On the heels of their iconic collaboration on the brand new album "Authentic," this evening at 9 "Piers Morgan Live" invites music legends LL Cool J and Eddie Van Halen to join him for a face to face, world exclusive interview.
For the 45-year-old hip-hop star, "Authentic" represents a 13th studio album. However, with the songs “We’re the Greatest” and “Not Leaving You Tonight,” the record also represented an opportunity to combine forces with one of the world's greatest guitarists:
"I reached out to Eddie," says LL Cool J. "I had an idea about doing a song that has some rock guitar on it and I feel like Eddie's the best in the world."
As for the artist who helped popularize such epic hits as "Jump," "Hot for Teacher," and "Right Now," Van Halen says the idea of working with LL Cool J was "a left of center thing" that hooked him in once he got a feel for the project:
"He [LL Cool J] played me all this diverse stuff and I'm going, 'I'd really like to be a part of this,'" says Van Halen.
"I gotta give him [LL Cool J] a lot of credit," he continues. "For being open to pushing the envelope and experimenting and not being afraid to do things that haven't been done."
Watch the clip and listen to the interview, then tune in at 9 for the complete interview with two of musics ultimate professionals, each an expert on his particular craft and genre.
