weapons that fall under that category. HE is an avid outdoors-man and shooter. Is he too a criminal and a coward. Myself I am a father of three young children, a Mechanical Engineer, Army Veteran, hunter, and I am a cub scout leader. I own a few AR-15's for sport shooting and hunting. I have an AK-47 semi auto riffle for shooting, along with a few others. So am I a criminal and a coward? No. Do I think criminals will be criminals no matter what laws get passed? Yes. Will these proposed gun laws work? Time has already showed us NO. Fix the system before we start talking about banning guns.
I watched Judge Judy and there were these two girls who were around 18 years old and they said they had attended over 20 drive by shooting funerals, doesnt that sound so wrong and make you think that something is not right with America? just something to think about folks
Ted nuggent talked about law abiding citizens having guns and nearly in the next breatth said a milion people had, I cant remember what, guns. How can a million, or millions of people all be law abiding citizens?
A cousin once removed of mine, came back from the second world war with a lugar and my grandmother confiscated it off him. She had no doubts about it being crazy to let young men have dangerous guns and I find my garndmother position much easier to understand than the NRA's positon. I would be scared they might do somthing crazy and get someone killed if htey had guns. This was in a family who practiced shooting as in pidgeon and pheasant shooting but they did not walk around with guns, except when they meant to hunt birds.
When you were talking with Ted Nuggent, it occurred to me to wonder what they do in the army to make all the young men with guns as safe as possible to themselves and each other when they are all heavily armed. How many accidents are there in the army? If the stories I think I remember hearing about the Spanish mili, their used to be military service here, are right, there were quite a lot of deaths though the soldiers werent fighting any enemies. Do all armies let soldiers walk around with guns all the time or just when they are on duty? What do military people like your brother say about being around a lot of armed young men? rose macaskie madird
1) Never point a gun at something you do not want to kill/destroy.
2) Never put your finger on the trigger unless your gun is pointed at something you want to kill/destroy.
3) Don't load a gun unless you are preparing it to be fired in the near future.
Follow these three VERY simple rules with a 0% failure rate, and your chances of a gun accident just became 0%. Miss one, and you are likely still OK (but scold yourself and DON'T do it again). Fail at more than one and there is a serious problem.
All gun accidents are 100% avoidable and boil down to human stupidity.
As for being around armed people, ever been to a police station? Courthouse? Ever see a crowd of cops taking a break at a restaurant? It's the way weapons are (mis)handled, not the weapons themselves, that make them scary/dangerous.
As for people doing crazy/hurtful things, this is a situation perpetuated by the media but is not that common AT ALL. We trust each other with potentially dangerous items all day and think nothing of it. Every time you walk across a street or drive down a highway, you are trusting your life to the people around you. Some of them are stupid, but most are OK. Honestly, I find people mishandle cars with far greater regularity than they mishandle guns. And as for the random person going crazy, how often have you been tempted to floor the gas when a crowd of people cross the street in front of you? For 99.99% of the people in the world (probably including you) that answer is never. But you hold in your hands the power to kill all those folks every time you drive. Gun owners like me feel the same way. We hold the power to take life, but never want to do so. It's only if someone else gives us the choice between using our gun and dying that we will use our weapon. I've had people try to rob me while carrying a gun. I left, rather than fight, because I saw an opportunity to do so. Most average people that are armed feel the same way. We DO NOT seek conflict.
BTW It's a Luger, and a crying shame your grandmother threw it away.
Those things are very unique in how they work, and are now collector's items worth well north of a thousand dollars. Depending on condition, I've seen some go upward of 4000, especially the ones that soldiers brought back without the import marks.
Lets see a Brit telling us how to use our guns. Hasn't he read any history. They tried to tell us how to run things a couple plus centuries ago, didn't work then won't work now. Piers does have difficulty making a sound argument for anything especially guns. He's just not particulary knowledgeable and arrives at his questionable conclusion based on emotion. He always becomes rude and insulting when he begins to lose the argument which is the majority of the time.
Had the Connecticut killer used a Hummer or Jeep to run down a line-up of kids outside the school and killed them that way, would anyone at all be talking about banning certain vehicles, especially if he used that military style assault vehicle, like the Hummer? I think not. We would instead be blaming the driver and the vehicle used would hardly be mentioned. And we would not hold other Hummer or Jeep owners accountable.
Those who want to take away guns have been wanting to do so for decades. They are oppurtunists and saw the Sandy Hook killings as a way to use emotion and outrage to further their agenda.
It defies logic to hold others responsible for the crimes of a crazed and mentally ill killer and is the exact same logic racists use when they blame an enitre race of peoploe for the actions of a member of that race.
This call to ban certain guns is bigotry at its finest and those who are demanding it are bigots, plain and simple.
Don't confuse apple for oranges. Vehicles are one thing instruments designed for one purpose and one purpose only, to kill another human, are not in the same class.
Exactly. I love the "Do you ban baseball bats?" line of questioning when relating a gun death to a death by Louisville Slugger. It's ridiculous and childish. Even if it weren't, to NOT restrict a dangerous item it just because ANOTHER item out there is also dangerous is just nuts.
Designed to kill or not designed to kill, does it matter? If a person killed by a gunshot and a person killed in a car accident, ARE THEY NOT BOTH DEAD??
Again, the “guns are deigned to kill” argument, as if other things if not designed to kill, it’s okay for them to kill people. It is illogical to fixate on guns when cars kill WAY WAY more. I’m only saying that if we had more discussions about stricter traffic laws instead, we can save “many many many more” than banning AR-15s. You are not scared of the fact that we lose roughly 90 LIVES EVERY SINGLE DAY in our country by car accidents... Yet you are scared of the fact that so-called assault weapons have caused average 42 deaths a year? (Sen.Feinstein. said 350 deaths have occurred since the ban was lifted in Sep. 2004)

SO PIERS MORGAN
Once again you show the world your true colors. Just like in Britain you put together a piece of crap. Don't you know by now that you get found out very easily. Of course you don't, you're to dumb.
You're a legend in your own mind you lying piece of crap.
Ted's a maroon! There's no breathalyzer test to ID people with tendencies to kill. Keep guns, make bulk ammo purchases and high capacity obsolete. Limiting the potential for carnage is at least a step forward.
Sick of gun control paranoia!
Ted's a maroon?? Are you implying he's colored? LMAO
Back to school for you.
If America is disarmed, we will be exterminated. Please loom at the examples of the past! Media reporters like you need to get their facts straight before they speak!!!!
Ted Nugent should not be allowed to attend the State of Union Address. After his public threat to Obama, he should be considered a security risk. Kids were arrested for making online threats after the Newtown massacre. What kind of nation throws its kids into jail for making threats, but celebrates an adult when they do the same? Ted Nugent should be shamed, not celebrated, before more kids decide to follow his example. How many more kids must die before this madness ends?
Ted Nugent is a draft-dodging chickenhawk that has stated on record he sat in his own feces in his pants for 2 weeks leading up to going before the draft board, just so he'd look crazy and wouldn't have to serve in Vietnam.
Why on earth should anyone respect a coward like that? That doesn't even get into his involvement with underage girls...that's right, he's a pedophile as well (republicans have a disturbing history of pedophilia – many hundreds of prosecutions against Party members and supporters such as Nugent).
Piers Morgan continues to dance on the graves of children as if he genuinely cares about them or their families. He will exploit anybody or any situation that advances his own selfish agenda. And that's exactly why he has latched onto "guns".
piers what can i say just a pawn for the elite bankers and new world order
We are ALL sinners saved by grace.
Piers did you hear that? He thinks you're obsessed with guns. I know you are!
Piers, I truly enjoy your program and recently have become a regular viewer. Good luck in whatever you do in life either here or abroad. As for Ted Nugent what a DIRT BAG. He calls himself a patriot, what has he ever done with regard to public service for his country, not much of anything. Real piece of work with a big mouth. Thats how he will go down in history.
Piers, I should also say i am a gun owner, but i would not have a problem with banning certain assault weapons as i have used them in the military and seen first hand the devastation that they can inflict. When law enforcement has to take on someone with an AK -47 type weapon it just makes their job a real nightmare having to combat that kind of firepower. I would however like to keep my hunting rifles and pistols. God willing and the creek dont rise. Best of luck Piers.
