Snoop Lion on guns in America: "We are guilty as Americans of promoting the gun"

Tonight, the singer formerly known as Snoop Dogg sits down with Piers Morgan for an enlightening and informative interview on poverty, guns in America and his own fascinating transformation.

The artist, who now goes by Snoop Lion after spending some time in Jamaica, talks with the "Piers Morgan Tonight" host about his past ownership of guns and guns in America today.

"I went into a situation with the law where they came through my house and took all the guns out of my house and put my family through a whole lot of unnecessary abuse and whatnot," Snoop Lion says. "I just felt like I had got to the point in my career and my life where I didn't need guns in my life, because I didn't project that energy. I felt like I was positive and peaceful."

Snoop Lion's written a song called "No Guns Allowed" that will be released in April on his new album "Reincarnated." He talks about how he was inspired after the recent shootings:

"It affected me to where I wanted to say something and I wanted to make some music to try to help the next person who was thinking about loading a gun, going into a school and then shooting and maybe helping him put that gun down and think about what he was doing or what she was doing before they did that."

Tune in this evening at 9 as the "big cat" tells Morgan, "We are guilty as Americans of promoting the gun as one of the most highly touted things that you can have in your life, whether it's good or bad."

You know all the stars in that town of Hollyweed make Millions off of violent movies and songs and other people from the Silicon valley making the violent games it is hard to figure what adgenda California has they make money off of violence but support gun control. What needs control are the liberal wack jobs that make $$$$ for killing in a truefully unrealistic manner. Most of you should have served time in the Military to see how the weapons really work and how much of a tool or part of you it becomes expecially in a fire fight. 500 Gun violence are done with a legaly owned weapon the rest are illegal. Criminals do not follow the law so the only ones you hurt are like me follow the law.

I never feel sorry for any stars that fall from grace in fact I enjoy watching them rehab, steal, lie, and then fall off the face of the earth. because they should never have any influance on humans but unfortuantly they do they influance weak minded liberals who can not do so for themselves. So every day a star that burns out in Hollyweed is no big thing to me it just is another person who fell from grace like Jane the teacher, Bill the barber, andJoe the Plumber.

What stars should do is keep their personal thoughts and Ideas to themselves just like some other liberals. I choose to be independant and plan to stay that way. but we can't save everyone some people have to fall and get up on their own to learn to walk again. You can give a man a fish and he will eat for a day you teach the man to fish and he will eat for a life time.

Well Rob, I tend to agree with, er.. Snoop whatever on this subject, america leads the civilized world in gun violence by nearly ten thousand deaths a year when the next countries up are barley in the triple digits. You are also, statistically 47 times more likely to kill a friend or a family member with a legal firearm then an intruder.

There is nothing wrong with universal background checks which is what is being preposed, but i do find you need a profound lack of character to stir up fear and panic and distrust of the government of gun owners, and then take a fat check from Smith and Wesson because your "Buy your guns now before big brother gets em" Speeches are boosting sales. Cough... Cough... Wayne La' Pierre.

But, judging by the ehhemm... Liberal use of the term liberal, you exhibit, I assume you are content with being a complacent sheep.

I'd rather take advise from someone who has been there and done that than someone who thinks that just because it's a Right, then they should have a gun. To my knowlwdge, Snoop has every right to his opinion and to own a firearm. Apparently he chooses not to. It sounds to me like you're the one who we should be questioning. If the only people that can express their opinion are people who have never smoked or who have never been in trouble, that would eliminate alot of people whose opinion is generally respected.

While watching the Snoop lion interview Snoop stated " I could go get a gun right now." I did notice he did not say that he could go, and legally purchase a gun.The probelm is not guns being purchased legally it is the fact that there are fire guns (automatic and other) available on the streets of all major cities and most smaller ones.

Just as it is true that bullets have no names, guns know no states of legality. SO, it does NOT matter whether your gun is purchased legally or illegally, it's still a weapon that can take a life.

Snoop [animal] is looking for ways to rebrand himself and Piers is only happy to use Snoop Lion for his anti-gun agenda. Snoop Dog gets to the top of the gangsta world and realizes he can't go anywhere else so he turns on the gangstas that elevated him to heighten his own image. Snoop Dove is now in the running for the Nobel Peace prize. Meanwhile all Piers has to differentiate himself is the anti-gun agenda, half his views are from people watching to laugh at his comments. Win = Advertisers, win = Piers, lose = Youizzle and meizzle

Both Piers and Snoop are totally missing the point, guns for the vast majority aren't about committing a crime, they're about protecting oneself and family from those that commit the crimes and/or for sport. The same vast majority of firearms are never used in any type of crime, there are less than 500 crimes per year committed with legal firearms in this country. Those that need to be stopped won't be stopped with further gun laws; the laws are already in place they're just ignored, by CRIMINALS.

Right, we should all listen to Snoop on gun violence. If he really wanted to make a difference he should give all the money he made from his gangster rap to the victims of gun violence rather than preach his self enlightment of why guns cause violence. Snoop, why don't you take a look at your lyrics first before blaming guns.

Your only increasing gun ownership here in the US. Something you hate .........Your only helping people like me in showing that the left has no plan for crime control ect... well Obama has a plan ....drones LOL but thats a different story. Violent crime in the UK is 2066 k per 100k in the US 466 per 100k......facts are hard to beat. Also the US has a gang problem the UK does not imagine a gun free America where gangs rule. Like the mexican gang ms13 that never uses guns the use machetes and sharp metal poles to kill (there last school bus attack left 13 dead) thosands of the past few years with out firing a shot!

I hate going here. I really do. I hate taking the argument to the direction where someone is going to disregard it totally by saying, "THAT'S RACIST!" But, here we go anyway.

You are aware that the vast majority of firearm homicides are committed by young black or latino men against other young black or latino men, right? By a huge margin, somewhere around 70%? Generally with an illegal firearm? While engaging in criminal activity?

This is a cultural issue, and a huge one. And like him or not, Snoop became very, very wealthy encouraging this culture for 20-odd years; at points, he engaged in this culture, leading to the categorization of him as a felon which necessitated the legal removal of his legal firearms. He has even been found in possession of illegally obtained firearms. He's hardly the person to trust for an honest turnaround with no personal or social machinations.

Sorry, needed to get that out.

I kinda gotta admit Snoop should STFU. even when in my opinion what he said was true. he being a person who through
his music has been more of the problem, then solution with Gun violence. He said how people in films, ect may have had an influence on him, but what about the influence he may have had on young people who listen to his music?

He has made millions glamorising violence, abuse drugs and much more, and wouldn't be even sitting there if he didn't, so in my opinion he is the last who should open his mouth against Guns.

I do want to say however that I do think America has a serious problem with guns, but it may be too late to make much of a positive, logically and moral change.

Snoop does not represent or speak for the vast majority of gun owners. Blacks say whites cannot speak on black issues, because they are white. ok. Following the lefts rules, snoop (a black man and admitted criminal from the hood) cannot speak for the largely white, law abiding, legal, non drug using, non hood originating gun owners. This is a fact.

July 1993 – Snoop was stopped for a traffic violation and a firearm was found by police while conducting a search of his car. In February 1997 he plead guilty to one count of being an ex-felon in possession of a handgun and was ordered to record three public service announcements, pay a $1,000 fine, and serve three years probation. Snoop did not give up his guns, Snoop is not allowed to own guns.

    Hello Supporters!

I wanted to again thank everyone for all their continued support and praise. My record breaking ratings prove to all the Americans, who want to protect their personal freedoms, that they are fighting a losing battle. Many reports say my ratings are at an all-time low. Don’t be fooled by the facts they are using to back up their reports, they aren’t converting to metric.
I’m sorry I haven’t had time to respond sooner. While in CA I was busy visiting some of my favorite places, Santa Monica Pier, Balboa Pier, Harford Pier, Ventura Pier, Ocean Beach Pier, San Clemente Pier, Belmont Pier, Balboa Pier & of course, Pier 39.
I wanted to let you all know that I am still working hard every day to get rid of America’s ridiculous Const¡tution and outdated Bill of Rights.
If you are wondering what you can do to help me -fight- to take away every American’s –right- to party, it’s critical that you get everyone you know to stop researching facts. Make sure they know facts aren’t important, or you can trick them into believing the things you make up are actual facts.
One thing I have found that I’ve always benefitted from is the victims of tragedies. You can do this by explaining horrific gruesome details of a tragedy, like the terrible ways the victims suffered & died. You might be surprised how many peoples good judgment gets clouded by fear. It’s also helpful to interrupt them when they start backing up their argument with facts, & then change the subject.

Well I’m off to Pier 1 Imports to get some shopping done, cheerio!

Take away his guns? How would his criminal record allow him to legally have a firearm in the first place?

I love snoop dog as an artist, and his eccentricities, BUT....
A discussion with Snoop Dog on Gun Control?? Why? Because he was previously involved in Gun Violence? This simple and blatant politically biased click bait, not a serious exploration of the discussion of gun control, CNN should be ashamed.

We need to teach new generation not to be afraid of guns and talk about them openly. We need to change the psycho of the general grey public towards guns and change the school system, too where they expel and suspend students based on gun gestures even!!!

    Follow my lead!

Piers Morgan the biggest sell out on TV. He is ready for anyone to appear on his show no matter how full of BS they are because it helps move his agenda to outlaw guns. Go back to the UK please, please, please.

An uneducated, convicted felon pandering to a bombastic, ratings hungry limey...now that's journalism. Edward R. Murrow is spinning in his grave.

I'm more concerned by the large mounds of dirt forming on the graves of Samuel Colt, John Moses Browning, and the entirety of our founding fathers due to the rapid tumbling of their angry corpses.

the Southern Poverty law Center sent a letter to the DOJ , go read it . Now anyone who stands up and takes notice is a terrorist. This group the SPLC should have no place in American politics or goverment. They are a subversive element for a foreign goverment.

I’m all for gun control but I love my guns. There should be curtian restrictions on who can own a gun like if you murdered someone you shouldn’t have a gun. Also if you have comitted multiple crimes you shouldn’t be able to own guns. There should be background checks for everyone but only for their first fun they buy. Then they shouldn’t have to get another one till ten years later. I also beleave that you should have to take a class on gun saftey. To learn the ways to handle a gun safely even if you know how you should have to take the class before you get a gun. I think this would help America out just a little for gun control.
I belieave that the government should not take away our guns. It’s not our fault people are crazy. I belieave in the old saying “Guns Don’t Kill People. People Kill People”. It is the truth though when you really sit there and think about. Just think where would America be with out guns…. It would be a lot more difficult for people to make it. People hunt like me to support their family. It saves me at least $400 dollars in a year. Every little helps in this economey. That is why I think we should keep our guns yet have some gun control saftey.
