Former New York State Supreme Court Justice Leslie Crocker Snyder: "The state has presented a weak case as to murder"
On a day which saw Assistant State Attorney Bernie De La Rionda deliver an impassioned closing argument in the George Zimmerman trial, on Thursday evening "Piers Morgan Live" invited Jeffrey Toobin and Leslie Crocker Snyder to offer their professional analysis of what was another dramatic and compelling day in the Sanford, Fla. courtroom.
"I thought it was a really good opening to the summation, I thought putting in context not that this crime began on the night that Trayvon Martin died, but it began when George Zimmerman became more and more obsessed with these prowlers in the neighborhood and he got more and more angry. I thought that was very effective," noted Toobin, a CNN legal analyst. "Where I thought it was less effective was all the use, in the second half, of all the so-called inconsistencies. None of them jumped out to me as bald-faced lies, and I thought building your entire summation, or the entire second half, around George Zimmerman's own words rather than the testimony of others, I thought that was problematic, and I think that that was a weakness in the summation."
Snyder meanwhile, a former New York State Supreme Court Justice, shared her opinion as to the performance of the prosecution, and offered a prediction as to the direction the trial will take moving forward:
"I think my own view is that the state has presented a weak case as to murder, and I think many people feel that way, but a stronger case as to manslaughter," she told Piers Morgan. "But it's hard to judge the prosecution's summation until we hear their rebuttal after the defense, because I think the defense is going to do a brilliant job of destroying a lot of the points that have been made."

George Zimmerman's facial wounds are consistient with injuries due to the recoil of a 9mm pistol.

It is really simple on what the facts of the case are. If the facts were supported by any other evidence the state could produce, than it should have been brought into this trail. I see a bad tragedy, that could have been avoided by both of them. Its unfortunate that it ended up in a fight and it ended with the loss of life. I think he has a strong case for self-defense based on the evidence.
