Clips From Last Night: More details and analysis on the Cannibal Cop trial; Sandy Hook emergency room doctor demos gun injuries

On Wednesday evening, "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomed attorneys Alan Dershowitz and Marcia Clark to the program to discuss new details revealed during the trial of New York City police officer, Gilberto Valle, who is accused of plotting to kidnap, kill and eat dozens of women, including his wife. The defense claims that Valle's graphic emails that described in gruesome detail his plans are only fantasies and that the emails were private conversations with co-fetishists.

"My prediction is the jury is going to convict him and it's going to be reversed on appeal," said Dershowitz. "It is not a crime to intend. It is not a crime to plan. It is only a crime to agree with another person. That's what he's charged with, conspiracy."

"The only two possible ways they could get him for anything relating to murder is conspiracy to murder or attempted murder."

Clark agreed with Dershowitz adding, "they need someone to agree with. If they have that person, he will go down for conspiracy."

"When you look at it from a legal principle, and purely that, you look and say, look, we don't have thought police, and you don't punish people for having bizarre thoughts and fetishes."

Dr. William Begg, a physician who was in the emergency room on the day of the Sandy Hook massacre also joined the program Wednesday evening and spoke about his testimony on Capitol Hill earlier in the day regarding gun injuries.

"I think many people don't really realize the difference between handgun injury and assault weapons injury," said Begg. "When somebody shoots a handgun, the bullet goes straight in along a path. Whereas when it's assault weapons injury the bullet explodes inside the person's body."

"People who have regular handgun injuries, many of them - most make it to the emergency room we have a chance. When people have assault weapons injuries most of them don't even make it to the emergency room because the injuries are so horrific."

Watch the clips, and listen to the interviews as Begg demonstrates the physical damage done by both a handgun and an assault weapon.

Mr Morgan...I own firearms for sporting purposes, and for personal defense. No AR 15s. I support background checks.
I feel great sorrow for innocent children, or adults who are murdered. But in reality it is a mental illness issue as much as a gun issue. I am an NRA member. As is obvious we live in a hostile world, I am capable of defending myself and family within that world, it doesn't seem prudent not to be. Bear in mind that the murder capital of this country is where our President calls home. What did he do about it when he lived there, and what is he doing about it now. Many good citizens support the NRA. To reach some sort of compromise re gun control, it requires LEADERSHIP from BOTH sides. It would also be very naive not to recognize that there are truly many unenforced laws in existence that pertain to misused firearms. You have a very strong pulpit. Please be confident enough to fully expose both positions on this very emotional issue. Lastly, the NRA has every right to sponsor a race or any legal event of their choosing, as does any other group in our country. It seems trivial to focus on race sponsorship when three are so many other important issues in this country. Thank you.

How about some video showing Lanza (or anyone else) actually entering Sandy Hook with an assualt weapon? Why does the Conneticut police insist on sealing all evidence with regard to this massacre? A .22 caliber pistol with hollow point will also fragment upon entry. That's the weapon T.J. Lane used in the Ohio School shooting. We hear almost nothing about that crime, because no assualt weapon was reportedly used.

The course of the Sandy Hook 'investigation' has unnecessarily given rise to crazy crackpot conspiracy theorists. Our government is choosing to let this happen. Obama supports the UN's universal disarmament pogram, written in the 1960's. Check that out.
