Harry Connick Jr. on writing 'Love Wins' for a Newtown victim: "No matter the tragedy, love is going to conquer"

As Friday represents the precise six month mark since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, this evening Piers Morgan welcomes Harry Connick Jr., a man with a deeply personal connection to the tragedy.

A three-time Grammy Award winner, Connick Jr. lives in Connecticut, and tonight he reveals how he learned about the events in Newtown, and how they touched him directly:

"I was actually watching CNN when it was going down. And I was watching the journalists in front of the school and I saw a familiar face walk behind her. And I told my wife, I paused it. I said 'That's Jimmy.' And she came in and we were both horrified - came to find out that he had lost his little girl," shares the father of three. "Some time passed. I had been in communication with Jimmy and was profoundly saddened myself by it and wrote a song ['Love Wins'], basically honoring Ana Grace [Marquez-Greene], but, also the idea of ultimately no matter the tragedy, love is going to conquer."

Joining "Piers Morgan Live" for a primetime exclusive, the 45-year-old singer and actor opens up about the conversations he's shared with his grieving bandmate:

"I've spoken to him a lot about it. And I said that he has inspired me to rekindle the notion that I'm going to be with my mom again. I really believe that I'm going to be with my mom if I do things right on Earth, you know, I'll be with her in heaven," he says, referencing his late mother who passed away when he was a teenager. "And Ana is up there right now. And we just need to hold on very tightly to one another and get through this life as best as we can."

Tune in this evening at 9 for the full interview with Harry Connick Jr., as the men discuss the guest's newest album, about which the host admits he's looking forward to listening to while lounging around the pool in Los Angeles.

    There is a lot of hype when it comes to people being citizens of the US. Some of us have been wondering if Justin Bieber applied for citizenship. With him getting into the news lately with his idiocy. He should be deported back to Canada, before he has the chance to cause more trouble, or does (more) damage, be it to himself, others, or this country. The US doesn't need any more bad rap. J.G.

    Bald Eagle Turning Into Firebird

    I see a bird rising,

    firebird,glowing above the embers,

    burnished,rising,spreading,

    the NRA,Congress,preponderance of guns

    falling away like ninepins into scuffed cinders;

    she is shedding:fledged–ready to fly!

    She may fly and burn the Harpies

    (who may come to her),a phoenix

    above the ashes of the old;

    she is glowing and young

    as if lit by a taper

    on twenty candles.

    For New England.

    Hello,everyone.

    I haven't forgotten you.

    Never.

    Hi, Neat post. There is an issue with your site in internet explorer, may test this… IE still is the market chief and a huge part of other folks will omit your great writing due to this problem. Jason Whobrey http://www.longislandguide.com/blogs/1374/214/vigrx-plus-for-men-virility-heal
