Chris Kreis on riding a shark: "It's always been one of my lifelong dreams"

Roughly 24 hours taking the proverbial "ride of his life," on Monday evening Chris Kreis agreed to another exciting journey, that as a guest of "Piers Morgan Live."

On Sunday, the 19-year-old Floridian sprang from his parents' boat, and hitched himself a 20 second voyage on the back of a 30-foot whale shark. On Monday, he faced off with an equally intimidating creature:

"What the hell were you thinking?" asked Piers Morgan, as Kreis joined the program live from Fort Myers, Fla.

"It's always been one of my lifelong dreams to actually be in the water with one of them," said Kreis of the great 50,000 pound beast. "I took it, I jumped in, and I grabbed on to its fin and it took me for a little short ride which was an experience of a lifetime."

Captured on video, the teens stunt is not illegal, but it is controversial, as human contact can be harmful to the whale shark. Nonetheless, Sunday's Gulf of Mexico joyride left the guest with an experience he'll likely treasure:

"When I watch the video, it's almost a surreal moment. Because at the moment when I did it, so many things are going through your head, you don't even realize you're actually holding on to a 30-foot whale shark that weighs approximately 50,000 pounds," the teen told the host. "You only realize it when you look back at the video and watch what you actually did."

Whale sharks are enormous and beautiful creatures and should be observed in their natural state and not mounted like a horse. Shame on you Piers and CNN for applauding the harassment of nature.

Wow so it's ok to swim with the dolphins and have them push fat ass tourists with their noes but when this kid rides a whale for 5 seconds its a harm to the whale. –

This really stupid guys tries to ride a Whale Shark and this proves without a doubt that Pierce Morgan is a clueless MORON! Shame on CNN for reporting this crap so some other idiot will try it. Touching it can take the slime off the shark's body, and that could harm its health. Report that Pierce Morgan, you clueless MORON!

Riding one of the friendliest and most peaceful creatures of the world really shows balls, kiddo. Doing this by willingly risking to harm or hurt the animal, is the most stupid thing ever heard of.

I am extremely disappointed that CNN and Pierce Morgan promote this behaviour of being completely disrespectful towards nature, as if we wouldn´t have problems enough with all the poor captive cetaceans in the dolphinariums, we now start bugging them in their home also for fun. This is disgusting.

And where is the risk with an animal that is know for being peaceful? Just because he has "shark" in his name, he is no danger and definitely not a matter of willpower to be tested. You should get yourself acquainted with those bid bad sharks, before you start to admire for nothing.

Too bad it wasn't a Great White. That guy deserves to be eaten for sure. What an idiot! I sure hope there is something that the authorities can do in this case.
