I think it;s time to invest in mandatory Tornado/Storm/Gun Threat Shelters for all Schools, the old gathering in the hallway and tucking your head between the legs is way overated and out of date, GOD BLESS ALL INVOLVED IN THESE EPIC STORMS.....

After Sunday's tornado, which was a mile wide and tore up a town,...And the weather man said on Sunday that there would be more on Monday...Why would they not close schools today? There has to be a better plan for these cities in the tornado alley.

I am absolutely disgusted by the detail that Scott Hines was allowed to display in his eyewitness new report. Report yes.. but do it with dignity... Describing children laying dead in standing water and explaining that they drowned..... is just..... tasteless...classless......We don't need a full description to adequately understand a dead child.. I am disgusted and at this point, I will not be watching any more CNN... Where the hell is the line drawn?????

I'm still looking for that line too,Aimee.and would 'appear' to be
as nebulous as the Bermuda Triangle.

      Too much information,fine tooth comb,way too much,always...

Just an FYI....there are no basements in Oklahoma because of the red clay...not rocks or bedrock. You can dig hundreds of feet before you hit bedrock.

    Sincerly, an okie

There are Doam Homes that can be built that have proven to withstand 300 mph winds. Why aren't any of the news people talking about them ??

Oh Mr. Morgan – get off your "high horse"! What's your carbon footprint? How many gas guzzling polluting vehicles do you drive? How many gas guzzling polluting airplanes do you fly on? I am so sick of the human species thinking we are so powerful and that we can continue to abuse and disrespect this planet and somehow not being held accountable. Our soil is polluted, the oceans are polluted, the AIR is polluted. Carbon dioxide levels have reach an all time high not seen in millions of years.........so stand up and be counted like the rest of us Mr. Morgan – what are you going to do about simplifying your lifestyle??? Climate change is here and this is just a taste of things to come... I look at it as Nature retaliating... it's just too bad that innocent children and other species have to suffer the consequences of our greed and selfishness...

    Q. Is there nothing to stop or weaken a tornado before it turns into a maximum storm ?

Would the idea of having for an example a very powerful jet engine(s) i.e the ones on A380 Boeing or larger scale models blowing the opposite direction of the tornado forcing the air to reverse circulate or weakening the build up of a tornado from strengthening its maximum force.
This could minimise the damages and could save life's if some kind of an invention from scientist can come up with.
E.G imagine on a smaller scale spinning a coin and then using a hair dryer blowing opposite direction the result would weaken the spinning of the coin. Now, on a larger scale using powerful jet engines alike reverse blowing against a tornado building up stage this may distract it from building up into a deadly monster and minimise damages and may save more life's. What does exactly the tornado spotters do ? Spot tornados correct !

Trouble is,Steve, they generate most their strength over the Atlantic,
and once here constantly change direction;seems the best thing we
      have–which clearly ain't enough–is the stormchasers plotting
co-ordinates,and relaying them to the weather stations, giving people
a viable chance to get away, but viable AT BEST as they can twist
      and turn on a sixpence.

And HOW MANY is Okey gonna get?Alabama 240+ in 2011... tick-tock...

Many Thanks for your comment Gregory, but I really think something can be done or improved to minimise what happened in Oklahoma... I m going to work on an experiment on this...
