David Mattingly on the Ga. hostage situation: "They showed up at this address...they realized there was something very wrong"

In the aftermath of a dangerous incident in Georgia which left an armed gunman dead, and four Gwinnett County firefighters with minor injuries, on Wednesday evening "Piers Morgan Live" invited CNN's David Mattingly to share specific details in a live report.

Stationed in Suwanee, Ga., Mattingly revealed insight into an event that began as a fairly routine distress call:

"They showed up at this address, they came out with their equipment, they had a gurney, they went inside the house. And at that point they realized there was something very wrong here," explained Mattingly. "Just a couple of hours later, the S.W.A.T. team was making their move, using concussion grenades, tear gas and then going and exchanging gunfire with this man. The man was shot and killed. We don't know if it was actually from one of the officers, or if he took his own life."

Watch the clip, and listen further, as Mattingly shared additional detail from the suburban Atlanta hostage situation.

The "NRA" are so scared and desperate that they tried to send the big President of the immorale club to the Anderson Cooper show tonight and , and as usual he embarrassed himself . Anderson Cooper took the gloves off tonight and set the record straight! He leveled the NRA Pres with pure common sense, and sensibility. What an uppercut to the chin of the dying NRA. The are freaking out with the new gun Legislation on the floor of the House and Senate! Their Doomed either way, its a trick question! act sensibly now, or your doomed in 2014 an 2016..... No way out! Were Taking our dignity back from Morons!

I keep hoping for that every single day and have been asking CNN to do that since day one, but seems they're only interested in patterning themselves more and more to be just like MSNBC.

Here's yet another example for the thick and stupid NRA supporters to process: a man calls firefighters to the rescue and then opens fire.

Just yesterday he was law abiding, happily exercising his right to bear arms. This is the second time in 6 months someone has shot and wounded firefighters. This time they all survived, but the others weren't so lucky.

Had this man been unarmed, he would have been met with a social worker and temporary psychiatric commitment.

Now that town's taxpayers pay to cleanup his body, pay for the wounded firefighters, pay the SWAT team, pay emergency response services, etc. just because we value gun ownership over helping those with mental health problems.

Please...fine, ban all guns as you'd like in your either misguided or uneducated motives, and the criminal will just find another way. What we need is restore civility, love, respect, and a decent unperverted moral center, to society. All else falls in place when the person's heart is right.

Well this comment actually makes sense, unless you're being sarcastic.

Preventative ant-crime measures work. We need to ask ourselves why people commit crime in the first place, and then implement programs and measures to stop this from occurring. Then guns would become much less important, and humanity would evolve.

Actually Peebles, I'm not being sarcastic. When we raise our kids right, teach them decency, civility, love, etc, they share that with others. And they won't be so desensitized to violence and gore thanks to the media given freely to them day in and day out – now it's to the point young people are beginning to actually act out what they witness in their role-playing video games just to "feel" it. I think that's the big part of what needs to be addressed.

When I grew up, we never locked our guns, or ammo, or knives. We were taught right and just knew better. We knew not to play with them because we were taught (by parents who took their time for us) that they are dangerous and need to be handled with respect. Parents aren't taking that time with their kids now, rather preferring to turn them over to the state and whatever questionable teachings they have.

Long winded, but essentially, it starts in the home. It starts in the Church, and in the local community. The solution doesn't belong with the state or Congress. That's why I argue so hard against the "gun control" and other reactionary solutions.

Why didn't they just turn the utilities back on and arrest him after he let the hostages go?
It would have cost far less, no swat bombs or gas would have been needed. No houses would have been damaged, he could have spent some time in jail and gotten the help he needed.
Ohh yeah, this is the "modern" US, killing is the only option. I bet if he only asked for a bag of Cheetos they still would have killed him just for fun.
like all those people they do house raids on for fun, when all they had to do was wait for them to get in their car to go to the store and point 20 guns at them. But running into a house with gear on, shooting everything is so much more fun and much more likely to get an officer killed or wounded.
It sickens me that some police are so kill happy. More thinking and less working can get the job done right.
