Tonight: Franklin Graham, Dana Loesch, and Grover Norquist

As much of the world's Christian community looks forward to one of the year's most-religious weekends, and with a brand new pope having recently been elected, this evening Piers Morgan welcomes Franklin Graham for a live, face to face interview.

One of the nation's foremost Evangelical Christians, having preached to more than three million people at more than 125 events, Graham is the son of legendary minister Billy Graham, and the president and CEO of multiple religious organizations.

A staunch opponent of same-sex marriage and domestic unions, this evening's appearance by Graham comes on the backdrop of ongoing Supreme Court arguments relating to Proposition 8 and DOMA.

A returning guest, in the past the 60-year-old missionary has used the platform to explain his personal position on the matter, saying in part "I cannot accept gay marriage. I'm not homophobic. I'm not against gay or lesbian people. They are free to live however they want to live. But I believe God makes it very clear that marriage is between a man and a woman."

In addition to a primetime conversation with Graham, tonight's program will also feature a new debate on gun legislation, with visits from a pair of Connecticut police chiefs, as well as Dana Loesch and Grover Norquist.

Tune in this evening at 9 for a live edition of the primetime show regularly regarded as leading the national conversation on firearm law.

    Piers,

You win the ignorance award. I used to like you. Then I realized that you are a buffoon. Imagine that.

    1. Learn how to pronounce Aspergers. Isn't there some basic requirement for "journalists," like know your subject?

    2. What does that word you can't pronounce have to do with the Sandy Hook shootings? Your asinine attempt to correlate autism to murder is shameful.

    3. Children with Aspergers have enough to deal with without morons like yourself making them out to be murderers waiting to happen.

Why don't you do some research like a good journalist would? CNN lost this viewer due to your utter ignorance.

Anyone so incapable of compromise or the ability to discuss a problem without listening to both sides while yelling to overpower their opponents is not someone I want carrying a gun. Shame on her and the rest for ignoring what 90% of Americans want. The death of those poor babies are on their hands.

I'm close to turning off any program she is on and I hate that because I enjoy Piers and Anderson. I'll give them up if that rude ass is on another episode. She is NOT WORTH IT!

Anytime that I see Dana Loesch on CNN, I will turn the channel. She is rude and her arguments are lame and often ridiculous. Worst of all, her participation precludes the viewer from hearing anybody speak. She constantly interrupts, shouts down and mocks everybody who disagrees with her. It's impossible to actually hear the discussion/debate. PIerce has no control of the show when she's on... it's too frustrating to watch. So I don't.

Is there some way to ask Dana Loesch to stop smiling and laughing during what is supposed to be a discussion about gun control, specifically in relation to Sandy Hook? I know it may seem funny to people like her, but twenty murdered kids is not a laughing or smiling matter. Secondly, I don't know what her background is, but I seriously doubt she has ever served in the military, so stop lecturing people about whether an AR-15 is a military style assault weapon. I served for six years and carried two different versions of an M-16, and AR-15 is exactly the same weapon except that is limited to semi auto. Even with that difference, its a weapon designed for the battlefield and has no place in the hands of civilians.

The more I watch Piers Morgan the more my opinion changes. He alone has done more for the gun advocates than anyone else in the news media. He continually shouts down anyone who has a valid argument. I would have been in favour of more gun control at one time but now am definitely going over to the pro gun side.

Piers does get animated sometimes almost to the point of obnoxious. His rants, however are not the issue. He sounds almost as bad as Dana did but more passionate. Dana was just following her right wing agenda to keep her audience. Until I hear a legitimate argument against banning guns that can fire so many rounds in such a short period of time (like the AR-15), I think they should have the same status as the Thompson sub machine gun.

    Unfortunately, Dana Loesch is clueless.

Let's follow her thinking: all semi-automatic weapons are functionally equivalent. Further, the whole gun control debate is pointless based on semantics and confusion over gun engineering.

If all semi-automatic weapons are functionally equivalent, why is it a problem to get the weapon of choice for mass murderers off the streets?

Why do we need to outfit our police forces with semi-automatic and automatic weapons? A 9MM handgun should suffice by Dana's definition of weapons. What is she even arguing about? Take the gun grammar to the shooting range.

There is a BIG difference between a six shooter, a 9MM sidearm, a shotgun, and a .223 Bushmaster. Lanza killed 26 in 5 minutes. Try that with a smaller gun with smaller magazines.

There's a reason our soldiers carry M-16s into battle: it's because if they went in with revolvers, they'd be outgunned. Ergo, some guns are more efficient at killing than others.

This simple though is lost on Dana and the NRA.

Every time I hear Dana Loesch on the show I turn the channel. It really doesn't matter what she is saying. I guess CNN has such a large market share they can absorb the fact that a lot of viewers prefer a more intellectual experience with regards to news broadcasts. As a matter of fact, the only contributors I even listen to anymore are Sanjay Gupta, David Gergen, Jeff Toobin, and John King. At least there is some depth to them. Well, time to see whats on my local news as I know in Boise they are polite and don't yell at each other and act like idiots.

I have been a sportsman for many years, I will never forget the day I walked into my local sporting goods store and saw what appeared to be a military style weapon next to the traditional hunting guns, I walked out of the store and never returned. I remember the discussion years ago when they were trying to get those weapons off the street and law enforcement supported the ban and I remember the NRA opposing the ban. I remember it well because that was the day I dropped my membership in the NRA. I have to put a wooden plug in the magazine of my shotgun because according to state law I cant have more then three rounds in the magazine while hunting ducks. Now its legal to have 30 or more rounds in the magazine to hunt humans. What in Gods name is wrong with us, will all of the sane people stand up and take our country back this is nuts.

Franklin Graham would do well to channel his own personal life Epiphany within himself – and remember America is about separation of church and state and remember...remember...that this is America and no thoughts as regards gay and lesbian marriage are more American and true than those below.

I remember the words of John Kennedy when his presidential candidacy was challenged because of his faith: "I believe in an America that is officially neither Catholic, Protestant, nor Jewish - where no public official either requests or accepts instructions on public policy from the pope, the National Council of Churches, or any other ecclesiastical source - where no religious body seeks to impose its will directly or indirectly upon the general populace or the public acts of its officials - and where religious liberty is so indivisible that an act against one church is treated as an act against all."

Regarding Graham's comment that God created marriage – God may have created marriage for those who believe in him, but what about those who don't. And there are more who don't than do. What about atheists? What about millions of Indian Hindus? What about millions of Chinese, Russian, and other communists who don't practice religion? And those who don't believe in God, still get married! Why do these God believers think they are right.

Semi automatic is the only mode soldiers use in most professional armies. So you may have an M16 automatic, but you are using it as an AR15 and wish you had AR15. The argument that AR15 is not a military grade weapon is ridiculous or very dishonest. We need to force gun owners to buy insurance for their guns so they can pay for the damage that they may cause. We can trust the money to fix the recklessness around gun ownership.

I didn't see the show tonight. I don't watch CNN. You people shouldn't either. The way to deal with Piers is to leave his ratings in the dust. Democrats in this day and age are not the normal thing they used to be in decades past. There is something evil brewing in our country. CNN is a medium that they use to put out their propaganda (to dupe easily fooled people). DON'T WATCH IT ! The Judeo Christian point of view is represented on Fox News. Athiests will find it very interesting and could learn some things on occasion. You may have been taught to stay away from Fox by CNN, but you've only been listening to one warped and demented point of view (no wonder you're an atheist ! Listening to the wrong people). And I don't understand why those who are Islamic would want to hang out people of perverse lifestyles? Liberals often total dirtbags if you really listen to what they want our world to be. You shouldn't have yourself in the daily environment of CNN. When it first began everyone watched it, but then at some point it became corrupted. Every once in a blue moon I stop by and usually can't stand to be there more than 5 minutes. Come away from those people. Don't even waste your time debating them. Just leave them to talk to themselves.

You, Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein, and every other pundit and/or Liberal trying to take legal weapons out of the hands of law-abiding citizens are THE REASON for the increased gun sales. I don’t own an AR-15, but if someone wants to protect himself against gang bangers that may outgun him, it’s not my place to say that he can’t have it, just because I myself don’t need it. And I think there’s a good possibility the sight of those big guns can intimidate even armed criminals causing them to flee (you may not have to even fire a shot). That is a life saved! Wouldn’t it be a great defense mechanism for anyone, especially if you are a small-built woman or a senior person or physically disabled?

Don’t you think banning so-called assault rifles would only make the attackers choose different methods to carry out the atrocities? so how many do you really think we can save by banning them? And don’t you think the ban will create a thriving Black Market? so now, only criminals will have them?

That Dana woman keeps talking and interrupting people when they're in the middle of their sentences, but then she turns around and demands that she be allowed to finish what she's saying. I can't stand listening to her. Mr. Morgan, don't let her back on your show... she's annoying! Get a different woman who is a little less of a hypocritical jerk! I want to listen to DISCUSSION, not that woman yelling at everyone and talking over your other guests!

Hey Dana Loesch it must be hard to live a life so afraid. You really have bought into the fear haven't you? You're being played like a fool. The NRA and the likes, have scared you. Once they scare you, they can control you. Once they control you they can make a profit off of you, what a sad little tool.

You know what? People are doing exactly that. Guns and bullets are flying off the shelves, ALL THANKS TO Piers Morgan. He is the gun promoter of the year!! The NRA and gun manufacturers can’t thank him enough!!!!

It will be short lived. The market is saturated and people don't have an infinite supply of money. On so many levels, time is on the side of gun control. It's no longer a matter of IF, just a matter of when. So enjoy the "15 minutes" of insanity because it's eroding away.🙂

It’s the support for the new gun laws that’s eroding away. Haven’t you seen the recent polls? This is not a 15-min. thing. I’m thinking this gun-control debate will even have an impact on 2014 election. If Democrats are not so scared, why did Harry Reid take off the ban from the bill? We’ll see what happens next year. You guys managed to galvanize many people who are concerned for our fundamental rights. Some gun-rights supporters are not even gun owners themselves. Keep up the good work. :):):)

Just when I was about to believe that someone had slipped something into the drinking water of all Americans that somehow has killed off any form of normal thinking, it has gladdened my heart to read here that sense IS ALIVE and well and even though our politicians have let us down. Tex for one especially, who IS a gun owner but realizes that no one is trying to DISARM anyone, but to restrict the sale of certain weapons, that belong in the hands of Law Enforcement Officers, and the Military, not citizens, OR why have the other two organizations in the first place, or, do they actually advocate returning to the good old West where we all carry weapons and we have Vigilanty's instead? It is also NOT President OBAMA that wishes to BAN the ownership of these weapons, but the majority of population of American Citizens.

According to a USA Today/Gallup poll, a slight majority of Americans do not want assault weapons banned in the aftermath of the Newtown, Conn., elementary school shooting.

Such a worthless debate. Piers just will never have the ability to understand any kind of rational thought. He is so blinded by his agenda that he doesn't listen. Dana made a ridiculous amount of great points, along with the gun owners of america earlier. Piers will never get it. Our guns aren't going anyway because the majority does. Why waste anymore breath on him or anyone else that doesn't have the brain power to understand such simple statements.

The reason people are fighting is because the Liberals are making an appearance to fix a problem by a feel good solution when Conservatives actually want to fix the root of the problem so we can actually make a difference in minimizing this kind of thing happening again. The fact that liberals can't see beyond their emotion and obviously lack any kind of common sense is why this issue will continue as it is. It's sad actually.

Guns are a part of the problem, more specifically the sale of guns and the profits of those sales. So by banning assault weapons you reduce sales/profit and the monster is weakened.

So all of you who forfeit your hard earned money to support an industry of death and destruction I hope your fear is lessened (although I don't think the NRA will let it be).

They will continue the subtle campaign of fear, to gain control so they can manipulate your thoughts and behavior so you will buy more of their junk (which btw kills others).

      Sleep well.

I sleep wonderfully. Your liberal hypocracies have only woken up the majority. I would say like to say thank you. I'm sure the gun companies thank you as well for helping them sell out.

I don't think the NRA has anything to do with the historic high levels of gun sales we are seeing. I think the gun companies might be thanking the current administration though. Most companies in business have to spend large sums in advertising to achieve high levels of sales. Every time the administration makes a gun control announcement it's free advertising on primetime.

This "show" was a debacle with Morgan and Loesch ranting at each other at the same time and overriding Van Jones to make it a three-way babel. What a piece of ill-mannered and ill-managed crap. I commend Morgan for maintaining the debate on guns in America, but the way he moderates it has turned this part of the debate into an absurdity.

    1. 75% of the world's weapons export is done by the U.S. Government.
    2. Gun confiscation and control laws has led to the deaths of a quarter of a billion people the last 100 years.
    3. Department of Homeland security purchased 2 billion rounds of ammunition.
    4. Cameras are being installed for every street light, microphones are being tested on some.
    5. Drones can now fly in U.S. Airspace.
    6. U.S. government would rather give amnesty to illegal immigrants
    7. Live outside the U.S. you'll realize what it's like without having the rights you have now.

With the U.S. Government's track record.....you really want them to regulate your weapons?

Only a F00L would allow that....

      Most of that is true.

Given all that government firepower, you're equally foolish to think even 5 .223s, a Desert Eagle, or Magnum would hold off the government.

I agree the nation is facing serious civil liberties questions at this time. That said, use your vote, not your gun.

      Clarification:

Gun Industry Greed → Their need to gain control → So they can manipulate peoples behavior → to buy more guns → So they can make more $$$ → then they repeat.

The NRA is selling the lies for the industry, their motive is greed.

The government is trying to protect us by regulating the insatiable desires of those who can't seem to help themselves.

Exactly, Private gun sales with No manditory registery means 100% access of guns to criminals. This means All gun dealers can put a stand on a street corner or a gun show and sell " buy 10 guns get 1 free deal" . Liscenced permission for so-called gun dealers to sell to parolies coming out of jail or prison. The :GOP", the "NRA" and Hannity and Palin are down with that, Oh yeah Hey Dana Loesch " morales witch" ( my opinion"

The motive of gun control is to save lives, there is no profit to be made.

The motive of the NRA and the gun industry is to take your money.

Again it seems like there's a large contingent of Canadians posting on this blog. With Piers declining viewer numbers its funny to think that he has spent the last few months trying to convince Canadians about a gun ban in the US. It's becoming increasingly obvious that the last bastion of his viewers are watching from north of the 49th.
