A trio of legal minds evaluate Rachel Jeantel's second day of testimony in the George Zimmerman trial

Thursday marked the fourth day in the George Zimmerman trial, and in the eyes of many, star witness Rachel Jeantel stepped off the stand having garnered the spotlight for the second straight day. But after six hours of questioning, her testimony left plenty of room for interpretation.

Joining Piers Morgan for a live, primetime interview Jayne Weintraub, Vinnie Politan, and Gloria Allred each offered their analysis and reaction following a fascinating day in court.

"It's a very difficult road to go down, but as a defense lawyer on cross-examination, it's not his job to be nice," said Weintraub, herself a criminal defense attorney, when referring to the aggressive interrogation style of Don West. "She was an absolute gift to the defense."

Referring to Jeantel's specific testimony, which dealt with the actual altercation between Zimmerman and the late Trayvon Martin, Politan poked a few holes into Weintraub's analysis:

"She also described how Trayvon was saying he was behind him. He was following him. Why is George Zimmerman still pursuing him?" wondered the attorney and television personality. "His [Zimmerman] direct quote to investigators the next day at the scene is that 'I walked straight back to my car.' Well, this confrontation was this way [uses hands to gesture in another direction,] so he didn't go straight back to his car."

Allred meanwhile, was left with concern regarding Jeantel's credibility:

"I think that there are people who are going to believe her. There are people that are going to disbelieve her," noted the famed civil right attorney. "The problem is she is a prosecution witness, and she really needed to bring it home, and I'm not sure that she did bring it home to every member of the jury."

It's obvious that people want the outcome to turn out a certain way. They are so predisposed, including Piers, (who I would never want on my jury as I'm white), so they hear what they want to hear and dismiss what they don't want hear.
That's called selective hearing. By the way, if Zimmerman was beating the tar out of Martin like Piers seems to always infere then why has there been no pre trial mention of Martins face being bloodied, only Zimmermans. And Zimmerman's hands showed no signs of cuts or bruises in pictures taken immediately after his initial arrest.

I could not agree with you more! Had to chuckle at Piers being part of jury . . . so true!

He doesn't exactly look physically fit. It's possible he just didn't hit hard enough for marks to show. A witness testified zimmerman was on the ground and zimmerman a head had marks from being smashed on the cement and a broken nose. A forensic analyst also testified that trayvons wounds were consistent with being shot from below.

In GB police officers, or bobbies, do not carry guns and Morgan is clearly biased to the existent he should not be the monitor. Morgan cut off reference to Zimmerman's broken nose and scalp lacerations. Martin died from a single gun shot wound, but we do not know about the full autopsy. Did Martin also have injuries, lacerations, or a ruptured TM? Zimmerman has claimed self defense and his injuries are consistent, but does Martin have injuries that might suggest more?

You are picking up on the bias of Piers Morgan; In GB even police officers are not permitted guns. If officers believe there is a need for fire power, professionally trained officers arrive with weapons. You ask if Martin's injuries are consistent with the "beat down" terminology used by Morgan. One guest mentioned the broken nose and multiple head lacerations, but Morgan cuts off the direction towards evidence. Martin had an autopsy and we only know he died of a single gun shot wound. If Martin did not have other injuries consistent with a back and forth, Zimmerman's claim of self-defense are supported. If Martin did have multiple injuries, what do the injuries show?

the "HYPOCRISY" that exists with this trial, the media, and all the discussions regarding this 19 yr old girl are astounding!anyone with half a brain knows the "FIX" was in ever since this kid,was "MURDERED" by G.Zimmerman.And yes i said MURDERED,Because that"s what he did.And all the lies that were initially put out,by Zimmerman, his father, his brother, then you have the couple who wrote a book, about this case and "JOE" the black guy who spoke up about how Zimmerman,is such an upstanding guy. It"s enough to make you "PUKE" Blacks never get justice, when killed by whites especially when Police/law enforcement, are involved. It"s always a "TRAGEDY" which is as "WEAK" as it gets. And this Weintraub lady, should be ashamed of herself for her obviously "BIASED" comments, regarding the witness.Let me ask anyone with a fair mind:Does a Black person have the right to be angered,or annoyed when followed by a "White,Psycho, wanna be police officer, who is following him because he has a "HOODIE" on,but is minding his own business?

Firstly, the dispatcher did NOT say not to follow.. She said : "No NEED to follow". Next... the dispatcher subsequently said "keep an eye on him". WOW, sounds like follow to me. Lastly, Why didn't Jeantel call the police ? Reason...SHE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING or she's a complete flake psychopath who doesn't care about anything. She's a complete LIAR about the content of the entire phone conversation.

Piers Morgan is a hypocrite. He say's he hates people who sell guns yet it's ok for Trayvon to sell them over his phone. Probably to someone who will kill an innocent bystander. PM is a fraud.

No need" does not translate to "NO". Additionally, if you just happen to READ the police transcript it also reveals that the dispatcher also said "keep an eye on him". Ask yourself this ... Why didn't Jeantel actually call the police...? Because she never hear anything. Liar.

He was not working that night he did not have the right to hunt Trevon down and kill him. He was told do not follow him but he continued to do it all because he had a gun he was hunting that night!!!

You obviously have trouble with reading. They said first "no need" then they said "keep an eye on him" ... was right on your favorite lefty station MSNBC. So .... grow up.

These wounds on Zimmerons head look self inflicted because his head was not swollen and it sure should of been if it was being smashed into the sidewalk. also zimmeron was not doing his watch he was coming back from shopping why did he have a gun with him and loaded at that. He is a murderer and if he gets off then anyone can pack a gun self inflict wounds and claim self defense, Why was he allowed to pack that gun loaded he knew he had power.

I bet you are anti-gun but have no problem with Trayvon "handgun" Martiin selling illegal guns to street gangs. ...Was right on his phone. TM was someday going to kill someone, probably a ghetto rat, and you support him.

Rachel Jeantel heard 2 main languages before learning English. I tell you, my 2nd language is Spanish and I'm terrible at it. Many of the comments are focusing on Rachel Jeantel's lack of proficiency with a 3rd Language??? This is asinine. Many, Many who are multi-lingual are not that good at Standard English– get over it! George Zimmerman stalked Trayvon Martin with a loaded gun and and had such ill-will in his heart that he got out of the car- far from the instructions of the police and inconsistent with community patrol rules. Zimmerman's a killer. He should get life and would had Trayvon Martin been mixed white/Hispanic and Zimmerman been African American.

Bottom line is, Zimmerman is lucky to be charged with just 2nd Degree murder. Zimmerman assaulted Trayvon Martin by his pursuit with a loaded gun and getting out of his vehicle with same. If 25 years is all the prosecution seeks- pray that it be so- 25 years with no early release. Zimmerman needlessly caused the loss of a young life and Zimmerman needs to pay a high price for that.

Getting out of my car and following you, with or without a gun, is NOT assaulting or stalking you. George Zimmerman had just as much right to be on that street and sidewalk as did Trayvon Martin. Anyone can rationalize any point of view if they try enough. This whole profiling thing is crap because you say profile and I say opinion/impression. You can't legislate people's impressions of other people. If you want to make a different impression then you act and present yourself differently. IF you act and present yourself with the "thug" lifestyle as some call it, then that is what impression you give off. That is just the way it is and no amount of law will ever change that.

  14. should have never been charged

I don't think she helps but no one witness will make or break this case. I think Zimmerman will be found not guilty.
