Piers Morgan hosts CNN's Red Carpet special, interviews Jessica Chastain and Amy Adams

As the eyes of the entertainment world are glued to Los Angeles, on Sunday evening Piers Morgan hosted CNN's live, red carpet coverage of the 85th Academy Awards. Interviewing everyone from Dustin Hoffman and Tommy Lee Jones to Jennifer Lawrence and Sally Field, the host of "Piers Morgan Tonight" patrolled the event's signature crimson walkway for more than two hours, dishing on everything from the drama to the dresses.

Welcoming Jessica Chastain for a conversation equal parts endearing and entertaining, the star of "Zero Dark Thirty" explained the vision behind her shimmery, strapless Armani gown:

"The dress reminded me, it was a 'Happy Birthday, Mr. President' kind of dress," said the Best Actress in a Leading Role nominee. "It's an honor to wear a dress that evokes old Hollywood."

Soon after chatting with the 35-year-old Juilliard School-groomed actress, Morgan then welcomed fellow crimson-haired beauty Amy Adams, herself a nominee in one of the evening's premier categories.

Sporting a fourth nomination in seven years, she humbly admitted things are going well:

"It feels awesome. It's really great to be here. It really is," said the 38-year-old Italian born actress, who was nominated in the past for Best Actress in a Supporting Role as part of her work in both "Doubt" and "The Fighter."

Up for the same honor this year for "The Master," Adams revealed the others in her craft whom she admires:

"Meryl Streep, Sally Field, Susan Sarandon, just all these wonderful women who paved a wonderful path for us."

Watch the clips, and listen to the interviews with Chastain and Adams, then tune to CNN after the Academy Awards as Morgan hosts a live recap of the 85th edition of The Oscars®.

I can not believe that Argo won. It was a lie and the Americans should be ashamed of themselves or at least put a statement of the movie that is not fact. Terrible

I was hoping beyond hope that ZERO DARK.. would triumph over ARGO to win Best Picture and that Jessica Chastain wud win for her role as MAYA in nZERO DARK..., which I believe is a role to die for and shud be considered a landmark character on film, as should the film itself. The detailing in it, the single-minded dogged pursuit of OBL's whereabouts and the zeroing in on Abbotabad - out-stand-ing. Also loved the stonewalling Maya experieinced at Langley and her frustration as the days went by from the time Abottabad was established as THE hideout.

But, as is historically known, both Jen Lawrence and ARGO the film carried their individual momentums from earlier awards shows into Oscars nite. As an Asian, am immensely proud that Ang Lee took home Best Director for the awesome LIFE OF PI.

I liked ARGO as a film, based as it was on an audacious real life rescue. Alan Arkin and John Goodman were magnificent in it tho Ben Affleck underplayed his role to a fault. And I wud have preferred greater intensity in the film as the events unfolded.

The Oscars show itself ? Boring and disjointed. Seth Macfarlane was so bland he needn't have shown up at all. The tribute to movie musicals was no great shakes. And Paul Rudd, Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Stewart tanked as presenters.

It was in terribly bad taste and uncouth of you to ask a lady how much her dress cost. Unbelievable. Helen Hunt deserved better from you. Didn't your mother teach you better manners than that?

Is it possible to post the video of Mr. Morgan's interview with Mr. Tom Hooper on the red carpet from the 2013 Oscars soon? I'm tired of reading about Lawrence, Chastain, Lewis and all the other famous people. Mr. Hooper is an Oscar winner too and he deserves some recognition for Les Miserables – his fans are kindly requesting it. Thanks
