Tonight: Boston Marathon Bombings, the Aftermath

As Massachusetts, much of the nation, and the world as a whole continues to mourn Monday's tragic bombings in Boston, this evening "Piers Morgan Live" will air a pair of special broadcasts – at 9 p.m. and 12 a.m. – dedicated to gaining a better understanding of the latest terror attack.

Beginning in primetime, Piers Morgan will be joined live by CNN's Chris Cuomo, who's been on the ground in Boston since Monday, in the process sharing this sentiment via Twitter:

Dr. Sanjay Gupta is also scheduled to speak live with Morgan, as the multiple Emmy-award winning chief medical correspondent reports live from famed Massachusetts General Hospital.

Meanwhile, Mark Potok will join the program from Alabama, as the Southern Poverty Law Center Senior Fellow will offer his perspective on Monday's explosions, in particular offering context to the date on which they occurred. In an eerie connection, this week also marks the anniversary of four deadly American incidents:

> The end of the Waco Siege (April 19, 1993)
> The Oklahaom City bombing (April 19, 1995)
> The Columbine High School massacre (April 20, 1999)
> The Virginia Tech masscare (April 16, 2007)

Also, Tuesday's program will see the host interview Kelli Johnston and Robert Watling, avid runners and newlyweds who finished yesterday's race, and then proceeded to go ahead with their plan to tie the knot in the Boston Common, as armed members of law enforcement assembled nearby.

Tune in this evening at 9 as "Piers Morgan Live" continues coverage of the deadliest domestic terror incident since September 11, 2001.

The point of the comment? If this was done with a semi-automatic gun, people would be screaming for more gun control and background checks. These kinds of atrocities show that people generally aren't safe anywhere when a determined terrorist (or groups) are amongst us. More to the point is what kind of security wasn't in place. In San Francisco (for example) there is zero tolerance for UNATTENDED "bags, backpacks, packages, unattended parcels" left in public places, such as the transit system. Also trash cans, recepticles, etc. are removed along race path. Generally events occur on a Sunday when office buildings downtown are mostly closed. Start lines, finish lines are closely guarded and restrict access. Everything about this Boston setup screamed "access and vulernability". Yes, it's a public celebration, party and brings in a huge amount of business and all of that. But safety needs to become the paramount concern when masses of people are involved. I do think Boston was feeling complacent, such as this type of thing happening in NY or LA or Chicago, but not in their city of goodwill. I think much more should be discussed about the responsibility for prevention and security. Perhaps even restricting the attendance of youngsters or unaccompanied minors. All kinds of things need to be discussed. There is never one, simple answer to anything (whether it's about gun control or background checks ... just as part of the example).

As I have said more than once here, if someone wants to kill lots of people they will find a way to do it! Piers just gives them airtime and glory so they can see if can beat the record! I wonder how he is going to blame guns or the Republicans this time? Or the Nra!

Piers, Here is one for you...Why do we not have digital pic's of everyone that pays at a cash register? Digital could be inexpensive to install....we all have digital pics on our cell phones, so why not at cash registers !!! This would greatly help in finding Who, When, Where, when needed. Yes there is disguises, and friends that could purchase stuff for someone, but would they if they knew their butt is on the line...It really is just a thought. Is it do-able???

April 15, 2013 was the birthday of North Korean president, proaganda video on Arpil 12,2013 showed that North Korean is targeting the United States with missles in four locations. This bombing in Boston could be tied to North Korea.

I doubt North Korea is planting bombs in trashcans, but they need to shut up already 'cos we've enough fish to fry without
      their empty threats.

They are looking in the wrong direction. They need to look for someone who was recently fired and maybe because of it they may have lost their family or health. They live in the Boston area.

Just another of the many possibilities that can't be ruled out yet. Too early to speculate and does none of us, the victims and their families, and the investigators and intelligence community, any good.

    Piers,

it is obvious that the American people can't be trusted with nails and BB's or pressure cookers. I am sure you will reveal this on your next show just as you have about guns.

Will you also talk about the higher crime rate in the UK? You know where violent crime is higher because people don't have weapons?

    I didn't think so !!!!!!!!

The hero you interviewed, Tyler Dodd, has been in the media as a "Good Samaritan" in the past, plus MULTIPLE mug shots. Does that seem odd? See these links on him:

I think it's odd that anyone would have enough extra time on their hands to cross reference a Good Samaritan with an online insta-records resource. And THEN post the result on a Piers Morgan forum. The question is, with so much extra time on hand, did you also give blood at your local Blood Bank?
